Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Well, IT'S THE AFRO MAN.
Honestly, i always considered The Foxy arc the only filler arc that One Piece has. It's entertaining though, it's fun. And also, there is the afro. The AFRO baby ❤️

Ah, the worst arc in One Piece. Strangely, I still kinda enjoy it. Oda is once again falling into the whole of writing too much filler content in his canon manga. A sizable chunk of One Piece feels like filler. At this stage of the game Oda is way behind his competition. Other manga, by 33 volumes, have given us far more quality in a far shorter time. Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, DragonBall . . . all are heads and shoulders above what we currently sit at with One piece. It's not close. The man is a genius, but his genius is definitely the tortoise that wins the race. He slowly chips away at this marble to make a statue.

Unfortunately, this was the weakest installment for now, my goodness, it took me almost 2-3 days to finish this volume. This sets place in the Long long island (can't even bother to remember the name) and they had a davy back fight between Foxy pirates and Mugiwara pirates. There were some funny moments, especially the 2nd battle with Zoro and Sanji, but the rest was so boring. This small arc is the arc that I've hated the most. But I was touched by Luffy's determination at the end of this volume. 2.5 stars, too weak, hng!

Une étoile parce que c’est One Piece et une deuxième pour Zoro et Sanji. Mais franchement le Davy Back Fight… 😩😩 nul nul nul. Et quand je pense que ça continue au tome suivant, achevez-moi 😭

Arcs like these are where One Piece just feels so unique. A fun absurd little battle/game with high stakes and fun characters! The Davy Back Challenge is a unique twist on the tournament-type battles that usually pop up in shounen manga, and it’s far more enjoyable to see the Straw Hats try to play by the rules while the other team routinely breaks them. Just a fun volume all around!

Not a huge fan of this whole Davy Back Fight and how things evolve. It just doesn't flow as well as you'd hope, especially when it all just feels like a giant distraction (filler). If you're ok with some silly fun, then you won't be disappointed.

My least favourite part of one piece so far...thank goodness it’s so short

Davy Back Fight doesn't make sense. Not the activity but rather the mini-arc itself. I understand it as an interlude before the magnificent Water 7 and Ennies Lobby arcs. So probably Oda wanted a breather and just have a fun story. For the first time, it was fine. But during this re-read, I was completely bored and there were two moments that I enjoyed; Zoro telling Chopper to man up and then Luffy and his afro. So this was just ok.

This arc is almost as bad as the worst parts of Skypiea. So far, it's filler. I started vibing about halfway through, but I'm barely hanging on here, Mr. Oda!

Also, the casual racism was a little Y-I-K-E-S. I really liked Luffy's boxing outfit, too! Why did they have to give it that weird back story?

Ha sido entretenido y tiene partes graciosas, pero a ver si dejan de ningunear a Nami y bueno el racismo del final ya tal.

One Piece, Vol. 33 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (306–316) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon continues the Long Ring Long Land Arc. The rules of the competition are simple: Foxy's crew and the Straw Hats will face each other in three rounds. Whoever wins a round gets to have someone from the opposing team join their crew, or take the other team's pirate flag. Foxy wins Tony Tony Chopper in a race around the island, but the Straw Hats win Chopper back in a game of dodge ball. Monkey D. Luffy and Foxy face each other in the final round of boxing, which evolves into a battle between Luffy's rubber abilities and Foxy's time-stopping power.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. The crew returns to the Blue Sea with gold and dials from Skypiea, only to encounter Foxy the Silver Fox, a pirate who challenges them to a "Davy Back Fight", a series of games where the winner takes crewmates from the loser crew. Comparatively, this story arc is lighter and much appreciated especially after such a massive and serious as the previous storyline.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 33 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

Volume 33: Chapter 306-316
Saga 4: Water 7
Arc 14: Long Ring Long Land

I think this is the most boring arc ever in One Piece series. This arc is forgettable. I think Oda did it on purpose to reduce the intensity of the storyline. After 2 arcs full of intense, excitement and adventures, Oda wants an arc that can give some relaxation.

Despite the uninteresting storyline and dull antagonist, this arc serve some comic relief. If you want to see Afro Luffy and a 10-second Zoro-Sanji teamwork, this is the arc.

LONG RING LONG LAND ARC - PART 1
1. chopper calling for a doctor and then realising he's the doctor never gets old.

2. one piece is so fucking stupidly funny sometimes. i'm dead because of the man on the bamboo stilts up for 10 years.

3. on planet earth, the tide happens every day for a couple hours. this bamboo guy said that the tide happens once every year. how is the planetary system designed here, i wonder?

4. DAVY JONES' LOCKER? SPONGEBOB?

5. robin thinking luffy looks cool with the afro is cute.

6. this is genuinely one of my favourite arcs

Not sure how to feel about the whole “soul brother” thing. Pretty forgettable, which sucks because I like the premise of the Davy Jones games.

… honestly, with every One Piece volume I have to pause and consider if this will be the last one before I take a long break and continue this series another time. ☠️

Non è un brutto volume ma detesto Foxy e questo mini-arco.
In più le battute ‘afro’ non hanno retto affatto bene il passaggio del tempo…insomma compromesso 3 ⭐️

The. Best. Thing. Ever.

How do you achieve the highest stakes in your series so far?
Putting the very essence of your series as a bet in a dispicable pirate game. Holy crap was I at the edge of my seat!
And to top it off: Long Ring Long Island is the coolest Island ever!
I want a hooooooooorse as well!
And a duuuuuuuuuck!

I remember watching the anime for the first time in 2013 and swearing that this must have been a filler arc and was very disappointed to learn that it wasn't. I'm assuming (hoping) it's just here to cool things down after the epic end to Skypiea and the beginning of the (also epic) Water 7 arc, but wow, I hope this arc never circles around to be relevant. The best parts were Nami being her totally unapologetic, viscous self because that's exactly how I felt reading these chapters.

Foxy and his pirates were not really anything good, yet I enjoyed watching Zoro and Sanji cooperate for once.

Foxy Pirates arc. The absolute worst arc in one piece. Only the ending is important (and kind of unrelated to the foxy pirates). Necessary but horrible.
