Stella Ciaramitaro spent the last year battling a disease that tried to take her life…and take her away from her four crazy, pain-in-the-butt sisters, occasionally suicidal father, and career as an Emergency Room nurse. Stella’s disease wreaked a lot of havoc, leaving her with visible and invisible scars, but she’s hanging in there. Doing just fine, actually.
Or she was until HE showed up.
Nathan Drazek is a mess and he knows it. A childhood full of mental and physical abuse, four tours in Afghanistan, and ten years policing one of the toughest beats in East Cleveland have left him aloof and nearly incapable of interpersonal relationships. But that’s okay, because Nathan isn’t interested in anything more than just getting by.
Or he wasn’t until SHE showed up.
From the moment Nathan nearly arrests Stella, sparks fly, limits are tested, and boundaries are shattered. A tenuous, tender friendship quickly evolves into something powerfully passionate they cannot wish away or control. As they grow closer, new issues arise and old hurts resurface, threatening to destroy their fragile new beginning.
With everything at stake, Nathan and Stella must ultimately decide which runs deeper: their scars or their love.
I must say I quite enjoyed this. I am in “Outlander” mode at the moment but was out and about being a "taxi-mom" for my lads and was waiting for them and realized I did not have my kindle with me. SHOCK, HORROR, I hear you say. Indeed lassies it was. BUT, I did have my phone with me. I never read on my phone but desperates measures were called for. Did not have my Outlander book on my phone but did have this one… OK, rambling a bit here.
I really enjoyed it. Poor Nathan, tortured hero. Stella, sassy heroine. Both had issues. Nathan, of course, had really bad issues. He was so stubborn! Bless her, Stella would not give up on him. I might have but he was a strapping 6 foot 3 hunk of manhood so I guess one could be patient.
"There’s something crazy that happens when you really connect with someone …"
Loved her family. Well, this was short and sweet. Now, its back to Jamie Fraser.

★Review★
I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this book.
The entire tale hit on topics not normally covered in a contemporary romance.
Yes, there are plenty of tortured hero's with a sad past, they are ten a penny tbh.
But there was something about this book that gave it a very unique feel.
Nathan has a horrific past - and as such, keeps himself closed off, and almost emotionless, expect for those times he has to feel somehow, even if that feeling is pain.
Stella has had her own battle to fight, overcoming breast cancer and living with the effects of the surgery to her sense of self.
Dealing with issues such as cancer, abuse, OCD, self harming etc it still managed to retain an almost "sweetly romantic" feel to it, especially in the beginning.
Experiencing these two broken people, slowly come together was beautiful.
What stopped it being a 5?
As I say, loved how Stella and Nathan were portrayed for the most part, and loved the secondary characters.
But - Nathan could be awful when certain things happen to him - he is like a big injured bear lashing out (not in a physically abusive way at all - so do not worry about that), but he has such a poor view of himself - he moves to hurt those he loves in a misguided way - to save them from himself, in a way he thinks would be unforgivable.
And at times when he did this, Stella was just to quick to burst into tears for me. I am not heartless, she has had a tough couple of years, and yes I could see her doing that, but sometimes it felt like she needed to just halt the tears and kick his ass.
Also, I would have preferred for the drama toward the end to have not happened, and Nathan to have come to the realisation of what he stood to lose more naturally, as he seemed to be doing so anyway.
There was just too much surrounding a certain plot line that felt unbelievable
But overall a good 4 stars that made me happy at the end. Definitely a re read for me.
I laughed.. cried...smiled.. then frowned and and got pissed. Just... such an amazing story!!!
Nathan may be sex on a stick.. but he's pretty messed up. A horrible childhood being moved around the foster system, to being an army vet that's seen horrible things... to being a police officer that see's hell in different forms all the time.. Nathan is a wounded man. He lives in a bare house with a bare life. There's no color... everything is just grey around him. He's got his best friend and police partner... he has girl that he gets off with for a few minutes every week.. but he's a lonely lonely man and my heart broke for him. Well.. it broke for him when he was not being a major ass.. and he was several times.
Stella... now Stella was such an awesome character! This girl.. she has been through some really really tough times. Facing breast cancer head on and fighting.. facing something all women know is a possibility and I thought the author did an amazing job of showing what a woman might go though.. body issues, wondering if she'll ever have man that could see past her scars... But Stella had an loud, fun, and crazy Italian family that loved her like crazy. Stella was such a strong opinionated character that spoke her mind.. a lot! I seriously loved Stella.
“It shouldn’t have mattered. It was only skin and fat and cancer. None of that should have mattered. None of it has anything to do with my self-worth and the things I have contributed, and will continue to contribute, to the world. I love myself and I have many people who love and appreciate me.”
The chemistry between these two was sizzling. Both tried to fight the attraction since both had issues... Nathans struggles with PTSD while Stella struggles with her body image and if her cancer will ever come back... but Stella was willing to fight for Nathan once she realized he didn't see her scars when he looked at her.. he just saw her.
At the end of this story I had a huge smile on my face.. I adored it and I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
I liked this. It was a little slow at times, and I didn’t love all the secondary sister filler, but I thought the relationship development was done really well. It was also a roller coaster of feels sifting through all the emotional and physical baggage these two were lugging around.
The blurb sets this up, Stella Ciaramitaro is a cancer survivor and trying to accept her new normal and some insecurities with her body. She also has some trust issues from a previous relationship when she meets Officer Nathan Drazek during a call. Nathan has his own issues, and they are plentiful. He suffers from MAJOR trauma stemming from horrible childhood abuse and PTSD from his time in the military. He has difficulty with intimacy and trusting people and pretty much has one friend from his time in foster care that he trusts.
The Good- 🟩The characters are vulnerable. They discuss fears, insecurities, show emotion, etc. Vulnerability generates feels. 🟩 Through all their relationship turmoil the author always demonstrated their maturity and love. Especially Stella (because Nathan needed a lot more work) displayed tremendous patience, support, and understanding. She pushed a little too much than I think would be ideal from a therapeutic standpoint at times, but this is fiction, and she always showed up. 🟩 Nathan wasn’t fixed magically with sex. It took most of the book, self-reflection, support from friends, and eventually therapy.
The Not-so Good- 🔴 Nathan has A LOT of trust problems that make him very irrational at times (he’s a runner) and may be too much for some readers. One example, he sees her peck his best friend and assumes they’re doing it behind his back. I understood how it would be normal for him to lash out, but I felt like he got stuck in this cycle a bit too long. 🔴 The ending felt a smidge contrived and melodramatic. It felt we were running out of pages, so the author threw in a couple of plot devices to push where we needed to go, and I wish we would’ve got there earlier in the book more naturally.
Bottom Line- If you enjoy a flawed H that generates loads of feels while he torments the h with his emotional baggage, then give this one a try. But if you have ZERO patience for someone being an asshole because they don’t let anyone close to them because they have unresolved trauma, then I’s skip it.
Safety- There is one scene before the H meets the h on page with an OW. I believe this is to show us how much he struggles with intimacy and to illustrate later how different it is with the h. It is mechanical and he struggles throughout to even finish because he is so uncomfortable. I don’t think he even takes his shirt off. (he has whip/burn scars)
I was enjoying this one except for something that is a no go for me. The H runs, the h chases! He's got issues I get it but really I can't deal with his reaction to her call after their triple date but especially after she admitted her situation to him, they have sex and she gives her speech and he takes it the wrong way and is ready to storm off. Just not my personal cuppa. Bummer!
The H of book 2 was such a crude MANWHORE!!!!! that it's probably best if I stop here anyway.
I loved this one. I loved the characters and after reading this one I bought the next book, although it doesn't get as good reviews. But I just want to revisit Stella and Nathan and their little girl.
Stella is one of 5 girls in a boisterous Italian family. She works as a nurse in an emergency ward and has recently recovered from breast cancer. After having one of her breasts removed and her last boyfriend dumping her while she was sick, she's a little gun shy about dating again. That is, until she meets Nathan and he has to wrangle her away from beating up her little sisters' rotten ex. They keep meeting and Nathan's partner (and only friend) Danny decides to do what he can playing matchmaker. But Nathan's a difficult guy to get to know. He's had a rotten childhood and doesn't really live his life but just survives. When he meets Stella he just can't resist the chemistry. She chases him a little because he is so resistant to getting involved. So scared of opening himself up and maybe hurting someone like his horrible dad. SO I didn't mind her chasing him a bit, because the book would have probably covered years if the ball had been left in his court ; )
I found the characters to be so dynamic which made the story less predictable. It's a little slow to start but once Stella gets going, the story was engrossing. Nathan is just such a messed up spiritually wounded guy and Stella is a bit bruised in spirit too. But together they don't wallow in self pity but just enjoy each other's company. Nathan starts to open up by doing little things for Stella. It showed how he thought about her all the time.
Even after they have a bad falling out, he is still doing little things for her. He thinks he's being anonymous, but everyone knows it's him mowing her lawn and fixing her outdoor lights etc. He's like a thoughtful stalker.
There's one part about 3/4 in that will make the book a no go for some people. I thought it fit with his character's hangups.
The ending was a bit more traumatic than I like. I hate life/death situations. But it served to break the stalemate between them.
If she was surprised by his abrupt question, she didn’t show it. Stella just lifted a shoulder and replied, “I’m not sure, to tell you the truth. I guess I thought we could be friends.”
“I don’t want to be friends . I have enough friends.”
Run away. Get away from her as quickly as possible. Run. Now.
Their eyes remained locked as Nathan stayed right where he was. They did their weird staring thing again. For a long time.
Until she finally whispered, “Do you feel it? Nathan, you feel it too, right?”
Nathan slowly shook his head.
“Please don’t lie to me. Don’t pull any macho BS with me. Please.” She scooted closer and Nathan instinctively moved away. She scooted again. “It’s only us here . You can tell me. I won’t tell anyone. And I don’t want anything from you. In fact, I really don’t want anything from you. I just want you to tell me that it’s happening to you too. Because I feel like I’m going crazy.”
4.5 RATING- I've had this book on my TBR list for a while and am so glad I decided to finally read it. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. Several of my GR friends gave this book very high marks while several others rated it only average. Well...I loved it!
The story was both heart breaking and beautiful. Nathan was maddening at times and irresistible. Stella was strong and vulnerable. Some readers may think that she allowed Nathan to walk over her and while she did allow certain things, Nathan always gave her more than enough reasons to keep fighting for him.
I loved the dynamics of all the sisters and the craziness of their large Italian family. Danny was a great best friend and balanced out Nathan perfectly. The story was well paced throughout and I was pulled in from the very beginning. There wasn't a lot of background to read through to get to the actual story. There were some minor editing issues, typos, etc but nothing that detracted from the story. Also, I will admit that the story features a lot of dysfunctional drama that in real life, I'd have to take issue with. Since this is fiction and romance, perfectly acceptable.
Overall, it wasn't perfect, but it was a great romance. Some sweet, some sexy, and a lot of heart! I'm excited to see there is a follow up book featuring Danny and Kat, All of You, that is already released. Definitely going to the top of my TBR list!
Genre: Drama romance. Broken/scarred leads. Cover: 5/10 Writing style: 7/10 Heroine: 8/10 Hero: 8/10 Amount of humour: 3/10 Amount of jealousy: 3/10 Hotness: 7/10 Romance: 7/10 Ending: 9/10 Extra book Details: 1st release from the author. Kindle/Amazon freebie.
BLURB: Nathan craves order, structure and stability. His job as a police officer is his life. He keeps to himself and has a quiet intensity about him. His personal life screams solitude. He cleans, thoroughly. His sex life consists of a 15 minute session every Friday with a duller than life runner. He suffers from shame and self-loathing.
Stella has been through a heavy 6 months, after finding out she had breast cancer, not only did she have to endure sickness, but she had to have a mastectomy and suffer a romantic break up in the middle of it. Terrified she'll be rejected again, being 'half a woman'. She keeps men at bay. She's getting better, and is still the feisty spitfire she has always been. She's an italian-american nurse, with a louder than life bunch of sisters.
When the two run into each other, they just can't resist the pull, but their broken personalities clash something fierce.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
OK, maybe not sooo original, the characters and broken and scarred, dealing with their pasts, him more so than her, he's never been in a relationship, and they both struggle with their feelings and there's that bit of obvious conflict that will eventually arise. Maybe a little long for a book with not a lot of plot. AND, as a (what looks like) long-time Kindle/Amazon freebie, it's got quite a few errors.
BUT... The characters were good, quite refreshing, there was heart wrenching moments that hit the spot lightly, the sex scenes were good, the side-characters were also. I liked Nathan's relationship with his partner Danny. The drama wasn't OTT and kept me reading.
Wow. I LOVED this book! The MCs were amazing. I loved the connection they had. Their romance wasn't easy. And we have a character with major issues and hallelujah he actually gets professional help instead of being cured by her love and lots of sex.
This is a book I will re-read many times and I can't wait to read the next in the series.
I adored Stella and her sisters. Stella was a spit-fire who had her own insecurities to deal with but met them head on. Her love for her family and Nathan was wonderful.
Unfortunately, Nathan pushed the limits of my patience too many times. My heart broke for him and all he had been through in his life but at the same time, he said such horrible things when he felt backed against the wall that I started to hate him. (Isn't that harsh!!???).
I wish Stella had done this a few times and called it good:
7/7/15 - Jeez, I love this story! Beautiful! Stella and Nathan were meant to be. Have to think about what to write for this review, but I loved both main characters!!!! This one hit me real hard...
***POSSIBLE SPOILERS PRESENT WITHIN REVIEW***
7/13/15 - This book undoubtedly stole my heart! So phenomenal were this author’s characters that I was blown away by their strength and charisma as they survived life’s hard knocks. One, feisty as all hell Italian woman, lives to protect her friends and family as her health could be in jeopardy once again. While the other, tough as nails Polish male just hanging on by a thread, fights to forget the past and punishes himself relentlessly for being weak and not protecting his family from darkness when they needed him the most. Both main characters picted my interest as the author told their stories. Slowly as she let the reader into their lives bit by bit, heartache is definitely apparent. This is not a book to be read lightly. Yes, there are some humorous moments, but darkness comes to light as the reader is devulged some horrifying truths. It’s sad and painful to read at times. And, the tears did come. Oh, did they come! And, that climax? Wow! It was heartbreaking! I cried a river, and boy was I mad at him!! But, did everything work out in the end you might ask? Just read it! You will love this novel just as much as I did! The feisty ER nurse who meets the one man who can tame her as she proves to this stubborn brooding ex-military/cop that he is worthy of love and forever. They were perfect together! They really needed each other, and Ms. Sorelle made it happen. It was writing at it’s best! I had no idea what was going to happen coming into this book, but what did happen made me smile!!! It was a feel-good book when all was said and done...
“Stella, you uh...you saved me. Seriously, I was dead inside before I met you and I know I would have stayed that way. You never gave up on me even when you should have. You love me unconditionally and help me see the good in myself. You are my best friend, and I am so lucky I get to spend the rest of my life with you.” – Nathan (Chap. 34)
“You saved me too. You made me feel beautiful when I thought that was impossible. You put up with all of my BS and antics and dramatics and love me anyway. And, you are my best friend and I am so lucky I get to spend the rest of my life with you.” – Stella (Chap. 34)
Not only is the hero (Nathan) such a huge douche, it's hard to believe that any woman would put up with his crap, especially with what he pulls at the end. For one thing the guy has serious trust issues. His cop-buddy pecks his girlfriend (Stella) on the cheek and he instantly accuses them of screwing each other. After a night of lots of sex, Stella's ex shows up uninvited after having been out of her life for a year, and right off the bat Nathan believes she asked him to come over; that's she'll drop him and go back to her ex. And this guy's a cop? Talk about a guy who's jealous, stupid, and a total ass. I understand he has a lot of problems, but this is just beyond ridiculous. If anything, he came across more of a whiny chick than a real man. As for the heroine, Stella, I wasn't a huge fan of hers as she just rubbed me the wrong way. What really irritated the crap out of me was (1) Stella falls in love with Nathan instantly, and (2) Stella, who's unable to have a baby (so she's been told) because of the chemo and radiation therapy she's had to beat breast cancer, believes that since she can't get pregnant it's okay for the two of them to go at like rabbits and not use any condoms. But then guess what? Tah-dah! She's pregnant! Give me a fucking break! Cue eye-rolls - many of them. You can't tell me that you didn't see that one coming a mile away? If that wasn't bad enough, Stella also gets shot putting her and the baby at risk, but of course they survive. Hey, I'm all for a HEA but this is just a little too much. All of this made their relationship come across as unrealistic. I just didn't think they came across as a couple who are supposedly so in love with each other.

Edit 26/01/21: I cringed everytime I read my old reviews because you can tell what I was obsessed with at the time. i.e. HIMYM and Skyrim.
Oh Shit! That was an awesome ride!!!!!! I love it! I love it! I love it! Reading this book has rendered me wanting to finish every sentence with an exclamation mark!
Nathan Drazek was an amazing hero, despite his issues. And Stella, I respect the hell out of her. Man, this has been the book where I both love the hero and heroine in a long period of time. I can't believe I found this grand soul gem here! I was practically inhaling the pages by pages and it was LEGEN-waitforit-DARY! LEGENDARY!
Has an interesting premise about a very tortured and damaged hero who is afraid of intimacy and the heroine who enters his life and shows him how to love. Unfortunately the hero needs major therapy. He has a horrible temper and verbally attacks the heroine who wants the best for him. I almost ended up throwing this book against the wall because the hero does something very horrible to the heroine toward the end. His reaction to something that happens to the heroine make him a sad, pathetic character and at that point I felt the heroine would have been better alone than stay with the hero.
The HEA is all pat and tidy but I couldn't believe it. The hero would continue to make the heroine's life miserable because of his trust issues and being emotionally unstable because of his past.
February 2018 Rereading for the ??? Time Absolutely one of my favorites. I love Nathan and Stella with equal measure. This read is a guaranteed win for me every time.
October 2016 Reread word for word again. Love it. :)
October 2015 just as great on the reread.
Original review: I loved this book. Storyline, hero and heroine. I needed a tiny something more toward the end in regards to reunification and Nathan's realizations. But I loved it none the less. Looking forward to the next installment and hopefully seeing these friends show up in the next story too.
These characters, with their particular backstories, had serious issues that I wanted to see explored, especially Stella. I thought it did go pretty well at first but then Nathan began grating on my nerves and testing my patience. The last section was a bit melodramatic and kind of a copout. Like what would have happened had that incident not occurred? Would he have kept the same path or finally grow a pair? I don't know.
This book immediate caught my eye. While reading the synopsis, I realized this was going to be something different. I was in the mood for an emotional read and man-oh-man did I get one.
And so here they all were – one big, happy family: Stella, her uniboob, and her overactive brain…slogging through. Getting by.
Stella is smart, vibrant, beautiful and so full of spirit. I loved her character. She’s a cancer survivor, but the image she sees in the mirror everyday is still hard to get use to. After her last relationship, which was absolutely broke her heart, she wasn’t really in the market for another disaster. However, when she meets Officer Nathan Drazek, trouble finds her.
And he was twisted up. Twisted up, fucked up, jacked up…he was every kind of “up” there was.
I’m not really sure how accurately describe Nathan. I love him, but I also wanted to slap the shit out of him. He’s got a traumatic past that truly fucks him up. He’s not the relationship kind and he’s definitely the last person to think that he’s deserving of any type of love. This man has severe issues. He works hard, fucks hard, form no attachments type of man. He likes control over his life. What he feels for Stella is something he’s never felt before and he fights like hell to ignore them. He doesn’t want to feel this way about someone. He doesn’t like the lack of control she causes.
Sweet Jesus, the man was beautiful. In a hard, sad, separated way. And the way he was standing – long legs apart, muscled arms across his chest, staring down at her like that – was enough to make any woman swoon. Even women who’d sworn off swooning.
This book was emotional, yes, but it wasn’t as overpowering as some might think. What was overpowering was Nathan. OMG. He’s one of the most stubborn Heroes I’ve ever encountered. No worries, you get plenty of steam in this book, but the way Nathan constantly denies and fights his obvious feelings for Stella really broke my heart. I understood his hesitance, but seriously, it took everything Stella had to break through his brick wall.
I enjoyed this book for the most part, and apart from the numerous editing issues, it was a good read…that is if you don’t mind a stubborn ass, Alpha Hero like Nathan.
I can't believe I've had this book on my Kindle for over a year and am just now getting around to reading it. I loved it! The storyline, the characters, the Italian family aspect......just awesome!
Stella is an ER nurse who is one of the best female heroine's I have ever come across. She is strong, sassy, sarcastic, bullheaded, stubborn, funny, and just so cool! She has also dealt with some medical issues which most people would have let bring them down....but not her. She bounced right back and took life by the horns! She's not looking for love, seemingly content with her job, friends, and amazing family, but then Police Officer Nathan Drazek bursts into her world and there's no looking back. Or as she likes to call him, Sergeant Stickler! Hahaha! Loved that!
But Nathan has his own issues, a shitty childhood, foster homes, military tours in Afghanistan.....all of which have left him a broken man, but also a solid police officer with no intention of having a social life, a family life, or even a happy life. He is so serious and totally by-the-book. Sigh.....I loved him! And I really loved how Stella handled him.....she was upfront and made him squirm A LOT!
One of the best aspects of this book to me was Stella's Italian family, especially her four sisters.....wow, they were just an amazing support system for her and they all had real stories behind them. Nina was a cop with a lesbian girlfriend, Gigi a wife and mother, Fi was coming out of an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, and then of course, Kat, a geneticist, who also suffers from MS. These girls were so feisty and I loved all their interaction between each other. Yeah, and her Dad was also a sweetie!
This book had lots of excitement and I seriously couldn't stop reading it. I definitely have All of You (Book #2) in my future, because OMG, it's about Kat and Danny! Danny is Nathan's partner.....he's known Nathan since they were children and he also grew up in foster homes. He is a total womanizer, not looking to settle down, but also a sweetheart underneath it all. Can't wait to see what happens with them!
Oh my god..I loved this story and I hope I don't give too much away in my review..
I absolutely loved these characters. Nathan is a sexy as hell, very by the book (Sargent stickler), loner and lonely, doesn't have social skills, sweet and amazing guy (he just doesn't know it). Stella is a sexy, tough as nails, kick butt, I take no shit from anybody but Is a compassionate women who's been through hell and back and doesn't want her heart broken.
When these too meet sparks fly but neither will acknowledge until they can dwell on it later when they are alone. They both choose not give their hearts away, Stella because she was hurt in the worst possible way (I wanted to smack the hell outta her ex) and Nathan because he doesn't believe he is worthy of love or happiness. I cried for both these characters they are amazing in their own ways. Stella has her rambunctious family and Nathan has his one friend Danny who is the only person that knows what Nathan went through but even Danny isn't close to Nathan. I just wanted to hug Nathan, I wanted him to have Stella and love and be loved but sometimes it's not that easy. As their friendship progresses to something more Nathan breaks down his barriers only to put them back up when she gets too close. Stella wants to heal Nathan's emotional and physical scars but she can't get close enough. When Stella puts herself out there and shows Nathan her secret I felt for her, she kicks ass in that part. Nathan is in awe of Stella he just doesn't know how to show it. This story takes you on a emotional journey of love, trust, family, hope, patience and so much more. I want to share more but you got to read it yourself, my heart is still so full with these characters and I don't want to ruin any of the story. I absolutely loved this story and hope Danny gets his HEA and Kat they both deserve it. The author kicked butt in this story, she is a amazing writer. 5 huge stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com
Loved this book. A great story about a breast cancer survivor, scared of how men will react to her being "one boob down," now with a lump on the second breast that she hasn't had biopsied yet. She meets a child abuse survivor (he makes what Christian Grey endured light weight) who is now a Cleveland policeman. They find somewhat common ground in their scars, both mental and physical and begin a very tenuous relationship. She, who has gone through therapy and has the help of a loving, large Italian family, makes the transition fairly easily from scared to enjoying the relationship.
The policeman, on the other hand, also an Afghanistan soldier, has a much more difficult time putting his past behind him and is terrified of becoming his terribly abusive father all over again and is also suffering PTSD from the war. Something that should be a very happy event triggers all of his anxieties to rise to the surface and he bolts the relationship.
The main story involves her trying patiently to convince him that he wants and can have a real family with everything that entails.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and liked the strength that both the main characters exhibited. Maybe, just maybe, he was a little too over the top, but it certainly didn't detract me from really liking this read.
This was a solid 3.5 stars rounded up to four. We will get to why it didn't make 4 in a bit.
All of Me is a sweet story of Nathan and Stella, both trying overcome their pasts. Nathan was so horribly abused as a child, plus several tours in Iraq, he doesn't know how to have a relationship with another person, let alone a girlfriend. He lives his sterile life as a police officer trying to hold it together. He meets Stella who has problems of her own. I loved Stella and her family. She was brave, gutsy and didn't take any crap. Although, she did cry all the time . I think her eyes welled up at least 10 times.
Now what prevented me from not giving it 4 stars. It was the sex scenes. I have to commend the author for not giving us filler sex scenes. They were well placed in the book and they were steamy. Then I ran across the words expulsion and undulated (2 times) and it was like throwing cold water on me and totally ruined the mood for me. UGH!!
I thought the story was going to be predictable, but it wasn't. I absolutely loved the pull and push they had with each other. All in all, it was a good read.
Wow, this book was such an emotional read for me. I have had this book on my kindle forever and I kept skimming over it for whatever reason. Yesterday I picked it up on a whim and I am so glad I did!
First of all let me say I only had one issue with this book and that was the editing. I am not really a stickler but this had some big editing issues. Honestly though, I loved the story so much I was able to look past them.
This story is about a woman who has recently went through some personal trauma but who is a fighter and who is also a kind loud pushy talkative optimist with a flair for diving into all situations head first. I liked her. Like really liked her.
This is also a story of a broken man. Who has lived a full lifetime of trauma and has decided on a life of solitude. He is full of self hatred and can most certainly be a jerk but he is also loving and sweet and struggles with his emotions on a daily basis.
This book got me from page one. I could not put it down. And the ending was just perfect and I ate it all up!
3.5 Sometimes you enjoy a book even though it's slow paced and read at the same speed throughout, Up until chapter 25 this was the case, then my reading sped up and it really kept me turning the pages. The subject matter and the tortured past of Nathan was horrific and i seriously thought Christ what the hell??? Abusive childhood? Nightmares? Self loathing? Self harming? Physically scarred? Mentally scarred? This guy is a no go zone. But then he only goes and makes Stella who has had a unilateral mastectomy feel sexy desired and beautiful. Then you think mmmm this guy could be a bit of a sweetie if he got help, I might give him a go. I did. I liked him. A lot! It turned out to be a sweet love story between 2 people who had issues, one who had a hell of a lot more than the other.
This was a romance. The book focuses completely on the relationship between the hero and heroine. We get to see them fall in love. We get to see sexy times.
And we get to see 2 people who have suffered in their past, learn to love each other unconditionally. Hot cop and ER nurse.
I give the author credit for having a heroine with a mastectomy scar.

It's not very often that I can ignore some really bad proofreading mistakes because the story is just so damn good. This is one of those books. I urge....no, beg Gina Sorelle to get someone to professionally polish this book.
I really liked the book, my heart went out for Nathan he was so damaged but he was the sweetest even if it was hard for him to show it. Sad it took Stella getting shot for him to get his head out of his ass but overall everything was good in the end.
I accidentally came across the book and Im so happy I did, it was emotional, beautiful, intense and just so amazing. If it wasnt for the female character and her constant tears I would have given it 5 stars.
