This novel has a complex cast of characters, which encourages reading the entire series, especially to understand the history and culture of Holly Well Springs, but, at the same time, this CAN be read as a standalone because Vivian Porter provides enough details for readers to completely appreciate the plot. And what a thrilling tale it is, fraught with danger, intrigue, plain old fashion hatred, and, of, course, true love.
