Rory Smith has been playing bass for Blinding Light since the beginning. Sure, he left a few times temporarily, but he’s always gone back to the only life he’s really known. It was all fun and games in his twenties, but lately he wonders if there’s something more out there besides traveling show to show.
Kai Marshall has always been a huge fan of Blinding Light, but the real reason he goes to every show he can sneak into is to get a glimpse of their hot bass player. Everyone else worshiped the lead singer Easy Rian. When they found out, he was out and proud, and in a relationship with the new guitar player, many hearts were broken. But not his. His heart only beats for Rory, the white-blonde haired rock god that he can’t get out of his head.
Rory’s played the rockstar game for many years. Not one time in all those years has he met anyone who made him feel the way the cute guy off to the side with the haunting blue eyes does. He’s always kept his heart on lockdown, but maybe it’s time for a jailbreak. His dreams have faded, but they’re not completely gone.
Some dreams do fade. Some explode in colors and emotions. Some feel so real that you reach for them, but they disappear. It does not matter if you are awake or asleep, dreams only work well when shared with family, good friends, and the love of your life.
Combining love and dreams may not solve all of your problems or remove all the annoying issues of life, but it sure does make everything better for both as the reach for the power hum behind the music as they kiss the night away.
Live music beats the drums and strums the cords to make the vocals resonate through the crowd. Car music has too much background noise. Radio or cellphone varies from place to place. Yet it is the vibrations of energy that shake you to your core and love good music and good people.
BL Maxwell gives us a second glimpse into Blind Lighting in this year's Road to Roctoberfest 2023 offering! Rory gets his chance at a HEA when he sees something in Kai, the man who delivers food to the band and kick starts his songwriting after a long dry spell...
This is a truly low angst love story, with their "I love you"s exchanged early and often and the main sources of angst from outside sources - a former band member of Blind Lightning and Kai's financial situation... Maxwell writes the characters beautifully and sets the scene well, building the anticipation of Roctoberfest, but I would have liked a longer build to the relationship, especially the exchange of love words. This book hit marks for sweet, getting steamy and good character development and it makes an excellent addition to this year's multi-author series.
As always, the books in this multi-author series can be read standalone and in any order. You do not need to have read previous year's stories to enjoy this one, but if you want background to the band and some of the side characters, you should read Blinding Light first.
On the road to Rocktoberfest with the band and a new love story. A little bit of drama pulls you further into the story and veers of from the romance for just a bit. Meeting up with the band, the familiarity was nice. The instant attraction was fun and as they began the relationship you grew more and more attached. This series is one that’s entertaining and as you close the book you look forward to more.

Reread as audiobook - good narration, with a nice variety of Irish accents for Easy. Good low angst story with two quite sweet MCs. It was good to see more of this band, I really enjoyed that they are not super stars headlining everywhere. It was pretty much instalove but slow burn at the same time, which was interesting.
While helping his parents out, Kai delivers a food order to his favorite band Blinding Light, he sees his crush up close. Rory is struck by how attracted to the delivery guy he is. And a second chance meeting has them exchanging numbers. Texts and calls become lunches and dinners then on to overnight stays. This beautiful story about a up and coming rock star and a young man who is dedicated to his family and is finishing college is just the sweetest book! I loved it. Of course there’s a little angst but it all ends well. Enjoy!.

Faded Dreams by BL Maxwell is part of the multi author The Road to Rocktoberfest 2023 series. Each book is a standalone about Hot rockstars and the men who love them. This book is about Rory the bass player for the band Blinding Lights and Kai a huge fan of the band. This is a low angst sweet story. I love the way BL Maxwell writes the characters. I enjoyed watching these two figure out their relationship. If you're looking for a nice feel good read this book is for you. I would definitely recommend this book.
I loved this book. Rory Smith has been the bass player since the very beginning in his band Blinding Light. One day during band practice a man delivers their food and captures Rory's attention. What are the odds when Rory orders food at home that the same man named Kai Marshall delivers it. Kai is a huge fan of Blinding Light and has a huge crush on Rory. Rory and Kai hit it off and enjoy being together. When a past band member starts causing trouble will it end the new relationship before it really even began?
This is my audio review of Faded Dreams. Faded Dreams is BL Maxwell's story for Rocktoberfest 2023 and book two in her Blinding Light series. The series follows rock band Blinding Light from the tour that gets them to Rocktoberfest to national fame and beyond. Book one was Easy and Liam's story, lead singer and guitarist for the band. They're less supporting characters in Faded Dreams, more like secondary MCs. Still very much in love, cuddling, kissing in a "Thank God their room is on the other side of the rental house" way. Rory, the band's bass player, enjoys the life of a 'rock god'. Hook-ups are easier than trying to maintain a relationship while on the road, he denies that he wants what Easy and Liam have. Secretly, he's a little jealous. He's in a creative slump, unable to complete a promised song ( we find out why later in the story). In walks Kai who is delivering food for the band. After only a quick interaction, Rory's creativity resurfaces and he swears that Kai is his muse. He writes the song Faded Dreams in one night, and everyone is sure it's going to be a hit. The pair meet again, on another food delivery. A relationship forms. Between band practices and gigs and Kai's heavy work/school schedule, it's slow going. There are quite a few bumps and twists in the road to an HEA. I did not enjoy this story as much as the first and the third. At 21, Kai is too good to be true, sacrificing all his free time to help support his parents. Rory's mom, who lived next door to him, was intrusive. No boundaries. At all. Guy Veryzer did no favor with his narration. He definitely needs to NEVER sing/speak song lyrics ever again. The delivery was gravelly and honestly, just awful. The 'voice' he gave Kai made him sound 12 rather than 21. Which was a problem for me, esp. during the intimate scenes. The corn hole competition set up by a Reno radio station was funny. The drama with Jake and the notebook, a little sinister. The progression of their drummer leaving the band begins here. It resolves in book three, which happens to be my favorite.

Rory is the bass player for the rock group Blinding Light. He has been with the group for several years, has generally avoided entanglements, and has pretty well decided he will be alone. One night, the guy delivering the food order to the band catches Rory’s eye, and he can’t get him out of his mind. Kai is just turned 21, a college student and working his off class hours delivering food or ferrying people from pointA to point B to help his family. When he gets a food delivery to the band Blinding Light, he is awestruck. He has been a fan of the band for years, especially Rory, his favorite. When he gets to meet the band members and his crush, he is thrilled, cherishing this once in a lifetime coincidence. When Kai takes a delivery to a private home a few days later, he is shocked to see Rory. Rory had been wondering if he would see the handsome young man again, and gets him to stay and eat while they talk. Thus begins a slowly evolving attraction leading to time together and an eventual relationship. Rory has found that his feelings for Kai have opened the block he had writing his music, but Kai is now his muse, and he is surprised by his growing feelings for this young man, opening his heart in unexpected ways. The development of the relationship seems believable to me, as it is not a one night hookup, but a gradual sharing of thoughts, dreams and feelings over a longer period than one would be led to believe is the norm for rockstar relationships. The background on what it takes to prepare for playing, be it large or small venues, the amount of practice, gear prep and setup process was enlightening. Connecting with the characters from the Rocktoberfest 2022 book by this author retained the continuity of the series, and made it more interesting as we got to know all the band members better, even though this one is Rory’s story. A satisfying afternoon read. 4.5 stars.

I enjoyed reading how these two got together after reading their holiday short. I enjoyed the story as I could tell the author was passionate about rock and the music scene, and I thought Rory and Kai were a cute couple falling fast and hard.
However, I kept getting distracted by numerous small gaps and continuity inconsistencies. For example: Kai’s project partner had a girlfriend she was crazy about, but then later in the story she had a boyfriend (not implied that this was a new relationship); Kai originally said he’d never seen the band play live before (so Rory gets him into the show as a result) but then later said he had seen them before, just not in this specific kind of venue; Rory and Kai start texting after never actually exchanging numbers; Kai is making so much money as a delivery driver, yet his dad is not working while looking for construction work, why can’t he do what Kai does too in the meantime if he hates being out of work so much?; and bits of text and interactions get repeated like it’s the first time they’re happening (I.e. Kai introduces himself to Rory twice). It wasn’t big plot holes, but it kept happening throughout the story to the point I was getting pulled out of the story having to try and go back and figure out if I’d just misremembered or if this was indeed not matching, which drew me out of the audiobook far more than it would an ebook.
Overall, this is a cute story, a tad predictable, but in an enjoyable, cozy read way. However, if you’re like me where inconsistencies can draw you out of the story, you might want to either stick with the ebook or skip this one, cause I was definitely getting frustrated by the end trying to figure out what was going on.

“Waiting for someone or something Not sure what to do with this energy burning inside Then you walked in and you’re all I see Faded Dreams, you give me hope Faded Dreams, not faded anymore Faded Dreams, you make all my dreams come true My Faded Dreams are now our reality”
Rory Smith bass player for Blinding Light is feeling his age and loneliness when his band mates are all coupled up except him until he sets his eyes on the gorgeous guy delivering their food at their practice room… and finds his muse… and love of his life…
Kai Marshall a 21 year old graphic student’s biggest dream came true when he delivered food to his favourite bass player idol of his favourite band- Blinding Light…
This is where their story began as a sweet friendship that evolved into a beautiful and deep relationship when two souls were melded into one!
I loved their chemistry and dynamic with each other with a slow burn that ignited their passion and love for each other and the acceptance they received from the band members, family and fans.
The cameo appearance of characters from the Small Town City Series was a lovely surprise to round off their story!

A lovely read that has everything I’ve got to say since I picked this book up I haven’t been able to put it down. It is a fantastic read that had me hooked. Rory is the bass player in blinding light band and he writes the songs that they sing. One night as the band are rehearsing, they order dinner and have it delivered and this is when he first spots Kai. Kai was going to college and working. Every chance he gets as his father had lost his job. So he felt it was his place to bring some money in. And as he had just 21 he was looking forward to seeing his favourite band blinding light. But when he picked up a food order to deliver, he never thought he would see them this early. When he spots Rory, his heart beats even faster. I would even go as far to say it was love at first sight. But it isn’t until another chance meeting of Kai delivering food to Rory’s home that they really get a chance to speak. Would this two have a future? Honestly, you will not be disappointed in this book Rory and Kai are just completely right for one another. You also have an Outlook of how well the band are doing and how they get to Roctoberfest. Rory and Kai are soulmates.

This story line was very well done, giving us the excitement and hard work going into the band’s preparation for the current year’s Roctoberfest as well as the love story between Rory Smith and Kai Marshall. Rory is getting older and thinks about his future. Will he remain alone? Kai is a college student who delivers food orders as a way to help out his family. He is surprised when he gets the opportunity to deliver a food order to Blinding Light’s musicians. Being up close to his favorite rock star is his dream come true. Days later, he makes a delivery to a private home and finds Rory lives there. Invited to sit and eat with Rory, Kai enjoys their time together. Rory is surprised to feel the desire to write music again which had faded after a bad breakup. And Kai gradually got to know the rest of the band members and was welcomed backstage.
There is so much more to this story, both good and a few bad incidents. But overall, it provides a feeling of excitement as the band prepares for the huge Rocktoberfest moment, and the reader shares Kai and Rory’s story as they find each other and the happiness they deserve.
The book was well-written and had genuine emotion and connection. The characters were well-developed, likable, and relatable. Kai was a sweetheart and he had his heart set on the gorgeous bass player Rory, who was just as enamored of Kai. I liked their dynamics and their chemistry was really good. The MC’s had a sweet meet-cute and it was very satisfying to watch their feelings develop and evolve into something real and lasting. This is a book in a multi-author series, but you can read this book as a standalone; however, I highly recommend reading Blinding Light: Road To Rocktoberfest 2022, as it has the love story of Easy and Liam, who are characters in this book. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more of the series. I love this author’s writing style, and this was another book that was well worth the read.

Rory is in Blinding Light, a local band that has hopes of making it big but it takes a lot and there are as many setbacks as moves forward that he and his band experience as they continue to strive for what they want. When we encounter him at the start of the story he is wondering if the dream will come and then he sees Kai, the hardworking delivery guy who came to bring food to the band when they are practicing. Each of these guys is working hard in his own way but seeing one another and connecting breathes hope which is needed into both of their workaday lives. Their story is both ordinary and extraordinary in that the love transforms both men's existence in very real ways.

I loved Faded Dreams by BL Maxwell. It's the second book in the Blinding Light series and part of the multi-author series Road to Rocktoberfest 2023. I loved Rory and Kai's story. I loved how Blinding Light's members interacted together. They were one big, found family with the love and support of their families. I loved Easy's dad. He made me laugh. I could totally picture him with his huge mohawk, combat boots, and kilt, running around the moshpit with Easy and Liam. I loved how Kai stepped up to help with the family bills when his dad was having difficulty finding jobs. This is an excellent story in the Road to Rocktoberfest and Blinding Light series.

Rory is the bassist for Blinding Light a rock band. The other members are Shamus/Easy, Liam and Glen. They are getting ready for Rocktoberfest a large concert near Reno. They have had some problems when a guitarist quit and had to be replaced. Kia is a community college student who works to help the family pay their bills. Kia works food delivery and ride share whenever possible. Blinding Light is a favorite band and when a food delivery is to their studio/practice space Kia is amazed at how nice they are. Kia and Rory become friends and Rory invites Kia to a concert. This is a story of friendships, love, drama and so much more. A great read on a chilly night.
ROCKTOBERFEST 2023 is what Rock & Roll dreams are made of. BL MAXWELL is carrying on with Blinding Light. Rory the bassist is the next one to be obsessed with love. Kai is the hard working delivery guy who is lucky enough to make a delivery. I loved this Book!! Each Book in this massive collaboration can be read as a stand alone. Each Book is the journey to Rocktoberfest in Reno. BL MAXWELL brought the struggles and the pure determination each band must possess to make it to the top. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS MAGNIFICENT THE ROAD TO ROCKTOBERFEST COLLECTION!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this sweet love story by BL Maxwell. Can a rockstar be cute? Apparently so when the rockstar in question is Rory Smith from Blinding Light, a band on the rise to fame, falling in love with the cutie that is Kai Marshall. Kai enters Rory’s life delivering a meal at the band’s studio, and never leaves Rory’s attention after that. The bass player, who seems so self-assured on stage, becomes almost (almost) shy in Kai’s presence. There’s quite a bit of an age gap, but that never really comes into play, as both men seem not even to consider it. Low angst, sweet and centered on music, this audiobook was so good to listen to.
Once again BL Maxwell brings us a wonderful book into the mutli-author Roctoberfest series. This book brings us back to the Blinding Light band with a book about it's bass player Rory and Kai who is a delivery person and fan of the band. This is a sweet, low angst book that is a standalone but it is nice to read the first book about this band which was in last years Roctoberfest (Blinding Light).
This is another great read from BL Maxwell. I love how they write, and their stories always have well-defined characters.
Although Rory and Kai have an insta-love, they don't get together instantly. The band dynamic is also good, and I felt like I was at their concerts with them.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Well worth a read. I read in KU.
This is a well written friends to lovers romance with strong characters in Kai and Rory. The author takes you into their lives with a slow burn romance. She gives them a strong chemistry and sizzling passion as she brings them together. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes and delivers a sweet read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Rory and Kai may have lived different lives, but it’s easy to see why they are so attracted to each other. Kai shows Rory that even though his original dream had faded, it didn’t mean that he couldn’t build on that dream to find something better. Something that just might include a love of his own.
It was great to revisit Blinding Light and seeing all the members again. This one features Rory, who is the bassist for the group. When he meets Kai, his muse reappears. This is a great low angst, high heat book that I could not put down. Love the world building and slow burn romance. Love these series and looking forward to reading more.
Faded Dreams is a part of the 2023 Road to Roctoberfest series and the second book in the Blinding Light series started in Roctoberfest 2022. This is a sweet low angst romance. I love the instant connection between the MCs. Good Read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was full of excitement, angst, heat and unexpected twists and turns, and of course, love. This was a great read continuing the story of the band Blinding Light. I really hope that the author writes another book about them and where they are headed next in Rocktoberfest 2024. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. This was worth the read.
This is another good addition to this multi author series and it was good to be back with blinding light this time it’s Rory’s story it’s a good low angst, age gap story and I thought Rory and Kai were perfect for each other, good story well worth a read.
I have read most of the books in this series and this one is by far my favorite one so far. I just loved the way they met and the chemistry between them was incredible!.
