Track Domination #5

Making A Mark

Rate this book
Opening eyes and hearts, one mark at a time.

The only thing Tate Blauser’s ever wanted to do was race. Motor oil runs through his veins. His wild spirit has kept him from becoming a world class driver. He needs a miracle or he’ll lose his ride with Big R.

Enter Kennedy Crowse. He’s no pushover. The man handles tough drivers and tough submissives with ease. He sees the submissive side of Tate. With a little time, patience and care, the kid could be unstoppable. But there’s one hitch—the rules at Big R forbid staff from dating.

Can these two find a balance between work and play or will bending the rules be the biggest mark on their lives?

An improvement over the last few books in the series, but still not jump-up-and-down yummy. A nice palate cleanser after a tear jerker would be a good way to describe this one.

My favorite of all the books in the track domination series.

I really liked the relationship between Tate and Kennedy and Kennedy's first meeting with Floyd had me in stitches.

As always, things moved fast with the characters. As good an author as Slayer is, I'd love to see her slow down a little and give us a better insight into the thoughts and feelings of the characters and really let their relationship unfold.

There were some spelling errors that threw me for a loop, especially in one scene. Kennedy is intending to call Tate a hot shot and instead calls him a hot shoe. The scence which was meant to be funny and somewhat poignant was a bit tarnished by this mistake.

There are a few things I've found a little odd throughout this series. The first is the number of gay men in truck racing. This sport has typically been a middle America sport that showcases the talents of good old boys living in the Bible belt. To have so many openly gay men in the sport is a bit hard to swallow but easy enough to look past in the realm of fiction. Still, with American football being such a male dominated sport and so up in arms about its first openly gay player, truck racing being overrun with gorgeous gay men might be a challenge for some readers to accept.

It's also seemed strange to me that so many gay men working together are finding their dom/sub partner either because he's been there all along or he's come back to them. Seems strange they should all find each other at work and even stranger all of these guys in this setting are into dom/sub relationships.

Finally, all of the brothers in one family being gay was a bit off to me. I'm sure it happens, and this isn't the first story I've seen this portrayed in, but it seems difficult to believe.
