LOVE this book version of the classic Ants Marching song (not to be confusing with Dave Matthews Band). There are holes in the book for the puddles (ala Hungry Caterpillar) and it is an early singalong introduction to the multiplication table. Charming and well done all around!

1. Awards the book has received (if any)
N/a

2. Appropriate grade level(s)
Pre-K to Kindergarten/ 1st grade

3. Original summary (be succinct -- no more than 3 sentences)
This book is an illustrated text of the famous children's song, "The Ants Go Marching," which teaches numeracy skills.

4. Original review (be succinct -- no more than 3 sentences)
Although this song gets a little (or very) redundant towards the end, it's a perfect tool to help young students understand the succession of numbers as each illustration shows more and more ants marching.

5. 1-2 possible in-class uses (these can be as specific or general as you’d like — try to think through what we’ve talked about so far, what you’ve observed in your FW classrooms, and anything else you come up with)
Excellent for a counting or numeracy lesson in Pre-K or Kindergarten.

Child's Play makes excellent "big books" that are perfect for preschool & toddler story time. Parents aren't as shy to sing along with words in such a large format.

Crisp really had to come up with creative fashion choices to distinguish 100 ants from one another!

The holes seem a little secondary.

A classic song that everyone has grown up with. This book offers the opportunity for activity within the pages and brings the reader a bit closer to the song and the book. The book tells the story of the ants, and then the students have the chance to enjoy the song at the end of the book.

The pages of this book allow the reader to see the story in a new light. The story of the ants is told, individual ants are identified and then the song is learned at the end of the book. The song is brought to life for the reader in a way that it previously had not been.

This book could help with early lessons in school, such as walking in a line and following the leader. It also helps with a little bit of a deeper lesson that though all the ants may look the same, they are all individuals.

I have to admit I am partial to this title because my little brother used to sing it ALL the time. After "The Ants go Marching 3 x 3" I'm usually done with it and am ready to skip ahead to 10 x 10. I stuck with it though and read it all cover to cover and only slightly changed the words to the lyrics I was more familiar with. The little guy I was watching asked that I read it again to which I quickly responded, "no, just once each day".

This is a decent book for grades k-2 teaching students how to count. Counting is not the most exciting subject to teach, however, many students have heard the song "When The Ants Go Marching In". This would create a great opportunity for the students to make a connection and help them to learn counting and sequencing!

This is a cute book that get kids counting with you. Maybe more preschool theme but this can work when you are learning 1-10 addition facts. You can also sing the song when you are done. Count how many ways the ants go marching.

The ants go marching is a great book for really young readers. It's big pages and colorful and interactive pages will catch their attention. It will also make them think, for example which color is in the background and which color is the page.

It's a cute little book, not my favorite to read to my son. I do think it helps with his speech delay with the repetitive of words.

I feel dizzy to see many ants. But this book would help for children who start to learn counting and multiplying numbers.

1. Awards the book has received
None that i could find
2. Appropriate grade level(s)
Kindergarten -2nd grade

3. Original summary
This book is about ants that go marching in the rain which is read by a catchy tune throughout the story. The ants keep adding up as they march along.
4. Original review
I think this is a great book for children because as the story is being read the children can move along to the song/story as if they are marching ants which will generate with the children more positively.
5. This book is a great way to get the children moving when they just have had enough of siting around and they need to let out their sillyness. This book can activly teach the children how to count. When a teacher teaches with a song attached to a lesson the children are more likely to sing this tune/song in there heads when counting again in the furture, or when they struggle.
