Gaston Berghmans is Vlaanderens meest geliefde komiek. Samen met Leo Martin maakte hij als 'Gaston & Leo' furore met sketches die in ons collectieve geheugen gegrift staan. Deze pionier van de Vlaamse amusementsgeschiedenis stond zo'n vijftig jaar op de planken. Hij schitterde op tv en in de bioscoop, en zette zo de bakens uit voor hele generaties Vlaamse komieken. In dit boek blijkt hij op zijn eigen manier uitgebreid terug op zijn leven zn zijn carrière. Hij beschrijft hoe het allemaal begon. Met een lach en een traan. Op zijn eigen manier: amusant en plezant, zoals het hoort voor Vlanderens komiek nummer 1!

Born in 1926 and living around the city of Antwerp, Gaston takes us through his life until his encounter with Leo Martin; a second book. In this book he describes his youth until the age of about 35. Gaston is a very talented comic who met dozens of international stars in the 1950's like Shirley Bassey and Petula Clark and of course all the Flemish stars in that era. The book counts about 70 chapters of anecdotes and fond memories sometimes tragic, mostly funny, but always very emotional. That's why I liked this book so much! It is written with humour and kindness for all the people he knew back then. A wonderful lifestory.
