When Kohamaru, whose family has the ability to switch bodies with his or her soul mate, switches bodies with Nanao, the girl of his dreams, he learns that Nanao is in love with his twin brother, who can reverse their transformation with a kiss.
While probably the best volume in the trilogy it still suffers from the same problems as the last two.
The story’s all over the place and the plots with Konatsu were un needed and distract from the story. It makes it more complex than it needs to be. I think the story would be better if he was removed. I do like the volume for its slice of life chapters that actually tie into the story later. Especially the Akane one, very cute. However the ending while enjoyable I guess it was too quick. I think this volume showed what could have been but the story focuses too much but sometimes not enough on the romance that it drags it down. It’s too complicated, and could be easily fixed I feel. However I do get a lot of enjoyment out of it, it’s charming despite its flaws. And the mangaka seemed to be very passionate about their work, as it is their first manga. I can definelty see the passion and for a first manga it’s very good.
This series ended strangely. I like the idea and characters and art, but the story lacked strong execution. I think some of the characters grew a little but honestly not much was there to comment on. Most of the adults in this manga are so negligent in telling their son how this whole thing works, and it just felt like they kept unnecessarily keeping information from our main guy. Overall, I guess it's alright. Not for everyone though.
Nanao still pines after Konatsu, especially since he left to go to America. Hanamaru tells her that he’ll always be there for her. It seems like he might finally get his chance, but then his brother comes back.
On Hanamaru’s way back home, he meets a little girl and finds out that her family has a secret as well. Her family transforms into plants. Ever since he meets her, he forgets things he is supposed to do that involve Nanao. He even is late to her birthday party. His family fears the worse and even resort to taping pictures of Nanao all over the place. Will he completely forget Nanao?
For once, I actually felt bad for Nanao. She usually ends up acting coldly towards Hanamaru, but I think she acts hot and cold because she doesn’t know how to handle how she feels about switching bodies with Hanamaru and her developing feelings for him.
I’ve always rooted for Hanamaru. Konatsu is okay, and I feel bad he can’t switch with anyone. Hanamaru is definitely more caring. Even though, Nanao probably deserved to be forgotten considering how her temper is with Hanamaru, but I still couldn’t help rooting for Nanao.
I still got confused at times, when Hanamaru and Nanao switched, but I like that quirkiness to the series. I really liked how the series ended. I wish there would have been just one more volume to this series, though.
