Version française au-dessous de sa traduction en anglais.
I would have thought that this book would take up right where the previous one left off, but nope (I’m a little relieved by that, even though I also would have liked to read a direct sequel to the first book, too!) – we’re going to go back in time once again, to the beginning of Jadina’s story, and all the events which guided her towards the path to become a Legendary. But before that, she was a child prone to temper-tantrums, who sought out her parent’s love, and only found parental love from her private tutor, Kalisto Vangelis.
There were again nods to popular culture in the same vein as the apperance of Pikachu in Danaël’s book, which amused me – these nods always amuse me, and I continue to really appreciate the magnificent artwork. I find it beautiful, and also a little more shojo than the shonen-style of the original series.
As much as this book has brilliant colors and shows all the splendor of Jadina’s home city, we also see the dark sides of what it means to be part of the royal family with Invidia’s plotting (the queen’s sister), and the suffering that her son endured. But there are also slightly more hidden and more serious clues regarding the queen Adeyrid and the tutor Kalisto Vangelis (you have to know how to read between the lines – it’s rather obvious, without it being shoved in your face). On the other hand, I’m on the fence about how Kalandre is getting involved in all of these matters…even if it’s frankly not really surprising after having read the original series…

J'aurais pensé que ce tome deux va reprendre où le tome un est fini, mais non (je me sens soulagé, même si j'aurais aimé lire la suite du tome 1 aussi!)- on va revenir encore dans le temps, pour trouver le début de l'histoire de Jadina, et les évènements qui l'ont emmené vers le chemin d'un Légendaire. Mais avant ça, elle était un enfant capricieux, qui cherchait l'amour de ses parents, et ne retrouve de l'amour parentale que de son professeur Kalisto Vangelis.
Il y avait en plus quelques clins d’œil culturels dans le même veine du Pikachu dans le livre de Danaël, ce qui m'a amusée - ces clins d’œil m'amuse toujours, et je continue à vraiment apprécie les dessins magnifique. Je les trouve jolis, et aussi un peu plus shojo que le shonen de la série originale.
Autant que ce livre montre des couleurs splendides et la ville natale de Jadina en plein beauté, on voit aussi les ombres de ce que ça veut dire de faire partie de la famille royale avec les machinations de Invidia, la sœur de la reine, et les douleurs qu'ont souffert son fils. Mais aussi des indices plus cachées et plus sérieuses par rapport à la reine Adeyrid et le professeur Kalisto Vangelis (faut savoir lire entre les lignes - c'est assez évident, sans être balancé dans la figure). Par contre, je suis indécis sur le point où Kalandre se mêle dans toutes ces affaires...même si ce n'est pas vraiment étonnant d'après avoir lu la série originale...

Jadina n'est pas mon personnage préféré mais j'ai adoré son origine, j'ai qu'une envie c'est d'en apprendre plus sur sa famille.

An engrossing read, this second volume in the 'Origines' series proves that Sobral has quite a bit of storytelling chops.
I loved the art (and may even be growing fonder of this version of the heroes than their original 'manga' ones) and the story-line is quite compelling, but I have to say that my one complaint is the lack of link to the other 'Legendaires' heroes. While there is evidence of this episode tying back into the larger story-line as a whole, I can't help but feel that the main focus of this side series is becoming more about Kalandre, and less about the origins of the heroes themselves. Nonetheless, the added backstory is an enormous boon to fans of these characters and their world, and I can't wait to get back into it with the next volume. A solid recommend, with the caveat that it's a much more rewarding read for those already familiar with this universe.
