Rainer Maria Rilke war ein genauer Beobachter der ihn umgebenden Natur, und so entstand eine Fülle von Gedichten vom Werden des Frühlings und dem Reichtum des Sommers, vom Vollenden des Herbstes und der Stille des Winters. Thilo von Pape hat sich in Rilkes Werk umgesehen und reiche Ernte eingefahren, die, nach Jahreszeiten geordnet, nun in vier Büchern präsentiert wird - vier Bücher, die erahnen lassen, daß ein Neubeginn über ein neues Wahrnehmen möglich ist und daß wir auch in Krisenzeiten aus der Begegnung mit der Natur Zuversicht gewinnen können: "Herr: es ist Zeit. Der Sommer war sehr groß."

About the author

A mystic lyricism and precise imagery often marked verse of German poet Rainer Maria Rilke, whose collections profoundly influenced 20th-century German literature and include The Book of Hours (1905) and The Duino Elegies (1923).

People consider him of the greatest 20th century users of the language.

His haunting images tend to focus on the difficulty of communion with the ineffable in an age of disbelief, solitude, and profound anxiety — themes that tend to position him as a transitional figure between the traditional and the modernist poets.

His two most famous sequences include the Sonnets to Orpheus , and his most famous prose works include the Letters to a Young Poet and the semi-autobiographical The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge .

He also wrote more than four hundred poems in French, dedicated to the canton of Valais in Switzerland, his homeland of choice.

Ich kann mit Rilke leider einfach nicht warm werden. diese Sammlung schien auch etwas zusammen gestückelt. Er schreibt schön aber uninteressant für mein persönliches Empfinden.

Ich will Herbst haben. Ich will mich mit Winter bedecked und will mit keiner Farbe mich verraten. Ich will einschneien um eines kommenden Frühlings willen, damit, was in mir keimt, nicht zu früh aus den Furchen steige.

A nice little collection on autumn, though perhaps not the best way to start reading Rilke

Könyvtári selejtezésből mentett, vékonyka kötet, inkább csak füzet, kívülről alig mutat valamit, ugyan hány olvasója lehetett. Vagy inkább hány nem. Pedig megérdemli, hogy lapozgassák. Nemcsak Rilke kedvéért.

Kányádi Sándor kiválasztott tíz verset a Képek könyvéből, és úgy rendezte el őket, hogy történetet adjanak ki: egy magányos öregember visszaemlékezéseit. Plugor Sándor furcsa, kuszának tűnő grafikái pedig túlnőnek az illusztrációk általános szerepén: egész oldalakat, oldalpárokat kitöltő képekben mesélnek el egy nagyon hasonló történetet, amely ugyanúgy a halál felé vezet. Mégsem komor a kötet hangulata, inkább melankolikus.
