Sidney ♥️

This story was a bit of a rollercoaster. And I was surprised by the trio vs duo POV, but of course it makes sense that it was set up that way.
Some aspects of the story were certainly more predictable than others, and there were some aspects that deviated from what I anticipated or threw me off entirely.

The epilogue was another rollercoaster, but the 2nd part of it was especially fun. I’m interested to see what happens with the rest of the characters. I liked how we got glimpses at so many of them, but not quite enough to know for sure who ends up with who whatnot, though I’m even more curious now.

My biggest complaint is probably the trend that it seems like each of the stories will have where there’s some kind of massive conflict that leads to a prolonged separation and heartbreak. I have to say that that gets especially annoying in a series, particularly when each book kind of follows that same formula. It becomes that much more predictable, which means I’m reading the 2nd half of the book just waiting for that other shoe to drop & dreading it. I’m also disappointed that so far, it seems to be a trend where the person who’s responsible for all hell breaking lose doesn’t really seem to suffer any consequences. That’s rather disappointing.

That being said, I’ll probably be starting on the next book pretty much right away.

I was so surprised to find myself making this so highly rated! While the rating is a five-star in this format I am really giving it a 4.75 with having to round up but still one of the highest rated books I've had this year. While I liked the first book it just didn't grab my attention enough. But this book had it all. I was laughing so hard when the baby first showed up in the story and laughed out loud several other times as the book went on. I was then almost in tears towards the end of the book so when a book can cause both emotions from me, I'm going to make sure it gets the rating it deserves. As with the first book the writing was good. I have never read a book with the "brother's point of view" so that was another thing I really liked in this book. Usually all of the brother's best friend trope books you get just the 2 main characters point of view but this one had Bash's point of view along with the 2 main characters. I was a little confused when the book started off with him because I thought I was reading about Sid but it all made sense as I read on and worked really well.

The only couple things I would say about the book negatively that brought it down from a 5-star read was that it was a little too long. The middle kind of dragged on a little bit. Also, I felt like there was not a lot of insight from Sidney's point of view towards the end when everything kind of "hit the fan". I would have liked maybe a chapter or a little more focus on his emotions and what he was going through at that time.

Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the brother's best friend and rockstar romance trope. In the first book the band was pretty unknown for the most part. In this book they are starting to get their big break so the rockstar part of it isn't heavily present other than some towards the end. I'm off to start book three as I have a feeling it's going to have more rockstar elements than the first two if the timeline keeps progressing in the way it should.

This book had a rough start, for me. I was tempted to drop it (and thus the rest of the series) before I even got 10% into it. I just couldn't get into it. It was throwing me off with the POV changing between Bash and Sid, too. We finally get one from Kaylie about 10% in.
I understand now that it was to show Bash's growth from the beginning,  but all it really did for me was spoil a later reveal.

Once i got to where Kaylie was in the book, it helped, but there were still definite slow bits for me to get through. My biggest issue was the end, though. Sid said he would call, then all of a sudden, it has been a couple months, and everything was good again. That sudden jump was extremely jarring.

The end seemed to fizzle out for me, too. There didn't really seem to be much to confront Charlie about what he did other than a cease and desist. Then, in the epilogue (4 years later), there were definite spoilers on things that would happen in later books. They may not be blatant or spelled out, but it was too much extra new info/people to just tack it on there.

I think i saw one grammatical issue, but not 100% sure. Otherwise, it seemed ok.

I doubt I will read this book again. I may recommend it to others, but probably not. It was not nearly as good as the first book.

wow

Wow, just wow! I thoroughly fell in love with the characters in this story! I just wanted to take Sydney in my arms and hug the life from him. His story was heartfelt and tragic, but he turned his life around. His love came shining through. Kaylie was so kind and sensitive, loyal to a fault. She had her sights set on Sydney and never wavered. The other characters were also so endearing. The only problem with this book Arabella is your proofreader. You couldn’t even get names right. You had Kaylie some places and Kalie in others. You also called her brother, Brent, Brett so many times. There were wrong words in sentences. It just makes it very distracting. For as much as you have charged for this book, it should be a professional book. Not some thing at 10th grader would turn into their teacher. Don’t get me wrong. I love the story that’s the only reason I finished this book and will read the next one, but have a little pride in your work. If your proof reader isn’t working out, get rid of them, find somebody who will. So many people want and need a job.

Great second book in the series.

Slightly different format being told from the point of view of Kaylie, Sid and (Kaylie’s brother/Sid’s best friend) Bash. This is the love story of Kaylie and Sid but Bash is a massive part of their story.
I found the storytelling a little disjointed at times but nothing that spoiled it, but the entire chapter where Kaylies name was mistakenly written as Kylie and then her other brother Brent being referred to as Brett was annoying, it spoils the flow of the story for me, if only temporarily.
On the whole though, it was an excellent story and had me in tears multiple times.

Sidney and Kaylie

Sidneys backstory is heartbreaking, filled with abuse and neglect. So when a baby is dropped off at his and Bashes apartment he takes on the role of dad. The note left with the baby really didn't offer any clue on who the father is or the mother.

Kaylie has always had a crush on Sidney but being Bashes younger sister always seemed to get in the way.

I won't get into detail but this book has all the drama, lust, sex, and throw a baby into the mix. I definitely enjoyed the tears and laughs as well as the heat.

Conflicts

This story is about a rock band and what goes onaround them. Bash and Sidney have a baby dropped off at their door not explaining who the father is.
Different twists from where Sidney falls for Bash's little sister who is 23, and ends being sexually asphalted on the street and the internet.
Together with their family and friends, they are be find happiness. I enjoyed this book because it covers sexual abuse, addiction, family services, foster children, charites and finding love.

Edgy Read

I found this novel to be an edgy read what with all the developments that unfolded. Great characters, well developed and most intriguing. Life took on many a twist and turn in the telling. There were life happenings that paralled real closely and the tension virtually lifted off some pages. Too, there were many pathos presented and some just so sad in how some issues in life do not necessarily have a resolution. True to life.

Good Stuff!!

Ohhh... So love this series!

I absolutely love this series! The characters are each so unique and the stories are sexy, dramatic, and I'm only two books in but I've been laughing and crying through both. I grew up in the late 70s and was a huge rock and roll fan, still am but its called " classic rock" now, so I really love these story themes. I purchased the whole series so I can't wait to read about all the band members!

Amazing Story

This book has so much complexity and depth to it. Rock and Roll Fame, Baby left at the door, unrequited love that finds a way through all the crazy going on. Add in a vindication ex that shares a video of you that you didn’t consent to. Trauma of the video, fear of losing the one person you really need, because of shame. Can friendship’s survive when they find out who the father of the baby really is. Find out in this incredible journey!!

One of the best rockstar heros

I really liked this book. Sid is the best guy and Kaylee almost loses everything. The baby in this book was the main focus of everyone and that really touched me. Could have used some more spice, but what there was was good. Sid is the whole package!

I liked Ryder and Talia’s story. But I loved Kaylie and Sid’s story more. Sid melted my heart.

Solid 3.5 - the drama was a little much but also a bit surface somehow, lost me a little at the end when they just skimmed over the re-coupling (like what - why skim over the reconciliation???)

Sweet and tender

The story was well written, easy to follow and romantic. S&k seemed to have old soul love, the kind we all crave and mourn if we don't have it.
