Serena, a career woman turned stay-at-home mom, wonders if she has made the right choice. Erika struggles to let go of her abusive past. Tawana, a new lawyer, is trying to pull her life together, but her ambitions keep getting in the way. Three women, each at different places in their lives, find themselves at the same crossroads--looking to God and to each other for answers on how to find beauty in themselves and in their journey. Watercolored Pearls is a page-turning story of how God can use the tragic, the shameful, and the less-than-perfect circumstances of life to create something beautiful.

When was the last time you read something so riveting, tears rolled down your face, leaving you to feel tranquility like you had been washed in the blood of Jesus? Before reading Watercolored Pearls by Stacy Hawkins Adams, I could truly say I do not recall ever having this experience, and if I did...I do not remember it. This I do know, I will remember. Three friends, going through their own trials and tribulations, get a revelation from a woman of great wisdom, who received her wisdom from another woman. How often can we say that we have been inclined to reach out and touch someone else's life and make a difference? Serena McDainels, a stay-at-home mother of two year-old twin boys, is a minister's wife. She and her husband, Micah, had to make some changes when he was let go from being the minister of one of the up-and-coming churches in Richmond, Virginia. Though she is a woman of God, Serena fights with her own internal demons. What lesson will she learn when she leaves that weekend? Ericka Tyler Wilson, a mother and interior designer, stands at the crossroad where old love and new love are the signs marking the road. Trying to decide which way to go, she turns to reading the Bible and praying. But in order to get the answers to her prayers, she has to be willing to listen. What words would be said to her that weekend, which would lead her in the path chosen for her? Tawana Carter, a young mother and student at Harvard law school, pushes herself to get ahead, but in the wrong ways. When she is offered the chance to intern at a topnotch law firm in Richmond for the summer, she lets one night affect how she thinks of herself. Finally, her past has caught up with her. She has to decide what to do, continue to run from her past or stand up and face it. What does she take away from that weekend with friends? The Lord places angels in our lives as he sees fit. It may not be when we want it but He is always on time. Stacy Hawkins Adams poured her heart and soul into this book. I have not read any of her other works, but that did not stop me from picking up this one. This book did not miss a beat, and it had me crying and touched my heart to the core. I recommend Watercolored Pearls to everyone, whether you enjoy Christian fiction or not. There is a life lesson that you will learn while reading it.
Serena, Erika, and Tawana three friends and they are going through some trials right now, but know how to call on the name of Jesus. Serena is a stay at home mom to twin boys, and the first lady. Her husband Micah is always busy with church obligations. Serena has some demons that she needs to deal with. Ericka is a single mom and trying to become an interior designer. Ericka left her abusive husband to save her life. Ericka is confused about divorcing her husband because of the Bible. Ericka is confused about which way to turn. Tawana is a single mom and a law student at Harvard. Tawana want to be successful but she ends up doing things that is wrong. Tawana is given the opportunity to intern at on well-known law firm in Richmond. Tawana has issues from her past that she needs to face. We all will face some serious issues in our lives, but we need to call on God. God always provide what we need. Awesome job!!!
This novel does a great job of explaining how our journey through life with God isn't a 'get there' destination, but a series of stops on a continuous journey.
I usually like Stacy Hawkins Adams books but this one just didn't hold my interest. It was kinda monotonous. Not much climax and kinda humdrum. However, I do like the spiritual aspect of her writings all the time. I can't say I won't read any others but it literally took me to read another book and come back to finish this one. So I was pretty disappointed.
I found out about this book a few years back when I saw a lady reading it in the hair salon. I just got around to reading this book. It was a wonderful journey to be on with Serena, Erika, Tawana and even Bethany as well as Mara. Each woman taught a valuable lesson that can be applied to everyday living. Also, I was able to visualize the whole story due to residing near Richmond.
Friendships are deepened across a spring and summer as Serena, Erika, and Tawana face major obstacles. Their faith -- a little different for each of them -- gets them through. An especially memorable storyline featured Harvard Law student Tawana and the case she takes part in as part of a summer internship -- made me think that Adams might easily write suspense or mystery stories. Set in Richmond, believably.
What a great book! This is such a good read. The characters are well written and the plot is so good. I found myself talking out loud in response to the storyline. I just happened upon this author and I'm glad I did.
I've had this book for years and never read it. It took me about 4 or 5 days to finish it and I enjoyed it. I liked that the chapters weren't really long and they flowed really nicely. The characters were relatable as well. I recommend this book.
This novel was very enlightening. It made me recognize that true friends are truely hard to come by and when you find them cherish them. Having good friends is like being in a relationship. You will have your ups and downs, and if you are a trued friend you are going to stick with your friend through the good and bad times. This book shows how friends stick together and teach the value of friendship and how through God they have survived through their trying times with the support of each other.
This was a good read. It touched on a lot of issues. Never judge a book by its cover and never underestimate a person. People may be going thru a lot and you would never know just from being on the outside looking in..... Micah was a true man of God and he never let anything break him. The Deacon from his former church knew that and that's why he came for Micah to pray for him... Bethany got just what she deserved. Good read!!!!
I loved this book especially how each of the women's story was woven and its impact to the others. The major impact I feel was the interaction of each woman which bend down with different problems but always trust the Lord to lead them. Each woman was a winner although there was a steep learing curve for all. This is my second book by the author and looking foward to reading more.
Third book in the series, I keep hoping for another but not sure that is going to happen.
This was a great book about my three friends Serena, Erika and Tawana. We have seen them grow so much over the past books and this one was no different.
We see all three struggle with their relationships, their self worth and of course their faith.
I read that book just when I needed it most! The characters in this book and their issues reminded me that with God all things are possible. Micah and Serena were truly led by God. This book is truly a must read. This is the fourth book I've read by this author and I will be reading all of her books.
This was an excellent read. Stacy Hawkins Adams' stories always make you reflect on your life and your relationships. Serena's story was near and dear to my heart for many reasons. The pearl analogy was something I am thinking of doing with my girlfriends. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
Watercolored pearls, are about women coming together and learning more about live and the spirits that they have.Learning about there lifes and how God can fix anything.Good have so much for us if we just believe.
My favorite part was the explanation of the title & the meaning of the book. I enjoyed the characters, the messages, and the sudden twist in plot. This is a good book & it makes you do some self reflection.
Loved this book. It gave a beautiful expression of how the adversities, trials, tribulations and circumstances of our lives work to help create the beautiful gem that God had already ordained us to be, just like the elements that work together to create the precious pearl.
I get it, we women live complicated lives; yet at time I found the women's lives in the book a bit of a far stretch for me to believe. It is a light novel, if that's the sort of thing you are looking for (which I was at the time).
Great follow up to the ladies from the last book. I love how real the characters are and how focused on God the book is. I want there to be more books with them!
If you loved the first book of this series ( Speak to my Heart) then you'll love this one. It left me guessing and entertained throughout the chapters.
Watercolored Pearls is the quiet Christian telling of 3 women learning about each other and making conscious choices about life. Readers who enjoy easy organized reading will enjoy this book.
A beautiful story of strong women, each with their own baggage leaning on one another and with their faith in God they pull through, one day at a time.
