Watch out Santa, Nanny Piggins is coming to town this Christmas! This is not a survival guide to Christmas. This is a guide to conquering the Yuletide season! That's right, it is time to take a stand - don't suffer through another year of brussels sprouts, gift-wrapped socks and slobbery kisses from great aunts who forget to put their teeth in. Take control of your Christmas and put the happy back in your holiday, using the handy hints, games and inspiring stories within this book.
Sooo...It's nearly Christmas what better time to read a Nanny Piggins book all about surviving Christmas!?!?
HOWEVER, I didn't realise the stories were ones taken from the other novels..It's kinda lucky I took a break from her books otherwise I would of felt a little gipped...It was only until I stumbled onto one of the stories I had read the week beforehand that I discovered these were a collection of stories with other tid bits thrown into the cakey mix. One story Christmas story I'd only just read in her other book so I skipped it all together!
Still, I loved Piggin's christmas carols..I could hear the tune in my head while I read the "fixed" lyrics that I even sang them out loud afterwards giggling all the way along.
Again this book has great humour in it for every age group! Now, I haven't read all of Nanny Piggins books yet soo when I come up to the Xmas story I may jump over them.
In between the stories are recipes...Do they actually work? Boris's letters to Santa were amusing, I really enjoyed Mrs. Claus's response. The games and survival tips were also great to grin at.
The usual antics you'd expect from Nanny Piggins, with plenty of holiday cheer and recipes throughout. If you're a fan of Nanny Piggins, you'll enjoy this book!
This book is slightly different than the others in the series. It is still however, perfectly choreographed to fit the perfect style of the rest of the series. A profoundly satisfying read.
Funny and very engaging. My seven year old daughter adored this book and was in fits of giggles. She’s obsessed with Nanny Piggins and has insisted we read the rest of the series. As a nice bonus it’s super fun to read out loud as an adult. Nothing beats making your kid laugh and this delivered in spades.
This eggcellent book does not only feature amazing stories and adventures - it also gives you eggcellent recipes for desserts. R.A. Spratt is an amazing author whose description is very vivid and has out-of-this world imagination. I strongly recommend this book to 8-12 year olds. But people who like cakes, cooking or pigs would enjoy this series too!
If it's Nanny Piggins, there's a 100% guarantee I'll enjoy it. I don't care what age level it's written for, every Nanny Piggins book is a masterpiece.
idk why I thought this was a newer book bcos I’m almost certain I read it as a 11yo but hey it was christmassy and fun so why not reread it 10 years later?

Gift from grandmother.
Not an author I'd read before, and not one I would look for. An Australian author with Australian feel (including ref to houses in Coober Pedy). But writes for an odd age group - there is a difficult vocabulary (older children), situations that appeal to older child but the Nanny-who-is-a-pig is a younger concept.
Book includes recipes, games and other holiday "tips".
Overall, we liked it. And liked it well enough to loan to the 10yo cousin. But isn't an author I'd look for again.
