I Will Find You - a stunning psychological thriller that will grip you to the very last page.
Cole Baxter loves writing psychological suspense thrillers. It's all about that last reveal that he loves shocking readers with. He grew up in New York, where there crime was all around. He decided to turn that into something positive with his fiction. His stories will have you reading through the night--they are very addictive!

I will find you by Cole Baxter was very underwhelming & monotonous for me. The story of Maria started off well but there was really no character growth. All secrets were guessable and that took out most of the oomph for me. There was too much detail into mundane things. I realize some people appreciate descriptive scenes but was a tad too descriptive and detailed for me especially because they had no bearing on the story or plot. There are also encounters/lines with other characters that are bizarrely detailed. Like a detailed conversation with a vab driver & a shop owner. I kept going even with a waning interest because I hoped to see a plot twist that never came. This is no "psychological thriller with a killer twist" as stated on its cover. There was no twist & a simply a narration of a detailed sad story In the end all I got was dissapointed and dissatisfaction because I was hoping for more!
Thank you NetGalley, Inkubator books & Cole Baxter for this arc.
I like reading about smart women, not stupid ones. And in this case, the whole book is rather stupid, with a total of one "normal" leading character, and a plot that could have been much more. The story is told with a lot of boring details, and the entertainment value is close to zero.
Worst book ever. If I heard the main character being called baby one more time I was gonna lose it. No turning point just a bunch of nonsense that lead to a crappy ending.
This will be the third book from this author that I've read and I have to say that this one is my favourite - although I have loved them all.
Maria has had a troubled past but has now settled with her loving husband, Cooper. The only problem is that now her past is coming back to haunt her in ways she could never imagine.
I find that Baxter's main characters always seem to be really interesting in terms of how we relate to them. In the other books I really disliked our MC but here I definitely spent most of the time loving Maria... especially the parts when she and Cooper were together and I couldn't help rooting for them throughout. However, there were definite times when I could see the flaws in Maria - but I had to remind myself that maybe her past contributed to this.
I loved the contrast between Cooper and Jackson - a real starkness to them that really gave me a chilling and creepy vibe when he was around.
As ever, the plot twists and turns and I absolutely love being surprised by this, especially when I feel as though I know how things will turn out. The difference here was that the ending really does leave you with questions and it took a while after finishing before I got rid of the tension that had built up.
The writing style, I've said before, is totally immersive which makes for the perfect psychological thriller. It's fast-paced and full of tension which grips you from the start and has me unable to put the book down - I just have to get to the end
Another great read which I flew through in a couple of sittings. I will definitely be reading more of Cole's books in the future!
The plot initially caught my attention due to its resemblance to the movie "Gone Girl," which naturally sparked my curiosity and raised my expectations. However, as I delved deeper into the book, I realized that while there were similarities in the plot, it wasn't anything like the movie, much to my regret.
The first few chapters drew me in with their gripping narrative, but the subsequent repetition of Maria's praise for her husband, Cooper, became tiresome, making it a struggle to continue reading. Despite wanting to empathize and root for Maria considering the hardships she faced—abuse, trauma, and loss—her character became more irritating than someone to rally behind.
Around the 40% mark, I seriously considered not finishing the book, but I pushed myself forward, holding onto the hope of a killer twist, as the cover had suggested. Unfortunately, the promised twist didn't materialize, leaving me disappointed. It wasn't until I reached about 60% of the book that some significant events finally unfolded, allowing me to continue and eventually finish the story.
While this reading experience left me concerned about entering a reading slump, I won't let it discourage me from exploring other works by the same author. I've come across many positive reviews of their other books, and I'm hopeful that this one might simply not have been the right fit for me.
Thanks to Netgalley, Inkubator Books, and Cole Baxter for the opportunity to read and review this arc.
“Maria loves her husband. She really, really doesn’t want to kill him”
First of all, the cover, title, and first line of the description reeled me in! I enjoy paperbacks most of the time and this book got me back into ebooks, so that says that! While this book had a great start, I feel it slowed down during the body of the book and picked up towards the end again. If you like a slow burn, this book is for you. I am one that enjoys it when a book keeps me on the edge of my seat. Aside from that, the overall story was great aside from how much the main character gushes over her new partner.
Trigger warning(s): sexual assault, domestic violence, mental/physical abuse, miscarriage, ending another life
This could have been good….it had all the makings for it, but the repetition (we get it, Maria loved Cooper) and mundane details were boring. There was no meat to this book. If Cooper called Maria baby one more time or ‘chuckled’, I would’ve barfed. Thesaurus, maybe? This was a disappointing disaster of a book.
Be prepared to check under your bed for weeks to come after concluding, I Will Find You.
I am ashamed to admit this is my first book by Baxter, but rest assured, as soon as I concluded I Will Find You, I ran over to Amazon to download his back list. Up next, Prime Suspect.
This book is a whole lot more than just a thriller, it also had a bit of romance tweaked with a side cart of horror. If you think romance, horror, and suspense, won't work, check in with me after you finish this one!
As soon as I read the first chapter, I knew I was in for the long haul. This is a book that is impossible to put down once you start yet a quick and easy read, so you won't want to!
As you can see, I have become a fan of Baxter, and I believe you will be too! Check out this teaser:

I Will Find You - a stunning psychological thriller that will grip you to the very last page.
I Will Find You by Cole Baxter is the story of Maria, a woman who has found happiness after suffering terrible abuse at the hands of her now dead former husband. Maria seems, on the surface, to deserve her hapoy ending after all that she has endured, but there is always a niggling suspicion that she is not being fully truthful with her adoring husband, Cooper.
While I did enjoy this read, I felt that the author included far too many superfluous details of the mundane, particularly with regard to food and meal preparation. That being said, I was sufficiently engaged to power through to the end in search of resolution. On that note, while the story does sustain a level of tension throughout, I did not feel that it was as fully fleshed out as it might have been. I was left with many unanswered questions, although perhaps that was the intention of the author all along. You decide. 3.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC.
If you are looking for a twisty, fast paced book, this is NOT it. I normally like this author's books but this was definitely my least favorite of his. It was very underwhelming and had so many mundane details! I can't tell you how many times Maria did the dishes or took a shower. It felt like every chapter! Add in the fact the Cooper called her Baby almost every sentence. It got very annoying. The story overall was slow and boring and was missing the twist promised on the cover. There was no twist at all. Would not recommend.

Review This is the second book by Cole Baxter I have read. I Will Find You focused on Maria who wants to leave her troubled past behind her. Newly married to wealthy architect Cooper she is finally enjoying the perfect life. But things weren’t always easy for her. Years ago, desperate to escape an abusive marriage Maria did some very bad things and then fled with the man who helped her, Jackson Drake, it was only then she realised he was more dangerous than her husband had ever been. Fast forward to the present and Jackson has finally tracked Maria down and he plans to blackmail her with her darkest secret to do what he says. And Jackson says her new husband must die. Maria knows Jackson is ruthless and he has the power to destroy her world. If she is to survive and save herself she must do things she never imagined in her wildest dreams. How far will she go to save her perfect life? And who will pay the ultimate price in the end?
I have to say the plot itself was tense, gripping and well paced. It was also very dark in places and potentially triggering to some, particularly with the loss of a unborn baby and domestic violence. I was invested, however, in the story and did enjoy finding out how it would all end. The characters generally were well rounded and fleshed out but while I found Amber Dennis in The Neighbours Next Door a bit too much of a witch with a b and that I honestly didn’t really care that her world was being pulled apart for me Maria was also a tad annoying at times. Indeed she had gone through so much but she seemed to jump from being too whiney to plotting to get rid of people, back to being whiney and it just made it difficult to sympathise with her. I think for me this was reinforced at the end, no spoilers though really, where she still continued to keep certain secrets from the man, Cooper, she continuously praises for being so good, understanding and kind. It just made me want to shake her up a little. I appreciate she had gone through trauma but at certain points she was just a bit too unbelievable as a character to me. That said it didn’t spoil the enjoyment of the novel overall it just meant I didn’t sympathise with her in the way I think I should.
The storyline itself though was gripping enough to keep me hooked. I did enjoy Jackson and how unhinged he seemingly was and there were a few twists and turns along the way I liked. I also loved Cooper, even if he was a little naïve at times. He most definitely was the kind of person Maria did deserve in the end. If you enjoy a good psychological thriller you will no doubt enjoy this one. I most certain did it was just Maria I had a few issues with but I think that is more my personal taste and choice than anything else. A solid four stars.
Maria was forced to marry an older man named Glenn by her father Glenn sexually assaulted her and got her pregnant and when she told her parents she was forced to marry the ogre. He was not only older than her but very abusive so Maria made a deal with the devil and the devil‘s name was Jackson Blake after Glenn passed away due to a car accident she took everything she had and left the only place she had ever known and moved to California this is where she was living and working as a barista when she met Cooper. Her new husband is a dream come true he holds her when she has nightmares she’s a stay at home wife and he lets her buy whatever she wants and they love to take walks together and just spend time being in each other’s company so on the night they’re honoring Cooper for the beautiful hotel he’s built Maria is amazed to see Jackson Blake not only talking to her husband but soon walking over asking her if she’s ready to do it again? What did Maria do and why does Jackson seem to have her under his thumb. He is just as abusive as her former husband and she is deathly frightened of him the last thing she wants to do is lose her husband Cooper but what choice does she have? This was an awesome awesome book! Maria at first seems like a spineless sponge but will eventually grow a backbone that is hard enough to break steel. I thought Cooper was such a sweetheart and Jackson was such a jerk and didn’t know how she thought he was a better option than her husband Glenn but I guess it was either or and he was probably just something new at the time. It is amazing the things we will rationalize to be OK with nothing seems to be OK. What a great book a definite must read for thriller fans they do have a couple of eye Rolling moments but not so many it’s distracting from the great plot. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As seems to be a theme in books I’ve chosen lately, we have an utterly unlikable and insufferable protagonist. This is a remarkably disappointing read.
This woman who professes to love her husband is actively interacting with a man who wants to murder him, lying incessantly, doing horrible things behind his back when the obvious answer was to approach the husband immediately and find a way out together. Her failure to do so proving herself unworthy of this marriage and generally a pretty irredeemable human. Also, the mayor of San Francisco knows Jackson how? Of all possible people to make introductions between Jackson and Cooper, the author went with the mayor? This is a bizarre choice.
Honestly, this story is draining.
It reads as the male authors fetishization of abused woman/abusive relationships.
The depictions of the abusive marriage and relationship are awful and unnecessary, I wish there had been a trigger warning. The author is exceedingly fond of the words, “slut,” “whore,” and “witch,” and their overuse is gross and unnecessary. (Proposed drinking game: take a shot every time you read one of those 3 words, plus “pensive,” and “jezebel.” You’ll black out.) Dozens and dozens of filler pages of this crap. Also to anyone who has lost a child or pregnancy, proceed with caution, there’s graphic scenes of a man murdering his own child whilst in the midst of brutally assaulting his wife. This whole thing is peak r/menwritingwomen. The portrayal of the woman as a vapid, weak idiot so easily fooled by anyone “nice.” It’s just awful. Pass on this one if you have any standards of writing whatsoever. The ending is ridiculous, and what’s the message here? Lie lie lie through your teeth and you’ll bag a rich spouse dumb enough to believe you trustworthy? Sigh.
Also, this is a minor annoyance kind of thing, but the lack of knowledge or research about SF was annoying and distracting to me.

Thank you for netgalley and inkubator books for an e-arc for review consideration. All views are my own.
There is a lot to digest in the opening chapter and it feels a little full on, but it does set the scene for plenty of future action and drama. We are also confronted with some quote graphic images within the opening few pages and one not for the faint of heart.
The writing style isn’t my favourite and I found it a little over detailed in places, and stilted especially in some of the conversational pieces where it just didn’t feel natural. There is also a lot of repetition in terms of the narrative and dialogue that becomes fairly predictable and boring at times.
As a main character, Maria has obviously had a lot of trauma in her life but she still doesn’t come across as particularly likeable, and I found her whiney and spoilt. Both her and Cooper come across as high maintenance and obnoxious, constantly going on about money and status and looks, and it is very difficult to warm to either of them at all. For example, when they’re apparently on the run from a stalker, their priority is finding a designer shop and buying cute pyjamas and swimwear?! And when they’re backyard is set aflame her first thought is whether the pool can still go in? As a couple they are also incredibly nauseating and cheesy which makes them even more unlikeable.
Overall the narrative is a little underwhelming. The premise is strong and has potential, but sadly the execution just feels lacking, and I found myself bored and skimming pages rather than enthralled and not being able to put the book down. I would say this is due to the story being rather far fetched, and more importantly, really unlikeable characters I just didn’t get on board with. Sadly not for me.
I am back with another book by Cole and I have to say, this one is quite brutal from the rest!!
A dark and twisted storyline that kept me on tenterhooks throughout as I was expecting so many twists and turns and they weren’t always the ones I expected.
I really enjoyed this one by Cole. It was hard reading it sometimes, the storyline is never one to enjoy and some of it was damn heart-breaking but the resilience of Maria was inspiring, despite being a bit whiny sometimes. Despite the strength of Maria, her mother was the complete opposite and caved with any man she spoke to. She had definitely been brought up to speak the truth when spoken to. She didn’t defy any man despite lumbering her daughter in so much danger!!
I do find it fascinating how he writes his women, as either complete bitches or having to be saved by a Man, or just so downtrodden. Here you have a strong woman who loves her man and will do anything to save him. How far? Well, you have to read it to find out.
I feel like this was an intense rally drive experience, feeling every bump and being completely battered about. It was hard, dark, so dark, twisty and so good! I have to say I love Coop and wish I could meet him 😜 he is the dream of a man, however, naive he might be.
This book worked for me and I was sucked along for the ride.
I read this book with anticipation that something would happen that would grab my attention. Unfortunately, that never happened. I think it had the potential and the author’s style could be captivating but he just didn’t get there. Nothing really happened more than what was in the synopsis. Maria whines to herself and finally her husband throughout the entire book about the situation she is in but never does anything about it. It has flashbacks of Groundhog Day because it was just the same thing over and over again. Maria has a nightmare, Cooper consoles her, she frets about her situation and does nothing about it. Repeat, repeat, repeat. A word to the author… this scene is good one time then move on and create different scenes. This could be a good book with more work.
I received an ARC from Incubator Books through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating on the book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.
"Maria loves her husband. She really, really, doesn't want to kill him"
The first few chapters of this book drew me in and I was hooked. However, I quickly became annoyed with Maria and her husband, Cooper. I honestly felt like the praise was overwhelming - I mean I get loving your spouse, but this was far to much to read over and over aaaand over again. The repetition had me dying inside. I almost DNF'd this book around 40%, I just felt it slowed significantly and I was getting very bored reading. The cover suggested a "killer twist" so I kept reading thinking something absolutely shocking was going to happen... and I was severely disappointed. Around 85% the book picks back up and I finished but again, there was no real twist. Gave me cheesy lifetime movie vibes.
TW: sexual assault, domestic violence, mental and physical abuse, miscarriage, ending another life.
I was truly disappointed in this latest book by Cole Baxter-I have enjoyed many of his other books and was surprised that this one just seemed to fall flat. The main characters Marie and Cooper were boring to read about. If she gushed about wonderful Coop one more time I was going to lose my mind. It just didn’t flow well and the storyline was just not there. . A lot of the dialogue was very repetitive especially how wonderful Cooper was and how lucky Marie was to have him. I honestly couldn’t wait to get to the end which was also blah. Hoping that his next book is better! Thank you to NetGalley, Inkubator Books and Cole Baxter for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have enjoyed everyone of the books I have read by this author and this is no exception. This one was a lot darker than usual, but, you know me, I was totally there for it.
It is well written with a compelling and gritty storyline and well developed characters with some that I loved and others that I loved to hate. There were some parts that were hard to read sometimes but that didn't take away the enjoyment I felt when I read it, however it's important to know that there were times I felt so uncomfortable while reading, but, this is what makes it so gritty.
The book is full of mystery, suspense and brutal twists. It had me hooked right from the very start and I couldnt put it down. I really enjoyed it
"They had me in the first half, not gonna lie" must have been written about I WIll Find You. I was really entertained in the beginning. Girl lives a tragic life, to find her happiness, and then a stalker appears to ruin it. Sounds promising. But, it ended up being extremely repetitive and disappointing for me. There was also zero character development, and everyone was rather whiney or over the top annoying. I was ready for a shock at the end that never came, which further fueled the disappointment.
I Will Find You by Cole Baxter. Maria loves her husband. She really, really doesn’t want to kill him. Maria just wants to put her troubled past behind her. Newly married to wealthy architect Cooper, she’s finally enjoying the perfect life. Things weren’t always easy for Maria. Years ago, desperate to escape an abusive marriage, she did some very bad things. And then had to flee the man who helped her, Jackson Drake, when she realized he was even more dangerous than her husband. Omg Cole has done it again. I sailed through this book. Gripping and twisty and dark. Best one yet. 5*.
Wow!!!! This book was fast paced and tense from start to finish. Maria has had some unfortunate luck with men in the past, but she’s made a new life for herself and she’s finally happy. A fresh start or so she thinks. It’s like watching a high speed chase and you know it’s going to be an absolute trainwreck, but you can’t look away. I picked this book up in every minute of my spare time. I kept saying, just one more chapter. A great thriller and I highly recommend!!!!
This one started out strong but fell flat toward the end. I felt there was a lot of repetition that made the story stagnant. The ending was also very predictable. I was hoping for a shocking twist and it just wasn't there.

Thank you, NetGalley for a free ebook copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I tried so hard to get into this book but just could not. I ended up deciding not to finish it. I hope that others will still give it a try. What one reader doesn't get into, the next very well may get lost in the pages.
My first time with this author didn't disappoint! Very few books can make me feel on edge these days because they're all the same. This one definitely had the magic! Strong start, but fell a little flat at the end for me. It's worth a read during spooky season, though.
OMG……This book is so flipping good! If domestic abuse triggers you, you may not want to read this as the abuse is pretty graphic. Real, but graphic. Such an excellent book.
Here is my review for I Will Find You by Cole Baxter
This is an absolutely brilliant psychological thriller read that I really enjoyed reading and I got so hooked that I just couldn’t put the book down as I needed to know what happened next. It’s such an intriguing read and Maria had been beaten and abused by her husband Glen, then by Jackson Drake. She then learnt her lesson and moved to San Francisco where she worked as a barista. She met Cooper Grace and they dated, he treated her really well and they eventually got married. He knows some of her background and tries to calm her nightmares which occur often. Unfortunately, Jackson Drake has found her again and is threatening her about Cooper. Will Maria be able to beat Jackson and save Cooper or will Jackson win? This story has been superbly written and extremely well plotted. The character of Maria was well thought out and brilliantly written as were the other characters. The synopsis drew me to read this story and I wasn’t disappointed. I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough to read this story. I like this author’s writing style and it makes for an easy read. It was a quick read. I like reading this author’s books which always have good plots in them and I’m looking forward to the next book he writes.

I Will Find You – Cole Baxter (Psychological Thriller Box Set II)
If you like emotion pact, slow burn thrillers, I Will Find You by Cole Baxter definitely needs to be added to you list. Maria has escaped an abusive relationship and is finally in a safe, loving marriage with Cooper, who’s everything she ever hoped for. But peace is short-lived when her past resurfaces in the form of Jackson Drake—the man who once helped her break free. Now, he’s back and hell bent on having Maria pay for leaving him.
Will Maria be able to have her new found life full of love or will her past be her demise?
OMG, this book was a slow burn but totally worth it. Emotions fly high in this book, especially with the way Cole Baxter writes. You feel every emotion the characters are feeling and it makes you feel as if you are experiencing the situation too. I will say this book is not for the fait of heart, it does heavily emphasize the impact and struggles women who are in abusive relationships go through. It shows how you take all the bad that happens to you and change it to be a stronger version of yourself. The storyline was different but captures your interest. I only wish the ending was not so rushed. I would have liked to see if Maria and her mothers relationship improved and if they understood each other better. All in all a very good book.
Highly recommended for fans of slow-burn emotional psychological thrillers.
Thank you, NetGalley, the author and the publisher, for the advance copy for an honest review.
