Christmas Falls #8

Ready, Set, Glow!

Rate this book
There is nothing more annoying than Christmas... I see the irony of being the owner of a Christmas tree farm and hating the very holiday that keeps my family business alive, but Christmas Falls takes this season way too seriously with their festive business names to the sheer merriment that envelops the entire town. I'm no grinch, but I can relate to one being surrounded by all this jubilance. It doesn't help when a new part-timer joins the tree farm and is the very embodiment of joy, starting from his name—Felix Joy. He's ten years younger than me, and I feel the age difference every second I interact with him. His enthusiasm exhausts me, yet I can't stay away, even if it means I have to deal with the ridiculous nickname he forces onto me. He's melting the fatigue of Christmas, but I'll never admit it. I'm ready for all the blinding lights to come down, for him to leave, and to finally get some peace and quiet. Christmas Falls is a multi-author M/M romance series set in a small town that thrives on enough holiday charm to rival any Hallmark movie.

- boss x employee
- size difference
- opposites attract

Ready, Set, Glow is yet another wonderful addition to the Christmas Falls series and follows Bruce, the owner of the local Christmas tree farm, and Felix, his newest seasonal worker.

Bruce is bit grinchy, but mostly because he's an introvert forced to be an extrovert given his position as owner of the farm, and is very particular about how things should be. In steps Felix, his newest seasonal employee, who is fun and sweet and just what Bruce needs. Felix helps Bruce step out of his comfort zone in more ways than one, and their story is super sweet with a little dose of steam!

This was such a sweet story that I enjoyed so much! Grumpy/sunshine is one of my favourite tropes and Rye Cox did a great job with this book.
Bruce worked at his family's tree farm and he hated Christmas, which is funny as he lives in Christmas Falls, a town known for making a huge deal of the holidays. Felix had left his hometown to start a new life on his own away from the town where his parents made sure he was known as the miracle baby. He was born when his parents had lost hope of having a baby and that sort of shaped his life. Felix starts working at the tree farm and feels instantly attracted to Bruce, who tries to his own attraction without success.
I absolutely loved these two, they were very different but complemented each other so well. Bruce hated Felix's Christmas love but couldn't stay away. I had so much fun when he started feeling possessive over his worker while being reluctant to admit he felt something for Felix.
I enjoyed this book so much, it was a short story full of love and swoony moments between the MCs. Bruce and Felix made the perfect couple, despite their age gap they were each other's half soul. Bruce was understanding and accepting of all Felix's quirks, including Patchy and that was very touching. Felix gave Bruce what the older man needed: happiness and a purpose in life outside his work.
Overall, this was a wonderful novel where I got to see the characters from other books in the series, which was great. It left me with a warm heart and a big smile on my face. It was a beautiful, sweet and romantic love story, with all the Christmass fuss that a town like that gets. This is a perfect read for this season, and I truly recommend it.

A feel-good MM small town, holidays romance with cute grump / sunshine & a 10yr age gap. This was an adorable story which I devoured within 4hrs! I loved Bruce & Felix, all the side characters are good too. I'm a lil late getting to my #ARC but happy to have finally read it 😍. I liked to see Jem-Murphy cameo as I've read Silent Knight!

Bruce is a workaholic at his family's tree farm. He's a grump as he doesn't like noisy, but his silent kindness & papa bear-ness is endearing. I liked his fam!
Felix moved to Christmas falls for a new start & maybe a HEA with a bf, got seasonal work at B's farm. Felix's peppy, bright, angelic, romantic, & teaches B tiktok words 😂.

B wasn't looking for more due to his exs, but what started with Fel as a hook-up led to so much more. I'm happy how F didn't give up on B! Glad they put each other's insecurities to rest. The book really is overall so sweet, hence I easily read it quickly. Their relationship grows fast-paced & lovely, I wanted to see some extra scenes we're told...BUT we get so many ADORABLE scenes that I'm not mad! The teddy bits 😍. Sweet epilogue! RTC.

3.5 stars - This Christmas Falls world is just what I needed this holiday season! Bruce and Felix’s story was sweet and easy to read.

Bruce Brooks owns the tree farm in Christmas Falls but he’s a bit of a grump when it comes to the holidays. He doesn’t like change, loves to be in control, buries himself in work and doesn’t really understand the magic of the holiday season. But when an angel finds his way onto the farm, everything starts to change for him.

Felix Joy is sweet, funny and looking for a fresh start in Christmas Falls, away from the angel baby persona he has in his hometown. He loves the holidays and has a degree in horticulture, so finding seasonal work at Bruce’s tree farm feels like the perfect fit. But he doesn’t expect to find himself wrapped up in his boss and doing whatever he can to rile him up in little ways along the way.

These two are opposites in so many ways, but they fit together so well. Felix makes Bruce take down his carefully built walls and open up to the possibility of more than just casual relationships. Bruce sees Felix as a man who can make his own decisions, something he desperately needed. Their relationship was sweet but felt a little rushed - I would have loved to see them doing more around Christmas Falls and interacting with more of the other characters we met along the way. They were really cute together, but I wanted more!

Sad this series is almost over, but I’m excited for one more Christmas Falls story!

You have to love an opposites attract romance

A new author to ne and I have to say, this book was ab absolute delight.

I do love me a grumpy one falls for a sunshine-y one and this opposites attract romance was just that.

The Christmas Falls setting has been a wonderful place to while away a few hours and each individual story has brought its own charm to it

This one is set on the tree farm owned by Bruce and his family and when the appropriately named Felix Joy turns up as a seasonal worker, that's exactly what he brings along.

Bruce's life's centred around his family and the farm, he wouldn't say it was dull, but he's also aware he's got a bit of a reputation for being a grump.

So, he's completely unprepared for the feelings Felix invokes after their paths collide and the younger man literally helps him back onto his feet.

This was such a lovely, no angst, sweet and steamy read, the family are wonderful and the relationship itself gently develops between them as tgey actually have conversations about what's going on.

I'm interested to read more from Rye.

This story was another beautiful addition to this Christmas Falls series and I loved it so much. I have been looking forward to reading Bruce & Felix's story since I first met them in the first book and I enjoyed their book so much.

Bruce is the grumpy bear who owns a Christmas tree farm and even though he comes out as grumpy he is very kind. Felix has just moved to town from his small winter town because he was always been treated as some fragile baby even though he is an adult now.
Bruce & Felix's relationship was amazing and so swoony at times, I enjoyed their chemistry a lot. Even though Bruce had been hurt in his past relationships, he felt very different with Felix and I loved how he at least tried to give it a try with him.
Bruce was such a sweetheart, I loved how much he cared for Felix and understood him and also accepted Patchy, that was so cute. Felix was a total sunshine and I liked how he was accepted in Bruce's family, that was a sweet moment.

Overall, I enjoyed this book very much and recommend you to check it out, also the whole series is so amazing, so I recommend you check out all the other books as well.

This was another incredible Christmas Falls story. I'm truly amazed at how seamlessly each author flows between each of their books. Sometimes, it feels the entire series was written by 1 person; it's that cohesive. Rye's story about a grumpy bear and a beautiful angel was perfect. I couldn't put my Kindle down. I love Bruce's family as well as seeing bits & pieces from other stories in the series as well. I'm hoping Rye will eventually expand on some of the side characters and give Kaysen and Levi their own stories as well. This book is a definite must-read!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.

This was another nice addition to this Christmas Falls series. Bruce is Griffin best friend from book 1 and he’s an adorable grumpy teddy bear.. and just like a teddy bear, he’s a softy and kind. Felix is a twink that looks like a Botticelli angel but is so sassy and strong. Bruce and Felix are such opposites and yet they fit perfectly together.
I liked that it was very low on angst and that both are mature enough to talk with each other instead of pining for weeks. There was so much chemistry with these two characters. I loved Bruce being so open about his feelings.

Sweet story.

I loved this little Christmas obsessed town. So many side characters grabbed my attention. Griff and Logan, Levi, Ezra, Emerson, Jem, and Kassin. This was the first book in this series that I read so I'll have to go back and read them all.

Ready, Set, Glow! by Rye Cox is the 8th book in the Christmas Falls series by various authors. Bruce Brooks is the owner and manager of Milton Falls Christmas Tree Farm in Christmas Falls. He is also somewhat of a grinch when it comes to all the festivities the town creates from before Thanksgiving through Christmas. He hates the lights, sounds, and the multitude of Christmas joy happening during that time but it is great for his business so he tries to be as professional as he can be, even though he would much rather be left alone. He works with his parents and brothers and does love being with them. Then they hire Felix Joy as seasonal help and he is immediately attracted to the curly blond haired man who looks like an angel. Felix also feels the attraction and flirts with him whenever possible. However Bruce doesn’t want to have a relationship with him, especially because he is his boss. But as time goes on Bruce can’t help himself and as they work closely and make deliveries he finally gives in and they have a hot love scene. Even though Bruce says they are just having a fling, the more they are together, the more they realize that their feelings and love scenes are just a few times but can lead to much more for both of them. As the end of the season approaches something will have to be done because Felix will be moving on. And that is when Bruce knows he wants to be with him and that he loves him, feelings that Felix reciprocates, which leads to their HEA. I really enjoyed this story. Felix was such a grump at the beginning but Felix brings out the Christmas spirit in him. Felix is a lovely character, both in looks and in his disposition, and makes friends everywhere he goes. He did have an interesting childhood with older parents that he is trying to get away from, but it doesn’t stop him from doing what he wants to do. Bruce’s family are important to him and to the story and give him good advice, as well as act snarky like brothers do. His friends are there for him too. I also like how characters from previous books in the series make appearances and help both characters get their happy ending. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories with grumpy/sunshine characters that bring out the best in each other and have some fun times on their way to falling in love.

Here is the eighth novel in the new multi-author series (Christmas Falls): this is Rye Cox's "Ready Set Glow."
["There is nothing more annoying than Christmas...

I see the irony of being the owner of a Christmas tree farm and hating the very holiday that keeps my family business alive, but Christmas Falls takes this season way too seriously with their festive business names to the sheer merriment that envelops the entire town.

Just when I thought I was about to catch up on some of my other books/authors/TBRs, another Christmas Falls book comes out (and adding another author-to-binge to my list).

This book was so good!!! Bruce is just a fucking teddy bear. He's all tough and growly and grumpy on the outside, but on the inside he's protective and caring as fuck. He just wants people to be safe and happy. He's comfortable with life (minus owning a Christmas tree farm and hating Christmas)..until he meets Felix. Felix just wanted to be seen as an adult, even if he's an angel personified. He's sweet and kind and sparkly and filled with job (and a little sass--a lot of sass). They were perfect for each other.

This is the 8th book in the Christmas Falls series, and I have to acknowledge that yes, I did skip a couple of the books. After the lackluster feelings I had for the last one I read, I read over the synopses of the remaining books carefully. I realized that books 6 and 7 really weren't appealing to me, and decided to skip to the last two, which had synopses - and familiar characters - that seemed more enjoyable to me. And quite frankly, life is too damn short to read books that I know I don't, or won't, enjoy.

All of that being said, I really enjoyed this book! I love the grumpy-sunshine trope in M/M romance (let's be real, in most romance), and I love how neither Bruce nor Felix tried to change the other. Instead, they were attracted to each other because they were grumpy and sunshine, respectively.

But most importantly, I loved how they communicated with each other. They were open, honest, and vulnerable. They expressed their thoughts, feelings, and insecurities. They had frank discussions with each other, and they really balanced each other out in a very complimentary way.

It's still rather wild to me that Christmas Falls is so welcoming of newcomers - this is not at all my experience with small towns. But, well, it's a town built around the magic of the holiday season, and I guess that extends to its residents, as well.

This book brought me back into the series after being so wary with the last couple of books I read. And as we near the end of the holiday season - thankfully - I hope the final installment of the series is just as charming as this one was.

Oh I definitely enjoyed this newest addition to the Christmas Falls series.

Here we have grumpy/sunshine with an age gap trope. Both I really love to read about. So that was already a great plus on my side ^^
Beside that we have boss/employee and size difference. I have to say boss/employee can go either way for me so I was really happy that it worked well in this case. Felix is just so...bubbly, sassy, cheery and self-assured that I never had the impression Bruce would take advantage of him.

We already met Bruce, the Christmas tree farm owner, here and there in the other books so I was happy to see this one was about him. I always felt when reading about him that I really wanted to know his story. And now I finally do.

I found it funny that the person who sells all the Christmas trees is like a grumpy Grinch and didn't like that time of the year.
But we all know when he meets the right man he'll start to enjoy it and get into the spirit too.
And that's exactly what happened.

Bruce and Felix are such opposites and yet they fit perfectly together.
I liked that it was very low on angst and that both are mature enough to talk with each other instead of pining for weeks.

Bruce's family was a huge plus and made me chuckle more than once.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. The MCs were very likeable and I was fast rooting for them.
Delightful second characters as well and the typical cozy small town vibe we know from this series.
A definitely win in my books.

Finally back in Christmas Falls!

I mean, technically we never left, but you couldn’t tell, so the sentiment still stands.

Aside from the mechanics being rough, and a few wonky things here and there, I loved everything about this book. It had all of the good-good from the world, the characters were fantastic, the story was perfect and fluffy and adorable, and the nod to Wintertown made me smile.

Sometimes this author is a miss for me, I won’t lie, but I enjoy their vibe, so I try every book on for size. With that being said, I do want to point out that the one major thing I had with this book that really just did not do it for me was having Bruce drive intoxicated. Life happens, but that’s never going to be okay. Ever. And we for sure shouldn’t put it in a book like it’s a good thing to add to the spice/emotion of the scene.

And no, it’s not something everyone does, because I’ve never driven a vehicle of any kind if I’ve had a drink. You won’t ever catch me doing it, either. Unprotected schmex? Cool. That only affects you and the person you’re with, and that’s YOUR choice. Drunk driving? That’s a whole new problem that could hurt way more than just you.

So yeah, not cool. Don’t do that. It’s gross.

4/5. I’m glad Christmas Falls and the concept of being a part of an interconnected standalone universe came back into play. I was hype for Bruce and Felix’s story, and I’m happy that I (for the most part) loved it.

The grumpy/sunshine Christmas book I needed (an audio review)

I try to maintain I’m not a huge Hallmark fan. I mean, I don’t watch the Christmas movies year-round (yes, my friend Rae, I see you). I’ve caught the very few with gay couples or even gay characters. Yay for representation, even if it’s slow in coming. I’m even friends with a guy who does see decoration for the movies.

So I know Hallmark.

Ready, Set, Glow! is very much Hallmark – and I loved it. (Okay, Hallmark with hot sex.)

Some city boy moves to a small town, named Christmas Falls no less, and falls in love with his grumpy boss who – wait for it – runs a Christmas Tree farm.

OMG, I loved it.

I adored Felix. Bubbly, charismatic, charming, and just loves everyone. He takes the Christmas Tree farm by storm with ideas and pizzazz. And a great work ethic.

Bruce is just adorable too. He hasn’t met the right man and when Felix blows into his life like a winter storm, he just doesn’t know what to do. In the end, though, he embraces the chance for his own happily ever after.

So yes, I love this book and isn’t Christmas the best time for it????

I also have to say I adore Zachary Zaba who just nailed this performance.

There are more Christmas Falls books on audio and I intend to grab them all!

A presto ❤️

“There was nothing more magical than this.”

Bruce, is a grumpy Christmas tree farm owner, who loves his family, but not Christmas. Until he literally falls for Felix, a cherubic blonde with big blue eyes and Bruce’s newest employee. Bruce and Felix were a great pairing, their differences complemented the other so well. Bruce is quiet, kind of shy and standoffish, whereas Felix is a spunky, snarky and bubbly little twink. Despite the 10 year age gap, they fit together, so well, I love the parts where Bruce struggled with the modern vocabulary. It was too funny, or when Felix describes Bruce as a grumpy, Snow White.

Felix and Patchy were just too precious. I especially like the after a spicy scene, he consoles the bear about the sounds he heard.

Christmas Falls is a town straight out of a Hallmark movie complete with cute business names like Season’s Readings , Dancing Sugar Plums, and Jolly Java.

The spicy scenes were abundant, but didn’t overpower the plot or character development, Rye even included a cuddle scene that stayed a cuddle. I want the spicy, but having those sweet moments warms my cold dead heart 🤣

This is book 8 in the multi-author Christmas Falls series. Each book can be enjoyed as a stand alone though they do have some overlapping arcs. This is the story of Bruce Brooks and Felix Joy. Bruce and his family all work at the Milton Falls Christmas Tree Farm. Bruce is the current owner and manager of their family farm; it is a true family business. Bruce doesn't dislike Christmas, not at all. He just finds noise to be tiring and noisy children exhausting. And if there is a way to avoid working with customers, he was all over it. Peopling was exhausting as well. No wonder he is sometimes described as serious or a grump.
Felix has just moved to town and is looking for a new start. He happily starts working at the Christmas Tree Farm. Like his last name, Felix is a joy to be around. He is upbeat and finds pleasure in most situations. Felix and Bruce seem like opposite ends of the spectrum. But isn't it always opposites that attract. This is their story. It is very well written and easy to read. I very much enjoyed it. it is sure to put you into a holiday mood. A sweet and easy read.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received a free copy. This review is submitted voluntarily.

Bruce owns the town tree farm but does not share the town’s Christmas spirit. Basically, he’s a grump. They’ve hired a part-time staffer, Felix Joy, to help with the workload. True to his name, he’s a ray of sunshine and has an angelic appearance. Bruce is quickly smitten but tries to stay away from Felix because of the age difference (Bruce is about 10 years older) and the fact that he’s Felix’s boss. Luckily, Bruce’s youngest brother becomes fast friends with Felix and sort of helps him woo Bruce. Eventually Bruce comes around and they work their way to a happy ending.

Felix is an absolute sweetie and Bruce is a softie, notwithstanding his grumpy exterior. I love these seasonal books because they are always cheery, easy reads and this one is no exception. The plot is straightforward and develops in a fun way. Character development is great, both the main ones and the secondary ones. This series is multi-author and I’m really happy to see how they all fit together. I’ve read most of it and loved every one. This one is the latest wonderful. I’m pleased to recommend this one.

I really loved this book! Bruce and Felix really stole my heart. The grumpy-sunshine trope is one of my favourites, but this one, with a Christmas glow, was perfect.
Here we meet Bruce and Felix. The first one is the owner of a farm that sells Christmas trees, and the second is his new employee. The two men couldn’t be more different, but since the first day they meet, they cannot stop thinking about each other.
Felix is younger and full of enthusiasm, Bruce is an older grumpy bear, at least until he meets his angel, who manages to change everything.
I loved the two men, the way they interact with each other, and all the positivity Felix brings into Bruce’s life, as well as I adored Bruce’s love for Felix and for his own family too.
And about the family, it was a really funny one! “Kaykay” is one of my favourites, always playing funny jokes and tricks that make his older brother shiver, and their father? I laughed a lot about the graffitti story.
It’s a book that spreads love in every direction, according to the Christmas spirit.
After all, what can we expect when the main character’s name is Felix Joy? Just love and happiness.
Absolutely recommended!

READY, SET, GLOW is the eighth book in the Christmas Falls series. Christmas Falls is a multi-author series. Each book is a standalone and can be read in any order without issue.

Bruce hates Christmas which is unfortunate since he is the owner of the Christmas tree farm. Bruce has basically given up on love and relationships. They are for everyone else but him. But when Bruce sees Felix Joy for the first time he can't remember ever seeing someone so beautiful.

Felix came to Christmas Falls to start over his life in his hometown had become overwhelming but he seems to love being in Christmas Falls. Bruce is thrown by Felix's looks but knows nothing can happen since he is technically his employee but that doesn't stop Bruce from noticing all the things about the man. Felix would love to climb his boss like a tree but he doesn't want to risk his job except he can't stop thinking about the sexy tree farmer.

There was so much chemistry with these two characters. I loved Bruce being so open about his feelngs. Felix and Bruce were the missing puzzle pieces you truly need this holiday season.

I was given a free copy of this book.
