Author and mom of three, Cece Raven, spends her days writing angsty romances and having full on conversations in her head that somehow turn into novels. Besides being an avid night owl and lover of LifeSavor gummies, she enjoys the Oregon coast and any place that smells like evergreens and fresh rain. After moving from her hometown Cece decided to deal with her homesickness through literature, creating characters who have complex backgrounds and often deal with some sort of trauma of their own. If you can't find her in the mountains or on the beach you can usually find her relaxing on a Papasan chair diving into a new book or drinking to much chai tea.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️

One of my favorite books of the year! Wow, I’m blown away by this debut novel! When I went to write down my thoughts it just came out as "omg this is so good. Read it!" So prepare yourself for the ramble😝
🏍️Dustin is my favorite strong sensitive MMC. We love a guy who isn’t scared to show emotions. Dustin isn’t hiding how he feels ever and I related to that a lot. He falls fast and he falls hard. He hangs on her ever word and remembers little details.
🏍️The connection between Dustin and Claire is instant. It says a lot about Cece Raven as a writer that she could keep me wrapped up in this story with 2 things I usually steer away from. Insta love and the exact opposite kind of MMC I usually go for.
🏍️The side characters in this book just fit seamlessly. The add to the story but do not take away from our love story unfolding.
🏍️The relationship between Claire and her dad, Jesse is beautiful. Being a daddy’s girl myself I related to this so much. They would do anything for each other.
🏍️Motorcross is basically a character of its own in this story and it’s written in well. I grew up around the motorcross scene so it was a nice to relive some of those moments from my own experiences through these characters. But I feel like even if you know nothing about the sport, you can still easily follow this.

💕Quotes
-I know that she’s ruined me. That I will be looking for pieces of her in every girl I meet.
-"Why the black heart?" "Because it’s your favorite color and I want to be your favorite person."
-‘Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory’.
(I could easily keep going)

🏍️Motorcross
🏍️Black Cat/Golden Retriever
🏍️Suspense
🏍️He falls first and hard (but she’s not far behind lol)
🏍️Friends becoming family
🏍️Banter
🏍️Spice🔥🔥

✨If it isn’t obvious, I HIGHLY recommend this book. It holds a piece of my heart. I can’t wait for Fishing for Trouble!

Review: I am not even sure what to say about this book. The fact that I have been dying for a motocross romance and @cece delivered!!
The banter, the angst, the frustration, the raw emotion I felt while reading this book was just incredible. Dustin will forever have my heart, I don’t think I could love him more if I tried.
Claire is just such a badass and I strive to be her everyday. With everything that she has endured in her life, she takes all of it and keeps going and still manages to come out on top. I love her with every fiber of my being.
I was fortunate enough to help Cece with the editing of this book and I could not be more proud of her. I can’t wait for the rest of the world to meet Dustin & Claire.
I hope you love them as much as I do! 🩵

This was just what I needed after reading so many dark romances - don’t give me wrong there’s a little suspense to it but Cece wrote such a beautiful story for Dustin and Claire. Just two people really trying to find their way in life. I literally found myself super giddy and smiling because of the mouth on that man. 🥵 I swear he gives off such golden retriever vibes, but he definitely has a wild side that only Claire gets to see. I’m so happy that Claire was able to overcome her past trauma and heal for the better …. although I do wish a certain someone would’ve thrown hands with a certain someone else *IYKYK* but it’s ok he still got what was coming for him. I wasn’t quite sure how I would feel about the insta-love because as I said I am a dark romance girly with enemies to lovers vibe all the way, but I literally devoured this book I only put it down to sleep and picked it back up in the morning. I just couldn’t get enough. One of my favorite things about this book was Claire’s attitude and sassiness it definitely made their little banter enjoyable and just the way these two interacted and connected. Ugh my heart. 🥹🫶🏼

First of all, congratulations on your debut novel, Cece! I thoroughly enjoyed how unique it was compared to everything else I've read. I had no idea a motocross romance was something missing from my life, but I'm absolutely delighted to have discovered it now.
This book was absolutely what I'd been craving. It had everything, from the thrilling motocross action to the well-crafted characters, the witty exchanges, and the sizzling chemistry. Claire was one tough and fearless woman, and watching her connection with Dustin unfold was truly something exceptional. The unexpected twist and the hilarious "not who you were expecting" moment had me laughing out loud. Dustin's rapid and intense fall for Claire, along with his endearing nervousness in her presence, was both heartwarming and authentic. His inner monologues were funny and added to the story.
However, I must mention that if you're not a fan of insta love, this book might not be the best choice for you.

ok first of all…. shoutout to the runyx shoutout. 😂 one of my favorite series was mentioned in this book!

their first “date” was hilarious. i was on the plane reading that part and i couldn’t stop laughing. i had to make sure i wasn’t cackling too loud. everything that could’ve gone wrong, did. 😀 love that for dustin lmao.

i love that claire’s favorite fast & furious movie is tokyo drift because i personally think that’s the best one. 😂

✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦

this is a debut novel by my girl cece and it was the perfect first book! dustin is the perfect book boyfriend and claire reminds me a lot of myself.

claire has gone through a lot and has made it out stronger than ever. in comes dustin, a man who falls head over heels in love with claire as soon as he sets his eyes on her.

special mention to june for being the bestest friend claire has ever had, other than han. she tells it like it is and i wish everyone had a friend like her!

it got pretty suspenseful towards the end and i was on the edge of my seat the entire time!

this book has:
🏍️ insta love
🛻 mentions of abüse
🏍️ reverse grumpy x sunshine
🛻 golden retriever mmc
🏍️ fluffy romance
🛻 he falls first
🏍️ small town romance

I am from Oregon so this book really just felt like home to me. I’m giving 4.5 stars just solely for the fact that I felt like I wanted just a little bit more. The way CeCe explained the fresh Oregon air when you’re coming over the mountains and all of the smells - TOOK ME BACK and it was magical. I wish you could all truly smell it and feel it. I also love the relationship Claire and Jesse have (her dad) because my dad and I are close and it just makes me miss sitting by the Oregon beaches with my daddy and all of our memories. It really hit home and I usually don’t like instalove but this one DID IT FOR ME. I could feel their connection instantly, like I was there and felt like I knew both main characters forever. The nicknames >>> are golden, the banter is golden, the crazy twist at the end is just what I needed! I love this book! I can’t wait for the second one.

This book was just so 🥺🥺🥺. That is the best way for me to explain how I felt about Dustin. Claire is a freaking badass and I want to be her. Like why am I suddenly interested in motorcross? I know nothing about motorcross racing and you need to know nothing about it before reading this book! Cece does a lovely job of making all the bike terms very easy to digest. Also, just so much happens in this book there is never a dull moment. I would have actually liked a little bit more of the sports/racing aspect.

I would 100% recommend this book to all my insta-love he falls first girlies. This is the book for you!! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

This book for me was hard to rate. On one aspect I loved the motocross, the strong FMC that can put a man in his place…. BUT the insta-love really makes me cringe.

One day, not even 24 hrs and Dustin would do anything for Claire? Its hard to follow for me and that’s just bc it’s not my preference.

Ignoring that, this book is written beautifully and for it being a debut novel I was yet again surprised.

Dustin is a the epitome of a cinnamon roll and that I did love!

I’m obsessed with the motocross romance aspect of this and need more!

I’m biased but hey! I loved this book so much, the characters have flaws and frustrated me at times but I appreciate that I was able to relate to them and understand why they made the choices they did because of their trauma. 🫶🏼
The rivals to lovers aspect was so fucking cute! And Dustin is my favorite golden retriever MMC to date. 🥵 I just love how goofy he is.
Claire is an absolute bad-ass and I wish I was as strong as her! 💪🏼
Reed sport is a dream, and if I were to live in a fictional non-fictional place it would be this small town.
I laughed, cried, swooned, wanted to throw my book, and would 100% read it again 🖤

I have so much to say about this amazing story. First off thank you to Cece Raven for allowing me to read this early! I am so in love with this story and the characters 🫶

If you like any of these tropes you’ll love this one!

Motorcross romance
Witty Banter
Instant lovers
Found family
Diverse characters
Medium-fast paced
Meaningful lessons

I am not usually drawn to instant love relationships and I’m definitely an enemies to lovers girl but this one blew me away!

This story was so heartwarming but had some absolutely heartbreaking moments at the same time. I was definitely balling my eyes out for a decent chunk of this book. There are so many lessons thrown in throughout this story that draw you in and really pull you into the characters and their lives. And every single character has depth and background… details that make you feel like you really know them.

Claire and Dustin are my new favorite book couple. Their love for each other is so sweet and made my heart SO happy. Dustin is just SWOON worthy. I think I literally drooled over him at some parts🫣

And Claire and her father’s relationship is just SO FREAKING sweet. I was totally a daddy’s girl growing up so it made my heart happy reading their dynamic! The bond they share is un breakable and I just adore them so much.

The ONLY con I have is that it ended and I want more!!!!

This was definitely a wonderful, heartwarming, contemporary romance that you should definitely add to your TBR because honestly everyone needs some Claire and Dustin in their life!!🩷

This was entertaining from start to finish! Such a heart warming story, I loved the small town setting, all the characters, and the overall storyline with the motorcross, romance and suspenseful drama had me hooked!!🖤
I fell in love with Claire and Dustin right away! Claire was such a badass - confident, fierce, strong. Her backstory absolutely broke my heart but I loved how she kept moving forward; she was seriously amazing and inspiring. Dustin was honestly just perfect, such a sweetheart and so protective of Claire — he would do absolutely anything for her. He was so in love and the way he called her Angel melted my heart everytime🥹 They had beautiful chemistry from the second they met and great banter, plus the spice was amazing!!! It was very insta love in the beginning which isn’t my fav and I personally found the timing to feel a bit off occasionally, but wasn’t anything that took away from the story. I was thoroughly invested through the whole book and didn’t want it to end!
Also can we just take a moment of appreciation for daddy Jesse? 🫡

Thanks Cece for the arc and congrats on an amazing debut novel🖤 So so excited to continue the series with Fishing for Trouble - I am so in love June and Axel already and can’t wait for more of their stories🫶🏻 Hoping to see some more of Claire and Dustin too😍

Where do I even start? I literally raced through this novel. The second I started it I knew Claire was the girl I always wanted to be, smart mouthed with all the badassery you want in a female character without ever being overdone. Dustin is the balance to even the scales of Claire’s life, he provides her the stability she chases, and the affections she deserves. Claire is the wild hair Dustin needs to face not only acceptance for who he is, but the change he knows he needs. Two people more alike than different have the spark of a lifetime, nothing is needed to mesh these two together. The most intimate moment is the sand dollar scene, and IYKYK! The spice was spicin’ but that’s not even the best parts of the novel, just an added bonus to the love we get to witness from these two fiery lovers. Cece created a lovely romance novel, my only complaint is that there wasn’t more! I cannot wait to absolutely devour Fishing for Trouble. Lines We Shouldn’t Cross most certainly set the tone for what we can expect out of the Winchester Bay series, which I suspect will be nothing short of wonderful!

♾️/5 stars

Cece, baby. I simply do not have enough words. This book and you, have changed me, made a home in my heart and life and I couldn’t be more happy for it.

Lines We Shouldn’t Cross really is that bitch. Like it made me cry multiple times…like a little bitch but in the most breathtakingly way possible. Claire & Dustin mean everything to me. Their love and the journey they both had to make to be able to love each other in the way that they do? Truly poetic.

Don’t even get me started on your character development. Claire’s healing journey was so beautiful and real. The amount of courage it takes to leave a toxic situation and rise above it and find beauty and love in the aftermath? I swear I will never get over it.

It’s incredible what you have done with this story. You, my dear, are incredible. And hey, you did the damn thing!!

This book was just so dang cute!!
The rivals to lovers mixed with instacrush was so adorable. The banter between Dustin and Claire was funny and had me giggling out loud at times.

Dustin’s golden retriever personality with a side to him he saves for her only was a refreshing mix.

Claire was all around exactly who I wanted to be. When I was younger I was obsessed with motocross and spent every Tuesday and Saturday night at the local track with friends and family. I wanted to learn to ride so bad, so I was living through her with this book!

I only wish we’d gotten to find out what happened with them each career wise as their dreams and aspirations were mentioned multiple times as they were finding their way in life. I’m hoping this is something we find out in the next book about the other characters. I hope it will touch on some updates for these two.

I went into this ARC based on two things. Motocross and set in Oregon lol. Normally small town romance and insta love are two tropes that are “meh” to me, but I’m so glad I picked up this ARC. I would live in Reedsport in a heartbeat, and when the guy falls first is a favorite 🫠. I now want to learn MX too 😂
Dustin is fucking adorable. He is all golden retriever vibes until he is lusting over Claire. I love that he showed emotions and cried, felt anxious, and kept fucking up in the cutest ways.
Claire’s sass I loved on a whole new level. I related to her a lot. She was independent, had something to prove, didn’t take shit from people, and wasn’t afraid to get dirty. She’s the girl every guy is scared of because she was more “manly,” which I myself have been told before. Then there is Dustin, who saw her as perfection the way she was.

The only thing I wish was that there was a little more detail in specific scenes…and of course a little more spice, but that’s also me 😂
The story was overall great! This was an amazing debut novel. I can’t wait to see you grow as a writer and read Axel’s story.

Hello, this is a debut?! I’m not convinced because Cece Raven writes just like a seasoned author with a ton of books under her name. I always get a little nervous when reading debut books but Raven absolutely blew me away with this one. I didn’t know that I needed a motocross romance but I did and it was this one!

The dedication is heartwarming.
The plot is entertaining.
The characters are complex.

I love a girl that can put a man in his place and the meet cute with Dustin and Claire is PERFECT and I kinda want to be her! The dichotomy between Dustin’s in love cinnamon roll self and his wild dirty talking self is everything I need in a fictional character.
This is more insta-love than I generally like but there was something about it that made it okay for me. The connection between Dustin and Claire was deeper than just a familarity and they immediately wanted to know more about each other plus their inner “wtf is happening right now” thoughts made it more relatable.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything I didn’t like and I just need everyone to read this book because it’s GOOD!!

Side note: I’ve always believed that Live Music is magical and the moment we get with Dustin and Claire together at a concert is (fictional) proof of that!

What to expect:
🖤 New To Town
👩🏽‍🔧 BA FMC
🔧 Angst/ Suspense & Spice
🖤 Insta-love/ He falls first
👩🏽‍🔧 Banter
🔧 Rivals to Lovers

Oh man, I ate this book up!
You are telling me this is a debut??
I love Claire and Dustin so much. This one tugged on my heartstrings for sure. Claire reminds me of myself when I was 19-20, including running from a guy like JT. I think that's why I could easily understand her reasoning for putting up her walls and shutting Dustin out.
Dustin is such a golden retriever, but then he brings out his dirty mouth with a side of good girl and I freaking melt into a puddle. I would follow him anywhere.
Definitely an instalove story, but it didn't bother me or take away from anything for me. If you aren't a fan of instalove though, I would say this won't be your cup of tea.
Can't wait to read more about Axel in the next book!!

This is my first time reading a Motocross Romance and it was amazinggg 👏! The angst and the spice really got my toes curling and I love Dustin and Claire sm 😤🩷. My absolute fav about this book is Claire's sassy attitude cause it works so well in this book and who also doesn't love a golden retriever mmc??? DUSTIN was full on golden retriever and also he falls first AHHHHHHH!!! This two trope already got me kicking my feet in the air and I love love it sm. The book does have an insta romance trope but fr like it works so well in here like fr! If you want to try a new sport romance, then I definitely recommend this book!

Spicy level is definitely 3/5 for me. 🥵

Dustin and Claire are by far my favorite book couple.
Lastly, it’s based in Oregon which I absolutely love because not many people even know about how beautiful and wonderful it is.

This book was everyyyything! Finally someone wrote a motorcross romance for us dirt bike loving girlies!!!

There were so many things about this story that I enjoyed. The banter, obviously, was top tier and I loved how feisty Claire was. Dustin being so sweet and gentle, but having that “I’m the boss” side when it counts… hoooo boy 🥵

Important and difficult topics were covered with the care they needed, as we got to watch the main characters grow and learn throughout the story. I also loved the side characters; Tattie, Dustin’s mum, June, and Axel. I’m so excited for book two, and already have so many ideas racing around my head of what could happen!

My Rating: 5/5 braaaap’s 🤪🙌🏼

I fell in love with Claire and Dustin from the moment they had their first encounter with each other.. I could feel the butterflies one feels with new or young love while reading their story. The passion and desire that radiates from these two is whoa..!!! Being from the Pacific Northwest the nostalgia of reading about places I have actually been, was one of my favorite things about this book. The bonus Chapter of this book had me in tears and left my heart wide open ..I can not wait to read more about the family and friends I have met in this book.. Bring on Winchester Bay’s book #2 .!!!

Ugh I have so many feelings about this book. First off, we love a FMC that has a spicy fiery attitude and is not taking shit from no one. The challenges she’s faced from her past, and overcoming them, moving her life in a better direction.
Following her dreams and continuing to compete in MotoCross, Claire is one badass woman 👊🏻

And ugh, Dustin. My man. The way he protects, loves and cares for Claire? Chefs kiss🤌🏻
I love the way we get to see his character evolve. Putting himself and claire first over anyone else and I can’t get enough🥰

Cece- just wanted to say I’m so proud of you boo. I can’t wait to read more of your novels. 🤍

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ( all the stars!)
Release date: 11/03/23

GUYS! This book is everything I didn’t know I needed!

This book follows the lives of Claire Gates & Dustin Price. Two people just trying to find their way in life - when their words collide.

Dustin - instantly loved him. The raw emotion he gives & the things that come out of his mouth 👏🏻. He is the true definition of the golden retriever MMC that I love so much! 😍

Claire is a badass! With everything she has endured in life - she keeps going no matter what. All with her head held high. I really connected with her & her stubborn “ I can handle it myself. I don’t need help” self. I tend to be the same way at times.

We all were missing out on a motorcross romance & Cece Raven delivered! 🙌🏼

I can’t wait to read more about this town & characters. Already counting down to 02/16/2024 for the next book.

Thank you for allowing me an early copy! ❤️

I’ve been in a reading slump lately. Not wanting to read anything dark or twisty. This is exactly what I needed. It’s cute, has some drama but not in an overly dramatic plot type way. It was refreshing.

The two main characters had so much chemistry. I loved their shared love of motocross and entering into that world with them.

This book…. 👌CeCe addressed really important things with the best perspective. Claire didn’t need him to save her, she wanted him to be with her, not NEED and he recognized that too. It was a great mix of being feminine while also embracing the love a strong man can provide.
Perfect amount of spice, lots of angst!
Cannot wait for more stories from these sub characters

Okay I have been waiting for this one!! It’s a dirtbike romance!! If you loved the Disney Channel Original Movie, Motocrossed, this is for you! Lol but for reals. Love that movie & love this book.

I didn’t want to stop reading this one.. I was super invested the whole time. I loved all the characters so much and am really looking forward to the next book.

But this was an insta love romance done right, in my opinion. Dustin and Claire meet at a dirtbike race and quickly fall for each other. There were lots of obstacles to overcome, but they had such a good connection, that they work through it all. It’s honestly so sweet how much they care about each other.

There is some suspense to this story as well! Definitely had me tearing up at the end. I loved it! Great debut novel, Cece!

If you love dirt bikes this one is definitely for you! I used to ride and go to the dunes all the time so it was really fun to read a book based on this lifestyle, especially since I haven’t read anything else about motocross or seen any hyped books on the topic! Also you gotta love when the fmc is a baddie and there is some good romance mixed in.

Dustin and Claire. The emotional descriptions are detailed, I enjoyed the change in romance rather than workplace or strangers in a city, this is neat and the motocross interests me. The small town is warming, these two instant love gets better as the story goes, a bit of mystery throughout and a chilling near ending. Love the way he loves her.
