It's interesting reading about the screenplay, the fact finding, research etc.; but what makes this book stand out, is the 'what the public thought' section, where the 'converted' are given a platform from which to say how much the Fahrenheit 9/11 changed their outlook on the Republican right, the elections and the media in America. What I found most gratifying was some of the essays in the critique section, that argued that love him or loathe him, you can't say that Moore doesn't love America; and that Moore is just as hyper critical of the sycophantic press and the Democrats as they are all part of the status quo that participated in the great swindle that led to young American men mostly from poor homes being slain in the desert in Iraq... for profit for a few, and taking the deaths of 9/11 in vain and using them as a 'lie' to fight such a war. Great film, great book, great read. 8 out of 12, Four Star read.

I saw this with a friend at the 400 Theatre in East Rogers Park, Chicago. If anything, it was too light and it wasn't harsh enough. We have, after all, invaded two countries on the specious basis of the events of 9/11.

Fahrenheit 11/9, written and directed by Michael Moore
Seven out of 10

Michael Moore is both revered and loathed, perhaps in equal measure, although on the different sides of the political divide.

Although this viewer is decidedly in the Hilary Clinton camp – given the section on Bernie Sanders included in this documentary, perhaps because of that – very opposed to the clown in the White House, the feelings after seeing this feature are more than mixed.
There are excellent points made in this and the other Michael Moore productions – as his adversaries emphasize, indeed, we learn from Fahrenheit 11/9 that Trump had many laudatory words for Roger and Me – though he remarked he would not like it if he were Roger – as did Jared Kushner (who has hosted the launching event for one of the famous documentaries) and Steve Bannon, who was associated with the launching of Sicko.

But there are also many bizarre moments, others that do not seem to throw a light or prove the monstrosity that Moore is trying to suggest – like the moment when he is asking a speaker for the governor of Michigan to drink water from a glass that he claims to have brought from Flint, where the water had caused deaths, disease and a calamity, but which the man refuses to drink, without proving anything.
Then the movie maker takes a truck and fills it with water from the same hard hit town, taking it to the residence of the hate figure, governor Rick Snyder, who does not answer the call at the gate and thus encourages Moore to…use a hose and spread the water from the tank on the lawn near the entrance to the residence…

What was that about?
Did it achieve anything? Some dead grass – maybe – near the gates would be sufficient reason to spend so much fuel, energy and time in the film to prove – again – what exactly?

As aforementioned, for those of us placed in the democratic camp, the film offers moments to enjoy – although for the undersigned, who has experienced the “bliss” of socialism, the praise for Sanders, Cortez and the message that the hard left should get the upper hand is more than scary, preposterous, it is outright stupid: I have seen the extreme left in action and those who support it should read Animal Farm, 1984 and try to live in North Korea and then sing the praise of socialism – communism.

It is amusing to see so many celebrities, experts, political analysts laugh at the idea of the Orange Sphincter – as Bill Maher calls him – and the fact that the Oldest Democracy in the World has come so far as to elect a buffoon is still jocular – from George Clooney to rappers and CNN panel guests.
Michael Moore shares a propensity to show off with his number one enemy, the ridiculous Donald, for he insists on the fact that he had warned that the big liar is dangerous, for he knows the people in states that would eventually vote for him and there can be a calamity.

Then the writer director parades his persona too much in front of the camera, amid the survivors of the Florida mass shooting, at the offices of the Michigan governor, where he goes for a citizens ‘arrest, with handcuffs and all, then at the residence where he preposterously throws some Flint water at the front of the garden – for no good reason – and in too many other instances.
The criticism directed to the leadership of the Democratic Party is justified to a certain extent, but then it becomes as wrong as to make at least this viewer feel like watching a Trump propaganda message…

Sanders has won some states and the subliminal and evident conclusion coming from Moore is that the poor old man has been so abused and cheated.
Bill Clinton was wrong, then his wife and the whole machine that has moved too far to the right, when the good move is towards…what?

Communism?

It is not the open message, but again:

Michael Moore should not just look at Cuba from a distance, as he did when sending the message that the American Health Care System is a disaster – which it is not, even if it faces huge challenges – in Sicko.
He should stay in North Korea!

Not for a day or two, but for a year.
Then he would be justified in singing the praises of the hard left systems and all that they do for the citizens.

Fahrenheit 11/9 exposes many flaws in the system that has brought to power individuals that have outrageously lost the popular vote – in the present case of the ridiculous leader of the world by three million votes – even when the country had voted for Al Gore or Hilary Clinton.
However, the style of the film, the omniscient, ever-present Michael Moore ends up by offering a rather unpleasant experience.

If more people had taken this documentary to heart, we would not be in the mess that we are in at this point in our history. Michael Moore cleverly answers the critics (the typical pundits and corporate mouthpieces) by giving us a copy of the script and a rebuttal to the articles and the coordinated criticism of the documentary. See the film first and get the book if you have any doubts about the agenda of the previous administration.

Perhaps there is a need to examine all the happenings around the event that shook US and affected much of the world, with open eyes and vigilent mind, to see what realy was going on, rather than a frightened acceptance of a story given out and knee jerk reactions.

There is much that was not officially acknowledged or even given out in the supposedly free media of US.

And in the hurry to not look weak, in the instant reaction to hit out at a few conveniently presented targets, you might in fact be the bull that is being shown a red piece of fabric, blind with rage and being played skillfully by the various official mainstream media and officials you trust.

Take a look at the things swept under the rug. Some choice ones are discovered and presented here.

Niets was echter minder waar.

Michael Moore just loves himself doesn't he..... it's a good job that his politics are ok or he'd come across as even more of a tosser than he actually is....

Basically this book is just a script of the film of the same name....

Personally, I found it quite boring towards the end with all the critics and articles. Still, the book's good but only recommendable for people who are really into the movie or topic. But I loved the cartoons :)

My introduction into the world of Micheal Moore(for what its worth). Prompted me to watch the movie and others he has done. I do not like his particular style of inflammatory "journalism", but his work prompts people to think, and we certainly need more of that, if we want any kind of reform.

Apparently put to paper to fortify the case to prevent the re-election of #43 to a second term, THE OFFICIAL FAHRENHEIT 9/11 READER, as did the documentary, apparently failed. W got re-elected, the war with Iraq ran its course and blame was laid on the following president for leaving the war. Not with the administration that started it. Easily recognizable as a money grab to finance future film endeavors, Michael Moore's guide to the Cannes Film Festival winner features the full screenplay, praise and reactions by viewers, praise and reactions by professional reviewers and celebrities, picture and (political) cartoons, and more writings and essays on the topics of the film. The screenplay and the further writings sections are the ones that give the book meaning and the rest can surely be skipped. The screenplay is a bit all over the place and it would probably benefit the reader to watch the move before diving into the pages. Nonetheless, THE OFFICIAL FAHRENHEIT 9/11 READER is a valuable trove of information that all Americans should read, especially those who're looking to meaningfully participate in discussions of what led up to the 20 year US commitment to the Global War on Terror. Go in with an open mind and leave with eyes wide shut.

Can't decide if this is giving the public what they want or a bit narcissistic. The screenplay of Fahrenheit 9/11 written down makes you realise that documentary may not go into enough detail about important stuff (like the exact allegations and evidence about electoral fraud which, if true, is far more important than how much time Bush spent on vacation). Including reviews and emails to the author just feels like padding (but I guess fans might want it). But it seems a bit odd, in the same book, to criticise media coverage and, at the same time, to use almost nothing but newspapers as "evidence" for your arguments. One for devotees of Moore only I fear: But then politics should not run on who you are devoted to maybe.

A book that depicts what supposedly happened. Full of conspiracy theories and that leads us to believe that so much was behind these attacks... an America that no one believed that it really existed. Love Michael Moore, his documentaries and this book.

FAHRENHEIT 9/11

Michael Moore
May 17, 2004

Michael Moore, the political filmmaker turns his line of sight to the Bush administration. It is no surprise, a president that has ties to the Bin Laden family and royal house of saud is on Moore’s radar. Moore argues about the fraudulent circumstances, that elected George bush as the 43rd president of the United States. Moore questions the integrity of our elections. He evidently explains how president bush ignores the warnings of the betrayal by his foreign collaborators, soon enough the terrorizing event of 9/11 occurs before the eyes of the Bush administration. Now Michael Moore argues about how George Bush used this tragic event to push the war in Iraq and afghanistan for his own personal agenda and gain. Finally, the filmmaker interviews a lady by the name of Lila lipscomb and interviews her about a heartbreaking tragedy of her son in iraq.

Michael Moore and others are harsh and tough on Bush and republicans because of their decline to favor the American people.

Moore said we should not vote for republicans in the upcoming years because of what the bush administration has done. I personally do not think all republicans are evil and stupid. Michael and other important people in the book kind of generalized all republicans as bad due to the fact that George W Bush is a republican. I certainly believe this is due to his one sided view on political issues. Even though republicans are somewhat complicit in the rise of George w Bush it’s still not smart to overlook them and generalize them because everybody has a different view on certain issues no matter what party they are affiliated too.

The author is explains his claims evidentially, but also leaves chunks of his bias as well towards not only Bush; but republicans overall—“After all friends don’t let friends vote republican”.

This author presented why he has a bias towards the Bushes, but he didn't explain about his bias towards republicans, evidentially. He never said anything like, “ if you vote republican they will vote Bush once again”. I feel like he should’ve been more neutral even though he’s a left-leaning filmmaker. Sometimes we have to set our bias aside to attract the likes of everybody, that’s why everybody is compelled to evidence and not rhetoric. Which this book does have quite the evidence, but fact checking the evidence is another essential necessity for discovering the truth under the bias of one’s perspective

This book illustrates the bush administration as evil and a failure to the American people. Moore and others suggest that the bush administration was not in favor of the his own citizens. “That I’m supposed to blame al Qaeda. Lila Lipscomb: “The al Qaeda didn’t make a decision to send my son to Iraq”. This statement is true, but remember someone in that terrorist organization made the decision to take her son away from you. George Bush maybe was complicit in sending him there but then everybody can be complicit. Maybe if she stopped her son from joining the military he would’ve never died, so does that make her complicit. Maybe the person who ordered her son to be in that helicopter at that time is complicit as well. The guilt is on everybody’s hands?

I totally think this book is shocking if this is the first book you’ve read about George Bush and if you are conservative that supported George Bush, you will definitely feel a little pressure on your own friendly opinion about him. You will be disappointed and maybe your opinion on him will differ. When I started reading about this book I didn’t have a very strong opinion on him. I just didn’t like him because he had a disastrous economy and a very high unemployment rate. Now I know he had way more on his hands. You will learn about how disreputable Bush has been over the years. I say this because of his ties with the Bin Ladens and the royal house of Saud, but also because of his ties to businesses that would make tons of profit from the war on terror and 9/11.

Your opinion may drastically change. You have been warned.

Frames his perspective well and outlines how it got to the point it did.
Being a Michigan author was a draw, and there are some insightful components within the covers.
Can't say I'd read it again, or that I would recommend it, but it is what it is- his right to express his views and those he's interviewed.

Was it all just a dream? This screenplay reader takes you back to and adds meat to the bones of the incendiary film. Even 16 years on it is hard hitting stuff. The second half of the book contains all of the evidence upon which Michael's film was based, especially important in this era of 'fake news'.
