A.K. Michaels does it again! Since starting this series I haven't slept, ate, and my kids have decided if they want me the throw a pillow at me because I get so lost in this world that I ignore everything! Alex has been changed and Zach is waiting on pins and needles to see if she will survive.
James being the great friend he is has decided to stay and help Zach and when he meets Lisa he has thoughts he hasn't felt since before the explosion that left him with the scars he has.
As always the story was epic! Zach is such an amazing mate for Alex! They are adorable together. I fell in love with James too! All of these yummy men in this series are (shivers) spectacular!
As in true Defender style they save the day, the girl, and the ending left me dying for the next book!

This is the third book I this series and A K Michaels keeps you on your toes. The storyline was fantastic as always. Zack and Alex were not the only storylines this time. James finds someone and comes out of his safety zone. The new character Lisa is a great addition to the characters. She's full of pep and energy. The birth of the twins was great but the birth at the end of the books is the best. The cliffhanger is there as always but that's ok it keeps you reading.

Wow. Some amazing things and heartbreaking things happen in this book. Alex delivered her twins, a girl and boy. While everyone is overjoyed that the twins are healthy, there mother lay on the operating table bleeding to death. Zack has two choices. He can try and turn her, of let her die, in which he will also die.
He makes the only choice he can. The babies can't live without their parents. However a newly turned vamp is extremely dangerous to anyone or anything around them, so Zack can't let her be need Alexinia (Lexi) or Conall.
Their friend and pilot flies them to a remote location and promises to return to help. This journey has more in store for all 3 of them than they ever imagined. Lives will be changed forever.
This book is extremely well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The author does an amazing job portraying the characters, their emotions and the experiences they go through. This series is highly addicting. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down. I had to know what would happen next. It kept me completely captivated from the first page through the last.
Again, the books do need to be read in order. I highly recommend this book and series to those who enjoy Vampires / Wolves / Fairies / Angels and paranormal romance

In order to save Alex, Zach has to make a choice and hope it was the right one and in helping Zach, James finds something he never thought he would have and everyone awaits to find out just what’s in store for the twin babies in this gripping Defender’s Blood novel.
Emotional turbulence, exciting action scene and sizzling passion keep the readers glued to the pages of this heart gripping story as Alex and Zach come to terms with the changes in their lives and James finally starts to come out of his self-imposed exile. There is lots of scorching hot sex scenes from more than just Alex and Zach including some BDSM and role play scenes that will leave you panting for more but of course no relationship is without conflicts and since we now have a new mating that comes with another set of issues that could bring about a war… well let’s just say that things are a heating up with lots of excitement. The characters are strong, compelling and demand the reader’s attention from the very beginning while the fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of suspense, action and romance.
Expectation and excitement builds throughout the story from several different directions as there are escapes, rescues, new missions, and some truly happy changes in all the characters’ lives – sorry I will not ruin the surprises although I will tell you that some will make your heart cheer, some will make you angry and some will make you want to cry, so be prepared because the well written scenes and details bring the story to life ensuring that the readers become completely immersed in the story.
Warning: If you have not read the previous books in this series, I highly recommend that you do so in order to get the full impact and complete enjoyment out of this story and there is a major cliff hanger at the end which has me chomping at the bit to read the next one.

5 awesome stars - this book was packed with action and romance and everything else in between.
Book 3 starts where book 2 left off, and Zach has to take Alex away while she goes through the process of changing from Human to Vampire.
Ms Michaels has yet to have written something I have not enjoyed reading, if you like Vampires and Shifters, wolves and Angels you are going to love the 'Defenders Blood Series' .
I do not want to give much away so I will just say that we have lots going on, various couples have some life changing events happening, we have births, escapes, and rescues happening.
There are some hot sex scenes in this book, Ms Michaels has a great way of writing a passionate sex scene without it becoming OTT, which is something I prefer, I read the book for the story, I want the Romance etc, but its the extra topping on top of the very tasty story underneath.
Right - I need to jump straight into Book 4 as it ended up with quite a shocker...
But thats the great thing about this series - there's 8 books in the series all ready for us to read - YAY!

This series must be read in order..Although each book has an ending our mischievous author still gives us a cliffhanger to make sure we are eagerly reaching for the next one.
We start this book with Alex bleeding to death after an emergency cesarean to deliver her twins. I spent the first three chapters snivelling.
James is a vampire and a pilot who hides himself away because of his scars. When he takes Zach to an isolated cabin they have to pass through a wolf pack's land. The Alpha's daughter is there to guide them to the cabin.
Lisa is attracted to the vampire and barely notices his scars. But her father will never allow her to mate with anyone except a wolf.
There is a lot of emotional torment in this story, for many of the characters. The sex scenes are steamy, and there are some vicious fights.
It's a good job I already have the next book . I do not want to wait to read it.

I continue to enjoy this series and really like the development of the secondary characters. In this book it's James, the very physically and mentally scarred vampire pilot from the first two books. He meets his mate, Lisa, when he helps Zach get Alex through her turning in a remote area of Canada. This book was actually more about James and Lisa than Zach and Alex which was great although I was missing the action in this installment. There was lots of sex and just a little bit of action.

I received this ad a review copy, i will also say that I try to not post spoilers but it is always possible.
I am floored yet again by how well she writes! I start these books and I do not want to put them down. Which is almost impossible with Christmas here now. She has a style of writing that keeps you glued and entertained with this set of stories. The complex interactions of not just the main story but the little stories going on around them. Is completely and utterly amazing.
She can twist the tell so you do not know if your matching a couple up or is there just a friendly helper there. You keep thinking one way then it switched and your thinking another. Which I have to say I love love love!!! A good twisting story is the way to keep me reading your books and she supplies that in spades!!

James is in for a shocker of his own!!
I was crying from book 2 when I started book 3 and continued to cry. This series will pull you in and suck you dry! I really love A.K. Michaels writing style she has a way of writing that is just plain awesome!
All the people that we have met in Book 1 & 2 make an appearance in this book as we also meet others.

Book 3 in the series is possibly the best yet! Several interconnecting plots wind their way through the story. James, the vampire pilot, meets a wolf-girl named Lisa. Will they be true mates, or good friends? Alex is fighting to survive her transformation into a vampire, but after days of agonizing screams, Zach is sure she is doomed. A family of wolves needs the councils help to escape an abusive Alpha, and Dimitri is sent to help. He feels strange sensations when he confronts the Mother. All in all this was a highly entertaining book, containing beloved characters from previous novels, and a few new faces. A lot of questions are resolved, and a lot more are created. Enjoy!

Page Turner!!
I think Ava just loves to keep me awake cause she keeps writing these books that I can't put down because I just have to know what happens. The first thing I thought reading this book was 'its raining mate's. Seems like we keep getting the making of yet and other storyline and book. This books brings in some situations of where you as the reader will feel the same way as the characters and want to be right there with them carrying a 2x4.
I just love reading Ava's books and I think everyone else should enjoy the experience with me..

Book three, The Turning, this is sure-enough an impressive continuation of the Defender's Blood series. Zach has to help Alex with becoming a vampire and it is not a pleasant experience. In the mean time James finds that his life takes an astonishing turn for the better. The twins are showing that they are genuinely special in remarkable ways. Love, tragedy, sex, violence, mystery......this story continues to get better. Astonishing ending. On to the next book!!

The characters are fab and im so happy for all the mated characters. Im ecstatic that James finally found some happiness after what he's been through! Oh my, this story has you crying almost on the first page! as he holds his love in his arms he must choose between losing her forever or 'turning' her in the same as he, a vampire to save her life. what a choice!! another must read in the series.

I love all of Ms. Michaels' book that I have read so far. There was a part that kind of reminded me of Twilight which btw I loved.
