Was a really good read.Ousama’s perspective is really refreshing and offers timeless gems if applied in our lives could change the way we see the dunya and strive for the akhirah more.He offers insights to concepts such as time and Allahs creation of the world and our perception/mind as the dunya and how these things can shift once we have iman in our hearts.Loved this book will try to keep up with the raqeeb streaks at the end!Very well written!

The Afterlife Manual

What is the real meaning of success?
Is it having good grades?

“فمن زحزح عن النار وأدخل الجنة فقد فاز”
The greatest success—the one we need to work hard for and prioritize—is to attain salvation from Hell and enter Paradise. This should be at the forefront of our yearly goals.

Ousama Alshaurafa, in his book, provides a manual to guide us, in sha’ Allah, toward زحزح عن النار. The language of the book is simple and accessible, making it an excellent choice for anyone seeking spiritual clarity, especially at the beginning of the year when we set our intentions and goals.

The book starts by explaining the basics:

What is Iman (faith)?
What is the soul?
The concept of means and the doer (asbab and musabbib).
He covers many other subjects and concludes with practical advice, including four activities to keep your nafs (self) engaged with and others you need to avoid.

This book brought me back to reality, making me reflect on how far I am from the Sirat al-Mustaqim (the straight path). It showed me how my life should be and what goals I should pursue. It reminded me of how disconnected I have been from the ultimate reality, bringing me back to the present moment.

We were created to subjugate the worldly qmeans and to serve God. The means are below us. To think that money, or any other worldly means is independently powerful is shirk. Don’t give agency to the things of this world. Allah creates water, water doesn’t quench thirst, Allah quenches thirst. Allah created the sun and Allah gives light. Allah created fire and Allah burns. The fire is not auto executing a function, how did the fire become cool for Ibrahim (PBUH). Because the fire is under the command of Allah, it can burn, cool, or do whatever Allah commands. Why do 2 people take the same medicine and one gets sicker while one recovers? Sticks don’t usually split apart the sea or turn into snakes but a stick does what Allah commands. Allah does not need the sun to provide light, but we perceive through our site that the light is flowing from the sun so we think the sun gives light. Allah will not show us the unseen mechanics responsible for this light for 2 reasons, because if he did everyone would believe in God and there would be no test, and also because we cannot perceive Gods direct actions because the 5 senses of perception are too limited to perceive infinity and eternity (hence why Moses fell down in a swoon and became unconscious in front of God), instead we perceive time and space. This world is our testing matrix and it is in time and space. In paradise we will see direct proof of Allahs existence aka a truer form of reality. The means are a veil so God can test to see who will believe in the unseen, and who will believe that it all begins and ends with what they perceive. We have access to knowledge beyond space and time through the Quran, and we should not be so arrogant to think that our direct experience informs the best way to live, this atheistic hubris is the recipe for a satanic infection of your soul.

This book helped me peirce through multiplicity and understand unicity at a deeper level. It behooves me to revisit these lessons intermittently so that I may inculcate and infuse these concepts into my spirit to enhance my Eman and in turn do righteous deeds.

Some parts of the book are incredibly informative — the content itself is excellent. However, the writing style could be improved significantly. A few chapters are very well written, while others feel more like fillers — at least that’s how it came across to me.

Overall, it definitely offers some fresh perspectives. My rating is based mainly on the writing style. I truly appreciate Br. Osama’s work and pray that Allah blesses him and enables him to continue contributing more valuable knowledge.

I stumbled upon Ousama Alshurafa's podcast it's then I ordered his book. I mean, the book gave me positive surprise, content wise, I was sure about the wisdom but the font, the way its written...it's manuscript, format and the font size, all in all.

I am glad it was my time to receive this knowledge...its definitely a keep.
