Crosby evaluates the progress of his original quality management principles and includes his maturity grid for companies to use in assessing the successes and failures in their own organizations
Quality is Free was the basic premise for the company I was working with at the time's entire PONC (Price of Non-Conformance) and a lot of its Quality performance direction in its main Training Program for construction personnel. This book was an update to that book which I used to enhance and refresh myself on the concepts as I entered entry level management with the company and had to start training others in our construction departments. Solid book with solid concepts that stand the test of time.
The author has a direct, humorous writing style and I enjoyed the book. I just thought it was low in content. At least half the book is a story of the author's own career path. While interesting, I did walk away with many quality jewels from those portions. I assumed that quality is still free was everything in the book Quality is Free and more but I don't think so. I'm going to go back and read his first book. It appears to have more valid content.
