Debbie Madson’s slender book of salads leaves a lot to be desired. It’s free in the Kindle format, and you definitely get what you pay for here. Looking for estimated time for cooking, number of servings, ingredients in the order that you use them — standard in most cookbooks? You won’t find that here. Indeed, I found myself editing the recipes as I jotted the few down that I liked to add omitted steps or specifications (for example, “peaches, sliced” rather than just “peaches” when that was what was obviously meant).
Not terrible, but most other cookbooks you get will be much better.
I bought this book for 2 reasons. 1. it was free and 2. thought it would have recipes for kids and that was interesting.
However, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only are these recipes suitable for kids but they are great for adults!!! The ingredients are all fresh and homecooked. I saw very few canned ingredients in this cookbook.
I made the "Top Ramen Salad" because I have a lot of Top Ramen. :) The salad was pretty good. AND this recipe uses both the noodles and the seasoning from the Top Ramen. In fact, I will use this salad dressing for many other recipes too.
I am definitely going to bring a Polish Sausage (Potato) Salad to the next family summer reunion! It sounds so good that I might just make a small bowl of it for myself! :) I'm not fond of potato salad but this one sounds yummy.
I tend to eat salad mainly in the summer so this cookbook is going to get a good workout this summer! It's THAT good and it's not JUST for kids!
Easy to make Salad recipes for kids (and adults) 😀
Who knew there were so many recipes for salads! I certainly didn't know! This book is filled with recipes for even the fussiest of eaters!! What I liked about the book are the hyperlinks to each recipe and also some illustrations of the different types of salads.
A wonderful collection of appetizing salads. The recipes are clearly stated the pictures are beyond appetizing and recipe directions are easy. I cannot wait to try these recipes and absolutely cannot wait to taste them.
I liked the variety of different types of salads, as well as how many included a cool dressing. However, I was looking for more of a green salad type book. Lots of the recipes are pasta and fruit salads. Also, there is no index.
There was some great salad recipes in this book. I always think of salads in the Summer and this book they had good ideas for potato salad, pasta salads, fruit salads and chicken salads. YUM!
The instructions are easy to follow and the salads are easy to make. Am not sure of them being kid friendly. There are a few photos in there, though not too quality, but it helped.
Interesting and easy salad recipes! I liked how their was a various kinds of salad, not just leafy varieties. There was numerous pasta salad recipes too.
