Great book for therapists to give handouts to their clients. This book I use to help clients with mindfulness. I am a trauma therapist and mindfulness is one of the tools I use to help others to be in the moment and relieve some of their anxiety and stress. This is a wonderful tool for every day life and living in the moment, to be free and anxiety, panic attacks and depression. Many of my clients have been relieved from their symptoms from doing the work in this book and practicing on a daily basis.
I purchased this book when I was a rehab provider for those struggling with mental health. I found this book to be incredibly helpful for my clients. The breakdown of sections based on the mental health diagnosis was helpful and the sections were appropriate for the chapter. However with all of this said my most favored tool was the GLAD. I had so many clients that loved practicing this skill and stated it helped them see things differently. I highly recommend this book.

This is an excellent resource for anyone who suffers from anxiety and depression and who has suffered from events that have caused lots of pain. The exercises are thought-provoking, practical, and easy to understand.
Donald Altman je psychoterapeut a bývalý budhistický mních. Dnes je profesorom na Interpersonal Neurobiology program at Portland State University. Iná kniha The Mindfulness Code bola vo výbere “one of the best spiritual books of 2010. Kinestetickým typom pomáha vnímanie pohybu brucha, a pohyb vzduchu pod nosom, a vizuálnym typom pomáha vidieť dych! Aké prosté a aké psychologicky účinné!
As the title suggests, the book is practical, so you might need additional readings if you also hope to better understand the theory and research supporting the tips and tools. I would recommend it even if you aren't a therapist; the tools are useful, and handouts are easy to follow.
There are many great therapeutic ways that one can try to reduce stress. This book contains so many activities that can be for everyone and anyone that needs to reduce their anxiety, stress, or pain. I highly suggest this book if you need help coping with these challenges that every single one of us faces.
This book is full of good mindfulness exercises for lots of different situations. It's very clear. My only wish is that I had not ordered the Kindle version. If you plan to use this for clients you may want to get a physical copy, so that you can make copies of the handouts of the instructions. I will probably order a physical copy as well.
I see myself using this frequently with clients. As a psychotherapist I talk about mindfulness multiple times a day. I bought the electronic version and then purchased the book. The book itself is way more helpful on a day-to-day basis.
