Draco loves his son more than anything in the world. So, when his ex-wife plans to take his son away, Draco asks the most unlikely person for help. Hermione must decide whether changing her entire life is worth helping the man she hates unconditionally.
I never thought I'd like fanfics where Draco or Hermione had a kid but then I loved The Deadline and now this!
I absolutely loved Zane and Donny and Narcissa and even Lucius haha :P Kinda missed Harry and Ron in this but since they didn't really have much to do with the actual plotline, it was completely fine. Draco was obviously my favourite and if you read all my fanfic reviews, anybody can see that I'm always fangirling over him >.>
Anyway the story was very well paced and nothing seemed too rushed. The characters actually seemed like themselves. You could see the effort the author took to make Zane sound like an actual four year old. Did I mention that he was adorable? Because he definitely was. There was some fluff but not so much that you'd want to gag lol. Definitely a nice read, I'm in such a good mood now!
Give it a read if you have time. It's short and can be a pick-me-up after a rather dull streak of fanfics :D
Everyone probably read the summary so let's get right into it!
I really loved Zane, he was such a cutie! All the side characters except Pansy were nice.
Now onto things I didn't like:
-Draco getting mad at Hermione after she was almost raped. -Lucius and Draco being kinda homophobic - Draco spanking his son (even if it was light) - horrendous name 'Wolfiegang' like wtf
what the hell was that ? Draco's son have Death Eaters toys and Draco does not understand why hermione don't appreciate that while she had to be torture and spend an entire year hiding in the woods because of them ? they is way too much weird moments in this fanfiction what am i reading
3.5*-4* Nice family reading that channels lighter and also darker feelings. Story that rises from ashes of broken-up family to show importance of family
I am debating with myself, whether to give 3* or 4* stars, when I felt that it was something between 3.5 and4* stars. To be honest I had quite different expectations after I read the summary, I thought that it would be darker, much more emotionally taxing reading. But the first chapters already hinted that it will be lighter, easier reading. i dont know how to express it, but the story presented itself a little bit like something that you could watch on TV in the afternoon. I also needed some time to get used to this writing style, when the author was quite straight with what was happening. For example the dialogues in first chapters werent very cushioned by explanation of what was was the character feeling/doing which would give you more details about what you was goin on, which was something that I missed. I always take delight in the sentences complete the picture by their emotional weight. Or for example some scene focused only on the most important things without giving us insight of the person who was present in the scene, while the person wasnt the main focus of the story. On the other hand I was glad that the author didnt give too much attention to other couples that were born in the story, because it would be distracting for me. In other words, It wouldnt be very entertaining for me, therefore I am glad that the author stayed faithful to her focus on Dramione.
Well, I got used to the writing style quite quickly and started to feel pleasant enjoyment from reading. It was that kind of pleasant feeling that you get when you feel breeze touching your cheek. I must say that I enjoyed the most the part when Draco and Hermione started to fall in love and being affectionate to each other. I really appreciated how Draco was considerate of Hermiones parents regarding wedding location, which touched her and made her kiss him, then her kissing him due to the minister woman inspecting their house. He also made effort to be better man after getting scare by theat inspector who got to know thanks to Zane that he was fighting with Hermione.
One reader mentioned that many characters were likeable - Zane, Lucius, Donny - and I must agree. I loved bubbly Donny, I came to like and appreciate Zane although I viewed him as a brat at first. I was also surprised how Lucius grew to my heart, he was very civil, funny with his remarks and I appreciated that he helped to cement the story and not to disrupt it.
I liked how Zane was kindhearted and how he was good friend with everyone. I was in seventh heaven when Hermione confessed that she admired Draco for what he was doing in his job. I enjoyed how the author showed how Draco was broken after Zane´s accident but I was outraged by what Draco did in his weak moment. I really didnt see why the author had to include that decision of his. On the other hand the ending scene was very impressive and I liked that it had serious undertones.
P.S.And there was also one chapter dedicated to sick Draco. :D Influenza...
Overall thats give me much of fun and joy to read, but At the same time, it didn't give me anything unusual. It's another adorable fanfic with a child/married.
But one thing I particularly hate about this FIC is normalising a child beating, even a light stroke is violence 🤨
cute!! it’s a bit of light reading like hermione would say, i enjoy every words that she wrote, i cant help but awe-ing most of the time i love the malfoys! and i certainly am a sucker for happy ending
