My God, this is an absolute masterpiece! I laughed and cried in equal measure while losing myself in this story. First, I must emphasize that experiencing the TV series beforehand enhances the reading tremendously. The actors, Nunew and Zee, embody Khanin and Charan with such remarkable depth that it transforms the reading experience, allowing you to visualize the characters vividly.

Every casting element is spot on, even the actors who play Ramil and Paitay, who breathe life into their roles with great authenticity. Although the TV series takes some liberties with the plot and it's not yet finished, both adaptations—show and book—are stunningly beautiful in their own unique ways. The story centers around Khanin, who unexpectedly learns he is a prince, and Charan, who is given the formidable task of guiding him back to his true royal home.

The setting is nothing short of enchanting. The country of Emmaly artfully conjures the feeling of a fairy tale kingdom, complete with lush landscapes and vibrant cultures that enhance the overall ambiance. The plot is intricately woven with political intrigue, unexpected twists, and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I believed I had grasped the storyline, the author masterfully introduced a new twist, leaving me amazed and constantly guessing. Interspersed throughout the high-stakes action is the poignant love story of Khanin and Charan.

Their romance is the sweetest, healthiest, and most loving portrayal I've ever encountered in literature—no exaggeration! They exude such affection and reverence for one another that I found myself smiling and giggling throughout. Their mutual concern and tenderness in their interactions are truly heartwarming. The singular intimate scene in the novel was charged with passion and love; I can hardly wait for the upcoming art studio scene to be depicted in the TV series.

Let’s delve into the characters—each one, with a few minor exceptions, is brilliantly crafted! Khanin stands out as a captivating protagonist; he is sweet, charmingly mischievous, and exudes a natural allure. Yet, once he falls for Charan, he reveals a tender side, directing all his focus and love toward him. Charan, too, emerges as a compelling love interest. Initially stoic and reserved, he undergoes a transformation upon meeting Khanin, ultimately describing him as his sun—the depth of his love is palpable.

The secondary couple is just as engaging as the primary one, and it's a shame they didn’t receive more page time. Ramil initially comes across as cold and brusque, but as the narrative progresses, we uncover his unwavering dedication to justice. His honesty, often perceived as rudeness, masks a deeply caring individual. His relationship with Paitay is filled with admiration and compassion. Paitay, shrouded in a bit of mystery due to the limited insight into his perspective, consistently reflects on Ramil whenever we are privy to his thoughts. Though his feelings seem somewhat ambiguous at times, it becomes clear by the novel's conclusion that he, too, harbors profound love for Ramil. Their relationship is a dynamic rollercoaster, yet they navigate their challenges with resilience.

In conclusion, this novel is nothing short of magnificent. If I could assign it an infinite number of stars, I wouldn't hesitate a moment. I wholeheartedly recommend immersing yourself in this story and watching the TV series to anyone who craves a love so profound that it leaves you breathless and a plot that will keep you in suspense until the very last page.

This is one of the best books I've read this year. It has a good story development, its moments of action, friendship, hot steamy romance between the leads and it is place in a different and intriguing world of royals. 👑 I felt in loved with the protagonists. Prince Kanin is a sassy, strong and brave character and Charan an elegant, romantic and protective royal guard. Both start as "enemies", but learned to know each other, became friends and started a beautiful romance throughout the story. ❤️ Totally recommended. ✨️

Hayatımda ilk defa bir dizinin novelini okuma fırsatım oldu. Gönül isterdi ki elime alıp sayfalarını çevire çevire okuyayım ama şu an bu pek mümkün değil. Ne yapalım artık belki ileride elime geçer orijinal versiyonu. O kadar çok severek okudum ki bu yorumun tamamını överek bitirebilirim.
Novelin konusuna gelecek olursak ; Emmaly adında dört eyaletten oluşan bir ülkenin bir sonraki kraliyet ailesinin belirlenmesi için varislerin bir araya gelip eskrim ile yarışmasını anlatıyor. Eskrim bu ülkenin eski bir geleneği. Hükümdar ailesinin belirlenebilmesi için dört eyaletinde varislerinin buu yarışmaya katılması gerekiyor. Yarışmayı kazanan varisin babası ülkenin başına geçiyor ve o aile egemen aile oluyor. Mevcut kraliyet ailesi Assavadevathin ailesidir. Ülkenin dört eyaletinden birini oluşturur. Phuchongphisut, Thawichmetha ve Meenanakarin diğer kraliyet aileleridir. Bu dört aile yaşadıkları bölgelerin fiziksel özelliklerine göre geçimlerini sağlamaktadır.
Dhipabawon mevcut kralın adıdır. Tarin adında bir oğlu vardır. Tarin'in yıllar önce Kanin adında bir oğlu olur. Ancak karısı Kunita'nın katılacağı bir etkinlik sırasında suikasta kurban giderler. Kendisini kaçıran adamın (Tattanai) gerçek babası olduğunu sadece Emmaly adındaki bir ülkeden geldiklerini bilmektedir. Oysa gerçek bundan çok farklıdır. Tattanai Kanin'e hiçbir şey söylememesine rağmen onu bir prensin sahip olacağı tüm meziyetlere göre yetiştirmiştir.
Bir gün kral ciddi bir rahatsızlık geçirir ve artık tahtın varisini seçmenin zamanı geldiğini anlar. Bu sebeple krallığın sadık koruyucu ailesi olan Phithakthewa klanının lideri Charan'ı huzuruna çağırır. Dhipabawon, Charan'ı özel olarak yetiştirmiştir. Ona ilk ve son görev emrini verir: Kanin'i geri getirmek. Kanin'in sağ salim Emmaly'ye getirilmesi karşısında Charan artık istediği hayatı yaşayabilecektir. Ancak hesap etmediği bir gerçek vardır : Kanin'e aşık olmak.
Kanin pek çok suikast girişimine rağmen Charan ile saraya dönmeyi başarır. Yeni kimliği, yeni ailesi ve saray ona o kadar korkutucu gelir ki tanıdığı tek insan olan Charan'ın onunla kalmasını ister. Charan görevi başarı ile tamamlamasına rağmen bu sefer kalbinin sesini dinler ve Kanin'in koruyucusu olur. Tarin yıllar önce kaybettiğini sandığı oğlunu bulduğu için hem şaşkın hem de mutludur. Hatta o kadar mutludur ki bu gerçeği 20 yıldır kendisinden saklayan babasına bile kızmamıştır. Önemli olan Kanin'in yaşıyor oluşudur. Kanin başlarda bu sarayı, eskrim yarışmasını prens olmayı kabul etmek istemez hatta Tarin bile yapmak zorunda değilsin der. Ancak Kanin kendisi için çabalayan insanları yarı yolda bırakmamak için yarışmaya katılmayı kabul eder. Diğer eyaletlerin katıldığı bir etkinlikle Kanin herkese tanıtılır. Bu tanıtım beklenildiğinin aksine olaylı geçer. Kimse inanamaz Kanin'in yaşadığına. Hatta Phuchongphisut ailesinin reisi Rachata bunun hile olduğunu Kanin'in yerine başkasını getirdiklerini ileri sürer. Kral isterlerse her türlü testin yapılabileceğini ve Kanin'in gerçek kral soyundan geldiğini ispatlayabileceğini ileri sürer ve eskrim yarışması için tarih belirlenir. Yarışa Thawichmetha ailesinin kızı Eva, Phuchongphisut ailesinin oğlu Ramil ve Assavadevathin ailesinden de Kanin katılacaktır. Meenanakarin ailesinin varisi olmadığı için yarışmayacaktır. Kuzenler birbirleri ile tanıştırılır ve daha önce yasak olan saraya özel bir durum olmadan girememe kuralı yarış gününe kadar kaldırılır. Ramil, Kanin'in varlığından önce olası tek kazanan görülüyordu. Çünkü kimse Prenses Eva'nın kazanması olası görmüyordu. Hatta Meenanakarin ailesinin lideri Waseen bir kadının varis olarak yarışmasını doğru bulmadığını bile ileri sürmüştü.
Bunların hepsi bir şekilde çözüme kavuşur ve her üç kuzenden kendi eskrim takımlarını kurmaları istenir. Kanin'i yarışmaya hazırlarken Charan onu bir an bile yalnız bırakmaz ve ikilinin arasındaki bağlar gittikçe derinleşir. Charan aynı zamanda Morpheus adlı okulda bir sanat öğretmenidir. Ve gerçek yeteneklerini ise onu yetiştiren kral ve Kanin dışında kimse bilmemektedir.
Takımlar belirlenirken Ramil ne kadar hırslı olduğunu gösterir. Ancak babası emin değildir her ne kadar Kanin'i güçlü bir rakip gibi görmese de oğlu Ramil'in kaybetme ihtimalinin olmamasını diler. Bu süreçte Kanin defalarca kez yaşamı ile tehdit edilir ve onun yanında sadec Charan vardır ve onu canı pahasına korur. İkili bu yoğun duyguları artık içlerinde taşıyamaz ve birbirlerine aşklarını itiraf ederler.
Yarış gününe kadar Kanin'in başına gelen tuhaf olaylar bu işte bir terslik olduğunu gösterir. Ramil'in de karıştığı bir takım gelişmelerden sonra gerçek suçluyu ve amacının ne olduğunu bulmaya çalışırlar. Bu olayı araştırırken ve yarış günü gerçekleşen silahlı saldırı ile tüm gerçekler gün yüzüne çıkar.
Ancak gerçekler tahmin ettiklerinden de acıdır. Entrikalar, hırs, güç arzusu ve daha başka pek çok neden Emmaly'deki bazı kişilerin hayatını alt üst eder. Yıllarca bir yalanla yaşadığını öğrenenler, kullanılanlar, yarı yolda bırakılanlar ve hayatları bir hırs yüzünden mahvolanlar...Bir solukta okunan gerçekten güzel kurgulanmış bir kitaptı. 3 Mayıs'ta dizisini izlemeyi iple çekiyorum.

Contemporary royalty romance with fencing. This gave me big “book that I read” vibes, I don’t have strong feelings about it. There’s some political intrigue but it’s not very complex and I guessed the bad guy pretty early on. The second volume has a big lull in the pacing of the story where things stagnate before the plot climax and I almost DNF-ed but managed to push through (though I skipped the extras). Part of the problem is that I don’t care about sports so all the fencing stuff bored me. Knocking off a star for the authors’ hyperfixation on Chakree’s weight. “The chubby butler” this, “the rotund butler” that, bringing it up 5 million times stinks of fatphobia

Non aveva mai infranto una promessa, aveva sempre mantenuto la parola data e Khanin lo sapeva meglio di chiunque altro.
Le gambe del giovane cedettero e il suo corpo sembrò perdere ogni energia, mentre la voce dentro di sé gli urlava di accettare la verità.

Non importava quante caramelle mangiasse, suo padre non sarebbe più tornato da lui. «Ragazzo, quando non sarai più arrabbiato con me, mangiala».
Strinse forte nella mano la caramella e lasciò che le lacrime scorressero libere.
Le prime luci del giorno illuminarono il suo corpo, ricordandogli che la lunga attesa finiva lì. Alzò la mano tremante e scartò la caramella, la mangiò assaporandone la dolcezza. I singhiozzi sommessi si mischiarono al suono del vento.
Ora che l’aveva mangiata, aveva fatto quello che lui gli aveva detto.

Quando ho saputo dell'uscita del primo volume non ho resistito, adoro tutto ciò che ha a che fare con l'oriente e se ciò si avvicina alla Thailandia ancor di più.
Grazie a internet pur non essendo mai stata lì è facile osservare i luoghi di divertimento, le case, il popolo.
Quello che manca è l'interagire tra i coetanei o con chi è più avanti con gli anni e chi ha autorità. Come ci si rapporta? Quale codice di rispetto da assumere nei riguardi dell'altro?
Questo è ciò che desidererei vedere con i miei occhi, perché quello che viene fuori da una lettura è un qualcosa di delicato, gentile che riscalda il cuore.

«Quella competizione non è importante per me, ma tu lo sei…»
«Cosa intendi?»
«Se sei importante per la famiglia Asawadewatin, allora sei importante anche per me».

La storia di Khanin ha inizio venti anni prima e scopre la verità tardi e in un momento in cui aveva deciso di prendersi un anno sabbatico.
L'incontro con Charon lo mette di fronte ad una verità difficile da ritenere veritiera eppure devo sottostare e accettare il cambiamento.
Tante saranno le novità, ma ciò che per me ha reso straordinario questo primo volume è stato il contatto discreto, cavalleresco oserei dire, nei riguardi l'uno dell'altro protagonista che mi hanno fatto battere forte il cuore.

«Andiamo?»
La voce dolce e ormai familiare gli fece alzare la testa.
Il viso di Khanin era punteggiato di goccioline, i capelli leggermente umidi.
Era come guardare un soffice gattino appena lavato.
«Hai il viso tutto bagnato. Perché non hai usato un fazzoletto prima di uscire?», chiese Charan, asciugando delicatamente la guancia liscia del giovane con il dorso della mano, un'azione che sembrava spontanea.
Non era sicuro di cosa lo avesse spinto a farlo, forse il suo cervello, l'istinto o qualcos'altro su cui non voleva rimuginare.
A ogni modo, era successo.

C'è dolcezza, c'è protezione, c'è rispetto, c'è ansia perché devo aspettare il secondo volume per vedere cosa sarà di Khanin e Charon.
Una lettura scorrevole, senza un attimo di noia, coinvolgente, ricca di pathos e vero sentimento.
Una lettura da non farsi sfuggire

In questo romanzo ho trovato tutto quello che volevo e anche di più: una copertina super affascinante, di quelle che ti chiamano al primo sguardo, una trama semplicemente accattivante che porta a continuare la lettura e ad entrare in empatia con tutti i personaggi e i dettagli delle loro vite.

La storia ruota attorno a due protagonisti: il principe Kanin, un ragazzo dalle mille sfumature, ingenuo, coraggioso e con una mente acuta che dimostrerà di avere in più di una occasione. Charan, invece, è una guardia reale elegante, romantica e protettiva. Entrambi iniziano come "nemici", pian piano diventano amici e iniziano una bellissima storia d'amore nel corso della storia.

Ma questo non è solo un romance, al suo interno troveremo inganni politici, segreti familiari, giochi di potere, competizione di scherma che decreteranno stima, lustro e un posto sul trono ad Emmalii, il regno nel quale tutto è ambientato. E mentre Kanin e Charan imparano a conoscersi: le alleanze, le strategie e gli imbrogli per arrivare al trono ci trascinano dentro un mondo in cui ogni azione, ogni sorriso e ogni tazza di tè bevuta insieme ha un proprio significato.

“The Next Prince” è un romance avvincente con momenti di grande dolcezza e molti colpi di scena. Se siete fan delle storie intense questo libro fa per voi.

Absolutely Loved It!
I couldn't put this book down! The story was so engaging and beautifully written. Every chapter pulled me deeper into the characters' world, and I found myself truly invested in their journey. The emotions were raw, the pacing was perfect, and the twists kept me on the edge of my seat.
Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a story that's both touching and thrilling. I’m already looking forward to reading it again!

Read the story before the show aired. Really liked some parts of it compared to the show. But the show was done very well and, compared to the books, the flow of the storyline is much better. Not perfect, but pretty good. The English translation that I read had typos and some parts were not very well edited.

Note to self: I read the English translation in 2 volumes from the Meb book store. Since GoodReads has only 1 version, I am adding a re-read to show that I read 2 parts.

A beautiful story, with two charming characters. I love that kind of plot enemies to lovers, to see how feelings are transforming and growing. This is an entertaining and well-written novel, which keeps you trapped from the first page. A book that I would read again with the excitement of the first time.

O livro como romance faz um arroz com feijão sem tempero, como um drama familiar é raso e como trama política foi pretencioso.

Acho que a autora se empolgou e a habilidade de escrita não conseguiu acompanhar.

Tentou tornar a trama dinâmica adicionando vários personagens sem dar profundidade a nenhum deles, só apareciam para mover a história de acordo com o que a autora precisava.

El libro es sencillamente atractivo, tanto la historia como la pareja principal te inducen a continuar con la lectura. La mayor parte de la historia empatizas con todos los personajes y los detalles de sus vidas.
El final es hermoso y dramático como toda buena historia de romance.

Fue cuestión de fé en el ZeeNunew para poder terminar de leerlo. Historia buena pero narrativa muy aburrida. Solo a partir del cap 24 me comenzó a interesar y para el 30 fue que me gustó (y fundamentalmente por los momentitos que dejaban caer de las parejas secundarias)
