Strong 3.5 to a 4.
There are some moments where the minimalistic prose is almost poignant, particularly with Rosa 😭 but other times, some of the typos and plot makes it more pedestrian.
This year is the year that I discovered my kink trope is cruel and obsessed H abducts h, and scares/physically violent in a medieval-ish setting. This heroine really doesn’t like hero, which is understandable, but hope the next book she is more conflicted.
Not a huge fan when religion is a theme, just not into it, but it’s ok as it feels more blending in to the 15th century environment.
The sneak peek to the second book, the letter, makes the hero sound like Tom Riddle lol. Hot but dead inside.

Alistair is a religion that seems close to the Abrahamic religions but it is not a sex cult. It's just how Alec uses religious language during sex that feels cultish to me.
Alec is not necessarily mentally unstable but more of a psychopath that uses religion as a way to lead/charm folks.

Totally insane and very original. Literally all of the trigger warnings though. I would steer clear of this one if r@pe and domestic violence are triggers for you. Lot's of spelling and easy to fix grammar mistakes, otherwise I would have given this book 4 stars. I like how the FMC didn't fall for her abuser, bc Alec is a POS. If you're into a medieval romance where the villain is totally irredeemable and obsessed with the FMC then this book is for you. I actually appreciated the love triangle in this since it provided a realistic love interest for the FMC. It also provided breaks from Alec's non-stop craziness. Currently on book 3 and read ( more like binged) the first 2 books in less than 48 hours.

Man what a twisted head game this story turned out to be! Leona does it again! Lord Alec is the religious leader of a small village. He is obsessed with Ella which defies all laws of their religion. Strong arm tactics are used to satiate his obsession. He uses every dirty trick possible to own Ella.
This book chronicles Ella's childhood, how she caught the eye of Lord Alec, the incredibly dark and deviant things he does to her and to keep her, Ella's subsequent rescue, and his determination to comb the world to find get her back. What a journey!
I absolutely LOVED this story! It's incredibly dark and there are instances of physical abuse, non-con, sexual abuse, and plain ole abuse! The story is very well written and I look forward to the next book in this series! Books 2 and 3 are currently available.
Adhere to the warnings. You are reading this story at your own risk! But oh what a risk!! Five glorious stars!

The story started well and had potential, but it was rushed in places without depth and the cruelty was too much for this girl to endure and the fact that she didn't get pregnant after so much unprotected sex with Lord Alec and Duncan?

Worst editing EVER lol. La historia estaba entretenida pero hubiese sido muchísimo mejor si su editor se hubiese tomado el tiempo de guiar la historia de manera más coherente.
