Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a wedding looms on the horizon. Mia and Ted have cold feet, but it’s not from wedding jitters. It’s from tramping through the woods in search of the nightly marauders who have been haunting the small community adjacent to the forest. Six lost souls have been spotted. Can Mia and the PEEPs team help these children before the ghosts become more destructive?
Just when Mia and Ted think they are out of the woods, Sherriff Ryan pulls them back in. “Nothing good ever came out of Sentinel Woods.” This warning echoes in Mia’s mind as she, Ted and Murphy search for seven missing teenagers. Their hunt takes the couple deep into a hundred acres of sinkholes, quicksand and ancient trees, all governed by a vengeful deadly spirit.
Meanwhile, Ralph has been planning a “respectable spectacle” of a wedding for the young couple. With him in charge, it’s full steampunk ahead.
Come join the PEEPs for fun, horror, and perhaps a happily ever after…
My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read. Once upon a time… I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads. It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.
I read this one first not knowing anything about the series and towards the end it got really confusing because she was adding characters from the different books. So if you didnt read the other books it was a little scrambled.
This novel was in three parts; a haunting involving children, an ancient wood spirit story, and the wedding.
I loved the wedding - Ralph is a wedding planner extraordinaire. The steampunk outfits and setting was amazing.
But for the first time ever in this series, I was a bit underwhelmed by the ghost story parts of the story. The first story involving the ghost children wasn't particularly creepy and it wasn't really that sad - it wasn't really anything. And the second story, involving the wood spirit, was more about spoilt entitled teenagers than spirit or ghosts.
I hope Alexie Aaron goes back to a single haunting in future novels - I'm not really a fan of the short stories, loosely linked together.
Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better. I really cannot describe the emotions that go through me with each book. I fall more in love with Mia and Ted. Murphy just holds my heart, and the rest of the characters are just as wonderful. Great series for any genre of book lovers!
A fascinating story line with 3 different parts. Each was extremely entertaining and intense. A beautiful wedding for Ted and Mia. So much detail I felt as If I were right there. I'm glad Mia got all her cases solved before her wedding so Ralph didn't have a heart attack. This is a phenomenal series and is definitely one of my favorites!
I loved this book. It had another couple different stories . The first was really kind of neat and sweet with ghostly hi-jinks of children. It was like the calm before the storm that lead to the second one. The second story reminded me of a SYFY movie with some sort of monster. Then the ending I absolutely loved and cried!! The wedding!!!!
a haunting, so much love, joy, resolution. and a fine wedding..also, a side trip to a more sinister wood occupied by an over protective and occasionally vengeful supernatural entity and involving a sociopath and several careless and conscienceless young men bedeviling a teenager. it ends very happily for our corporeal couple and for a long parted pair of ghostly lovers. re-read February, 2017.
wow is all I can say. I went back and read the beginning again then couldn't stop. wild with many elements. I loved when daisy was reunited with her captain
