All Ashleigh Decker wants this summer is to be the social media intern for the Savannah Pajamas. Is that too much to ask? She’s off to a great start until she meets a player who is nothing but trouble.
This summer league is the perfect opportunity for Cole Davidson to impress the MLB scouts. His dream to play first base for the Carolina Reapers is within his grasp. An added bonus? A beautiful intern who steals his heart.
The only problem? She’s hiding her identity. Her father is the owner of the Reapers, and her overprotective older brother is the General Manager. Can Ashleigh keep her secret and the guy without jeopardizing his career?
Take three siblings, add their tight-knit friend group and you get the Decker Connection. This series includes interconnected stand-alone romances filled with charming characters, a little heat and a whole lot of heart.
This is the story of Cole and Ashleigh who meet at a Summer baseball camp while they are both at University. Cole's sole focus in life is baseball and Ashleigh is trying to make it on her own away from her family's name (they are big in baseball). Cole has absolutely no idea who Ashleigh is as she goes by the name Leigh. This is a really good fairly sweet read. Ashleigh, although seeking to distance herself, is still very close to her brothers and their friends and it actually creates a really wonderful friendship group. Her relationship with her brothers is written perfectly. That said, this also forms the basis for a lot of confusion / miscommunication through the book.
Ashleigh doesn't want to tell Cole who she is and this causes some issues between the couple with Ashleigh pushing Cole away for his own good!
The angst in this book is low and it's a very safe read. What would have made it 5* for me probably a good but more angst
Ashleigh wants to do something for herself and shake off her protective brothers and their friends.
While interning over the summer, she meets Cole whose dream is to play for the California Reapers little does he know, her dad owns the team and her brother is the General manager. He can't help to want to call her "MINE".
He's worried she might be a cleat chaser with a preference for older guys and can't help but want her still. She's also smitten by him but keeps her identity and their relationship secret so as not to derail his efforts in getting picked by scouts.
The brothers although protective, were incredibly sweet, girls night with your brother? Adorable! Also, some really great side characters.
Will definitely be following the rest of this series❤️
I didn’t get how this was a romance. Leigh and Cole spent very little time together. Have tons of miscommunication and then separate for almost a year. But somehow they love each other. And he didn’t even get drafted to his dream team. I really didn’t care for this book. The brothers were overbearing and Leigh was so pathetic. Poor little rich girl.
"Trouble with First" is a fun baseball romance. From the beginning to the end, it kept me interested. I hated to put it down. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Leigh and Trouble will win your heart, not to mention all of the side characters! If Cheryl Campbell writes a book for each side character, this is going to be a long series, but well worth it in my book.

Really wanted to like this book - wish I hadn't paid for it and wish I could get my money back. I also wish that there would be some kind of indication of "language." I don't talk like this and I don't want to read it either.
Trouble at first by Cheryl Campbell! A story of a college senior trying to find herself, and a college baseball player as they navigate their love story. Filled with secrets, and drama, I gobbled this one up and can’t wait to order the next in the series! 5⭐️ 2🌶️
Cute book. I was distracted a bit by the authors constant use of people winking at each other. I think someone winked at someone about 40 times. It was weird.
