FLASH GORDON MEETS THE DIRTY DOZENA ragtag group of aliens must clear their name or face a lifetime of captivity in this pulpy throwback from bestselling author Daniel Young that delivers the thrills!
--
It's a ruthless universe out there, with humanity reigning supreme, treating alien lives as mere collateral in their unending quest for dominion. Yet, amidst this injustice, a band of alien warriors rise against the odds. They're not just soldiers; they're Thunderstrike.
Once enslaved, these alien fighters have earned their freedom by shedding blood for Earth, serving in a military that values them less than the humans they protect. Their grit and valor have carved out a reputation that precedes them across the galaxy. But now, they find themselves wrongfully accused, their honor at stake.
In the fallout of a botched mission, they stand accused of a crime they did not commit. Their names are tarnished, and they're being used as scapegoats for a burgeoning threat that promises doom for humanity.
But Thunderstrike is not just a name, it's a testament to their resilience. Now on the run, these warriors must do what no one else dares. They must navigate a universe that seeks their downfall, to bring the real culprits to justice and restore their tarnished honor.
If you like aliens of all shapes and sizes, playful banter and dark humor, plus endless space battles, you'll love the THUNDERSTRIKE series!

This series is an homage to thrilling pulp sci-fi of yesteryear. If you're interested in hard science fiction look elsewhere. But if you're looking for action-packed adventures on strange worlds with even stranger aliens, this series is for you.
Curiously enough Thunderstrike does not refer to some spacecraft or a specific fight on or off a planet. No, this Thunderstrike refers to a group of people, the crew of the Upheaval belonging to Wolf. Wolf is an alien. In fact, his entire crew are alien. Once part of the human Military as enforced conscripts, they are now free and working for themselves, having become rather famous and called the Thunderstrike. Strangely enough this time humans are the baddies, enslaving all aliens the come across. So, why would the human Military then make an agreement with the Thunderstrike to convey a human princess off planet to some secure place of safety? And when the mission hardly takes off what with this princess getting killed, why would they then accuse the Thunderstrike of her assassination? That is how and where things really starts to take off helter skelter in a free for all war between the Thunderstrike and the human Military. And a very superior alien force manifesting themselves suddenly in the human galaxy as well. The action never stops and the surprises keeps on piling up at a never-ending rush. My only regret is now having to wait till mid August to see what else transpires in this hectic space adventure. Enjoy.
These two authors always deliver the best in sci-fi extra terrestrial adventures and they do not deceive in this adventure either.
A crew composed of army veterans from different species across the entire known Universe, have formed a team that navigates space in the Upheaval, a star vessel and pick up assignments in order to survive and make a profit in a world ruled by humans where aliens are either in the military of used as slave labour. One mission consists of taking aboard a very important dignitary from a distant planet and delivering her to a specified destination. While doing so and under their protection, the dignitary is murdered and the crew is accused and arrested by the humans as responsible for the murder even if they had nothing to do with it. One solution is left. They must travel the galaxy in order to clear their name. One problem, though. There is a war raging.
Filled with action, bigotry, unknowns and adventures, this is a book that is a good read and I rate it 5 Stars as the end is worth waiting for.
The Thunderstrikes were a crew of aliens freed from servitude by the humans. In the Earth Galaxy the humans called the shots, enslaving alien races to serve them, labor for them, fight for them and suffer any indignities because they weren't human. Leif and his alien crew were freed for their outstanding service in the Military. Everyone in the galaxy knew the Thunderstrikes or, at least, heard of them. This mission was unlike any they had faced before, and they'd be lucky to survive it!
This time, the humans and Earth were the bad guys and the creepy aliens are cheered! But there's a new player on the field and they're giving the Earth Military a pounding. The characters are tremendous! Funny, loving, odd looking, yes! But great characters none the less. The anti-human storyline is fresh and hugely enjoyable. The authors are great storytellers. This immensely enjoyable book is a great read and is just the beginning of a great series!
I like to read many genres, especially hard science fiction. However, there are times when I read for complete escape and entertainment. That’s when I turn to the team of Joshua James and Daniel Young for a large dose of good old fashion, pulp sci-fi! Mr. Young has a real talent for dialing back the physics and driving full bore into a riotous space romp, including a full plate of humans, aliens, FTL travel, wormholes, overwhelming fights between the good guys and the baddies, lots of lasers, emp weapons, etc., and side orders of introspection and humor. The stories are fast paced and keep me engrossed, not wanting to put them down. I received a free copy from the authors – this review is my honest opinion – and I purchased a copy to support these outstanding authors. I am eager to read the next book in this series.
I couldn’t put down this space adventure. A group of aliens have become a crew; family almost, and earned their freedom from the humans in the Earth Galaxy. They are called Thunderstrike. They are framed, and will lose their freedom … but then the Alvai arrive. No one knows who they are, or what they want. Their military capabilities are almost magical. Thunderstrike evades their enemies - barely, but when it looks like they may escape …. What a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to read book 2. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.
Another fun filled adventure begins where our band of plucky aliens are on the run from everyone and must survive to clear their name. Then they figure out other things are in play and off they go again. Lots of twits and surprises kept me reading to the end. And there it had one more surprise. It was a riot with entertaining crew, crazy battles and lots of running. Entertaining and fast paced. A great setup to a universe full of human and aliens.
It’s not often that I kick myself for wasting time on a lost cause- I know this was a “pulp” space opera - the physics make as much sense as the 2023 American Congress- the whole Human Galaxy controlled by Humans who are slavers is distressing and disgusting. The only character who was interesting was the gelatinous blob. I have zero interest in finding out what happens to Wolf and his crew.
I read the description and the preview, then DL the book and it never goes anywhere. Lots of battles, with numerous spaceships, lots of collateral death and destruction, and never any hint of a storyline or plot. Minimal character development, not plot development, a group of protagonists who are always besieged and yet always survive - it just doesn’t make sense. And it’s not entertaining.
This book has it all from good guys to many bad aliens. To begin with the whole Thunderstrike crew is mostly all aliens , some brothers. The book was a nice fantasy that you could just pretend and get lost in the story . The book had a great storyline that was smooth and just flows well. Off to the next book.
THUNDERSTRIKE is sheer shoot-‘em-up adventure entertainment. Think fun sci-fi campfire tale with no consideration of real science. I particularly enjoyed the varied, fully realized characters. I hated that the book ended with a cliffhanger.
What a good book! I don't really want to tell you anything about the plot other than what you can read on the blurbs about it. Great characters and for once the Aliens are more important than the humans!
I really enjoyed the1st book in the series. It kept me interested the whole way. The different aliens were a great idea. It wasn't all about humans. I look forward to reading the next book.
Not working for me. Just passed the one third point and have decided to put it into my DNF pile. The "Thunderstrike" crew have little personality. Nothing but wanting to kill anyone in their way. Not much for me to cheer for.
This was an absolute masterpiece! The narrative was rich and layered, with themes that really made me think. The characters were complex and relatable, and I was fully invested in their outcomes. It’s one of those stories that stays with you long after you’re done. Just brilliant!
From the beginning to the finish, Sergeant Wolf was a force of nature! While a conscript in the military he always to care of his crew NO MATTER WHAT! Daniel Young keeps folks entertaining people with his with and the creativity of his prose. Great job thank you.
The discrimination shown by the humans to this crew was over the top. The military held a hard line. A Government cover up at the beginning was very foggy. The invasion by Alvai is still unexplained and looks to be unstoppable. Great entertainment, thank you!
Another fascinating story that will keep you intrigued. A group of aliens that finally found a way to be part of the world. Action, danger and more to please everyone.
