The Knight Brothers #2

Tag mig som jeg er

Rate this book

This is quick becoming one of my favorite series, I am really enjoying these books. Carly's writing is point on, her style, flawless to me.

Parker & Emily, you can tell they were written for each other😋, simply perfection in this story. It was nice to see Parker find his HEA, and the journey he takes to finally find his happy and comfortable spot. I loved how he went after what he wanted, took control, but still showed his loving kind heart.

Although this is the 3rd book in the series, this can be read as a stand alone although I highly recommend you read them all!!
Take Me Down is an emotional, sexy as hell, and altogether amazing read.

I recommend this one hands down to you contemporary romance lovers!!

Such a fun read!
It was quick and filled with all the goodness of two people getting to know each other and finding that the pull they have towards each other is more than either had ever thought to find.

I adored Parker. This man has been through a lot more than most realize, even his own family who he is very close to, but he keeps on going and is simply surviving. But his easy going nature and charisma were just as lethal as when he decided to step in and take charge in the best of ways. I really liked Emily, but man did I want to reach out and shake some sense into her in the beginning. I understood why she felt and acted the way she did, but she went a little further than was necessary. But once she took a step back, her heart and sassy nature came through and I ended up loving her.

Their journey to their HEA started off on a very rocky foot, but I loved how Parker took it all in stride and showed Emily the kind of man he really was. Their bantering, even when a little biting, was fun and I loved watching them become closer and found that they were exactly what they never knew they needed and wanted.

It was really easy to get lost in Parker and Emily’s story. It was engaging and I loved getting to know them and watch as they worked through the issues that had been chasing them. I loved James and Harper, and hope that we’ll see more of them down the road, and getting to catch up with Sebastian, Ashley and Sierra was a lot of fun. And then there is Ethan. This man...all I can say is that I cannot wait to get my hands on his book and watch him fall!

This is the second book in the Knight Brothers series and definitely one of my favorites! Parker Knight is just hands down swoon-worthy..... he's sex on a stick hot, compassionate, thoughtful but what happens when he meets a woman that lights a fire in him? Emily has sworn off men, especially after the hell she's been through.... that is until she meets Parker Knight! Parker and Emily know their time is limited with his business in New York and hers in Colorado but they plan to make the most of it and enjoy each other. Their story is sweet, sexy and one that will have you cheering for them to find love again in each other!

5 star review Take Me Down (The Knight Brothers #2) by Carly Phillips

I am really loving this latest series from Carly Phillips. There is somewthing about her style of writing that I love. The Knight Brothers series ticks all the boxes for me, from Alpha males, to feisty heroines and family love and support.

This is Parker Knight and Emily Stevens story and though not a particularly long read, Ms.Phillips certainly packed a whole lot of emotions into this book.

Parker has never really felt at home in the family business, an ex Olympic skier who was side lined due to injury, he knows that there is something missing and yet he just coasts along, not making waves, doing the jobs he is asked to do.

Sent to Colorado to scout a resort for a company retreat, Parker winds up at a run down B & B being run by Emily and her father.

Despite the obvious attraction that smoulders between them Emily is initially loath to let Parker in and trust him.

I loved how Parker embraced his feelings and focused on what he wanted. Emily had no chance once Parker set his mind on her.

Although the 3rd book in the series, this can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend you one click then all. I believe you may get more enjoyment if you read the previous books first.

Take Me Down was at times an emotional, totally hot and altogether great read. It was also fabulous to catch up with his siblings and their women.

Will Parker be able to help Emily with her controlling ex? Will Emily accept the financial assistance that he offers to her and her father? Will Parker and Emily finally get the happiness that they so richly deserve?

One click and find out.....

The second book of the Knight Brothers series follows middle brother Parker, who gets stranded on a trip to Colorado and meets his match in Emily, a stubborn, fiery woman. Emily has been through an awful marriage and I understood her reluctance to get to know Parker, but she was too jaded and came across rude. I'm glad she was able to let her guard down a bit and soften towards Parker. He was also able to get over past hurt and move forward with his life.
The inn was cute and I enjoyed seeing them fix it up. The back and forth narration was appreciated and this has a nicely written ending.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: TAKE ME DOWN is the second full-length instalment in Carly Phillips contemporary, adult THE KNIGHT BROTHERS erotic, romance series focusing on the Knight siblings, owners of Knight Time Technology. This is former world champion skier Parker Knight, and pastry chef Emily Stevens’ story line. TAKE ME DOWN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Emily and Parker) TAKE ME DOWN follows Parker Knight as he is tasked with locating a suitable venue for Knight Time Technology’s corporate retreat. Having rerouted himself toward Denver Colorado, Parker found himself stranded with car trouble in the small town of Montlake. Needing a place to stay our hero landed at the local B&B run by father and daughter James and Emily Stevens. What ensues is the tempestuous but building relationship between Emily and Parker, and the potential fall-out as Parker’s time in Colorado comes to a close.

Emily Stevens doesn’t do relationships, and under the circumstances, has refused all outside attempts at seduction and dating. A previous relationship has left her emotionally unavailable, that is until, Parker Knight arrives on the scenes. Parker Knight also struggles with a former relationship in that he is still paying for sins of the past. Meeting Emily Stevens gives Parker hopes for a future, that will quickly be dampened when his time in Colorado comes with an expiry date.

The relationship between Parker and Emily is one of immediate attraction but Emily’s feisty and off-putting attitude leaves something to be desire. Believing Parker is nothing but a spoiled, rich city boy, Emily battles between head and heart as it pertains to her growing attraction to our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

All of Parker’s siblings play secondary and supporting characters including the long suffering eldest brother Ethan Knight. We are introduced to Emily’s father James, as well as her best friend and café owner Harper Sanders. Ethan’s story is next in the author’s Dare/Knight crossover novel DARE ME TONIGHT.

TAKE ME DOWN is a story of family, friendship, struggle and betrayal. There are moments romance and love; betrayal and vengeance; realization and forgiveness. The premise is engaging ; the romance is seductive; the character are spunky, sassy and energetic.

I’m always looking for a new romance read. I just can’t get enough of romance stories, so when I read the book description of ‘Take Me Down’ I couldn’t resist and signed up. I don’t really love the cover, but as a fanatic reader I know I can’t judge a book by its cover. And I was super excited when I received the email telling me I was going to get an ARC.

In ‘Take Me Down’ we meet Emily Stevens and Parker Knight. Emily has recently moved back to the little town she grew up in to help her father take care of the little B&B. After a very bad previous relationship Emily simple doesn’t trust guys. And especially not city guys. But when Emily meets Parker she instantly feels an attraction for him, she simply can’t deny.
Parker has the nickname ‘Switzerland’, he doesn’t ever really take a stand in anything. But from the moment he meets Emily he knows he wants her more than he has ever wanted anything.

Emily Stevens is one of those characters I just loved right from the start. Emily is a baker, who would do everything for the people she loves. She has been through a lot lately and now she is doing everything she can to keep her dad save and be happy again. I enjoyed reading how Parker slowly won Emily over and the chemistry between these two characters was really fun.

I definitely enjoyed this read, but there were moments where I felt like things moved way to fast. For example the moment when Emily and Parker finally gave into their attraction. It felt like Emily somehow just forgot about how scared she was to get closer to Parker. And the moment Emily’s ex-husband came a long for the last time, it felt kind of sudden to me.

But still.. This book was a nice romance read that made me want to read more about those Knight Brothers. Especially when I read about Parker’s grumpy older brother Ethan.

I've been an avid fan of Carly Phillips since falling in love with the Dare Family--and the Knights have now turned into an equally automatic one-click for me. "Take Me Down" is the first read of this new world for me, but it won't be the last. I did love that I could jump in at Book 3, and easily followed what was happening. The cameos by Parker's sibs definitely made me want to go and read their stories, as well! But of course, the star of this show is Parker himself, who is absolutely my kind of hero. Oddly disillusioned and a little burned out, he's sent on a business trip that seriously doesn't excite him--until he's stranded in a quaint mountain town and entranced by the gorgeous, smart, sexy, but adorably down-to-earth Emily. The banter between these two is fantastic, and gave me everything I love from a Carly Phillips read: flirty fireworks and a lot of witty fun, layered on top of characters with heads telling them not to fall in love but hearts that say otherwise. The second half of the book, where things get more complicated (and steamier!) between the two, was absolutely the best part for me. I loved the final resolution and all the dreamy sighs it gave me. Now to go one-click on Books 1 and 2!!

This was a quick read for me, because I was so engrossed in the story, but it has surprising depths and unexpected hits straight to the heart. I’m so over the billionaire trope, but there’s just something about these Knight brothers that sucks me into their world and they effortlessly find a place in my heart.

Parker heads to Colorado to scope out the location for their next corporate retreat but ends up at a rundown B&B when his car breaks down. In no time, Parker finds himself entangled in the lives of the proprietor, James, and his daughter, Emily. Through helping Emily and her father, Parker learns to let go of grief and pain and manages to find himself, and he and Emily both work through dealing with losses from their past on their road to forever. Engrossing, touching, insightful and steamy, Take Me Down has something to please any romantic heart and is a terrific addition to the series.

I'm certainly glad I continued with this series because this book was better than the first one in this series and the Knight Brother's are an interesting family.

I liked both main characters and felt that the story developed smoothly.

I'm excited to read Ethan's story next since he has the most interesting back story.

Emily's life hasn't exactly gone to plan, she has been helping her father keep the Inn that he opened going but it seems like a lost cause. She would love to sell it and get her father settled comfortably somewhere else so she can move forward with her own dream of opening a bakery. Parker's dream of being a professional skier is no longer a viable one, after being in a series of accidents he can no longer preform like he could at one time. He is now stuck working in the family business and hates every minute of it. He would love to find another passion and get out of the rut the he has found himself in, it doesn't help that his brother has gone through a bad break up and is always on the war path. Two people both dreaming of a different life and better times. When Parker is tasked with finding a resort that would suit the needs for a company retreat he gets a little bit edgy. He hasn't been anywhere near a ski resort since his last accident. On the drive to look at a spot that might fit their needs he ends up with some car trouble and learns that it will be several days before the mechanic can fix the problem. Enter Emily, she has the only place that he can stay at in town. Follow along as these two dreamers dance around each other, both wanting things that they think they can't have. They both try for a casual fling but soon learn that there is nothing casual in the feelings that they are each having. Can they come together and make both of their dreams a reality or is it to late for both of them? This was a great romance that brought its characters to life. You so want both of them to be able to realize that life doesn't stop putting chances in front of you, all you have to do is take one.

Parker has all the money he could possibly want and Emily has a run down bed and breakfast that was her parents' dream but most certainly isn't hers.

What I loved about this story is that it's about 2 people who are not quite sure they are where they want to be, but aren't sure how to make the changes or if they want to. Watching them figure this out, while enjoying their connection made for a great read. It was light, and enjoyable...but also one that you could become involved in because you like both of the characters.

Part of me thought that the resolution of the was a little too easy, maybe a little too neat...but, it also worked overall. The connection between the characters was strong enough that I believed the end result, even if I thought it was a little easier than it would have been in real life.

Overall, I enjoyed this title and I recommend it.

I enjoyed this story of 2 unique people learning to fit together, and make their own place in the world.

Parker Knight lost his mother as a kid, and then his father was absent, always making time for one wife after another, but never his own children. Then, later, he was living his dream as an elite Olympic champion skier, when he lost his fiancee, and his dream career, all in one fatal car accident. His siblings have always called him Switzerland, first for his chosen career, and then for his penchant of never choosing sides during their many disagreements. Once his skiing dreams were dead, he went to grad school, and went to work for the family business, but it's never been his passion. When his eldest brother sends him to scout a resort for a corporate retreat in Colorado, he's less than thrilled. Especially when his car breaks down in a small town with one B&B, and the woman who runs it doesn't want to give him a room.

Emily Stevens went to culinary school, and she loves everything about baking. After finally leaving the big city, and her emotionally abusive husband, she's back home helping her dad run her parents' B&B. Her mom passed away not long after Emily returned home, and now she's terrified of losing her dad too. She wants him to sell the place and retire to Florida to be closer to her sister and her family. But he won't hear it. The inn needs so many repairs, and they can't afford to make any of them. Plus, her soon-to-be-ex-husband keeps popping up in town unexpectedly, and it's making her crazy. When she sees Parker's city boy look and attitude, and is attracted to him at first sight, she panics and denies him a room. She has no room in her life for another controlling rich guy.

Parker and Emily have a strong attraction from the start, but Emily is fighting it with everything she has. She especially gets angry with Parker when he decides to lend her father, James, the money to make the renovations to the inn. He's barging into her life and she does not appreciate his high-handedness. Parker hasn't been attracted to anyone in so long and Emily is everything he didn't know he was looking for. He's falling for her town, her inn, her dad, and even her best friend, Harper, and Parker are big fans of each other. Emily feels cornered, and is trying to remember to guard her heart, because Parker's life and family are in NYC, and she has no way of uprooting herself now, even if she were to want to.

The side plot with her ex had me interested, until it took a bit of a strange turn, and then I felt like we didn't really get any closure on it. We never even got to see Parker's reaction to everything that happened, and I felt like that was a missed opportunity. To be honest, that was my only real problem with this whole story, but it made me feel like the rest of the ending was a bit off, and I was waiting for the final part of this subplot, which didn't really happen. But I really enjoyed Emily's relationship with her best friend Harper, and with her dad, James. I'm also really hoping we'll be getting some sort of novella about Harper and the local mechanic she's been crushing on, Matt.

I loved Parker and Emily. They were really honest with each other, and I enjoyed their strong connection. Emily didn't let Parker get away with bulldozing her, and he had to learn to temper his impulses in that regard. He took her fears from her prior relationship seriously, and I liked that he always did his best to put her needs first. Parker's relationships with his siblings were great too, and I appreciate the way he didn't let his eldest brother Ethan get away with how he treated Emily, regardless of where his head was at. Ethan has A LOT of demons to work through and I'm very much looking forward to his book next. It's a crossover with the author's Dare series, and I'm thrilled to get to look back at that big, dysfunctional family again! Can't wait!

I’m always a fan of romances where the characters meet purely on accident, when a situation forces them into each other’s path and Carly Phillips’ Take Me Down does just that. Thrown together by fate, a small town woman and a big city man who have more in common than they realize give into their attraction even knowing that they live very different lives that will keep them apart.

To say Parker Knight’s life has been in turmoil for years is putting it mildly, but the minute he meets the prickly Emily Stevens he can’t help but be interested. She wants nothing to do with him as he reminds her too much of her soon to be ex-husband, but Parker immerses himself in her family’s inn and the small town and soon she can’t help but fall for his charms.

It took me awhile to warm up to Emily; she was unreasonably harsh to Parker from the start comparing him to her ex without even talking with him. I get that she’d been hurt, that she was trying to rebuild her life, but her actions were not warranted. Parker on the other hand liked that she was spunky and was determined to win her over. I enjoyed seeing Parker excited about life again, it’s not that in the previous books he’d been horrible, but it was obvious that life had dealt him a raw deal and he was still recovering.

Watching them unload their baggage with one another and the fact that Emily soon saw Parker was nothing like her ex, and Parker appreciated Emily just as she was soon led them to act on their attraction where their feeling grew quickly. I did like these two together and as Emily softened, she grew on me, but it was Parker I really loved.

Intriguing, emotional, and sexy I thoroughly enjoyed Take Me Down by Carly Phillips.

This book is an example of why I do my hardest to get my hands on each and every book Carly writes. I unfortunately missed the first in this series, which I need to rectify, but I still enjoyed this immensely and didn't feel lost at all. It is a standalone so no worries if you haven't yet either. I fell in love with Parker and I just know that the Knight Brothers will become another favorite of mine for sure.

Parker has just been existing, not living. He has been through a lot and is riddled with guilt and has let that keep him from finding what he wants to do with his life and just doing what he feels he should. He is the chill one in the family and doesn't stir up things in their family. When told to go on a trip that is in the last place he wanted he does anyway never expecting his life to change so drastically.

Emily is taking her life back but first in order to do what she really wants she needs to make sure her dad is taken care of. She wants one thing and it may not be what he wants. She also has some baggage that she needs to get rid of so the last thing she is looking for is a man, especially a smooth, sexy man from the city. She isn't about to make things easy for Parker. She is feisty and a definite spitfire and she may be just what Parker needs and maybe he might be just what she needs. But life is never easy and when life comes knocking they may not be able to find their happy endings since they both have obligations in different states.

This is another wonderful read by Carly. She delivered a book that kept me entertained and completely engrossed. I was rooting for this couple to find their happy ending and I never saw how some things play out in this book and I freaking LOVE that. I am looking forward to the next in this series and just know it is going to knock my socks off.

This was so beautiful!

But first; Ethan! I am very excited about how his story will develop in the follow-ups! He is truly a jerk but maybe he will be redeemed?

As for the book itself, I thought it to be an engaging and enjoyable read. Take Me Down had all the elements and ingredients needed for a good and hot romance. There is such emotion, the right amount of sweetness and the characters were wonderful. I thought the pace of the story was lacking but not enough to have me subtract a star. I liked Emily, felt really connected to the lead role and though it took me a month to finish this (I am a mom so do not have all the time in the world,) this was a quick and easy to read book.

I would happily recommend it to others.

Oh how I love this family. They have wormed their way into my heart and I can't get enough.

In this book they are looking for a place for a corporate retreat, one in the mountains. The person in charge of checking out the different resorts had surgery and now is unable to continue the search. Now the only Ethan can think of qualified to select such a place is Parker.

An Bronze Metal Olympic skier, Parker had sustained an injury during trials, followed by a car accident as he returned to the sport, that left him more than physically injured. He hasn't been anywhere near the slopes since then. So this expedition isn't exactly what he wants to do but perhaps it's exactly what he needs.

As Parker is looking for the perfect place when his rental car starts acting strange so he stops at a small town garage. The car's problem will have him stranded for a while. This is where things start to get interesting.

The recommend inn is not really open for business, and in a bit of disrepair, but the owner James Stevens has a dream to fulfill. His daughter Emily thinks otherwise and has a few demons to exercise thanks to her ex.

With a place to stay, Parker also finds himself attracted to the prickly Emily and interested in helping her father restore the inn.

Emily on the other hand, is fighting the attraction. He reminds her of her ex and he is undermining her plans for her father. Plans her father really isn't interested in.

Fun, revelations, romance, suspense and so much more make this a page turning read.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series - and I would say that you would benefit from reading these books in order to understand the background to the Knight brothers behaviour and rationale.

In this installment, Parker, the least business interested brother gets his story told in full. We know that he is a reluctant part of the business, but he is loyal to his brothers, and realises that Ethan, who always behaved like a father to him, needs him to step up. So even though he does not want to go and view ski chalets in Montana for a company retreat, he does. A car problem leads to him staying in a rather run down B&B and meeting the woman who will change his life forever.

Emily has left a terrible marriage to a city slicker type, and is back home with her Dad, still grieving the death of her mother. She is busy baking for her best friend's coffee shop, and trying to persuade her Dad to move to Florida. So when the Parker steps into the B&B, she is in total denial of the chemistry which is evident from that very minute. We are the very happy audience, watching the crazy but inevitable unfold before us. She is a lovely person, who has worked out how she let life get away from her, and intends to never lose her independence again. Given how important Parker values being in control, you can only imagine the issues this causes.

I love how both Parker and Emily both have a need to reconcile their needs and wants to give them a chance at a future. Living half a country away is the least of their issues ... which is a bit of a problem! They are both such lovely people, that one can only wish they sort it out sooner than later.

Lovely addition to the series - and wow, Ethan getting his HEA in the next book ... that is going to be one tough nut to crack - but I have little doubt that Phillips has the very person lined up and ready to go the distance.

~ 5 City Boy Stars ~

Take Me Down is a great addition to the Knight Brothers Series by Carly Phillips.

I think Parker Knight is my favorite Knight so far. I absolutely loved his character. He was the perfect mix of Alpha possessive and man with a soft and loving heart. He had me swooning throughout the whole story.

Take Me Down is the 3rd book in this series and can be read as a standalone. My recommendation would be to read this series in order. I think the family dynamic is better felt and understood if read in order. I also think there could be minor spoilers for the previous books. This story is a chance meeting romance. Two broken souls who happen to just meet. It is told in the third person Dual POV. I really enjoyed this book. It is a fairly quick read, but that could be because I was so engrossed in the characters lives. I had a hard time putting it down.

In this story we follow Parker and Emily’s story. Parker is the middle sibling and works for the family business. he isn’t happy with this, but after a tragic accident, his skiing career was done. His brother sends him to Colorado to check out a resort they can use for a corporate retreat. When Parker gets to Colorado, he isn’t impressed by the resort and starts to travel around to see what he can see. That is until the rental car has trouble he is forced to stay at a run down B&B in a small town. Enter Emily and her dad James. Emily is a small town baker and loves her dad a lot. When Parker and Emily meet the attraction is instant, but Emily is not happy to have another “city boy” enter her life. Can these two see eye to eye and find their HEA? What happens when Emily’s past won’t let her go?? Read this book to find out.

I loved both Emily and Parker. Like I said Parker is my favorite Knight so far. They were both broken from past relationships that didn’t end so well. I loved watching these two grow into themselves. Learning to face their fears. Also they learned how to love and heal through each other.

I enjoyed seeing Sebastian, Ashley, Sierra and even Ethan (oldest sibling) Although I hope Ethan’s attitude changes when it comes time to his book. He rubbed me the wrong way in this story.

If you are a fan of Carly Phillip’s books or the chance meeting romance, then this is a story you don’t want to miss. I would 100% recommend this book/series to all romance readers.

I honestly can not say enough about this author. The Dare books are ones of my very favorite books ever, but The Knight Brothers have successfully wormed their way into my heart. I loved Sebastian (book 1) and I loved Sierra (their sister and book 1.5) and Parker's book was no different. I really loved everything about this book. Emily is my kind of heroine for sure. She is strong and stubborn. She is vulnerable and quite a spitfire. I can not say enough about this book. Actually all of this author's books are FANTASTIC!!! If you haven't read this author be prepared because this book will make want to go and buy all her books. I must say that I am more than anxious to read the next book which is Ethan's story. I fell in love with Ethan in book 1 and I am on pins and needles waiting for his book to come out. GO BUY ALL THIS AUTHOR'S BOOKS. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Neither Parker nor Emily was looking for love. Each is just trying to hold their families together and survive life. Parker's life hasn't been easy, losing his mom at an early age and then his father virtually abandoning his children after her death, to the tragic automobile accident that killed his fiancee' and his skiing career.

Emily has lived the dream, leaving small town Colorado for the big city living of Chicago where she met who she thought was the man of her dreams. Turns out, he wanted to mold her into the woman he wanted her to be rather than love the woman she was. Returning to her hometown to take care of her dying mother, she left the city, the job and her husband.

Now she just wants to be herself, take care of her father and figure out how to make her dreams come true. Parker on the other hand is just in Colorado to do a job for his brother. He's not looking for love, his guilt is still weighing him down.

I really enjoyed this installment and can't wait for Ethan's book.

The Knights are a force to be reckoned with. They work hard, fight hard and love completely. The family mantra? "Easy is not good enough, to be the best requires work." Words they take to heart in their professional and personal lives. Sebastian and Sierra fought their demons to come out on top, now it's Parker's turn. Take Me Down is the journey of two broken hearts merging into a soulful unit. Life has not always been kind to Parker or Emily, maybe this time fate finally got it right. Phillips takes heartbreaker to heart.

*I received an ARC for an honest review*

Carly never fails me and I love this story too!

Emily is a small town girl who runs a run down B&B with her dad but to their dismay it is falling apart.

Parker is a city boy who is a former Olympic Skier and is in “zombie mode” when it comes to helping his brothers with their family business. His heart and mind is not in it so when the chance to scout a potential retreat for their company, he jumps at the chance and heads to the mountains.

While scouting a location, his rental car breaks down. He ends up at Emily’s B&B and he is instantly smitten with her. Emily is not interested in dating especially a business man like Parker.

They say opposites attract, is that the case here? Will they give in to their attraction to see where this all goes?

*happy sigh* god I loved this. Take me down is a light, sweet read with some serious feels thrown in that had me totally hooked. A true example of the genre this book is full on bursting with romance that makes you swoon. A strong heroine with the weight of the world on her shoulders, a kind hearted hero who wants nothing more than to help her family Parker and Emily are what romance readers dream of.
I adored Emily for her strength and staying true to herself. She could have easily been a doormat who handed the reigns over to Parker the second he swooped in but she didn’t. She stood on her own two feet and learned to work together building a love that included a true partnership and that is something I truly loved. Parker was also great in that regard. He didn’t want to take the reigns from her, he simply wanted to help the woman he was coming to love.
Outside of that these two each have their own emotional scars from their pasts to work through, and boy do they. Their journey to happiness is an addictive ride that will completely steal your heart.

Take Me Down (The Knight Brothers #2) by Carly Phillips

M/F Romance
Triggers: stalking
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is Parker's story. While you don't need to read the previous books in order to understand what's going on, it does give Parker's brother more context.

Parker is OK with his life. He likes working with his family and despite having some bumps in his road, is feeling pretty good about where he is. When his grump of a brother asks him for a favor, Parker is sent to Montana to scout resorts for a corporate retreat. What he finds instead, is a feisty woman and a great, father figure.

I really liked Emily. Despite her nature to not trust, once she makes up her mind about something, she sticks to it. She was strong when she needed to be, but also vulnerable. It helped to make her more relatable. I loved her dad. He was hilarious and reminded me of my grandpa. Emily has had a bad experience with men and therefore is immediately ill at ease with Parker and his slick, city ways.

Watching these two dance around each other and figure out who they are together was fun. They were witty, sensitive and really brought out the best in each other. Both Parker and Emily will have to make some huge life decisions and find out if they can truly make the most out of their situation. I am looking forward to more books.

Heartwarming, emotional and totally swoonworthy

From the very first page TAKE ME DOWN had me and it just wouldn't let go. Carly Phillips trapped me with her magical words and two beautiful characters that I instantly fell for. Parker Knight and Emily Stevens are perfect together.

Parker is a "city boy", however working in the family business was never his dream. Injured in a skiing accident while preparing for the Olympics, and then later in a car accident, Parker's dreams are no longer. So, he settles for what he has, but something is missing. Emily is a country girl at heart. A traumatic relationship has led her back home to her father, and a rundown B&B they hope to renovate and run together. A broken car leads to a meeting between the two, and it's not pleasant.

Even though their initial meeting is not exactly friendly, it is obvious that there is an instant attraction. Emily fights it all the way, due to her previous relationship, whereas Parker does everything he can to change her mind. As Emily's past catches up with her Parker's protective alpha comes out to play, but so does his tender side. Can Parker be the man who is able to show Emily not all "city boys" are the same? Is Emily able to open her heart up to a man who has shown her nothing but kindness?

I really enjoyed Parker and Emily's story. Two people struggling to overcome their past, learning to confront their fears and love once again. It was heartwarming, emotional, funny, with a touch of drama thrown in. It was good to catch up with Parker's siblings, although I could have very easily punched Ethan. His book is next, and I can't wait to see a woman who will put him in his place.

Take Me Down is definitely a recommended read. It is a standalone, but to get some background do yourself a favour and read the previous ones as well.

"He hadn't intended to tie himself to the town but that was exactly what he'd done. But the strongest of the roots he'd be leaving here was his heart."

Parker Knight is a businessman. In his suit and tie, he strolls through the streets of Manhattan, where his family's business is. But this is not the life that makes him happy. An accident in the past has changed the course of his career and brought him a difficult guilt to overcome. Now, a task given by his older brother and a broken car in the middle of Colorado will lead him to a meeting that may, once again, change his life.

Emily Stevens has a degree in gastronomy and has lived in Chicago. She met a handsome prince and lived a fairy tale. Until she saw the true colors of her husband and her castle of cards crumbles. Her mother's illness, the discovery of her husband's real intentions and an accident make her return to her hometown and rethink her life.

Both have a past to handle and things to overcome. More and more, Parker delights himself with the city and with the charming and strong-minded girl, full of talent in the kitchen and who does everything to keep him away. After two painful losses and getting rid of a controlling husband, all Emily does not want is to fall for another big city cocky guy. But resisting Parker's charm is getting harder and harder.

Yes, it is a cliché with a predictable end. Full of tenderness, which shows the importance of family, forgiveness, second chances. Especially giving a second chance to ourselves. A reading to warm the soul and the heart.

I love this series! I’ve felt bad for Parker in the previous book when he had to quit skiing and lost his fiancé. I feel like he has been muddling along. I was so glad his brother sent him to Colorado to find a resort for their company get away. When he gets stuck in the small town in Colorado, and is taken to the small, rundown B&B I think it was the best thing to happen to him. Of course his first meeting with Emily whose father owns the B&B did not start out well. But when I found out what she was going through, I totally understood. Emily’s best friend Harper was great helping Emily. Ms. Phillips has such a talent to pull you into the story where you are part of it and can’t put the book down. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of the book.

What a phenomenal story! I could so relate to this tale of the youngest brother, who had his professional skiing career cut short due to a car crash that killed his wife! And after moving back to Colorado and falling in love, he eventually realized she/ his new love, was home!
