America is currently at a tipping point. There is an ideological battle between the Left Progressive Liberals and the Right Wing Conservatives.
This book illustrates the massive defects in the Right's policies that have led us to the brink of a precipitous fall over a cliff. The book provides the real narrative that should be the balance between the corporation, the government, and the individual citizen. It dispels the notion of the corporation being inherently more benevolent than the government.
Most importantly the book presents a logical solution to the economic woes of the country. Implemented over time the suggested policy changes would ensure that America lives up to the America we all expect it to be.
Did you know: The wealth in this country is unevenly distributed to the top 5% and 1%, not because they are more productive or produce anything of lasting value to society, but because of the structural design of our capitalist society rewarding capital manipulation more so than producing goods and services of societal value.
Keep these numbers in your thoughts.
The top 1% of the population owns 34% of the of our nation's wealth.
The top 5% owns 58.9% of the nation's wealth.
The top 10% owns 71% of the nation's wealth.
The top 20% owns 85% of the nation's wealth.
The lower 40% owns less than 1% of the nation's wealth.
Income is similarly distributed.
Great ideas but could have used more editing and proof reading before publication. Some parts are very specific to the 2010 time frame but the overall thesis is just as applicable today more than a decade after the book was published. It's an easy read and worth a few hours of your time.
Awesome book! Painful, of course, because we the people can't seem to govern ourselves properly. My hope is that we can become responsible and wake up from the American dream, since it is has become a nightmare.
