Kris Jordan is a Young Adult Author who loves working with teens. She has volunteered in her church youth group as well as worked in various organizations with at-risk youth. These young people, as well as her own life, inspire her stories.
I read Stain by Kris Jordan after it was Signed by her with wonderful words and given to me as a gift. When I heard the Name of the book it drew me in and I was instantly Struck with Curiousity and Then I seen the Cover and I knew I just had to read it. I noticed how some books and authors begin their books with words that are unappealing and therefore they lose alot of readers in the first page of their book. I know this Author has great tallent in her writing because I recieved the exact opposite feeling, I had to turn the page to find out more. She not only has a writing style that is very appealing and easy to understand for anybody- I would assume, However I am from the Midwest and the way of speaking in this book comes naturally here- But she also has a way of telling a story so right that it may be with you forever, Like you know you will remember every word of this for a long time. The Book would make a great movie and there is barely a point where nothing is happening. You can picture it all happening in your mind and the situations are very real and could be or have happened to many around the world. There are even Hints within the Book and Prologue that this is her life or something similar to that of what she has been through herself. There is a Level of Empathy in Books that People or at least I seem to feel and this Book is a very strong and touching story of a young girl and her Relatives, Surroundings, And Feelings and how they are effected and uncontrollable. It Raises up alot of Emotions and Feelings. I am not going to give away the book but it had so much more to it than the back of the cover reads. I read the back of it and thought that usually it wouldnt be my kind of book. Being because most authors that I have read seem to protray younger people and teenagers as Naive people who dont seem to care about much and just want to have a good time when that is mostly not the truth. Teenagers/Young Adults have feelings and thoughts as others with more years to them do, Not saying they are the same or even on the same level However, that is more of a individual person to person case and their understanding level. The Author doesnt seem to look down on people regardless of age as some authors seem to have mental catagories for age groups. So if you are a young reader do not be detoured at all. This is great for you and all age groups. And despite how old you are this book is Awesome. The Book is a Quick read and is only 162 Pages long and that goes by quickly, Trust Me. It almost needs a sequel but it is great for you to Imagine how everyone ends up in the end. She doesnt leave you hanging she tells what happens. She is not over explanatory and she is not Under-Explanatory so its a perfect medium and I think thats what makes it a page turner. However, closer to the end of the book she jumps around alot between days and months, But You can easily tell that it is days later or months later. It isnt a time piece really so dont be detoured by that either, But it deals with things over a time span that isnt outrageous so its easy to comprehend. Overall I would Truly Recommend this book to absolutely everyone and I will be reading more from this brilliant author in the future. I hope she comes out with some more great books such as this and more. And I would Love to Thank the Author for being Brave enough to come out with such a Powerful Story.
This is truly a good read! Put it down once and couldn't wait to get back to it. Wish I had a book like this every night! It is well-written, it flows, and the story is touching! This book will bring out the compassion within every reader, young and old, but I think it should be required reading for young people, who will learn they aren't the only ones with issues, and there is hope!
