THE CROW LORD has wickedly crawled its way into one of my favorite reads of the year 😈 let’s just say I’ve been swooning for the past 3 days over this charming yet insufferable vampire lord.

This is a DARK 18+ vampire romance and the story starts with the female lead literally running for her life 💀 all vampires covet what they can’t have.. and they will basically go to war for the girl who’s touch resembles warm sunlight, what every vampire desires the most.

Prepare yourselves for:
🩸forced proximity slow burn
🩸who did this to you
🩸touch her and I’ll kill you
🩸he steals her away and heals her
🩸monster romance
🩸good girl

Also besides the romance (which is sooo good) what really intrigued me is the 4 vampire houses, their different familiars and venoms 😈 putting a new twist to the vampire lore! The Crow Lord ofcourse has the best venom hehe he could bite me anyday…

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

“Present company is first in both lines, darling. You'd be forgetting your own name by the time I even touched you, and I would forget my every purpose —as though I was solely made for pleasuring you in this immortal existence.”

“You’re the closest thing to sunlight, I have felt in a long time.”

"But there is a fire in you, and I think I'd like to set it ablaze and watch it burn the world down."

"You naughty little thing. I want to f*ck that little mouse right out of you till you're the one telling me to beg." His hand glided up her thigh until his thumb slid under the strap of her thong. "You have that power over me, you know. I would wear a collar for the rest of eternity if it meant you'd send me down on my knees and tell me to feast on you forever." “But...I'd only do that for a good girl. Now, are you going to be good for me?"

I literally feel like I just woke from the most lush fever dream. From the moment the book started the world building pulled me in. The world is dark, but so much beauty is around every corner. There were so many little Easter eggs for vampire lovers, intentional or not; and each time I found a new one I was giddy.

The FMC Lila, starts as meek little mouse and grows into the most brazen badass crow by the end and it was like I was right along side her through that growth. I love the way she saw the world around her despite the trauma she has lived through. I love her fight and selflessness. She is just as loyal to her brother as she is to her new found family and I resonate with that deeply. The MMC Ambrose Draven has the mouth of my dreams and the banter between the two of them drove me wild. I love the way he cares for his people, the way he helps Lila fight for herself, and how he saw her for the goddess she was even when she showed up as the meek mouse.

This book is romantic, witty, sexy, and quite terrifying at times. It is EVERYTHING I wanted for my return to fantasy and I loved every last minute of it. I had to stop a few times when the spice was spicing’ if you know what I mean. I cannot wait for book 2.

Title: The Crow Lord

Author: J.M. Failde

Synopsis: What will you give me?” His voice again was like melted gold. Like a whisper in the bedroom.

Review: This audiobook was incredible! The voice actress and voice actor for the main characters were impeccable! They sound just like how I imagined they would! Their voices went so well with this dark and atmospheric story! I’m so incredibly excited for book two!

Ok so I absolutely loved this one... ugh this line had me " “And what should I call you? Unless you like being called Mouse.” eeeee! yep we have a sexy vampire story.

The Crow Lord is dark, spicy, mysterious... perfect for lovers of vampire/human romance, "who did this to you", forced proximity, captured but good girl tropes. The eerie setting was absolutely luring, it hooked me from the start. I loved the description of the characters, the inclusion of being different, and the mix of townfolk with the vampires.

The plot definitely kept me hooked from the first page. The abilities of the vampires were interesting. This is the story of a girl and her brother that serve as pets for the darker vampires, ones who feast on human blood. Lila needs a way out and this she does through a bargain. The worldbuilding was one of my favorite aspects of the book. I cannot wait to continue this series.

huge thanks to the author for sending this my way. All opinions are my own

I genuinely really loved this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Was it perfectly written? No, some writing errors here and there. Was some of the vampire lore cliche? A little, when it came to coffins & walking up walls. Did I care? Nope! It honestly made it feel very different from other vampire stories I’ve read, gave it a vintage gothey vibe & I honestly enjoyed it! & Ambrose 😍 If Rhysand is one of your book boyfriends then. you. will. love. this. Also, loved the idea of Lila being the literal sunshine that every vampire craves ☀️ Can’t wait to find out more about her abilities. So many questions left unanswered has me dying for the next book!

🌙 Enemies to lovers
🌙 Vampires Lords
🌙 Bargains
🌙 Mind-Speaking
🌙 MMC trains meek FMC into a vampire hunter
🌙 Monster love

🌶️🌶️🌶️ The spice was just enough to keep me satisfied 😚👌🏼

Another good vamp story to add to the completed list! Wow, this book did not go how I imagined it. Just by going off the cover.
—It really surprised me how much I enjoyed, and got into it!

This story really follows the vampire cliches, and if you like vamps, it’s SO entertaining. My reactions at first were “wait, WHAT” to “ohhhh, yes” 😂
Think Damon from TVDs personality, but on a regal, proper fantasy looking vamp. -hilarious and so sensual ❤️‍🔥

I loved the premise, the mystery, the banter, sooo many innuendos (it was bloody funny), yearning, and drama.
The ending and tension between the Lilah and Ambrose is what truly captivated me— HOW COULD YOU DO THAT!?

I thought the VA’s did a great job, and the more you listened, the more the character’s personalities came through.
I haven’t come across a third person POV, but it quickly became familiar. This was thoroughly entertaining, especially the second half of the story. 🖤

Thank you for the opportunity to listen and enter Malvania @jmfailde @bluenoseaudio.

SO GOOD

Okay well what am I supposed to do with that cliffhanger 😱 this book was SO GOOD!!! Highly recommend for anyone who loves a morally grey love interest that gives Rhysand vibes or anyone who enjoyed the dark, vampire aspect of Serpent and the Wings of Night. I think fans of FBAA would also really love this book!

Cannot wait to see what happens in book two! Dying for Lila to get some revenge and I def anticipate that happening soon 👀

DNF @ 30%.
I’m still rating it 2 stars because I reserve my 1 stars for books that actively offend me, which this did not do.

At the time of writing this, this book has crazy good reviews, with a 4.7/5 average from 33 reviews.
So at least thirty individuals before me absolutely loved it…

… But I’m sorry, I really don’t understand how that can be, because I found it so DULL. And strangely sloppy!! Is it the writing? The pacing? The blah-characters and the colourless direction?

I’ve been trying not to fall asleep since the third chapter.

I wondered if I should start skim-reading, but with 70% left to go, I figured it would take more effort to even try and grasp just the skimmed parts when I’m clearly not invested in seeing where this story goes or what happens to Lila & Ambrose.

Sorry, I guess this one’s just not for me.

Dnf @21%

Almost 100 pages in and I can’t get myself into the story enough to keep going. I sometimes struggle with 3rd person as it is, but this story is almost entirely *tell* and not *show*

Everything feels rushed and major plot points just happen very early on with no build-up or mystery or anticipation. It’s just very matter of fact; like a list of things that happen in order. It reads like a children’s chapter book with adult language and themes.

My goodness this book. I love Lila. And whoa Ambrose. Seriously. This forced proximity, vampires and courts and twists and turns. Striking up bargains to save her brother, being captured and having to trust someone who could kill you so easily to save. This book was dark. And delicious. If you love vampire romance, devour this book.

If you love anything with vampires you’ll love this! There’s Vampires and secrets what more can you ask for Ohh that’s spice!

Fact-check vampires' secrets and spice among other things. As usual, I’ll tell you guys what I love to say you won’t be disappointed with this one.

The story is told perfectly the author does a great job of getting right to the point In my opinion you get to experience things both through her eyes and outside with different POVs

The audio is done amazingly it’s a duet it truly brings the story to life The narrators do a great job of bringing the characters to life and making you feel like they brought the story to the next level.

The story’s great on its own. the narration takes it up to another level of pulling your attention. Yes the story pulls your attention naturally but once you hear the narration your hooked you’ll wanna know more

A lot is going on so buckle up when you do read or listen to this one. If you’re looking for something that’s gonna have you gasping and saying what?! Over and over. This is the book for you.

Thank you to the author and Blue Nose for allowing me this opportunity to listen to this ALC.

I have tried reading this on three separate occasions, and I have finally finished it.

This has everything I am supposed to love.

Vampires,Revenge, Romance...

I think maybe the pacing has to do with why I had such difficulty. It is slow in the beginning. I feel I could guess exactly what was going to happen.
Although the pacing and plot do pick-up near the end, it just just left me wanting more from the story.

I received this book as an ARC, and I fell in love with it from chapter one. It captivated me. I love a good vampire story but this one is just another level. The growth of the characters and how the story flowed and in unraveled with the mystery that kept me flipping the pages and I couldn’t read fast enough !! Laila’s determination and strength ❤️ It definitely kept me at the edge of my seat and couldn’t put it down. Laila and Ambrose are everything and I am in love with them. The slow burn, teasing and flirting oh my God it drove me crazy. No spoilers but be prepared for an epic ending that will just leave you wanting more 😭😭 can’t wait till book 2

✨✨I have received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I am obsessed with this book. I ATE IT UP. It was so good I was literally sad when I finished and wanted to read it again after the last page lol.
I have a huge thing for Daddy Ambrose!!!

I was LIVING for the flirty banter between the two main characters and the tension was KILLING ME. I was awake until 4 am giggling and kicking my feet in the air once their relationship started going where I needed it to go.

I also absolutely ADORED “Lilac” she was adorable, resilient. Just an overall amazing character.

Again, because I cannot stress this enough…I. AM. OBSESSED.

To make things even better there is going to be A SECOND BOOK!!! Which ultimately gives me an excuse for a reread anyway so I love that for me.

Now, this book is written in 3rd person and I know some people are funny about that but please give it a chance because it was TEWWWWWW GOOD.

My aunts are book worms like me and I was GUSHING over this book last night during thanksgiving dinner. I seriously cannot wait for book two.

I am obsessed with J.M. Now and will buy everything she writes, it can be a grocery list I do not care. Please read this because I’m still thinking about it several hours after finishing it

The Crow Lord by J. M. Failde is the first book in The Vampires of Malvani series and I absolutely loved it and devoured it!!

The book is written from one POV, the MFC Lila. Her character goes from flight to fight. She takes back the power that was taken from her and she will do anything for the ones she loves. Lord Ambrose Draven, is the morally Grey MMC, he is the Vampire Lord of The Crow Court. He is dark and mysterious and what more do we want😂.

The book was everything I wanted and more. There was spice 🌶🌶🌶, chemistry and vampires . The book ended on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book. I will just have to reread this while I wait......

If you like Forced Proximity, Unwilling Allies, Touch Her and Die, Only one bed and Enemies to Lovers you will love this book. It is ACOTAR meets Iron Flame.

!! Please read the trigger warnings before reading this book!!

Thank you Sunny Babe PR and J. M. Failde for sending me this ARC for an honest Review.

Did I get a different book than everyone else???

This was like reading a wattpad fanfiction.

The stereotypical vampire things- lack of reflection, walking on ceilings, the coffin??? were driving me insane. And the strigoi?? Still confused on their creation.

The banter between Lila and Ambrose seem forced and cringy. And Lila came off as a child with her “meek” demeanor so it was super awkward when Ambrose “flirted” (in quotes because it wasn’t flirting, it was just saying dirty things that half the time didn’t even make sense or match the mood of the scene.) with her.

2.5 stars. was going to round up because ambrose is hot, but i’m not that nice

edit: is this book british? because thinking back to how weird the dialogue is, it seemed kinda british?

Thank you BlueNose for the opportunity to listen to this ALC!

The narration was performed in duet by Raven Wildewood and Ryan Stone. Raven Wildewood brought out the personality of Lila perfectly and Ryan Stone didn’t dissapoint as Ambrose. His ability to add heat to the characters delicious words was fire! 🥵 They both done an amazing job. I loved their voices and how well they fit the characters!

First chapter I wasn’t sure I’d like this but, I quickly got into the story. The world, the different manors and types of vampires, the history, the lineage of the MFC, the twist and turns. I ate it up! The MMC, Ambrose, is a hot, protective, tattooed, vampire. He was defiantly my favorite character. The MFC, Lila, I also liked but, she seemed too childlike for this story at times. However, with her history and learning more about her it was understandable why she seemed much younger than her actual age in the beginning. As the story progresses her character does seem more her age. By the end, she becomes quite the fierce, strong, young woman actually. Speaking of the end… what a cliffhanger!! I need to know more asap! I can’t wait for answers and to know what happens next!

J.M. Failde done an amazing job writing this. The plot, the characters, the banter between them, the moments I didn’t see coming, it was all so good. I’m definitely looking forward to discovering more!

I enjoyed listening to this story. I give it 4 ⭐️ and 3 🌶️
If you like dark romance, vampires, forced proximity, and an MMC who’s possessive and has the whole touch her and ☠️ vibe going, you’ll enjoy The Crow Lord!

Synopsis:🐦‍⬛✨

When 22 year old Lila Bran finds herself searching for her brother and running for her life from the three malicious siblings of the Viper Morada, one of the four vampire manors of Malvania, she soon finds herself stumbling into the manor of Ambrose Draven, the charming Crow Lord himself, seeking refuge.

Ambrose offers Lila a deal - her safety in exchange for 5 favors. Without much choice, Lila takes the deal and her life and circumstances change forever.

Review:🐦‍⬛✨

When I tell you I devoured this book in such a short amount of time - I could not stop thinking about it and I stayed up way too late, convincing myself I had time to read one more chapter well into the night. I was well hooked.

Readers are thrown right into the action from the very start and it does not relent. It is well paced, well written and JM does an exceptional job at world building. And a hot, charming, strong vampire lord with a voice like liquid gold is quite literally always what I want in an MMC. Lila as the FMC has an inspiring journey, as we see her go from meek and submissive to powerful and confident, taking back her life from those who have held her captive for so long.

There are tropes abound with found family, forced proximity, slow burn, one bed, “touch her and I’ll **** you,” - something for everyone. I don’t highlight things in my kindle often, but this book had me highlighting Ambrose’s dialogue in almost every chapter and simultaneously kicking my feet in fits of glee. Who doesn’t love a well placed “good girl.”

The spicy scenes are 🥵, the banter is flirty as hell, the characters are lovable and I for one cannot WAIT until Book 2 comes out.

... 😍😍😍. When I started this book I didn't know what to expect... But when I started I was catapulted into a fantasy world that I didn't want to leave... It bewitched me. I loved the dark setting and there are episodes that make you want to lock yourself in your room and not have anyone around you. I loved Lila's growth journey and her relationship with Ambrose... But I ask for a friend, can you have Ambrose in real life...? How can you not love someone like him who would do anything for his woman and when I say everything I mean everything. The relationship that is established between them is something that makes you sigh like for example the slow burn and the fact that together they are a burning fire. This novel leaves you with a killer cliffhanger but it makes me want even more to have the second book and absolutely continue the story... I highly recommend it because you will have a romantic story that is at times scary but also sexy.... Are you still there ? Go buy it and read it. You absolutely won't regret it. Rating 5 ⭐

J.M. Failde’s “The Crow Lord” was absolutely brilliant, and it was also one of the best vampire romance books I’ve read in ages! The world building was super intriguing, and I loved that the vampire courts were based on what kind of venom the vampire had. Lila, the heroine, was a very likable character; even though she was a damsel in distress at the start of the book I really feel like she could hold her own by the end. I also really liked her love interest, Lord Ambrose Draven, who was also the head of the Crow Court. Their chemistry was amazing, and I was rooting for them to find happiness! The ending was a plot twist I definitely wasn’t expecting, and I had to refrain from throwing my kindle at the wall in frustration. To sum it up, I really loved this book, and I will be impatiently waiting for the second one!

I was so conflicted about this story, and I still don't know what the point is. If you read it for the romance only, it's fun. Ambrose is fun. Lila, well, not so much. She is a little boring for my taste, and considering she is supposed to have a glow up (hahh!) this books gives us very little of that.

If I wanted to summarize this book badly, this is it: illiterate human girl in her twenties being abducted from her abusers by the local power house who makes a bargain with her, has a tendency to call her darling, has his own shady dealings and threatening to sell her to the highes bidder while desperately falling in love.

Where did I read that?! Oh wait...!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5
Spice meter: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 (it's not that bad but he is flirty and kinky as hell)
Chemistry: 🔥🔥🔥

The kind of book you read in one sitting. It’s vampires, it’s spicy but my god the FMC gave me the ick so bad. One second she was a mild mouse (her nickname not mine) and next she’s being bold and brash? it felt like a serious identity crisis.

They were love bombing after two seconds of meeting each other (not literally but come ON give me some kind of slow burn).

And some of the spicy lingo majorly made me cringe.
