I'm rounding this one up to a 4.

I'm not sure why I feel like it's better than the others, all I know is that I'd definitely re-read this one anytime.

I just overall really enjoyed it, maybe it's because Amber and Simon are forced to finally speak of their feelings, I'm curious to see if anything's changed or not in the next book.

(spoilers below possibly, I don't feel like it's spoilery enough to hide in a spoiler)

Now, as I've said in past reviews of this series, I wasn't sure about if Joseph had genuine feelings for Amber and I think he did, I think I was just bias as an outside reader knowing it wasn't endgame, so it didn't let me feel like anything would actually work with Joseph. I'm glad they got to talk and end it amicably.

And things are ramping up with Colm, that ending...

Already started the next book lol I'm flying through these, but Blake Pierce is such a cozy author for me to read, it's hard to pause, especially when I want to know what happens next in side story-lines.

Absent Sanity - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Blake Pierce's An Amber Young Mystery series, Book 6, is the searing crime-thriller, Absent Sanity, in which FBI Agents Amber and Simon Mallory have to investigate one gruesome killing after another.
Each involves a twisted, deadly puzzle which makes the reader wonder if they're specifically aimed at Amber - who was formerly a newspaper puzzle-creator/editor - and what links each tormented pair in death.
With false leads, a pantheon of suspects and the clock counting down before the next slaying, read Absent Sanity to see if you got it right!

Found this book to be lacking new ideas. Had a saw like puzzle to it. Two partners finally coming clean about their feelings for eachother also not new. Killer was kinda meh. Disappointing read for me. One more book to go in this series. Main story is what's keeping me reading.

I really like the way the characters in this series have been developed from book to book. While the plots are somewhat outrageous, it's done in a fun way and the length of the books ensures they don't become a 'been there, read that' story. Fun read!

Mediocre at best. The best part was actually when the MFC got dumped by her bland reporter boyfriend who seemed more concerned for his safety than Amber. I hope the last book redeems the series.
