The One I Want

Rate this book
We thought we were forever, but fate had other plans... I never intended to fall in love. This girl had goals and guys were an unwelcome distraction. Until I met Garrick, my sophomore year of college, and he blasted through the walls I kept around my heart, tearing them down. He knew what he wanted, and he wanted me . Falling hard and fast, I experienced the rollercoaster highs and lows of first love. Until life threw us a curveball, and everything flipped overnight. Stuck in a limbo state, I was falling apart while trying to be strong for my boyfriend. Then he entered my life. The hot, slightly older guy who looked like a cross between a tatted biker and a billionaire businessman. Beck understood me, and our situation, in a way no one else could. As a friend, he held me together and helped to piece back the shredded fragments of my heart. I didn't mean to fall in love with him-it just happened. No one understands, least of all me. Now my heart is split in two, and I don't know what to do. Is my first love my one true love? Or do I belong with the man who brought me to life?

Stevie Colson has her life mapped out and no time for anything that doesn’t align with her goals. Falling for Garrick Allen wasn’t part of the plan, but inevitable just the same. When fate turns everything sideways, will Stevie adjust or hold fast?

Siobhan Davis has the unrivaled ability to break your heart and have you beg for more.

DNF @48% ...I barely made it this far, had to skip thru so much. I just wanted a love triangle but I can't sit through anymore of this. Too long with such unnecessary, catty drama and I'm half way thru the book and just now meeting the other love interest. At this point I just feel bad for Garrick. His infatuation has clearly been one sided

The One I Want is a captivating tale that weaves together the complexities of a love triangle, tragic circumstances, and the questioning of loyalty and fidelity. In a true Siobhan Davis fashion, this epic story is laden with heart-wrenching angst that had me gripped from beginning to end. There is a second epilogue that cannot be missed.

Loyalty and fidelity take center stage as central themes, forcing our heroine, Stevie, to grapple with her allegiance to Garrick and question her own moral compass. As her relationship with Beck evolves, the plot takes unexpected turns, leaving readers torn between rooting for Garrick or Beck. Stevie’s inner turmoil and conflicting desires were skillfully portrayed.

A tragic plot twist hit me hard; a close childhood friend had been in the same situation as Beck. I had to walk away for a bit. Pause and reflect. And then sob.

The One I Want delivers an angsty, spellbinding, and sweeping tale that leaves a lasting impression. Siobhan Davis excels at crafting stories that tug at the heartstrings, and this novel is no exception. In fact, it’s simply her best story to date.

An emotional masterpiece!

I’ve always been a sucker to Siobhan’s characters and love stories because they always put your heart through the wringer.

I absolutely adored Stevie. I loved watching her grow from teenager to adult. I felt her pain and shame and guilt. Her longing for Garrick and then for Beck. This is unlike any other love triangle I’ve ever read.

I cannot wait for this book to be released so you can all experience the wonder of Siobhan’s spicy scenes and character depths.

Thank you for the ARC.

2.5 stars (rounded up)

I really wanted to enjoy this book - the story had so much promise, but this book was just too long with little to no justification for it. While I understand that the author needed us to see the progression of Stevie and Garrick's relationship before we can appreciate the progression of Stevie and Beck's the book just feels too long. By the mid-way point I seriously considered DNFing the book. I even started and read five other books in the eight days it took me to read this one because I found myself avoiding it at time.

I'm glad I didn't though because the last 55ish% is when this book really hits its stride (it took me seven days to even get through the first 32% and I finished the book 45% in one sitting). That was when I fell in love with some characters (and out of love with others) - it's when the story started to take form and I got invested in the characters. And while, 55% of the way through is not normally too long to wait...it is when the book is over 700 pages long (758 per amazon). It means waiting over 300 pages to feel like the book is worth reading. It's just too much.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but really feel as though readers didn't need nearly as much buildup in the beginning. The book at most times felt like a marathon (and sometimes an ultra marathon at that) and like I'd read five different books. As I was finishing it, I would randomly remember plot points (because there were a TON) from 500-600 pages before that - and they always felt like a completely different book.

Overall, the story and the characters were interesting BUT it was a case of taking too long to tell too much.

I realize it takes a lot of talent, time and sacrifices to write a book so I apologize for the harsh rating, but I always feel honesty can provide the best feedback for an author. Love triangles are a favorite storyline for me so I was throughly invested in this story.

This wasn’t a terrible book, but there were some big issues with it:

-It was much too long. Word burnout. The first half of the book described every action in detail and the second half skipped months ahead at a time. Needed to be consistent there. At the very least, trim the fluff and make it a duet.

-Biggest issue was that one of the characters was re-written later in the book and vilified. That was unfortunate because it seemed like the author had a change of heart in the direction she was taking the character.

-Stevie was an unlikable character. Hypocritical. I struggled to want her with either Garrick OR Beck. The very issues she fought with Garrick on she seemed to be OK with Beck. I don’t understand how the author justified that. Had me scratching my head for character consistency. She was even written as arguing with several characters and ending relationships with them.

This book really left me confused more than anything. Lastly, and this may be nitpicking, but if you’re going to use the word Whiskey over and over in a book, please spell it correctly. It’s spelled with an “e” in Ireland and the United States. It was spelled “Whisky” through the story.

Siobhan Davis is the QUEEN of angst when it comes to romance books. I’m always excited to dive into her juicy tales that I know for a fact will rip out my heart before putting it back together again. This one was no different. While it was on the longer side (not my usual cup of tea) the journey through this book was so worth it. It was needed too, and I devoured every single word. I really don’t want to talk much about the plot because I believe a book like this should be one a reader lives through without any spoilers, but I will say this: this novel HURT. But it seeped straight into my soul, and I enjoyed every single second. I love a book that feels raw and realistic and can say that this one most certainly did. If you enjoy an emotional romance about tangled hearts, then this is an absolute must read! Personally, I recommend all her books BUT this is a new favorite!

2 stars is me being generous. When I dislike a book, I rarely write a bad review. But honestly, Stevie was so unlikable, I almost DNF. But after spending as much time reading this too long book, I needed go force myself to finish it. The reason I chose to read The One I Want was because it was compared to Say You Swear. But I don’t see the similarities. Not to mention the overuse of the phrase pregnant pause. Honestly, this felt like 3 books in one, because the author wanted to say it was a single book without a cliffhanger. I would not recommend.

No one breaks and heals the heart quite as exquisitely as Siobhan Davis! What a powerfully emotive and utterly mesmerizing tale of devastation and restoration. It’s a story as beautiful as it is brave, as tender as it is bold. The One I Want is simply stunning from start to finish. Emotionally immersive and deliciously dramatic, with angst so thick you could choke. Siobhan deftly unravels the human heart into all its raw and jagged and complicated pieces on the page. Prepare to feel this one in your every fiber! Truly, this Siobhan Davis at her finest!

Ultimately, it’s really hard for me to talk much about what makes this story so brilliant and so emotionally compelling without spoiling details- and this book is best FELT just as our characters do. Without knowing where fate will lead them, experiencing the highs and lows of both the unpredictable nature of life and love AND the growing pains of evolving as humans, of figuring out who we are and what (or who) we want. And I want you to experience this story JUST as that. But know this- Siobhan Davis is undoubtedly the queen of love triangles, and this is perhaps her most complicated and angsty yet. What makes Siobhan so brilliant isn’t just the conflicted feelings she raises in us, how she makes us double and desire just like our heroine. No- it’s not just the angst she inspires that makes her great. Though to be clear- this is a tour de force showing of ANGST. A turbulent vornado of emotions and heartache. But what makes her so great is how she juxtaposes the delicious complications of the love triangle against the existential awakening of our characters. It’s not JUST about romance, about choosing your “one”- because as triangles show, sometimes there is more than one “one” your heart can love. Rather, it’s about our characters understanding how love can show them different paths, can expose different parts of ourselves, can help us settle into just who we are, or at times morph or bend us in ways we weren’t meant to bend. Love can catalyze the journey of self- and sometimes your “one” is the very soul that amplifies the most YOU in yourself. Our heroine is trying to figure all that out while struggling to love two- just who she is, what she wants, and most of all, what choices get her closer to the core of herself, what choices lead her to the ONE she wants to be, not just the one she wants for herself. Every moment, every choice, every heartbreak is a piece in that puzzle- Siobhan elevates the conflict of choosing into the art of finding yourself. And I loved every word.

This story builds on a dramatic “what if” concept and paints two very different but equally impactful love stories. And there are so many things to unpack- how love can not be enough, how love is unexpected, how love can co-exist with two people and split the heart. What I love most of all is that LOVE is never really a question- this is not an easy love triangle, one with a clear and decided victor straight from the first page. Love truly DOES exist with both men, in a true and seemingly limitless capacity. It’s not about one love being bigger or being more real. Rather it’s about one love being more RIGHT. About how love might not be a choice, but how you give and express that love is. How love is both about need and choice- not about completion but about fulfillment. And it shows that can and should be work- that doing right by someone else and yourself is more than just giving them your heart, it’s about figuring out how to grow together, forgiveness and grace, and most of all making hard choices and compromises without truly compromising yourself fully. .And in that lens, the man Stevie ends up with this was clearly the ONLY one her heart could truly belong to- even if they journey to get there is painful, SO angsty, and full of obstacles.

Grab your tissues and your wine- and then grab some more. You’ll fall deep into both love stories, and if you’re like me, you’ll cry as much as you smile. But in the end, Siobhan gives us what she does best- a breathtaking, memorable, and heart-healing romance that pulses in the heart.

I could go on in life only reading one author's work and I know I won't be missing out or lacking anything.

“ 𝘽𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮. 𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩”

This was a rollercoaster of emotions,
Stevie went from the life-focused, goals and career driven person. To be grief stricken, in a tornado of heartbreak, lost and the occasional moments of joy, lust But love was the ever present fixure that changes shape but never leaves.

“ 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 ”

This is going to keep you company for a while, wether you pace yourself or inhale it at once.
You'll love every minute of.
I finished this last week and I'm fighting the urge to re-read. Or just read anything from @siobhandavisauthor 's backlist, what I know is that I'm going through withdrawal, and only her words can deliver.
I will always read her books knowing she's going to make me experience 'things' some new and some are like home, we go back to knowing we will find there.

“ 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀, 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 ”.

This is a love triangle, a trope that is " sensitive " for some, so be aware. The road is full of turns , ups and downs but in the end you get your well deserved smooth sailing HEA, in the best way ever.

“ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 ”.

« 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘐’𝘮 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰 »

This book is Siobhan’s signature.. If I didn’t know she was the author , I would have guessed it easily.. because of all the life she puts in her books, she puts all her heart in her characters and story .. so you don’t have another choice but to bleed with them.

what can I say ? It’s beautiful, emotional, painful, full of hearts, love, guilt , so much guilt …
I knew it was a love-triangle , and I know Siobhan, so I tried super hard not to fall for these two amazing guys.. but I failed , of course I failed … but , I had my preference, and Siobhan didn’t let me down ..

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩. 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘴. 𝘚𝘰, 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨.

It wasn’t her most painful book to read in my opinion , yes it was super emotional, Stevie was amazing, her choices she needed to make were impossible… but even if it was hard , Siobhan could have cut us way more deeply than that , and to be honest after some reviews I was expecting something worse… (or maybe I read too many of her books and I’m used to it ..)

“𝘎𝘰𝘴𝘩, 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦, 𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭. 𝘚𝘰 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭.”

if you are scared to read it because of the emotional nature of it , yes it’s painful to read sometimes, but if you are familiar with her works, it was, from my point of view, easily manageable.. so if you want a beautiful love story go for it.

Not only is this one of the best books I've read this year, this is my favorite Siobhan book EVER. I kid you not, this is her most emotional piece of writing she had ever published-- and I know you're shaking your head at me thinking about 'When Forever Changes' and 'Say I'm The One' and even 'Incognito', but trust me: this is the one you need to stock up on tissues and chocolate for.

Everything was just perfect and I am so glad Stevie ended up with who she did. I was really hoping it would turn out that way even before we were introduced to him, and the way everything flowed so beautifully and authentically (and yes, painfully).

This was just a perfect read, and I wish I could read this all over for the first time again and again. I just can't recommend this enough!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

2.5⭐️ TIKTOK YOU LIED TO ME!!
This is NOT in the same league as Say You Swear…

If you read this DO NOT READ THE PROLOGUE!!! What happens in the prologue is literally what happens at the end of the book BUT at the 38-40% mark you work out who is in the prologue and bam the book is ruined. You know exactly who she ends up with and everything 🤦🏻‍♀️

This book was 300 pages too long.
It was LONGGGGG. From 20-40% is dragged.

I did love parts of this book but the constant whiplash I got with liking and then disliking certain characters really pulled me out of the emotion of this book and let’s not mention the cringing parts…. Like “swollen belly” and “seed” 🙃

This makes me sad because I’ve loved some of Siobhan Davis books. Unfortunately this one wasn’t for me.

I enjoyed this one!! Stevie is struggling with work and school when she meets Garrick, Garrick falls for her instantly, and it takes him time to convince her to date him... there is a twist in this book, but you have to read it to find out. 😉 I wasn't expecting the twist and ending, but it still flowed beautifully. #Trust your heart ❤️ 😭🥺😍

“Our love is as strong as the roots of a tree, and though they may branch out along different paths, we will forever remain interconnected”

Incredible read. Go in as blind as possible. I will say if you're a fan of Say You Swear by Meagan Brandy you will love this. In my personal opinion, this book is the best love triangle I have ever read and one of my new favourite books.
I loved all the characters in this book even the ones that made me angry because the emotional rollercoaster I felt was so worth it. Not at all did I think for a second this 756-page book needed to be shortened it was spread out well and kept me gripped. Beck Colbert is hands down my top caring, loving and patient fictional man. This book was amazing.

I will say I wish the prologue was emotional when I read it again towards the end of the book or expanded on to get my tears flowing. I also didn’t cry but got teary multiple times. I will say it took me 30 days to read this book though, as I visited family for two weeks and I have been busy with work. The personal battle I had to finish this book was time. I was trying to find a window of 2 hours to read the book because if I picked it up, I wouldn’t be able to put it down. I think if I read this within a week I potentially could have cried. These are personal issues and don’t affect my feelings about the book as it was an incredible read and journey!

If you are looking for an absolute emotional rollercoaster, The One I Want by Siobhan Davis is perfect for you. Garrick, Stevie and Beck is all about complexity of love. Can one fall in love multiple times in life? What happens when life brings you to a crossroad where both choices are equally hard? This story will bring you to edge over and over again. It swings from sweet and swoony to devastating heartbreaking to sinfully sexy to deeply heartwarming.

Stevie was relentlessly pursued by Garrick when they were both in college and the first half of the book is like a dreamy fairytale. Garrick is the sweetest charmer. He fell first and he made it very clear that Stevie is THE ONE for him. Stevie is the commitment phobic one in the dynamics but Garrick broke down her walls. It was just so adorable and cozy with generous dose of spice. And then the story changes direction. A fateful accident put Garrick in coma and Stevie is devastated...Enter Beck, whom she meets in the hospital. It was supposed to be friendship only but love doesn't really listen to rules. So we are taken to a heartbreaking tale for the next half.

Stevie was in a dark place of guilt and grief. Beck had his emotional scars too. My heart was torn between Garrick and Beck, just like Stevie. Beck is gorgeous, kind, protective and the best part..completely dedicated to Stevie's happiness even when it means breaking his own heart. It was an impossible decision for the hearts. I want you to read it to know who Stevie choose. But I will say this: the author did a brilliant job of handling this very difficult story line. It needed a lot of balancing and finesse so that none of the character looks like villain. And she did such a good job! I know you will probably pick your side as the story moves. Love triangles are always soul wrecking if done in the right way. And Siobhan Davis delivers a beautiful one!

I don’t know how to start this review without spoiling and also because my emotions were all over the place. It started showing a friendship slowly very slowly growing that turns turn into more and then everything just shatters. You get a very good background on the characters and how they made it to where they are. It’s so many emotions wrapped in one that you will literally read this book with your hand over your chest because of the rollercoaster rides. You don’t know if to be happy sad or upset but it’s so worth the ride. The ending was sort of expect even though it pulls at your heartstrings but it was the right thing. The epilogue just makes everything come in full circle and you’ll be happy with the outcome.

DNF at this moment in time. I’m just not feeling it and this book is too long to have to wait for the moment that I “want” to keep going. This whole set up, the world that it is set in feels extremely young to me. The characters, at least so far in the first 35%, are just not likeable enough for me to want to care about them. Especially the female MC, so far she is more annoying than likeable.

I've glanced at reviews and they seem to say that it is fairly slow until around the 45% mark. There are 700+ pages! That means I have to read over 300 pages before it gets good? Really?

I haven't even met the other male MC and I'm well over 1/3 into the book.

As I said before- it's just not working for me at this particular moment in time. Maybe another time.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster for sure in the way that Siobhan always does perfectly. This is a love triangle love story you don't want to miss, it has all the feels and is a beautiful read from start to finish.

This is Stevie, Garrick and Beck's story and Stevie goes through so much. Stevie is very very independent and she is determined that no one is going to make her deviate from her goals.

This book is full of angst, suspense, twists and turns and so much guilt you can feel it all. The way that this author writes she makes your heart break and gently puts it back together.
Siobhan always writes her characters so real and we got to feel so deeply what they all are going through. The character development is absolutely amazing and I enjoyed seeing how these guys changed. I also loved The side characters too and this storyline flows beautifully throughout and I really enjoyed reading about all these guys. This book is a standalone that I highly recommend.

DNF at 26%
I had to put this book down for about a week because it was just so long and wordy. Like every single thought and action was written from both perspectives…
I finally decided to continue and when I didn’t want to read the redundant thoughts and extra words between their short conversations, I skimmed. Then we FINALLY get to the part where she agrees to date him and the “steamy scene” was very cringey. And honestly? Anticlimactic.

It’s like this… he has been chasing her for a relationship for a while. They’ve spent quite a bit of time together without any kissing or sexual activities. They kiss here and there for a few days… then they give each other the best oral in the world *enter eyeroll* (p.s. I’m so tired of reading a male character say the words “look at this pretty pussy”. I’ve never heard someone say those words EVER… aside from a book or MAYBE a movie… and it’s honestly creepy and weird to me. Total turn off. Buuuut whatever gets your rocks off, I guess)
But then… he decides they need to wait for sex because he wants it to be special. Like I get that he’s trying to be sweet, but this is just starting to get to the point where your being fed straight sugar and cavities are forming. You literally just f***ed her mouth. What is the point in waiting and making the evening more special? It already is. She made an “incredible” and ridiculous dinner that is really over the top for a struggling college student that has two jobs and school. You both are super into each other and she obviously has thought this through since she made you wait to finally put a name to the relationship and accept the girlfriend role. Basically, the author is trying way too hard to make this guy perfect and it is coming off more awkward and over the top.

In addition to all of that, she only kisses him after he goes above and beyond to help her grandmother out by fixing her barn and basically paying for it all. Look. She has been the type of person that doesn’t seem to take handouts and works very hard. So her just being happy and accepting this huge gift from him and then kissing him is out of character and odd.

Let’s jump back to the very freaking weird as hell birthday party for her grandmother. Where her best friend is asking Garrick extremely inappropriate sexual questions in front of a room full of ladies, including her grandmother and her mother. I get that it’s supposed to be funny and shocking, but it’s cringey! And they all seem to realize he is embarrassed and uncomfortable, but continue anyway. Now, I’m all for having conversations about sex. But when you realize someone is uncomfortable, you back off and apologize. Honestly, if it were the opposite… people would call it sexual harassment and talk about how gross it is. And that is exactly what it became and it isn’t okay for any person, regardless of gender, to ask those questions when the person is visibly uncomfortable.

Moving forward… her birthday bash. She is a struggling college student, her grandmother couldn’t afford to pay for a fix on the barn roof etc. but this thank you/birthday bash is excessive. Along with all of the money that they gathered from asking for help and the supplies they were just gifted, plus him getting her car fixed. There are no struggles and no shame in all of this extravagance. Then he sings her a song. 🙄🙄🙄 he’s infatuated and she’s in lala land happy as a clam, when she would’ve been eye rolling and walking away from all of this just a couple weeks prior.

I skimmed really hard and got to the actual weekend getaway where they’re going to finally have sex. And that is where I decided enough is enough. He’s talking about taking her hiking and tours and crap, has this cabin for them and there’s all these candles so everything will be perfect without the pressure… umm this is exactly the opposite. You’ve literally put all the pressure on your “first time” together by dragging it out and making it into this big event like it’s prom or the first time either of you have ever done anything with anyone. It shouldn’t be this intense and awkward. “Nothing but the best…” oh lawd spare me!

Basically this guy seems sweet, but he’s borderline stalking and coercing her into dating him. It’s really not sweet to be harassed into a relationship. He seems like a good guy, but at the same time it’s kinda gross.

And her entire personality just flipped when she decided to give in and date him. Everyone is saying they didn’t like her because she was mean to a sweet guy. But the reality is that she has no reason to be nice to the dude. She said no. She meant no. He wouldn’t leave her alone.

Utterly beautiful- this book took my breath away, the love, the loss, pain, and everything in-between was mesmerising.
I was completely captivated from the very beginning, I couldn’t put it down until the very last word.
The storyline is so well thought out, with highs and lows. I was honestly in tears a few times - certain parts were so gut wrenchingly sad.
The relationship journeys were beautifully written, the slow burn was spectacular in the build up and the steamy scenes were possessive and hot AF.
The detail and emotion in this book makes it so moving, I’m definitely adding this to my all time favourite list and can see myself reading this many many times again in the future.

2.5 stars for me. I love this author and her books however, this book was WAY TOO LONG. The first 35% of the book I could have done without, I felt is was unnecessary. I did not need all that back story and how Stevie and Garrrick came to be. I had a hard time connecting with Stevie and found myself liking Hads better. I really tried to like and enjoy the book but the I think it was the length and lack of connection that I formed with the 3 lead characters that made me feel like I couldn’t wait for it to end. I can usually read an 800 page book in 2-3 days and this took me 9.

I have to put my heart back together and get my thoughts together before i write my review

Siobhan, please stand up and take a bow. This book is now on the top of my list for favorites. If you are looking for a book that is going to tear your heart out step all over it this is the one. I had to stop reading it a few times because i got sooo emotional. The characters are well written. They all have a backstory that makes them react the way they do.You can feel every emotion they go through. I loved to see connections and friendships form. Here, my warning is to be prepared to cry multiple times, have tissues ready, and clear your calendars because it's going to be hard to put this book down.

I have never been this close to outright sobbing while reading a book. Stevie ends up in an untenable position, having to choose between two men. This friends-to-lovers love triangle is heart-wrenching. There will be bouts of laughter, tears, joyous moments, sorrow, and soul deep love. There are twists and turns that will make your heart pound. It is a beautiful story of love found.

Stevie finds her first love in Garrick. He's a sweet, caring, respectful boy the same age as her. They come from opposing backgrounds. Garrick's family is wealthy, whereas Stevie has learned the value of a dollar through working two jobs while attending college classes. They may not always see eye to eye about money, but they agree on the depth of their love for each other. When she seeks clarity and solitude, she meets Beck, a man who is only a few years older than her but has his own miseries. There's a sense of peace that she feels when in his presence. What starts as two people looking for their absolution becomes a deep friendship. That friendship slowly becomes so much more as they begin to rely on each other through highs and lows. An all-consuming love doesn't come twice in a single lifetime, but what if it could? Is it possible to love two men equally but differently? How can Stevie possibly choose one over the other?

I highly recommend this novel to everyone who loves an intense, heart-warming love story. It melted my heart and left me with tears in my eyes.
