This book is misnamed which is why I graded it down. A book called 'Sewing Solutions' implies to me that it is geared for people that are already sewing. This book has zero info for an experienced (and savvy) sewist.

It is however a great resource for an absolute beginner and if it was titled for that I would give it a higher rating.

The title isn't quite accurate. More than tips and tricks, this is essentially a home economics course in a book, everything from buying a sewing machine or serger to cutting out patterns or making a muslin. Different types of trims, how to put in zippers or bias edging, how to set a sleeve or hem a skirt. This is everything my mom taught me and more. I'd definitely use this as a reference in future.

This book is for beginners. It has nice, informative pictures and good explanations. It's very basic and covers all topics for newbie-sewist: sewing machine, tools and notions, patterns and how to use them, basic fitting.. How to follow pattern and make a whole garment.
I liked the fabrics part - big diagrams of the different kinds of fibers and how to recognise them.

This was a great informative book on sewing and full of great information and tips for those new to sewing and those who need a refresher on how to sew. Clearly written this book is a must for the beginner or intermediate seamstress. Thumbs up for this book.

The book was okay a bit basic to be used by the savvy sewist. It did have a good coverage of all the basic topics and a few tips that I did pick up while reading but I preferred The Sewing Answer Book to this volume.

I think the book is good for people who already know the basics of sewing. I am almost a complete beginner though, so when the author mentioned something as if I should already know it, I didn't know it, which was confusing.

Supposed to be a reference book, but I found it entertaining enough to read straight through, and I learned a lot.
