Stanley Kramer describes the work of storm chaser Warren Faidley, whom I've seen on TV lots of times. Faidley chases storms to photograph them, and he focuses on tornadoes, hurricanes, and lightning. I enjoyed reading about how he works, though, I confess, I think he's nuts to be photographing out in a lightning storm! One thing about this book did annoy me--no captions on any of the photos. I wasn't sure if the photo I was looking at was one described in the text on that page or not. Nevertheless, I liked them, and was fascinated by the photo of lightning hitting a light pole from less than 400 yards away from the camera--a once in a lifetime shot. He's lucky he wasn't killed taking it! I think adventurous kids will enjoy this, and fortunately, he does talk about safety. Recommended!

This would be a good book for 3-5th graders who are doing a unit on weather or storms. This book follows a storm chaser named Warren Faidley. In the book, he talks about many things, including how storms (tornados, lightning, etc.) form, how he studies them, and what you can do to stay safe while they take place. Very good, content heavy book that shows students a real life application for what they are learning about storms and weather.

I found this book pretty informative, however, it isn't a recently written book so I am sure some weather related information has changed. The pictures are wonderful!! Kids/adults who savor books on weather and tornadoes should pick it up just to read about the fascinating experiences this storm chaser has with mother nature!

This book gives a background on famous storm photographer, Warren Faidley. It shows many of his beautiful and awe-inspiring pictures of lightning strikes and fierce tornadoes. It tells of the thrills and dangers of being a storm chaser and storm photographer. Great for late elementary school age to early middle school.

This book is about how a Hurricane photographer named Warren takes pictures of very bad storms. This taking a risk of loosing his life just so people can see what it is like to go through awful things. I liked this book because it is a true story.

Great book about storm chasing and the photographer Warren Faidley who was caught so many interesting images. There are entire sections of the book dedicated to how Warren takes certain shots, too.
