The last place I expected to meet my fated mate was in an alley. On the run from angry supernaturals and drenched in at least a tidal wave's worth of rain, I fall-literally-into his arms. Only problem is, he's Silas Thorn, an infamous vampire assassin who's killed more people than I can count. If there was an entry for "Bad News" in the dictionary, a picture of his disturbingly attractive face, with his strong jawline and piercing eyes, would be included. Even worse, those supernaturals who were chasing me have caught my father. They believe he killed one of their own, and they're out for blood. Working with Silas might be the only way to clear his name before it's too late. But as I'm drawn into the darkness of his world, the pull of our fated bond is almost impossible to ignore. And if I'm not careful, he will ruin me.

The grammar and editing were quite good and the writing itself was of good quality. I really didn't like the FMC at all. She suffered heavily from STTL and seemed really immature. Each book in this series is written by a different author and while I've liked the majority of the books so far this one really didn't work for me.
The Immortal Vices and Virtues series continues with its sixth book, Ruin Me By Jenna Wolfhart. While this isn't my first Vices book it is my first book by Jenna and I think she did a great job.
This book's lucky couple is Silas Thorne and Gwen Kane. Both carry some sort of trauma due to childhood events, both have strong feelings about how to handle the crime in their town and both want to make things better. For a brooding vampire, Silas is a good guy, morally gray because he kills the perp but only after they've committed several crimes but in his own way, he's trying to make things better. Things way heavily on him but he refuses to turn a blind eye to all the crime, including how humans are treated. Gwen is half-angel, half-human, training with her angel dad to fight crime. Gwen is enthusiastic about crime fighting but has certain ideas about going about it. I like Gwen, she has a good heart but has a very in-your-face personality, it took time to get used to her.
One thing I didn't expect but should have was a story in No Man’s Land. The area is like the wild-wild-west where crime is rampant, no one cares, and no houses rule. I most definitely didn't expect a vigilante plot with battling supernatural gangs, hidden identities, secret lairs, and a conspiracy to framing someone for murder. The back and forth between Gwen and Silas was frustrating they deny the bond, acting on the bond, are in denial about the bond. Then the different views on how to protect the city. I do think Silas got a little bit of a raw deal, and so did Phantom for that matter because the angels are far from perfect and this city needs help.
I highly enjoyed Ruin Me, kinda reminded me of the old Batman stories. I love each and every addition to the series. I enjoyed the couple of familiar names that popped up and while I'm glad Silas and Gwen found their happily ever after I would love to see them in future books.
This is another great one for this fun, entertaining series! Each book works as a standalone and is written by different authors; love that! I’d recommend starting from the beginning though for a better picture of this world.
Good action, interesting paranormal characters, and some sweet romance! Gwen and Silas have good banter and chemistry. Love that Gwen is a kick booty female and stands up for herself and others. Vampire Silas is great too! Both Silas and Gwen are having some issues that are causing their lives to be quite dangerous at the moment. Luckily for them, they find each. Wonderful!
I can say that I hadn’t really read anything quite like this standalone, combining both supernatural elements with the action and moral dilemmas of the life of a vigilante when all seems lost.
The plot was fast paced from the very first opening scene, and continued to charge onwards from there which, at points, had me struggling a little bit to connect with the characters as I personally love reading scenes a little more in depth rather than internal dialog so to speak, but I enjoyed every other element!
Gwen has been training for this, but that doesn't always mean it'll go how you think it will. She is a fighter for sure and never gives up that hope. Silas on the other hand is believed to be nothing but a murder and definitely not the hero. All though that doesn't mean this isn't more in those deep eyes. They must put aside there what they belive to try and say the place they call home. This was a quick easy read with just a little bit of spice.
Can I just say first of all this is a new author to me, and it’s all because I started the Immortal Vices and Virtues series that I discovered them and I’m really looking forward to reading more of theirs in the future.
Now back to the actual story. I absolutely adore this series. Each story whilst all in the same world, has its own unique character and locations. We have action, interesting characters, a great dose of steam and it was great to find out more about No Mans Land and those within it.
Loved Gwen and Silas and was hooked from the beginning. A really enjoyable read.
This is another story in this amazing world. This is about No Man's Land where the people are not affiliated with any houses at all. Gwen has been training with her dad to help protect those who cannot protect themselves. Silas does the same, just a little bit differently. Somehow they have to work together. It's action packed from beginning to end
Gwen and Silas‘s story was good and brought more of No Mans land which I liked cause you get more insight of it in this one. The rollercoaster ride was plenty and kept me engaged throughout
This book was trash. Out of all the immortals and virtues book series, so far this one is the worst. The story about the FMC being a vigilante did not appeal to me. If you asked me I thought she was horrible at it, reminded me of a poor excuse of a Batman, and she was quite annoying too. I was hoping the FMC and MMC would develop there relationship more but no was disappointed. This book gave me vampire mafia vibes and did not mesh well with the other stories from the immortals and virtues series. Also the story line and characters were pretty predictable, there were no surprises and was pretty obvious what would happen next. I liked that they delved deeper into the world of No Man's Land, but this one didn't hit the mark for me. The story had potential, but crashed and burned for me. Overall disappointed I read this book, could of definitely skipped this read. Hope the next book in the series is better than this one.
This is an enemies to lovers trope. This one doesn't take place in a house, its focused in No man's land - one of the many towns within No man's land. In the beginning I was worried about how their relationship would unfold because it took so long before anything actually happened. Silas and Gwyn couldn't see eye to eye. They were both trying to protect their people and keep their part of the world safe, but they had different views on how to accomplish it. Silas thought killing them was best and Gwyn said killing wasn't the only way. Although I agree with Silas, if they don't kill them, who will stop them from coming back? There is no protection from any of the houses and no police. There is no one to care for anyone especially the humans in the Coils. So it's everyone for themselves.
At 43% in there still wasn't any real relationship between the two and I was worried if nothing happened soon then it would feel unnatural or forced. But right after they did end up working together and the progression of their relationship flowed really well, especially since they are mates. It didn't feel rushed or anything. I do find it weird though that the necklas Silas wore would hide the fact he was her mate from her. You would think that the mate bond would still make itself known no matter what enchantment he used. He knew about her for 2 years and it makes me wonder why they didn't reject the bond and decided to just ignore it.
When Gwyn found out he was her mate, she hated him as Orpheaus, so it would've made since for her to just say no. I am glad they didn't reject it though and decided to try and ignore it. One thing a lot of these mate bond stories have in common is the fact the characters feel like they don't want to be with someone because of fate telling them that this person is for them. They want to determine who they love for themselves. I think she would've let him go if it wasn't for her father telling her he was ok with the killing and that he was okay with what Silas was doing. She basically pushed him away until her father said it was ok.
I find it crazy though there was no pushback on the creation of the new house. They said no man's land is the areas around portals - so does this area not have a portal? Also, it was hard for the other new house to be created and required a vote. So how did they create theirs without the agreement from the other rulers? That is the one part that wasn't explained enough in my opinion. It seems like they just called themselves a house and screw whoever says differently. But Volker (I think that's how its spelled) did show up and wish them luck. So it seems to be taken seriously.
The story was pretty good. I enjoyed reading it. Definitely one of the shorter books in the series though. Also, this book has the same chapter pictures as the others. So I think it is the same for all the books in the series. I figured each house would have their own - so each book would be different, but it seems they all have the same gem and shadow line thing
4.25 stars! And now for something more unique in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series. Up until now, we’ve been getting peaks into all the different supernatural houses that exist in this world. But in this case, we get No Man’s Land. Angels, half-angels, vampires, hybrids, loyalty and betrayal, fated mates, and plenty of vigilante justice abound in this fast paced and steamy addition to the series.
Gwen has been training with her father, her a half angel, him a full angel and a powerful vigilante in No Man’s Land known as Phantom. She wants to continue his crusade, to help those who are unable to help themselves, especially the humans trapped in the slums known as the coils, and forced to serve the houseless vampires that uses them for their blood. But events unfold that put her father’s life in grave and imminent danger, and she is forced to work with Orpheus to save him. Unfortunately Orpheus is a much more brutal vigilante, and she doesn’t approve of his dark and dangerous methods of vigilante justice. He also just so happens to be her mate.
Orpheus, AKA Silas, lives his double life stealthily and contentedly, using glamour to separate his alter ego from his true identity. He knows Gwen is his mate, but also recognizes that she doesn’t approved of his methods, and that they will never be together. But when Phantom is framed and it’s something he has intimate and complicated knowledge of, he vows to help Gwen clear his name. Things get even more complicated when his past comes back to haunt him in the worst possible way.
Overall a very interesting and compelling story. We’ve seen bits and pieces of No Man’s Land in prior books. Always understanding its lawlessness and dangerous and foreboding nature. So getting a story from the inside, is a very cool twist to this series that I very much enjoyed. The relationship between Gwen and Silas is quite interesting as well. Under his own persona, they are actually nearly friends, a pleasant air between them, but he’s using a fake face for those interactions, so she doesn’t realize he’s her mate, even though he knows it. When she encounters him as Orpheus, and that realization hits her, even though she doesn’t know they are the same person, she is thrown for a loop - not interested in a bond that is seemingly forced by fate and out of her control. The more time they spend together, and after she makes the connection of the two personas, the lines definitely blur, and she realizes that there is more to this fated mate bond than she realized. They have a great chemistry, and the slow burn romance hits just right for the story. The story is paced really well, and the way the book ended felt very fitting and was a good conclusion not only for Gwen and Silas, but also for the overall plot, and I appreciated the direction it took, with the sense of found family and taking care of your own. Another great book in the series!
Worldbuilding: For the first time, we're not just passing through No Man's Land. We're staying! You could really feel how alone and desolate the people feel out there. They have no Houses to fall back to, nobody that protects them. Instead, they are stuck in the middle of vampire gangs battling it out. Throw some angels and cats in the mix et voila... enjoy Towton City! The scenes and environments were well-written and detailed enough to fully relax and enjoy the story.
Character development: Gwen is half-angel and half-human, training to be a protector of the people like her father, the notorious Phantom. However, she still has a way to go when disaster strikes and her father is taken by one of the gangs for something he cannot have done. Deciding to get to the bottom of this case and free her father, she pairs up with an unlikely ally, Orpheus. Orpheus, better known as Silas in his everyday life, has vowed to clean the streets little by little to give the people a fighting chance. Even though he's a vampire, he's very human-centred. Gwen and Silas have had their hardships, and now they both have to step up, or they won't survive. They both mature and learn to depend on someone else (which isn't all that obvious, them being in their chosen activities). I feel like the story revolves a lot more around the fight they are in and not so much about the romance, which was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise :)
Pacing and flow: I read the book in 2 reading sessions (alas, someone needs to work to pay the bills), and while it was a smooth read, I sometimes had trouble keeping my attention on the story. But still, good balance between the many action scenes and the conversations.
The book: The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is some sexual tension and one fairly detailed scene (if that is important to you). The book has 244 pages, spread over 32 chapters, told from both Gwen's and Silas' points of view.
Final thoughts: I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, and all in all, another good instalment in the series! If you like a more action-driven book that is fairly low on romance and spice, be sure to grab this one!
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Jenna Wolfhart!
Ruin Me is the Sixth standalone book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues world and tells the story of Gwen and Silas.
Jenna Wolfhart is a new-to-me author, so I was really interested in her book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series. All the books in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series I’ve read so far were so good, so I had high expectations of Ruin Me. Jenna Wolfhart’s story for this series was a quick and action-packed read, and I liked our main characters Gwen and Silas. The story was really interesting, and I liked reading in both perspectives.
Ruin Me is about Gwen and Silas. They find out they’re mates but don’t really know what to do with it. One thing they do know is that they both want to set Gwen’s father free. They work together and eventually fall for each other. I liked that their romance story was a bit slower, but I did miss the spice. All of the books in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series have a lot of spice in them, and this one did not. Ruin Me was more focused on the action/adventure and less on the romance, in my opinion.
I liked reading Ruin Me, it was fun to read a book by a new-to-me author, and I liked getting to know Gwen and Silas. They’re both enjoyable characters and I’m happy with their ending. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series, Ignite Me by Heather Renee. I cannot wait to read Kinsley and Grayson’s story!
World-expanding, Action/Romance Served Vigilante Style
Jenna Wolfhart delivers a quick and engaging read. In Ruin Me, readers familiar with the IV&V universe finally get a story in No Man’s Land. And as this is an area that has been written to exist outside of the established societal rules, it also serves as an easy introduction to the world for new folks.
Wolfhart does a fabulous job of building Towton City, giving details and descriptions that pull you into the gang-torn, desolate area. This attention to world-building helps in the fleshing out of her characters, as the reader clearly understands the world in which these characters live. Gwen, our angelic, female main character, has been greatly shaped by the city, both via her scars, triumphs, and goals. I love that Gwen is written realistically strong. She has fears, panic attacks, and is dealing with a lot of crap; but it does not stop her. And just as the city has formed Gwen, it has hewn Silas in a completely different fashion. When these two collide, fireworks.
Now for the specifics:
😇Length: Novel
🩸Genre: Paranormal romance/Dystopian fantasy –vampires, angels, etc.
😇POV: First person, protagonists, dual perspectives – male and female main characters
🩸Age: Adult
😇Warnings: Language, violence, and sexual content
🩸Spice: Lightly spicy, but the heat is written on the page
😇Violence: Moderate, action-focused, and not overly descriptive; however, this is faithful to the harsh gritty world that has been created in previous books and we’ve entered one of the roughest places yet, “No Man’s Land”
🩸Editing: No complaints, I was never pulled from the story.
😇World: Post-supernatural-apocalypse Earth
🩸Series: Immortal Vices and Virtues (interconnected standalones in a shared universe)
I don’t know why the vigilante trope in this book doesn’t appeal to me. I almost DNF this, but I managed to finish it because I wanted to see how it would end.
Gwen is a half angel and half human supernatural who fights injustice. She stressed me out because she refused to kill murderers. I know she has her own set of morals and principles, but she was living in a lawless territory called the No Man's Land that is full of gangs, murderers, and other criminals. Those murderers kept on harming her family and other people. It was obvious that these thugs wouldn't stop unless they die. Fortunately, Gwen realized that at the end of the book.
Anyway, Gwen's father, Damian Kane/Phantom, was framed for killing an angel named Nicholas Tanner. (Was it an angel tho? 👀) Since he was an angel himself, and it was illegal for angels to kill one another, he was wrongfully imprisoned. Gwen was desperate to free her father so she accepted Silas's help.
Silas is a vampire assassin and the son of the former leader of the Nightshade gang. He is also known as Orpheus, which was his vigilante name. He killed a vampire named Nicholas Tanner (was it an vampire tho? 👀) who had been stalking a woman. Since the name of the vampire he killed was the same as the "murdered victim" angel's name, he suspected that there was something wrong. Therefore, he decided to help his mate, Gwen, to prove Phantom's innocence. He was also kind of close with Phantom after all. They were both vigilantes.
Anyway, I got upset when some enemy vampires fed on Silas's cat. It wasn’t described in detail, just mentioned, but it still broke my heart. (Oh, that poor cat. 😢)
At the end of the book, we gained another House — the House of Roses and Rubies.🌹🌹🌹

Ruin Me is the sixth book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series. It follows Orpheus a deadly vampire assassin and Gwen the daughter of another assassin Phantom. This book doesn't feature a house instead it takes place in No Man's Land a place that is somewhat neutral territory to the other house but is pretty dangerous as they have no leaders.
In the part of No Man's land where Silas/Orpheus lives the residents are mainly humans but two rival vampire gangs battle for power. Orpheus is the outcast son of one of them but he'd rather live in the slums than have live under his mother's rule even if she was chased out of town. Orpheus is the vigilante watchdog of one half of Towton City whilst Phantom watches the other side together the try to keep the city's violence to a minimum. But one night when Phantom is training his daughter he's taken and then framed. Orpheus trys to help Gwen his daughter but she refuses any help for him. Orpheus knows Phantom is being framed because the man he's being framed for killing is actually someone he took out bcoz he was stalking a wolf shifter. Someone is determined to take Phantom out of the picture and Orpheus has a good idea who it might be... his mother. It has her mo all over it after Phantom chased her out of the city. Together Orpheus and Gwen will have to work together to prove her father's innocence, something easier said than done because they're mates and where Orpheus has no problems with it Gwen doesn't believe fate should determine her life partner. When Orpheus' mother returns to take back the city he knows this means war but knowing who's on which side will prove hard in a world where people have no loyalty to a house but only to themselves, but Gwen and Orpheus are determined to save the vulnerable ones who call No Man's land home even if it costs them their lives.
Wow wow wow Gwen was absolutely everything I want in a MC she is courageous and brave.. she fights for the people nobody else thinks is important. I love that she is only just finding her feet as a fighter/protector so still makes mistakes. She still need the people around her. That bring us to the side kick/best friend and I loved Kole the brother she never had. I love he wants what’s right not what’s easy, even if he has to walk away form people he loves.
Then there is Silas and isn’t he just my new favourite Lollypop!! Yes folks I just want to lick the super hot anti hero with a heartbreaking background and sexy no nonsense attitude.
Ruin me was fast pasted and jam packed with action. The slums show another part of this amazing world the author are building together. I love I can picture No man’s land more clearly now with this unique look at its residence and what they go through. The poler opposite of the previous books and the grander that the leaders have. Ruin me gets down and dirty with the people who have nothing. Brilliant read I loved every page.
Every book in the series can be read alone but I can’t stress enough how amazing and different each one is they are all MUST READS.
This is book 6 in the Immortal vices and Virtues series. Each book is a standalone in a shared world and follows a different couple. These books will all have an HEA but will put the couple through the ringer before getting there. I do recommend reading in order to enjoy the entire series the way it was meant to be read.
This story follows Gwen and Silas. Both are broken in their own ways and their stories made my heart hurt. They are both hiding identities and secrets that they don't want others to know and they both have the same goal. Save the humans in the No Mans Land from the vampire gangs. The problem is they don't want each other to know who they both are and the cherry on top, they are fated mates!
The chemistry between Gwen and Silas was off the charts hot. The story was great with all the secrets and the twist at the end. The only thing I wished I had more of was the relationship between Gwen and her Dad. I felt like there was more that could have been said and done with their relationship. It does not take away from the story and I still enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend this series especially for those that enjoy a share world with amazing writers. I give this book 5 stars.
Absolutely meh. I found myself bored with the MCs. I didn't connect with either. Silas wasn't nearly as badass as I wanted him to be. He had mommy issues and appeared weak many times in comparison to his mate Gwen. Silas was a vampire and Gwen was merely half human/angel. Given, she was obviously somewhat powerful in her own right as well. However, I felt it was just too tame imo. Their dynamics and their differences didn't actually play a significant part of their lives. Remove the supernatural themes surrounding the plot and you'd easily believe Silas and Gwen were regular humans. It was very obvious the author wanted the reader to believe how badass Gwen was but it all felt forced and I found it difficult to believe she was this amazing street fighter the author tried to make her out be. She came across a bit juvenile tbh. 🤷🏻♀️
Top it off with Gwen being obnoxious and very judgemental towards Silas and I never stood a chance liking this story. Some of the writing was weird too.
This book also took me nearly two weeks to finish which is unheard of for me. So...yeah it was a struggle and I only pushed through out of boredom and not wanting to procrastinate over what to read next.
To be really honest, I had some troubles getting into this book. It started off a bit slow and to get to know a whole new place again –even though that also was the interesting part, getting a point of view outside of the houses we came to love in the previous books– was quite hard at the beginning. I did push through though because I had a feeling the book had a lot of potential and I just wanted to know what would happen. And once I got further in the story and things started rolling, I got hooked and then I was flying through the pages and then the end was there all of the sudden. So yes, it did get better and I'm really glad I decided to hold on to the story. The hero of the book is a vampire, who has quite the background story. I loved him from the first chapter, woops. And then the heroine. She was at times annoying in the start, but she had such character growth and in the end she was a real badass and made me fall for her as well. Overall this was a great book and I enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend it to someone who loves fantasy, romance and also a little bit of a mystery.
As always this is the latest in the #ImmortalVicesAndVirtues series and they’re all #Standalone so you can read them out of order but I do recommend reading them in order to catch the character crossovers and the little #EasterEgg hints
This is my first read from @jenna_wolfhart so I’m excited to read her writing!
Lead characters: Silas & Gwen, just me that thinks of #TheDaVinciCode when you see the name Silas?
I enjoyed this slow burn romance, lots more world building and this time from a no man’s land/human perspective.
I liked both our characters and think they fit well together. The addition of Phantom and The Saints was a nice side bar and we get a wee cameo from everyone’s favourite Moonlight Wraith.
I liked this instalment, in my opinion there could’ve been waaay more spice but it was still a good read and I did finish it in one sitting.
Oh, this book ends on SUCH a cliffhanger. Thank you #NetGalley for sending me a copy to read!
While it has been a bit since I read Of Ash and Embers, it didn’t take long for me to remember where we left off. This one picks right back up too! I so love when authors do that!! I love Tessa and Kalen, they have this very organic love story.. ugh I just eat it up!
Bellicent though- this one… I know we can’t choose our family and all but lord… she has to be the worst. I mean first you make your son make a vow and you are totally okay with using women as a “vessel” for you to live on and then you do THAT (no spoilers)?!?! I am not sure even that is going to be forgivable in Kalen’s eyes.
There’s a lot that happens in this book that I feel will have a BIG impact on the rest of the story. Without giving too much away- I did NOT see this ending coming. If you have not yet read this series, I would highly recommend it.
I am looking forward to what is coming next for some of my favorite humans, Mist King, and Mist Guards!
This book is pretty different from all the others in this shared world but that is what I love most about it!
It’s dark and gritty in No Man’s Land where rules are laughable. Those who take care of their own and the city all have different ways in handling the crime they come across.
Silas is all about the Vigilante life and I dig it. (Think Batman here). Gwen is different, quite the opposite of Silas, she still has hope and in this area it’s waiting to be crushed.
As two very different people and supernaturals you’d think they wouldn’t be compatible. While I had a little bit of a problem with them two, overall I rooted for them! Denying their bond “for the better” is what bugged me but of course it prevailed.
They each have a connection outside of that bond and while Silas doesn’t want Gwen knowing who and what he is he also can’t avoid it for long. They come together in the most important ways and that makes this story enjoyable!
Just finished 'Of Night and Chaos' and it's a mixed bag for me. Jenna Wolfhart takes us back into this magical world with Tessa and Kalen's story, and their romance? It's sweet and has some real chemistry. The lore and world-building are top-notch, and the whole gods and prophecy angle adds a nice touch of mystery.
But, the pacing felt off at times. The first half of the book was a bit slow, especially with the multiple POVs. Don't get me wrong, I love getting into different characters' heads, but it kind of took away from Tessa and Kalen's story, which is what I was really there for. And that cliffhanger? It's huge, leaving me both frustrated and curious.
The action and twists in the latter part are great, though. It’s clear Jenna's setting up something big for the next book, and I'm here for it. So, if you're into fantasy with a bit of romance and don't mind a slow burn, this could be your thing. Just brace yourself for that ending!
The Immortal Vices and Virtues series continues with another great story that I finished in less than 24 hours! Ruin Me is full of adventurous fighting scenes, loving friendships, and just a smidge of romance. I really enjoyed how fast-paced the story was, and I am a huge fan of badass FMC and morally grey vigilantes so Gwen and Silas were right up my alley.
Like the other books in this series, Ruin Me can easily be read as a stand-alone. I would recommend this book for any paranormal romance lovers who enjoy a lot of fighting scene action and low spice. Out of all of this series, I think this one doesn’t focus on the paranormal aspect as much as the others so it may be good for PNR beginners. I can’t wait for the next book in the world to be released!
I received this ARC for my honest review. This was my first book by Jenna Wolfhart. I definitely enjoyed the journey we’re taken on. Silas and Gwen hook you in to their action packed journey. There’s a mystery behind the framing of Gwen’s father and she’s having to need the help of the last person she would think of, who is also the last person she would have ever thought would be her fated mate. Together and with the help of Gwen’s friends they are able to get closer and closer as their journey reveals more and more information. There are twists and turns that keep you hooked and once you’ve reached the end, it gives you all the closure for the characters. Definitely a great addition to the Immortal Vices and Virtues world.
This is the first in the Immortal Vices and Virtues world that takes place completely in No Man’s Land. Silas is living a double life while trying to clean up No Man’s Land and make it safe for the Supernaturals and humans living in the Coil. Gwen is undergoing training with her father for the same reason but does not appreciate the fact the Silas does not hold back in exterminating any threats. The Vampire gangs in No Man’s Land have taken over and abuse the humans in the Coil. Gwen uncovers deception and corruption that cover more than she thought while battling personal demons from her past. Silas has his own issues from the past that threaten the tentative truce he has with Gwen. This is an interesting addition that brings a new dynamic to the Immortal world.
Here we are, book 6 of the Immortal Vices and Virtues Series. This one brings us a new take on the world, a more indepth view of No Man's Land and what it's really like. We have heard about it in the previous 5 books, but Ruin Me really brings it to 'life'. What it's like to live outside the House system.
Gwen and Silas's story was a great read. It wasn't instant love for sure, because really what love EVER is? I really loved the storyline, watching the world develop and build, the ups and downs, but most of all, it had heart. We had purpose, sometimes even when we are 'bad, we are good.
I can't wait to see where our next book in the series takes us, but I'm glad to be along for the ride!
This book is such a fun read. I love the new books coming in this awesome world. The romance between Gwen and Silas. They have so much chemistry together. I love that they genuinely care about the other person and communicate a lot. Their meet cute was hilarious and I loved that this book is filled with tons of banter. The whole fated mates trope is done really well. I like that the two acknowledge that they are fated but give the other person the choice to break the bond. The sex scenes in this book are really steamy. I like that this book is steamier than other books in the previous series. The world building is awesome. I like how we keep on learning more about the world while also focusing on the main couple. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I’m going to start with, this one was not my favorite. The story was there and the characters were pretty good but the spark between the mates was not as strong. So many different authors are coming together to build this really cool and amazing world. I love that! I felt this was more of a mafia book than a supernatural book. This book didn’t have any connection to the others except them building their own house and Volker at the end like he was just thrown in there. You have your angels, vampires, fae and humans with not much going on to get that supernatural feel to it. I would recommend this book because it is a good book with good story. This one just didn’t feel as connected to the others.
