Positive things about the book are:
Many things seem to be different from my screen to the ones described in the book. Probably because the book is an older edition of 2013. Many things have changed since then in Wordpress. Some important menus are the same, for example the Dashboard. The author gives a step-by-step guide on how to make changes on your content using this main menu. Also the text editing tools on post / webpage editor mode seem to be the same, if you haven't switched to block editor. So this book will help those with the classic text editors. There are a lot of examples on how to make changes to add plug-ins, make backup files, etc.

Negative things about the book are:
Many things are different on your screen, if your downloaded plug-ins are different. This is exactly what has happened to me. Also some content in the book is paid, a user needs to buy a plug-in, upload it and activate it in order to follow the author guide. There is also a lot of mention on comments and no mention at all on best practices if you want to deactivate and moderate incoming comments yourself. I would have liked a best practice on that. I feel the different users levels on Wordpress could use more examples according to everyday use.

On the whole it was a useful book to read and it didn't bore me. I have a small experience to Wordpress, so some things were familiar. I am sure a total beginner will benefit from it, if he or she sticks to the examples and workshop exercises given by the author.

I found it very helpful. It helped determine whether worpress.com or worpress.org was better for me. It also made understanding the settings in wordpress.org much easier.
