Elle Andrews is my best friend. The one I let slip away, and now, she’s my four year old daughter’s new nanny. I may have had ulterior motives when I convinced her to take the job, but she needed work, and I needed a replacement. The plan was easy. Get her into my space, and prove to her that despite the past, I’ve always been hers. But when disturbing news about her parents surfaces, and four years of buried tension comes out, the plan takes an unexpected turn. There are three sides to every story. Yours. Theirs. And the truth.
Book 2 of the Timber Creek Series. Series will contain interconnected standalones.
Wow. There is always something going on in Timber Creek and I am here for it!! I loved this story! Friends to lovers. Mystery. The spice! CLIFFHANGER!!! It’s great! I’m already impatiently waiting for book 3!!! Y’all better watch out, S. J. Chaynie is going places.
Strong willed FMC Hot single dad MMC Friends to lovers Second chance Mystery Spice AND a twist you don’t expect This book has it all!! Can I please get me an Easton Roy!
I'm known for reading dark romance. So finding the Timber Creek Series has been a completely different experience. And I'm hear for all of it. She gets all the stars. Absolutely slammed this one out of the park. Spice is subjective (as is star rating), I'm going to go with 4 chili peppers. I dubbed Whispers "Classy Spice" and that fits here. It's not overly spice. It we are speaking amount, it's only a few. But it's the emotions involved that elevate it.
As for the story, I LOVE Elle and Easton. We met these two as background characters in the first book. With only small hints that something was going on, but not full picture type story. Easton and Elle have been friends for years. Right before he left for the police academy they shared a kiss at a party. While he away, the texted and grew closer. Both expecting things to flourish when he returned. However, that was simply not what happened. Elle was left heartbroken, and Easton found himself with a daughter. But there is more to this story that we won't learn until much later. Confessions was appropriately named because closer to the end, there are a lot of them.
Fast forward to 4 years later, Easton is a single father raising an adorable 4 year old. And trust me when I tell you, you will fall in love with her instantly. His nanny informs him that she is going to have to leave due to family things and Easton will need to find someone else to take care of June.
Elle works in a hair salon. The same one her mother did. After a little payback is served, Elle ends up losing her job. It's emotional from the start. Elle lost her parents at an early age so you feel the loss of the connection she had with her mother through the salon.
More things happen, one very emotional paint room scene with Easton. And it is soooo sweet.
Easton is a cop in this small town. He finds out that the FBI is going to be coming to town after some things were mentioned regarding the death of Elle's parents. There is concern that Elle may be in danger and he does not like that thought. He has Elle meet for breakfast and tells her that he wants her to be his nanny. She starts to resist, until a woman walks up to their table at a restaurant and seems all too happy to take on the role. Jealousy won't let Elle allow the girl to take the position.
There is a lot of things that will transpire after Elle agrees, but it's hard to say too much more without spoiling. The author is very good about not giving too much information all at once and keeping you invested in this story. I felt so many emotions reading it. Towards the end, like I mentioned before, a LOT of information comes out. But I could not get enough of their story. I flew through this back so fast I didn't even realize it.
The background characters are also relevant to the story, as some are getting their own. We still see Camille and Jace from book 1. Camille is still best friends with Elle. And we get my girl Tilly!! I love her. She is fantastic. AND GIVEN HOW THIS BOOK ENDED, I'm betting Tilly is next, along with Grey. And I'm so ready for that story!
She was my best friend and she was something so more and it took me getting ready to go off and complete my training to realise this, I just hope she feels the same way. Turns out she does but our time is cut short as she pulled back to her aunt and uncles, but she is going to come back and I can’t wait to spend what time I have with her.
Thing is I learn that she didn’t come back and worst thing I made a big mistake, well part of that was a bad decision but I now have a lovely daughter out of that mistake. I hurt her in the worst way possible and it was with her cousin to.
Elle is Elle and just gets on with her life, but the things don’t go right for her and loses her job now what is she supposed to do. It is four years on now and Elle’s feelings haven’t changed for Easton, but what can she do she needed to get on with her life and his little girl is her family and the moment she saw her she loved her.
Easton wants Elle, he has been in love with her for the past four years and he is willing to do whatever he has to get her back because at the end of the day she is his. She belongs to him just as much as his little girl does.
Elle ends up being the nanny, and she isnt sure how this going to work with Easton being there, but her façade is this is an employee / employer relationship and lets be honest that little girl is everything to her. Her mother just upped and left after she was born.
Okay so lets get real now this book is amazing and I absolutely loved it. This two are just meant to be together and everyone around them can see that, but the thing is Elle was hurt, her heart was broken and can she really get over this heartache and give Easton a chance. SJ Chaynie develops these characters so beautifully and I love how you know and can feel their connection but to get back to where they should be is not instant but gradual and when they do get to that spot they are just WoW. I love how she had developed a story not only with our two main characters, but she also has pulled in the other characters which gives a backdrop for further stories in this series.
This is a book you won’t want to put down and will pull you in to the lives of those in Timber Creek. If you want second chance, friends to lovers, spice, mystery and a bit of something else of and a hot single dad and then jump in.
Book Review Confession of Timber Creek by SJ Chaynie Release Date: 9.29.23
OVERALL RATING 5⭐️/5 3.5🌶️ /5 * SERIES: Timber Creek Series, Book 2 - This is book two of an interconnected standalone series. Confessions of Timber Creek is a small town, second chance, single dad romance! * POV: First Person Dual - In love with these characters! In love with their story! Their growth was amazing and each main character was so well developed - I adore their little group of friends as well! So good! * SPICE - Open Door, Explicit - Loved the balance of plot to spice in this! When done it was done so well!
THOUGHTS - I love romantic suspense and SJ Chaynie is one of my faves! She writes easy to read, fast paced, emotional stories with characters that are so lovable and plot twists that will have your jaw on the floor! I laughed, I cried, I felt all the feels and I am so invested and in love with this series!
Elle and Easton’s second chance was perfect - even though they both knew they should be endgame there was so much past history for them to overcome and hash out and Elle was definitely more guarded with her heart! It made for such amazing tension and banter and once they finally figured it out it was pure magic!
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
First off this is a new to me author and I can absolutely tell you I will be reading more of her books. I could not put this one down. It had me turning the pages like crazy I did not want to set this one down. There was so many twist that I didn’t see coming.
Elle and Easton were childhood friends but as they grew Elle felt something more for Easton. When things were headed towards something more than just friends the rug was pulled out from beneath Elle. Just like any other time in her life when things were going well something happened that turned her world upside down. Four years later and Easton was determined to make Elle his. When the stars started to line up for him, he jumped at the chance to try to make her his.
I loved Elle and Easton the chemistry between them was thick. To watch them was like spinning magnets on a table repelling when they don’t line up but when they connect OH BOY do these two connect. Let me just say charity auction. I enjoyed the side characters also and I like getting to know them a bit. I need to go back and read the first book and I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book.
Tropes: Small town Single dad/nanny Second chance love Friends > enemies > lovers Groveling Suspense Strong MFC
There’s so many things to love about this book. Seriously, from the single dad/nanny trope to the “it’s always been you” 🥹. Easton Roy is *chef’s kiss*!!
This is book 2 in the series and it follows ex best friends Easton Roy & Elle Andrews. They were best friends for years with mutual pining between them, one mistake on his part sent it all crashing down. 4 years later he’s a single dad to a little girl, and he’s in need of a new nanny. As fate would have it, Elle just got fired from her job.
He’s never stopped loving her, never stopped trying to show her how much he cares about her. And now that she’s in his house with his daughter, he finally has a chance to make her his!!!
It’s got a little bit of spice, little bit of suspense, ALOT of smooth & dirty talking. Lots of love and validation. The plot twist had me GASPING and the cliffhanger it leave you on for book 3?? Wow. I cannot wait for it to come out. I was sucked into this story and finished it in one night! 🖤
"Confessions of Timber Creek" is book 2 of the Timber Creek Series. This is an Interconnected Standalone Series, I do recommend reading book 1 because this one will contain spoilers. This one had me gasping out loud and then almost throwing the book because of that cliffhanger! This one will have you falling in love, guessing "who done it", gasping at the shocking plot twist, and then left speechless with the ending. I LOVED IT. I completely and utterly love a book that can cause me to feel all the feels. I hope your fingers are tip-tapping away for book 3!

Watching their story unfold into something so beautiful was quite the ride! There so so much suspense and the plot twist had me SHOOOOK! Also, can we talk about that cliffhanger?? I hate to rush an author but I need book 3 like NOW! 😂

Omg omg omg. Ok got that off my chest. I could not put this book down. I absolutely love Elle and Easton. I can tell you the twist I did not see coming and usually I can spot it a mile away, the story line just catches your attention and keeps it. The character development is so realistic and raw and honest. Your heart just breaks for the characters and rejoices with him. Such an amazingly talented author with such great story lines. I can not wait for the next book to come out. Ooo and the spicy scenes they are just perfection.

Chaynie I was given this book from the author for an honest review. EASTON!!! GAH!! I don’t know how many times I was messaging the author is regards to my boyfriend. I am not a person who highlights stuff but there were so many amazing lines from him to Elle…..I melted so many times. Like I love him so freaking much!! Ok so you get that I loved the book right??? Now this is the 2nd book in the series but trust me what I say you don’t need to read book 1 to get this book. I will say you totally need to read it because we see the Easton/Elle dance and well it made me totally love him before I read this book. Easton is one of the town police officers who has loved Elle his entire life. He can’t imagine not having her around and right when he gets the nerve to tell her…he makes an epic mistake and ruins it all. Elle has had a crap life. She finally gets things in order and opens up to Easton and then…..GROWL I loved Easton and Elle. The dance they do the whole book is amazing. They both want the other, but Elle is being stubborn annnd yes she has the right to be but…gesh Elle!!! Easton knows he messed up and will do anything to get his girl to admit she wants to be with him too. The banter and chemistry is so good. His zingers to get her attention made me laugh so many times. But guys…..omg the charity auction…..lets just say I saw Easton in a whole new light!! MMMMMMM Yes I liked it too. This book has me glued to it and I was not happy when I had to put it down. I read it so fast I feel like I need to reread it to enjoy it all over again!!!
