Seeing Black by Sidney Halston (Book #2: Seeing Red Series) Source: Author Rating: 5/5 stars
Whew!! Sidney Halston wastes absolutely, positively no time firing up the awesome in Seeing Black, book two of the Seeing Red series. Jillian and Xander are officially a couple and are out to set a world record for the number of times they can shag during the “honeymoon” phase of their relationship; as well they should, it took those two long enough to get to couple status.
Everything should be blissful and amazing for the happy couple but there is still that lingering question of Jillian’s father and what he wants from her. While Jillian is adamant she just wants to get to know the man who fathered her, Xander is far more leery and constantly cautioning Jillian to go slow and not jump into anything. Typical of Jillian, she knows far, far better than anyone else and begins to meet secretly with her father. But Jillian is certain the meetings will pay off and her totally not creepy (ppfft!) father has assured her he can help her learn to control her abilities, focus to the point that she can summon her skills when she wants them and not be a slave to their effects. All Jillian has to do is come to his home from time to time to train. Typical of Xander, he finds out about Jillian’s secret meetings and totally loses his cool in a most epic manner. Turns out, all of Xander’s icky and awful feelings were spot on and when Jillian goes missing, he is beside himself with grief and worry.
For Jillian, each and every day is the same: she wakes up slightly confused and has her favorite breakfast foods before training with her father. Though her control is getting stronger and she feels her abilities are growing, she does miss home and remembers that she must call Xander very soon. But, every time one of those errant thoughts occurs, it is morning again and her confusion and day begin again. And then one day, Paul Black is in her room when she wakes up. WTH??? Are you freaking kidding me???? Hasn’t this butthole caused enough trouble for a lifetime???? And that is all I am giving you on this topic . . . .you can thank me later
The Bottom Line: This read is fan-freakin’-tastic and I could not have asked for a better follow-up to Seeing Red. Seeing Black hits hard from the beginning and doesn’t let up one single bit until the dramatic and epic ending. This read has it all: fiery and feisty lead characters, some awesome naughty bits (Xander makes me growl ), some really twisted backstory, an epic rescue scene and, the complete answering of all questions. Halston had me hooked from the beginning and there was no putting this read down until I was done. For lovers of light paranormal, contemporary romance, mystery and suspense and, rockin’ naughty bits, the Seeing Red series is definitely for you. WARNING: These books should be read in order. With that being said, go forth and one-click, you won’t be sorry you did :)

Wow just finish reading this book and let me just that I did not wanted to finish it. I want more O.M.G. I am so in love with this series, I love the characters and the ending was perfect. I have to say this book made me cried a little, but I love every single second of it.
Seeing Black pick right up where Seeing Red left off, while I was reading this book my emotions where all over the place, I couldn't think and I just kept trying to guess who really was the BAD guy, and let me just say that every time I though I had the right answer to it, it just throw me to the other way did not know if I was going back or forward, on trying to guess.
After Jillian, Heather, and the twin Oliver & Alexander, when back to Onion island, that's where Jillian was able to make her decision about the twin, that's is also where Heather found some things that is related to Paul Black her ex and her Father, that's when she finally met her father in person for the first time.
When they all when back to Texas, lets just say that everything started to get a little crazy, Alexander became more protected over Jillian after he met her father, made it really clearly that he did not like or trust her father, but Jillian was not looking at it like that, after they had a big fight the first time of seeing each other was back at the classroom, that's when Paul Black came back to Jillian life, and once he found out that she was seeing her father he told her to stay away from him, this the on thing that Alexander and Paul agree to that was also the last time that she got to see Alexander before she when missing.
Let me just say that for the next few month their lives change, Jillian kept waking up without remembering much, Alexander was suffering, and Paul finally came out clean with who he is, Paul started to help Jillian and he also when to the twins and told them everything he new about Jillian father.
What I love more about this story is that Alexander fought and never gave up on finding Jillian. he knew that she was still alive he kept telling everyone that he fill it. love it how you could get to read it from his point of view how much he was suffering and know how much he LOVE hers.
I really enjoy and love this story and I hope that once you read it that you get to love it as much as I did.
And I am gone say it again Author Sidney Halston THANK YOU for introducing me to this amazing characters and this awesome book. Cant wait to read more of your books.
This book was a hot, steamy bundle of nerves questioning everyone Jill has ever known. Seeing Black is the amazing follow-up to Sidney Halston’s Seeing Red and what a follow-up it was. This book picks up where everything left off in Seeing Red. Jill has everything she could want with Alexander. She is happy and in love and she knows that she is right where she wants to be… Xander’s arms wrapped around her and she is finishing law school. Life is pretty darn great in her world.
Jill has decided that she wants to know more about her mother so she decides finally that she will meet with her father, well that and those darn visions are kind of forcing her to deal with him. She knows in order to keep those of her safe, she needs to comply and spend some time with her dad.
And of course that’s where everything goes haywire. Her dad is a mind controlling ass. And that is putting it mildly. When I started reading this I was thinking how perfect Jill’s life was with Xander. She has no business messing that up just to find out more information about her mother. But what she discovers is that her desire to learn more about her parents mixed with her dad’s strange ways leaves her in such a bad place but completely disappearing is the last thing anyone expects to happen to her.
This book was full of so much angst and suspense, I think I chewed off all of my nails to find out if Jill was going to make it out alive and if she did, would she remember those who loved and cared for her. Would Xander still be there or would he move on? What I didn’t expect is for Paul to show back up in the picture.
This book was amazing and a great sequel to Seeing Red. I wanted more of Xander in this book. I wanted to know what he was thinking and feeling and what it was like to try and piece things together. My heart broke for him when he was alone, shouldering much of the blame for her leaving. I loved the suspense of this book, but it was almost more than my heart could take. This book took you one place with the hints of going to another, but when the drastic shift happens and you end up in that other place, it is overwhelming at best!
Sidney Halson kept my attention through the entire book and I was left in awe of Paul and Xander both for very different reason. I loved that this book was so full of suspense; I didn’t want to put it down. I wanted to make sure Jill ended up back where she belonged. Did she? UGH! You will have to read it to find out. It is well worth the emotional turmoil that sat in the pit of my stomach.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a honest review
Jillian finally is settled into her choice of who she wants to be with. And after being left with the notion of what to come in Seeing Red you know that her journey was not going to be an easy one. However, I didn't expect the amount of drama and 'didn't see that coming' moments.
I never doubted Alexander as I have been Team Alexander from the beginning.
Getting into their groove of happiness is cut short with scheming ruthless fathers, manipulating addicts, insecurities, self doubt and the fear of losing the ones closest to her. Which leads poor Jillian in a scenario where Alice in wonderland meets groundhog day.
With the unlikely hero of Paul Black there is finally hope in her present scenario.
Never giving up hope no matter everyone's doubts, Alexander fights for his love of Jillian and bring back to where she belongs.
Sidney had me pulled in from the beginning and my love for Alexander only grew throughout the whole book. At times some issues felt wrapped up to nicely and some issues felt glossed over but in the end what mattered was the power of love.
Sweet story with a great combination of angst, suspense, drama, hope, passion and love.
Received an ARC and I absolutely loved this book. It tied up all the lose ends. It was beautifully written and I fell in love with Alexander all over again.
I think I was going crazy re-living the day over and over ... i'd have had a heart attack if I did that in the real world.
This was a great follow up to Seeing Red and yet another book that i couldn't put down... yes i dug the match sticks out and re-used them because i couldn't stop myself reading.
I love Xander and I never thought i'd say this but, yes, I loved Paul Black :(
I'm also excited to read Seeing Clearly - Oliver and Heathers story... Those two are just sooo cute.
Xander proves his love for Jill by never giving up and you can imagine the pain and heartache he must have gone through... for months... MONTHS!!!
I'm glad the evil in their little world has been destroyed... and i really hope we hear about the wedding!!
FIRST BOOK~I WAS SEING RED, REMEMBER? Well I ended up almost seeing black before I finished! Almost fell asleep of boredom! I was sad about Paul though! This was better than the first so it got an extra star, as they say...to each his own.
