A steamy story. So we have a Viscount’s family known for it’s eccentricities, barring one daughter, Margaret, who tries to ensure they are accepted despite said eccentricities. Her sister has just married and a close friend of her husband,a duke, is throwing a house party to welcome them back from honeymoon. It seems his main aim is to invite and meet with an Earl he wishes to do business with. Margaret is concerned the event will upset her eccentric sister if not organised correctly so invites herself to the duke’s to organise it. The story is pleasant enough but there are a few things that did not make it for me. If Margaret is known for being and doing things properly would she invite herself to a duke’s, and then go without a chaperone? The housekeeper starts acting as chaperone but on occasions does not seem to be there, and given they are arranging a house party would the housekeeper have had time to be a chaperone. Moving to the Earl the duke wants to meet he is trying to force the duke to marry his daughter. It transpires he is actually broke and desperate and apparently not the business man people think. But, if the dukes reclusive brother can find this out purely from writing to some people it must be general knowledge surely. The duke is also supposed to be a smart investor so I am surprised he had not heard for himself. Lastly it seems as if said reclusive brother had managed a European trip between the Duke and Margaret getting engaged and their marriage. I would have thought they would marry reasonably quickly, and a European trip was not quick in regency times. It just seems odd. There was also a lot of internal thinking so for me 3 stars.
Maybel Bardot has written an entertaining historical novel full of witty, eccentric characters who made me giggle with every outrageous encounter. Alone with the Duke is a story of opposites that attract. Thomas and Margaret have off the charts chemistry even though they are as different as night and day! Their journey to true love is full of drama, steamy romance, and some of the snarkiest dialogue I have read in a Regency romance! Maybel Bardot's story is very well written and captivated me from the beginning to the end.
I have enjoyed everything I have read by Maybel Bardot. Alone with the Duke is one of my favorites thus far.
Well written, enjoyable read. I consistently enjoy this author's work. I didn't quite understand Nathaniel's (The Duke's brother), actions (or lack thereof). They seemed a little over the top. I'm glad he finally decided to go to Europe, but it seemed like a very fast trip. Despite his reclusiveness, he seemed to find things the Duke had ignored, like information about the man the Duke wanted to discuss investments with. I would have thought the Duke would have been more informed, or careful, since his interest in that investment predated Margaret's intrusion. Minor distraction. I recommend reading. Includes a little more explicit spice than some Regency Romances.
Lady Margaret meets the Duke, Thomas at her sister’s wedding-it’s not “Love at First Sight”, for “Her Troll” is not what she desires. And Thomas cannot stop calling her “My Dear”, even though she is far from that! But the house party to welcome back her sister & her husband will be the highlight for them both. Only one very devious person stands in their way…of true love & happiness..the problem-what to do about it.
Thomas earned a reputation as a take to protect his brother while Margaret lives her life by following all the rules of the ton to live down her rule breaking family. When they spend time together they quickly fall in love and together they complete each other I recommend this book.
A good love story. Only gave 4 stars as started very slow, but picked up later and so very interesting. It was very romantic and with some spice. Loved Hero and heroine later in story. Love this author’s books I have read. I highly recommend this book.
I received a free advanced copy of this book. This is my freely given review and in my honest opinion.
Gostei do andamento do relacionamento deles e do final!
Yes, so worth gushing about. Maybel spins the most delicious, sexy original plots. So diverting! Whenever you desire a sure pick me up, read one of her captivating tales!
incredible writing! the witty banter had me laughing out loud at some points, and the eccentricities margaret indulges for her sister add a whole new layer as she navigates this enemies-to-lovers party planning
From the very beginning this story is filled with mischievous deception as to what is to come before it explodes into an excellent example of tenderness of family and love.
Thomas thought that he did not deserve anyone. He is known as a rogue. Margaret disliked him but was told to go to him and help put on a week of entertainment, for her sister and his best friend. They were married recently. This is a very great story.
