“Come my flower, lay your lips on mine, and all the wounds will heal, all the pain will disappear, and our hearts will be at peace. Come and free our bruised and trapped souls.”
Matilda Avril and Kayden Kidd are best friends for eternity. They have always been each other’s safe place, right next door. But grief can separate friendships. Tillie’s mother died in a car crash when she was just seven years old, leaving behind a two-year-old son and a daughter who had to grow up too soon when her father turned to alcohol. Living turned into surviving. The beautiful flower started to wilt.
Kayden’s life had seemed so easy, his trust fund money and his famous family name, and yet no one could see what was going on behind closed walls. He told no one, not even his best friend, the forbidden flower he secretly loved most in this world. Kayden and Tillie’s story is an adventure across the country filled with secrets and memories with their friends.
Will Kayden’s plan to make his best friend start living again work, or will the secret of their journey destroy everything?
With countless butterflies dancing around her mind, the young author Emmy Adamea creates stories to give the characters talking to her a home. A home of love, adventures and sadness. Don't be tricked by her cute covers, or the story inside them might wreck your heart. Emmy loves nothing more than to turn her tears into words and create healing on paper, besides a good coffee, of course.

••••••••••••••••••••• the cover of this is so cute, and it's always fun to find underrated kindle unlimited books. i'm br this with my lovely dee, i'm so excited to read this with you and i hope we have the best time!
“she was so incredibly beautiful. she looked like my favorite song.”
THIS BOOK. OH MY GODD. i was giggling, kicking my feet, twirling my hair, all while reading this.
i absolutely love these characters with my whole heart. tillie and kayden.. don't even get me started on them.. i was crying for these two
tillie's trauma was so realistic, to her losing her mother, and having to grow up so so young, kayden's aswell. i equally felt so bad for them both. i loved how they also confined in eachother.
these characters were so relatable too, which you don't see much in books. i loved emmy's writing so much, for it being her first novel it was so unbelievably good and realistic. i kept saying “one more chapter..” my eyes were glued to the pages.
in concusion, everyone needs a tillie and a kayden in their life, and obviously this book deserves so much more hype. so glad i came across this book 🫶🏻🫶🏻
thank you to the author, emmy adamea for providing me an e-arc !
dnf ! this book made me realize i’m too grown for ya books. i can’t stand teenage characters anymore 😭💀
“being happy isn’t fair to the dead” this is the most stupid pathetic fucking shit i’ve ever heard (also the reason why i dropped this book quick) they’re dead!!?? they don’t gaf how you live your life. at the end of the day, you’re only ruining your own life by being stupid.
the fmc is wasting her life ong i get it your mother died and the grief still persists but do you rly think your mom would want you to waste your youth drowning in self misery???? bitch the fuck no??????
and then she goes like “i’m not depressed i’m just sad” bffr you’re depressed and you don’t want help *how quirky* ugh it said everything about her character and the plot is quite predictable and boring.
4.5 ⭐️ "You know? I love your laugh, you're my favorite melody, Fleur," 💋
Brb about to cry into my pillow. This book is beyond emotional, heart breaking and sad. Yet so genuine and heart touching. The mf poems were so painfully beautiful, with a few were being quite heart wrenching. I always looked forward to the poems at the end of some chapters. The author seriously succeeded in adding emotions and feelings of the characters into words, and into a poem. There was never a dull moment in this book. Lots of amazing quotes. Also the little plot twist near the end?! Woah.
“I deserve your hate and the pain, but you don’t, you deserve everything good coming to you, the light, the love. I love you, Fleur, I love you so much it physically hurts. Every song, every melody I ever wrote or sung, was for you. In the back of my mind, you were the muse my heart longed for. You are my favorite melody.”
──🌷🏷️Kayden & Tillie
“Because this is my promise to never leave you and always love you, Kayden Kidd.”
The story follows along Kayden and Tillie’s grief and healing journey. Tillie is suffering from the loss of her mother, while Kayden is suffering from abuse at the hands of his father. Leaving them both having a hard life as they grew up, never finding peace and the life they truly deserved. While on a road trip with their friends, they find love, truth, and their broken parts. Together, through words, forgiveness and love, they start to heal alongside each other. Very emotional let me tell you that :,)
Oh my god Kayden and Tillie’s friendship/relationship is so precious and pure to the point I can’t even put it into words. They are THE definition of first love + childhood friends to lovers. “My fleur” AHHH. They are so gentle and sincere with each other I’m crying (of jealousy 🙄). If there was just a littleee more tension between them, I would definitely be giggling and kicking my feet’s over them.
"We have never ever broken our promises; we are forever, Kayden Kidd."
──💐💫 More quotes
“All of his tattoos were memories from our childhood. There is something special about having your childhood best friend as your lover, something romantic. We were building the life we never had, but had always wanted.”
“Should I tell you a secret?” he asked and leaned down to me, our lips only inches away. “Yeah?” knowing what was coming, I already smiled. “You’re the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.”
“She was so pretty. Someday I was going to marry this girl and make her my own flower that always bloomed.”
"She was so incredibly beautiful. She looked like my favorite song."
“Kissing her in a secret moment hidden between pages, She touched my heart with her eyes of a dreamer, She was a poet with her feelings drawn into words, Kissing her felt like she was already writing about me.”
"I knew it was hard for her and that she was shutting almost everyone in her life out. I was so thankful I wasn’t one of them. Even if she had tried to, I would have never let her get away with it."
“Because it wasn’t a dream where we were friends.” “We weren’t friends? Not even in a parallel universe, Tillie. I’d make you my friend in each universe.”
“Her mother had only ever given the little book a name, but never filled a single page. She had never told her daughter what the book had been meant for and why she never used it. It only had a title: Poetry of Flowers.”
──🐌🍡 Conclusion
I love this book, I really do! Definitely had the potential to be 5 stars (rating could change, who knows), however there were just a few things that stopped it (nothing bad). Imo the grieving, healing journey and mental health was realistic and nicely portrayed. The ending was great. 100% recommend!
A childhood friends to lovers story Poetry of Flowers by Emmy Adamea follows high school students Kayden Kidd and Matilda Avril.
Words cannot adequately convey the novels perfection. Emmy did a wonderful job of capturing the love between two individuals who have experienced horrible things and how they are able to find solace in each other and in themselves.
Although I had gone into this book expecting the characters to be older, l believe that them being in high school added realism and tragedy to the story.
The writing in this was astronomical. Everything about Emmy's writing, from the poetry, the scenarios, to the emotions was perfect. Also, the romance in this novel had me swooning because of the way they both looked out for one another, the way he always cared for her and how they both noticed the little things about one another.
Since Emmy beautifully portrayed the anguish endured by the main characters as well as the beauty of falling in love with your best friend, this book ultimately felt like a work of art, so frail yet beautiful.
*Thank you to the author, Emmy Adamea, for providing me an e-arc of her debut, in exchange for an honest review.*
"our friendship is not a bracelet or a necklace we wear, we’re so much more kayden. we’re together till the end of time."
— i would like to begin this review by saying thank you to my angel, ria, for convincing me to read this book! i love you lots. <3 i went into poetry of flowers with high expectations and it did not disappoint!!
this story is told from two perspectives: matilda avril and kayden kidd, best friends since they were little kids. both characters were so beautiful and special in their own ways. tillie, a poet with a loving, strong heart—and kayden, a guitarist with a compassionate, gentle soul. i loved learning about their little qualities, the things that make them happy, and their personalities. they went through so much and still stayed true to themselves. ugh they’re just so precious.
my favorite aspect of this book is the found family. oh my god, it was so good. the side characters added so much more to the story. autumn and theo were adorable and i can’t wait to read their book!! even though violett and nash were barely in this story, i am SO EXCITED for path of desire!
"she was so incredibly beautiful. she looked like my favorite song."
the romance was so cute! i love how much tillie and kayden love and support each other; it’s really the sweetest thing ever. i’m so glad they were able to heal and find a new sort of comfort in one another. 🤍
i only have two minor complaints: there were a lot of grammatical/writing errors, and the plot was pretty predictable! that being said, as she continues to write, i can only see ms. emmy adamea getting stronger in these aspects!! i cannot even believe this is her debut novel—it’s amazing!
— overall, i absolutely recommend this book and i cannot wait to continue the grand lee series! (i will be purchasing all the books because the covers, specifically the discreet ones, are stunning.) 🩰
1/5 i wish i realized how much i would hate this book after the first hour of reading but i was already too far in to turn back. this author must be below the age of 15 because the writing was SO horrible reminded me of wattpad but the bad version of wattpad. i’m reading a sterek fanfic that was writing in 2013 that 100% better than this.
firstly i am so freaking proud emmy for finally doing this!!
and second of all.. I LOVE IT kayden and tillie own my heart and their pain was my pain while reading 🥹 i mean what kayden had to carry almost alone just bc he wanted to protect tillie??? i cannot
to the side characters: i cannot wait for violett and nash and autumn and theo oooown me best besties ever
lastly yet again i love this book and i cannot fucking wait for the rest!!!!
*adds to favorites shelf* "𝘔𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶." excuse me while i go ugly cry please. i was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this absolute masterpiece ( and emotional wreckage ) and i've honestly never felt so honored. poetry of flowers (*sobs while thinking of the meaning*) follows matilda - tillie - and kayden, two broken, sad people who found the power to heal and love again through each other. they grew up together, healed together and experienced such amazing feelings together i'm literally sobbing while thinking about them. tillie, my love, she went through so much but found the power to get up every day and not only care for herself but for the people around her and that is honestly admirable. kayden, my sweet boy, my heart hurt for him and i just wanted to give him such a big hug, for going through everything but still finding it in him to be a good person. they were such unique characters, their story told from such a deep, personal view that i felt every word embedded into my very soul. once again, i feel so honored and so fortunate to have been given an ARC of this and honestly, I cannot wait for this to hit the shelves and get the love it deserves. emmy love, i hope you know you wrote an absolute masterpiece and i am so incredibly proud 🩷
there are books that you fall in love with, and there are books that speak to your soul. this book broke & healed me. I’m honestly trying my best to conjure the words to describe how I felt after reading this book and I just can’t, I think I could read this book a thousand times and never have the words to explain how I feel.
it’s rare to find a book that can make you feel so so many things at once and I would literally pay thousands and millions to read this book for the first time again. the writing in this book was beautiful, lyrical, magical and just BREATHTAKING. it was full of real, beautiful and raw emotions from everyone. (I was so shocked when I found out english isn’t even the authors first language??? like???)
this story is so mine. this book truly is one of those stories that stays with you forever <3
Ugh. So many DNFs this year 😭 I stopped at 10% I really wanted to enjoy this book, but the grammar and spelling issues were too much. Emmy Adamea desperately needs an editor:
(These are direct quotes)
Mom asked whilw she filled a glass with orange juice and placed it beside my breakfast.
Nash however disagrees and “Yeah Dad, stop yelling.” … I grabbed my bag I had thrown next to the kitchen island and left the kitchen. My appetite now gone.
I smiled to myself as I shoved the eggs on their slice and the ones for their father on a lonely one, with some waffles on the side already. As I set the plates down in front of both of them, Jonas comes down the stairs dressed in a suit that looked terribly worn out.
As you can see, the author switches between past tense and present tense, and also has typos and incomplete sentences. That may not bug some people, but it pulls me out of the story.
Hopefully this can get edited someday! The story and characters have potential 🫶🏼
this was such a beautiful story!! i love and care so much for these characters, they both deserve the world <3
despite being a YA, Poetry of Flowers deals with some heavy and really sad topics in such a realistic way. tillie and kayden went through so much and they’re only 17. all i wanted to do was to give them the biggest hug ever and tell them everything would be ok, they will get through everything
i’m a sucker for childhood friends to lovers and this one was literally perfect! tillie knows everything about kayden just like kayden knows everything about tillie and it was SO cute to see how much they love each other. they’re the definition of soulmates, truly made for each other.
theo and autumn complete the little group sooo well and i can’t wait for their book!! i’m so ready for more of their banter 🤭
now let’s talk about the freaking plot twist???? i was so not ready for it, my jaw DROPPED
kayden and tillie are my babies now and i’m so happy i got to read their emotional but oh so beautiful story <3 can’t wait for y’all to read this amazing book and fall in love with them just like i did 💕
thank you so much Emmy for this ARC <333 Emmy’s debut novel comes out on august 25th and YOU should read it!!!
This was a poorly written book. Basically a knockoff Dawsons Creek. It was just bad. Bad grammar, bad (almost non existent) plot, bad characters, bad spelling.
Also, why does everyone call Kayden boy??? Like where did that come from. And why are these kids speaking like 70 years old poets. They’re 17, let them be normal, stupid children. Not everyone (in fact barely anyone) is speaking riddles from the ripe age of 10 (the flashbacks were terrifying why were they talking so maturely).
want to start this review by saying how incredibly proud i am of emmy, this book is EVERYTHING and the cover is so so stunning.
tropes: 🌷 childhood best friends to lovers 🌷 first love 🌷 it’s always been you 🌷 found family 🌷 boy obsessed 🌷 dual pov
this book left me completely speechless, emmy did such an amazing job with it. she wrote these characters so beautifully, i couldn’t help but fall in love. childhood best friends to lovers was never one of my fav tropes, i always said that it needed to be really well written for me to like it and that’s exactly what emmy did, she took a trope i didn’t quite like and wrote this amazing book that made me love it.
on the other hand she also wrote one of my fav tropes - found family - in such a cute and connecting little way, i loved every single part of it.
matilda is definitely one of the most relatable characters i ever read about and i saw so much of me in her but also in kayden. they’re both so fucking relatable and i wish i could give them the biggest hug ever.
the way the whole story is written made me care so much for these characters, when they cried i cried and when they were happy i was happy and that is definitely one of the things i appreciate the most in books, when you can actually feel the characters’ emotions through simple words. their relationship is one of the cutest i ever read about, they remind me so much of lily and lo from the addicted series, there for each other despite everything.
and last but not least THE FUCKING PLOT TWIST??? my jaw was glued to the floor for the entire time, i absolutely loved it.
thank you so much emmy for writing this beautiful and endearing love story, i can’t wait for your next book 🩷
🤍 Childhood friends to lovers 🤍 Traumatic past 🤍 Found family 🤍 grief
Ahhhh this was soo good 😍😭
I teared up many times while reading this because of their story 🙈 Tillie lost her beloved mum when she was really young... she is still pretty depressed and traumatised which you could really feel 🥺 Kayden never felt loved by his father and it broke my heart to read what he did to him as a child 😭 my poor babies The problem in Tillies situation is that she needed to take care of her little brother and on top of that her alcoholic dad... as a reader you feel everything she says 🫂🥺
Their relationship and connection was everthing and they save each other from drowning in their problems 🤍 My really big problem was that Kayden knew he wanted her but still went to sleep around because he didn't want to ruin their friendship 🙄🤨 brooooo whyyyy ??? It could have been THE best book ☹️😬
One last thing - there was no smut so you are really focussing on their emotional binding & it was pretty pleasent 🫶🥺🫂
"Tillie was my flower, the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. In a field full of flowers, she was the one I would always pick. I'd always pick you, my Fleur"
Where to start? From beginning to end this book has destroyed me and healed me simultaneously in a truly inexplicable way. The way I felt understood by all these characters made my heart ache, truly. Starting with Tillie, a girl of infinite strength and sweetness. A girl who had to struggle with such an important loss at an age when you should just have fun. She grew up too fast, like Kayden, and that’s why they deserve the world. Kayden is fantastic, a guy who has a heart of gold and who has put for years the happiness of his best friend, his soul mate, in front of his. God, the way he talks about her?? I'll never get over it, he's just amazing. A guy who always expected anger as the first reaction from people. I am eternally grateful that he and Tillie managed to get better and heal.
Theo oh sweet Theo, I swear this guy deserves the world, I really want to give him a long-distance hug. Together with Kayden, he is the character that made me feel understood the most. I'm more like him than anyone else, and seeing the love he received from his friends filled my heart with love and joy. On the other hand, Autumn is pretty much his opposite, yet they are so perfect together. I need to see them as a couple asap couple. These two are my parents absolutely, I see myself in both him and her and together they form an unusual yet perfect duo.
Nash and Violett haven’t been around much, yet I’m still in love with them. I swear they’ll always have a place in my mind every time I think about this book. Nash as a single character was much appreciated by me, and he did a great job as a big brother in my opinion.
One of the things I loved most about Kayden was that she waited for Tillie, always and anyway, because before she could love him and accept his love, she had to learn to love herself and heal. They made me smile and cry, they are so pure I swear, they are literally soul mates and no one will ever convince me otherwise. Loving them till death. Both have gone through so much despite their young age and truly deserve the world. Despite all the problems they’ve been through, they’ve stuck together to give each other strength. I love them.
The book itself pictures different types of trauma and different ways a person can deal with their own problems, and it is because of this immense diversity that I loved it. There is a lot of focus on developing and improving characters, so don’t expect a flood of plot twists every two pages (although the few that have been there had me screaming) but the chapters are short and flowing, so it reads really fast. Just perfect, and it’s a book that I think everyone should read, especially someone who’s going through a trauma similar to Tillie or Kayden.
“Tillie was my flower, the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. In a field full of flowers, she was the one I’d always pick” “she was a hopeless romantic and what my girl dreamed of, my girl got.”
This book was the CUTEST thing ever. I saw one reel. One single reel about the book and I immediately had to read it. So I did. And I’m so glad I did as I’ve now found a new favourite book.
I absolutely adored these characters with my whole entire heart. They were so real that I connected with them immediately. Tillie and Kayden were honestly perfection. Complete and utter perfection. Their bond was so strong. They were cute as best friends and even CUTER as a couple. You know when you find those characters that are just so compatible? This is them. Tillie and Jayden are soulmates. They are a match made in heaven and are definitely, without a doubt, my new favourites. I adore them. One thing I particularly loved about Kayden was that he waited for Tillie, always and anyways. He stood by her side for absolutely everything, he even held her when she cried!! He always looked after her even when she couldn’t look after herself which was so special. They both made me smile and cry, they are so pure and I swear you will never find another couple like them. Both have gone through so much despite their young age and despite all the problems they’ve been through, they’ve stuck together to give each other strength. They truly deserve the world and I love them so much.
The side characters were also amazing. Particularly Theo. Sweet little Theo 🥺 this guy deserves the world. He made me feel so understood. Seeing the love his friends gave him made my heart swell with joy. Him and Autumn are so perfect together. Despite them being polar opposites, I see them being the perfect couple and I am PRAYING for their book.
The writing was absolutely EXTRAORDINARY. Everything about Emmy’s writing, from the poetry, to the scenarios to the emotions I felt, was perfect. The romance had me swooning. Emmy perfectly described the beauty of falling in love with your best friend. This book ultimately was a work of art. It was beautiful.
"A few years ago, I read something that went along the lines of hurt people hurt people, and healed people heal people. For a long time, I believed I could never love someone because I was too hurt, that was the reason why I distanced myself from all of you, I was afraid to hurt you," Tillie sighed. "Now I wish someone had told me that you hurt yourself more when you isolate yourself in a bubble of sadness.”
A trip. Four friends. A love about to bloom. Loads of secrets. Heartbreaking. Good news? Emmy literally will heal your poor heart with her words by the end of the book. This friends to lovers has as main characters Tillie and Kayden, friends since they were born. The book tells us, thanks to the dual pov, everything they have been through: their insecurities, their damage and their fears. They both suffer because they are broken but, still they are the only thing that keep them together. Kayden is the ultimate book boyfriend. He totally destroyed my chance of getting a real one. He’s always there when Tillie needs him and he would allow her to break his heart just to see her happy. He’s in love with her since he can remember but he knows that she has to heal before of telling her, so he hides his fears and his trauma just to stand by her side. I love this story because their love just bloom as the flowers in spring. It just happens and you find yourself smiling and giggling. A lot.
I love Kayden’s povs, the flashbacks and Theo. PROTECT MY BABY AT ALL COSTS. IM GOING TO START A FAN CLUB FOR HIM.
I loved the way Emmy wrote poems and put it into the book. Some of them read me. If you’re looking for a dreamy, honest, pure romance i recommend it because it will be difficult to keep feelings at bay.
Ps: you are so not ready to meet Kayden Kidd 🤭

i am so glad i had the chance to read poetry of flowers by the wonderful author emmy adamea a few weeks before the release date. it was a really great read!
let’s start with the writing.. it’s emmy’s debut book and i mean it when i say it, her writing was perfect. she outdid herself, and put every thought, emotion, and feeling into paper. and i felt all of those emotions as if they were mine. there were poems, and i sometimes felt like the monologue of the characters were a poem too. it was written incredibly perfect.
the main characters, tillie and kayden, were so adorable. they have the childhood friends to lovers trope which is my absolute favorite. tillie has such a good heart, and i am so happy that i’ve read about her story that made me sad yet so happy. i didn’t expect to cry for kayden but i did. i fell in love with his character, and i fell in love with the love story between him and tillie. the side characters.. i loved them so much! especially theo, he was my favorite. he is such a conflicted character but he is also so interesting. i can’t wait to read more about him once emmy continues the story!
everyone should give this book a chance once it’s out because the story was amazing, and i’m sure that the rest of the book series will be great too!!
alexa play “you are on your own, kid” by taylor swift 🌷
Honestly, this book felt like a hug. The characters were so real that I could connect with them really fast, Tillie and Kayden are so strong and so resilient and their bond is honestly so perfect, that even after all the pain they went through the only thing they did was look out for each other and create a stronger love 😭
The characters, the relationships, the found family, the POEMS and the PLOT TWIST ????????
I finished the book in one sitting !!!, in my opinion Emmy wrote a beautiful childhood friends to lovers story that leaves you heartbroken and healed at the same time with such realistic characters and emotions 🧸
I honestly loved the book and I’m so ready to read more about the characters from the books in the series that are yet to come 🌷 theoautumn 👀 you had me hooked since the beginning
my wonderful friend made me read it and im so happy she did. i literally shed tears all the while reading it? but not bc it’s very sad but just bc i understood tillie in a way that was so comforting. every scene; every thoughts, i was finding myself in her and it was so reassuring to know that we aren’t alone in this.
and her relationship with kayden? he is literally so caring, so thoughtful, so noticing every detail of her (maybe that’s bc they know each other so well) but it was just so well written (i remember texting iara after ch3 and saying to her "i love the writing of this book")
also i won’t go too far over the poems bc i don’t wanna spoil the story, but the reason why she wrote it… i guess that’s one of the mainly reason why i found myself in her again.
kayden and tillie hold such a special place in my heart i love them sm
first of all i wanna say i was lucky enough to be given an arc of this quite literal masterpiece i enjoyed every second of this book it was so beautifully written especially tillies story i related to her sm and her and kaydens relationship was literally so wholesome
the characters were one if the best ive ever read about i don't think ill ever really get over them or their story also wanted to mention how much i loved autumn and theo i was honestly eating up every tiny crumb of them
Overall one of my favourite reads of this year so far you guys need to pick this up immediately after it releases

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. this is one of the books that will forever be tattooed in my heart; i will for ever be thankful to Emmy. this is one of my favorite books AND THIS IS A DEBUT NOVEL?! I REPEAT A MASTERPIECE. a book that is like a band-aid, hurts? yes, but it also helps and heals. i adore everything in this book, the characters, the playlist, the quotes, the cover, the author, the poems, just everything in my eyes if perfect. i cried a lot while reading it, i will never regret about reading this book.
