On the run after his brothers-in-arms betrayed him in the Middle East, the former Delta Force commando has hidden in plain sight in, of all places, the art world. Turns out Dak’s particularly lethal set of skills translates well to hunting down stolen relics across the globe. The money he earns from his eccentric young benefactor means he can afford to lay low and keep moving. Good thing, too, because his former commanding officer, Col. Cameron Tucker, still wants him dead. And has doubled his efforts to track Dak down.
In a last, desperate attempt to lure Dak from the shadows, Tucker somehow uncovers the only thing on earth Dak cares about, the one thing he’s worked so hard to hide, the one person whose memory has kept him alive so far—his ex, Nicole. When Tucker and his mercs kidnap Nicole, Dak fears the worst. But Tucker is willing to make a Nicole’s life in exchange for a priceless Renaissance painting from one of the world’s great masters.
Problem is that painting was stolen thirty years ago . And no one knows who took it or where they’ve stashed it. It could be anywhere in the world.
That’s bad news for Dak, who has only five days to track down the masterpiece, steal it back, and make the trade with Tucker—or Tucker swears he’ll kill her.
Dak knows he’s crazy to take these odds and that the old colonel has surely laid new hidden traps for him. He can almost feel himself in the crosshairs. But he’s got no choice. He knows he has to give his all, maybe even his life, to save the one person in this world he loves.
USA Today best-selling author Ernest Dempsey’s latest chapter in the fan-favorite Relic Runner series ratchets up the pressure from page one. A twisting, turning race against the clock, this story will have you guessing until the end if, at long last, good will finally triumph over evil.
Ernest Dempsey is a huge fan of action/adventure thrillers and science fiction.
He has been creating stories since he was in high school but never published a book until 2010, long after the days of high school were gone.
His action & adventure books come from a lineage similar to Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Steve Berry, and James Rollins. While his science fiction novels are full of influence from Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, The Matrix movie, and Gladiator directed by Ridley Scott.
He is quickly becoming one of the hottest fiction authors in the book world.
Loved the basis for this sixth Relic Runner story. Dak Harper’s work over the past several years has been to search for and recover missing relics for Boston, his wealthy “employer,” so they can be returned to their proper owners. But this time the task is different. Dak has been living his life and doing his work, always ducking discovery by his nemesis, Colonel Tucker, his former Commander in the military. Ever since Dak uncovered and exposed Tucker’s evil deeds in the military, Tucker has been searching for Dak in order to kill him. Tucker has even hired the mercenary, Black Lotus, to kill Dak. Tucker has discovered Nicole, Dak’s girlfriend, and, in order to save her life, he has demanded that Dak find a priceless Rembrandt stolen from a museum in the 1990's, never been found, and exchange it for Nicole’s life. What’s worse, the task must be completed within five days or she dies. With no clues to even begin with, Dak calls on members of his former teams who he has called on before in order to assist him with his jobs. With plenty of unbelievable twists and turns, I found that this story was extremely hard to put down until complete. Just when you have it figured out, the story throws you a curve and you have to again figure out where you are and what has happened. The character interaction is fantastic and blends in with the adventure. Highly recommend this Book 6 in the series.
Thief’s Honor the sixth Relic Runner book is without a doubt the best of the Dak Harper stories, not only is it filled with non-stop action this story begins to tie several elements from the overall series together. I’ll admit to feeling a sense of accomplishment when it was proven that some of my suspicions were correct as the story progressed, however not all my conjecture proved to be correct or even close. Mr. Dempsey has a real knack for providing enough “breadcrumbs” to draw you in a direction – right or wrong is for you to figure out as you read this book. Along with Dak, will and Boston Thief’s hoor has a few other predictable charact4ers as well as some who are very unexpected. If you have read the first five stories in the series, this is a must read. If you are new to this series, you owe it to yourself to go back and start with the Courier so that you have all of Dak’s backstory. I received an Advance Reader Copy from the Author and chose to provide this review.
Relic Runner #6 by Ernest Dempsey is Thief's Honor, in which the eponymous thief Dak Harper has to undertake a desperate race against time, that could be straight out of Mission Impossible. As so often before, Dak's nemesis Tucker seems to gain the upper hand, and Dak must rely on help from friends from past and present to save the one he loves...but what's at stake to do so? And who will betray our intrepid hero?

This is the sixth book in the Dak Harper series, in this book Dak is given an ultimatum by his old C O, who apparently has taken Nicole hostage.
Dak meets up with a few friends and comes up with a plan to deal with Tucker. If you've read other books written by Mr. Dempsey than you will recognize them.
I do think that the ending was a bit rushed, but I very much enjoyed this book and recommend it to others that have read the other books in this series, as well as other books written by this author, you will have a better understanding of the characters involved.
Dak’s former commander, Col. Tucker, in his quest to kill discovers where Nicole, Dak’s former girlfriend and true love is located. Col. Tucker kidnaps her to try and force Dak to do his bidding to save Nicole’s life.
After Tucker gets what he wants he plans on killing Dak and Nicole.
There are many twists and turns as Dak tries to find Nicole and the stolen painting. The story has lots of action and is a thrill ride you will enjoy. You will find it hard to put the book down, I really enjoyed it, I think you will also!!
After the last several years of being on the run, Dak now has the tables turned against him. He must pull off an art heist in order to get his shot at taking out Colonel Tucker. This task comes with a lot of unknowns as well as surprises along the way. Does Dak get the upper hand or does Colonel Tucker finally win?
I recommend you pick this book up and find out because it's a thrill ride from start to finish.
I never really know what to say on these so I rarely write anything. I'm not eloquent by any means so I'll just be me. You know when something is so intensely exciting that it makes you grit your teeth and causes your body to tense up? Well, that's a consistent reaction when reading the Dak Harper series! Juxtaposing that are his softer moments, especially concerning Nicole. Dak Harper is a badass sweetheart you've got to read about!
What can I say except, All of Ernest books are a fantastic read. No matter how many books are in a series, they never get boring. Dak is one of my favourite characters, together with his friends and also another one of my favourites, (no spoiler), unexpectedly helping him with his quest to find a missing Rembrandt and save the love of his life from the clutches of Colonel Tucker. I was totally engrossed in the story from beginning to end.
Dempsey has come through again. Thief’s Honor is a winner. This most recent installment in the Dak Harper series takes Dak on the hunt for Colonel Tucker his arch nemesis. Tucker has kidnapped Dak’s girlfriend and is holding her hostage. Dak must retrieve a famous lost painting in order to get her back. A surprising cameo appearance by someone all Dempsey’s readers will recognize helps Dak achieve his goal. I highly recommend the book.
An enemy knocking on the door gets to tiresome until!
Dak likes to help out when he can friend's become part of his team "when needed" his nemesis his old boss from his days in service now he wants Dak dead. A fast adventure that takes Dak and his team all over the world to find a painting no one appears to have ever seen. Be prepared to duck and dive as he puts himself in dangerous Situations at every turn a great page turned
Dak Harper is a good character for Ernest Dempsey and this chapter in Dak's story included a visit from Adrianna Villa, a character in other Dempsey novels. This story had an intriguing back story and finally brought to an end the relentless pursuit of Dak by his former military commander, Col. Cameron Tucker. Dak ruined Tucker's get quick schemes in an earlier story and Tucker had been pursuing Dak ever since. The story also reunited Dak with his long-lost love, Nichole.
Dak's day didn't start so good, trying to find his nemesis Colonel Tucker He goes into a nightclub to question Manny Lopez a local drug dealer but unfortunately that scenario doesn't end well. Dak and his best friend Will need to leave Miami and fast. While trying to leave Miami he gets a call. The worst kind of call that chills him to his bones. Tucker has kidnapped Dak's one true love Nicole and the terms for her release is to find and give Tucker a missing Rembrandt painting that was stolen in Boston over thirty years ago and hasn't been seen since. With only five days to locate the painting before the deadline ends, Dak and Will pull in all the favours they can. But Tucker doesn't just want the painting he also wants Dak dead. Tucker hires the best female assassin in the world The Black Lotus.
Dak finds himself having to work for his worst enemy after his true love, Nicole, is kidnapped. His nemesis Turner wants Dak to find a Rembrandt painting stolen from a museum over 3 decades ago. If Dakndoesnt bring it to Turner in the next 5 days, Turner wil start sending Dak parts of Nicole’s body. Can he find it and steal it in time?
Great new story, where Dak Harper and his friends are chasing clues around Europe to save the woman he loves. The intersection of the different story lines and actors is brilliant, and adds a new angle to the story.
If you like other stories by Ernest Dempsey, you will not be disappointed.
I know this has been said before, but it needs repeating - this is the best book in this series - very hard to do, but the author has succeeded in many ways! Needless to say, I am a fan of Ernest Dempsey's stories and will keep reading them until there are no more to read.
The Dak Harper stories never fail to provide plenty of twists and turns and constant action. Finally tying up the ongoing issues with Tucker now opens up even more opportunities for the future to which I look forward.
Dak Harper faces a no winner situation. Against all odds he must somehow save the girl he loves. Odds are there’s no way to do this to overcome the impossible set up by Col. Tucker. No way! The penultimate Dak Harper action thriller.
Loved reading this book. Very great paced and kept you wondering what was going to happen. Will and Dak's friendship was on the line and who was going to be the assassin to kill Dak? Would Tucker finally win or Dak or no one?
another hit from Ernest. His characters are exciting and likable. The stories move quickly and keep you on the edge wanting more and not putting the book down till you reach the end
Another one off the charts! I love your books. The stories are so moving. I was really downgraded to know that Will had double - crossed his friend but so happy when it was just another way to get Tucker! Very, very good - as usual!
Plenty of dark side action and suspense. If you like Bourne, Coleman, and Rapp you will love this. Draws you into never ending turns until the very end. Well done
This is Ernest Dempsey best book of Dak Harper series! I can visualize this book becoming a movie. Fast pace, edge of your seat reading. I couldn't put the book down! Love this book! Cannot wait for the next one!!!
