If it is one thing Constance Hawkins is good at, it’s working hard. Her dad was in a car accident that paralyzed his legs, and her sister Charley is in her sophomore year of college. With her mother not in the picture, Constance started working to help her family at a young age. Now, at twenty-six years old, she has a good job working at a bank. Until her awful boss, Sandy, decides to let Constance go because of cutbacks. With her own personal responsibilities and her family’s, it wasn’t the best time to be without a job, but it was out of her hands. While on the hunt, a woman named Madelyn approaches Constance about possibly working at Yoshida Enterprise. A gigantic corporation that owns just about everything in Michigan and beyond. Constance is intrigued but she has no idea that a simple yes will turn her life in all different directions. Lee Yoshida is the future CEO mogul of Yoshida Enterprise. It’s his birth right as the eldest son, he was raised to embody their family business. His parent’s harsh and tuff love exterior has mad Lee into the stern, cold-hearted and closed off man that he is today. The world was in the palm of his hands, and it rotated the way he seemed fit. There was nothing too far from his reach, if he wanted it then it was his. Until he met Constance, the one person that didn’t bow down to him because of who he was. Charley Hawkins is Constance’s twenty-year-old sister. Her spirit is as bright as her love for dance. A dance major in college, Charley is living her best life with great friends and a good a good-looking boyfriend named Joshua. From the outside, she has it all but truthfully Charley wants her dancing career to pay off big time so she can help her family. Also, things with her boyfriend Joshua are sort of foggy. There are two women who are threatening their relationship. Joshua’s mother and his ex-girlfriend Amelia. Jackie Yoshida is mouthwatering, he’s twenty and a talented painter. Jackie speaks his mind and marches to the beat of his own drum. No matter who has a problem with his decisions including his controlling parents. They think being an artist is a waste of time, Jackie is supposed to be working at Yoshida Enterprise. All Jackie wants is to have his art grace the walls of the best museums and gallerias. He wants these things by working hard, not because of his last name. Unknown to him, he was about to meet his next muse when he came across Charley. Immediately, Jackie finds himself wanting her. But with her having a boyfriend and Jackie having Sanjay, a girl who has his parents’ approval. Getting Charley won’t be so easy. How desperate will Jackie’s parents get in control of his life? How will that affect his art and his new feelings for Charley? Can Charley remain faithful to her boyfriend Joshua or is Jackie too hard to resist? With Lee’s pride and Constance not caring if she crushes it. How will the two of them coexist working together? Which one of them will realize all the tension is an underline with desire and lust? Family obligations, secrets, cheating, pride and betrayal is just the start to the first installment to this three-part series.
I have much to say about this book. First, I found myself skipping through much of the book because it was just way to much detail. This read more like a soap opera. You not only got the meal but all the ingredients, how is was cooked, plated and eaten. I just felt like this was more drama than romance. Secondly, on that note, the four main characters were always having sex with someone other then the characters who this romance is about. We were literally 80% into this book and I was trying to figure out how this author would get even one of these couples together. Not even a kiss. Now you get to the end and want to have major drama that will end Constance and Lee’s new found love…
Although I really liked the story, there were a few things that needed better research. A greeneyed Japanese would be very rare. A few grammar checks were needed to clear some editing issues. But, overall, the story is good.
The story concept and breakdown of each character good but that's where it stops... this is beyond wordy and dragging it almost didn't get finished...ugh I was enjoy the genuineness of Con and her sister but everything and every one else...just whyyy I don't know if I will read part. The pace was slow and when took off the book ended
Billionaire’s Weakness is the saga to read!! This needs to be a TV series!! Multicultural love story, shocking twist, and a cliffhanger that will leave you weak and wanting more!
This book started off slow but picked up nicely. I almost dnf'd it bc of the first couple of chapters but once it got going it was all good. This is an interracial romance. I didn't know that going in. It's a little different bc the love interests are black women and Asian males. One of the black female leads also has an on and off again black bf. The BW/Asian man pairings kept throwing me off, esp the sex scenes. I had to actively check my biases at the door. I have no idea if Asian men have big 🍆. This is book 1 of a 3 part series. I'm very interested to see how race comes into play as these relationships heat up. In addition to race elements there are a lot of class elements that come into play. The black women are not rich but the Asian and black man are rich. This book ends with a cliffhanger.
LONG WINDED. My goodness. By the time I got to the end I realized the book was too long for the lack of plot twists, action and intrigue. The cliffhanger was the most interesting part of the story. Overall the book is good if you just need SOMETHING to read. I hope book 2 picks up the pace.
What the hell? What the helly? I’m def reading book two. I appreciated the authors attention to detail, at times I felt the descriptions of Constance were…creepy. Like we get it, she’s black and new to Yoshida but then I thought about how well each character was depicted being that the author is a woman of color.
New to me author and I am SOLD! This was a ride! I loved the characters: Lee, Constance, Charley, and Jackie. Also, talk about MESSY: Joshua is in a state of delusion from every angle, like a gnat he keeps popping up! Sanjay is a ‘special’ character living a double life. May I also say that ALL the parents are trash except for Constance and Charley’s dad. Lee’s dad is such a CRUEL man! So much has unfolded in book one and the cliffhanger left me sreaming.. I just know Lee did not play on Constance top like that!
I can’t believe she ended that book like that! I’m still trying to pick my jaw off the freaking floor. Talk about plot twist out of left field! The character development was excellent. You can feel every emotion radiating from the Yoshida brothers when it comes to dealing with their parents. Where is part 2 because I need answers! Phenomenal
This book is sooooo good. I stopped reading installments until they were done years ago but I just couldn’t wait in this one and Londyn did not disappoint. I need part 2 and 3 like yesterday. You will not be disappointed reading this book at all. I read it in one day. Kudos girl. You did that! And on your first solo published release!!! Great job!!!
I have to say I had stopped reading this at 30% but I went back and couldn't put it down. Baybee Mr. Yoshida didn't come to play with Ms. Hawkins. The love and passion they have for each other is out of this world.. and I want more. I'm so anxious to start part 2. You outdid yourself with this book Londyn!
I wanted to finish all 3 books before writing my review. After reading some of the reviews from book one, what I can say is the fact that it was not read as a full series is part of the reason for some of the negative around research.
With that being said….
Book 1: I can tell by the end it would have a lot of folks in an uproar. The book gave big problematic energy. With the focus on Black women from the POV of other races could be extremely controversial.
Book 2: helped connect the dots… it gave history and began to amplify the beauty of a black woman. Breaking the norms of what a person was taught to latch on and embrace someone not bc of their skin but bc of who they are as a person. This is when I fell in love with the MMCs! Although reading the pov of other can be hard I pushed through bc I liked where the book was going.
Book 3: was the epitome of getting their lick back! The amount of revenge, hurt and drama in this one kept me engaged! Now I didn’t like that (to be continued joke) IYKYK!
Overall I am giving this series a 4⭐️! I know many people can’t handle hearing negativity toward Black Women, I embraced this bc the harsh reality is this is how “others” see us!
As a woman who travels the world for a living I have seen the way folks look at me and judge me just because I am not what they are use to. I embrace the stares and whispers without getting offended because at the end of the day in some way I fascinate them. To see this young black woman in their world doing what they do and them not understanding how I got there speaks volumes!
Going into this read what I will say to my fellow readers is keep and open mind, read it all the way thru then come back with your review.
Ouuu la laaaaa! I always think that one closed door doesn't mean a damn thing other than a bigger one is about to open! Forbidden love is always dangerous territory! Joshua is a pig! His mama ain't shit and to be frank, neither is his father because he simply wont put his wife in her place! Of course, being among the wealthy has your mindset set up differently! Madlyn gave Constance a chance of a lifetime when all seemed to be going wrong in her world. Something tells me Madlyn is going to be a problem because I truly believe she either told Lee's parents or call his wife herself and told her about the affair. One thing about men, they will dig deep in your world while keeping most of their own hiding behind closed doors! Surely, there's an explanation because it wasn't mentioned that he was married, as to why he didn't bring it up after all that wining and dining with Constance! I'm glad Charley saw Joshua for who he is because he really was doing to much and at the very least being a supportive boyfriend. He let his mama do and say what she wanted without a care in the world. The minute he tried to get right, it wasn't enough for all the bad he already let happen in their relationship. No worries though, she is going to run to the very one he was fighting her for. Jackie to the rescue! Good read
This has already become a favorite for me, and there are still 2 parts!!! I did not know it was a 3 part series because I'm just now following the author on social media(not my first read by her), otherwise i would have waited closer to 3 being finished. I was a little disappointed, but I'd completed part 1, and it was FYE!! And how convenient for me that today just happens to be the day part 2 is released. I am so ready for Bruce's reign of terror to end, I feel so bad for those brothers. I empathize with the little boy in them that hurts...especially Lee. It makes sense now why he was telling Obi that he basically wanted to work his magic on her before she found out. I can't wait for someone to put Mrs.Beesley in her place like quick. I knew it was a set up when she invited him over, a woman like her will NEVER admit fault and truly mean it. Charley should have been moved on because it wasn't gonna get any better had they gotten married, she just would've felt stuck. This was truly a work of art. Everything went together perfectly, I had no questions or felt anything was left untouched.
This book was extremely detailed. I loved how you took your time with the love story. I loved how you had every ethnicity and culture under the son in the book. I would say not to go into as much detail about the meals, decor of rooms and repeat of conversations i.e. the voice mail Constance left Lee. No need for the verbatim recap. The scenes also made me feel like I was a part of the book. I connected to every character. Also, finally a book that isn't as vulgar as other authors I've read and everyone has a career and not a billionaire drug dealer saving the love of his life from the projects.
Oh, and I can't wait for the tea about Jackie and Lee, cause don't think the comments about green eyes and tanned skin went unnoticed. Either they are adopted or someone stepped out!
Lee + Contance Lee was so awkward and mean and rude, but Constance came & broke that man down. All love a woman who demands to be loved a certain way. That ending, though... I can't wait to see how that plays out.
Charlie + Josh + Jackie Josh was weak. His momma ran his life & his Dad let her. I wish his Dad took on more of a role in helping him be more assertive. Jackie is sprung. Charlie is trying to do the right thing, but my boy Josh is probably just pushing her right into Jackie's arms... where she wants to be anyway!
The black people stereotype... I'm still forming my opinion on this.
“Everything about you has turned my world upside down. Your voice, laugh, the way you dress, your body in different articles of clothing, the way you say my name. Your scent is locked in my nose. The spark you get when you’ve accomplished something, your smile, those lips, just every-damn-thing.” There was nowhere else for her to move. She had backed against the end of the dining room table. I placed my hand on the table with my eyes still on hers. At this point, I might as well tell her the truth.
The ending got me 👀👀. I know this man Lee ain't go no wife!!! Glad Charley found out about Joshua so she can get with my man Jackie. The editing and pacing are great; only one minor confusion. I was surprised by the small talk of racism in the book since I've never read it from this author, but otherwise, I enjoyed the book, and I can't wait until part 2. P.S. Their parents need to get hit by a 🚌, lol.
Wow, every now and again I come across a complete novel that just speaks to my soul. I love the characters. The women are strong, feisty, and smart. I like the diversity with the male characters. I needed a break from my hood love tales. Ms. Lenz has done a wonderful job developing each of the characters and their relationships with each other. I cannot wait to read part 2.
Whew, that ending. My heart ached for Constance in that moment, though I don't believe Lee is with this young lady. I love Jackie and can't wait to see where he and Charley go in their relationship. Can't wait for part 2. The brothers and sisters are something fierce. If only the brothers' dads could get a life. The sisters daddy, he don't play, so I can only imagine when they are all get together.
Ok 8% in and I'm already drowning in the empasies of "white" and "black". The author for some reason really likes to point out race (even to the point of random characters that join Constance in the lift?). Everything is "these white women" and "two older white men" or "I wanted some land from their white asses just for my ancestors!" Why the need for all of that, what exactly is it bringing to the story apart from the feeling of seperation and division?
This book had me hooked from the first chapters. The characters have so much depth, I listened to the audio of it. The book is also in multiple characters POV which i liked.; it gets you into the mind of the characters. The book read like a movie, and it really enjoyed it. The chemistry between the main mmc and fmc was amazing from their first meeting, and the book leaves you in a cliffhanger. This is the first book I've read by this author and will continue to read books by her.
I believe this is my first book by this author. I read a few other reviews and it appeared that the book was going to be good. Typically, I don’t like to read long books, especially when they’re in the romance genre. However, I did really enjoy the depth behind each character and development of the story. I must say I did not see the ending coming at all. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.
Well Londyn Lenz first off congratulations on dropping your first independent book and I just want to say baby you came with the heat!! Constance and Charley are in a tangled web dealing with those Yoshida brothers Lee and Jackie and that cliffhanger literally left me speechless and I can’t wait until part 2 drops I need an explanation ASAP!!!
This series is too lit OK. I need to find out what is going in with Lee and his wife OMG!!!! THUS SERIES IS SO different from the street lit( don't get me wrong, I love my street lit). It was so refreshing. I'm also ready for Charley to dtoo fronting on my man, Jackie. London Lenz will never disappoint. Im patiently😩 waiting for part 2
This book had me laughing so much at Jackie with his crazy self. Please tell me this chick is lying about being married to Lee cause babyyyyyy I may just jump through the next book and beat his tail. Once again you have outdone yourself and I can't wait for the next book so hurry up 😂💜💜
What a cliffhanger! It took me by surprise I didn't see that coming at all! Can't wait to see what happens when Lee find out what was told to Constance. I'm ready for part 2 and part 3 already. The drama that's about to unfold in the next book is going to be crazy! Londyn did her thing with these new characters!
This book was everything it was some hot explosive but in reality a lot of people to probably late to this book because interracial I like to see what the other one could do for them or I can't wait for part two I know it's so and then after I would like for free but I can't wait for the whole book of what too please don't make me wait too long.
