Shuntay Phillips is a seventeen year old senior dealing with the loss of her father from a car accident. At times; this made her depressed and feel as if she was alone, with no real family. The only other person she felt was really there for her besides her best friend and her family; was her dad's lawyer Bill Williams. For some reason he always went above and beyond for her.

Unforeseen events; has Shuntay leaning on her new boyfriend, but she's unsure of how much to tell him, not wanting to burden him with her problems.
While getting closer to her new boyfriend and prom around the corner she spends less time worrying about her mother. Finally something she can get excited about; an evening with her boyfriend and her best friend. A few days before prom unexpected events that Shuntay never saw coming occurs, landing her in the hospital critically injured. As Shuntay lie in her hospital bed everyone is questioning why would someone hurt her? When a secret no one was prepared for was revealed leaving everyone shocked, but the real question was how will Shuntay handle this life changing information?
Although this is a short story it was a good book, a page turner. Every children wants the love of their mother. This mother in this story was something else., will have you asking how could she treat her child like that The story line and the characters capture you from the beginning. I recommend this book to all
Initially, this book was on it's way to being a favorite. It dropped to about 3 stars because the whole love/relationship thing escalated quickly. Maybe I missed a lapse in time but it seemed like it was only days...2 weeks at the most. What dropped the book down to 2 stars was the ending when it was revealed why Mary hated Tay. The story behind it was sooooo unrealistic. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot during the explanation. I am starting part 2 right away only because up until then, it was a pretty good book.
Wow, this left me with my mouth wide open n then it ended I know I will enjoy the sequels especially if they are anything like #1, just need a better proofreader to catch the typos, too many errors (not good).
Boy oh boy Shauntay's mom Mary was a piece of work, the things she said and did to Tay was straight child abuse. I wish Shauntay left when she turned 18 instead of trying to build a relationship with the woman who is supposed to be her mother. Can't wait to start book 2
This book kept me interested but the number of grammatical errors was extremely distracting. It was hard not to notice that "tears running down my face" was on almost every page and sometimes twice on the same page. That should have probably been the title. Not once did anyone "cry!" Very elementary writing. Don't think I'll read this author again.
Superb writing skills!! Wow, Sha Cole wrote an incredible page turner. I was able to read this in one sitting with tears in my eyes and steam coming out of my ears! Mind-blowing, captivating, and beautifully executed. Look forward to seeing this highly recognized.
WOW,,,,I initially thought my real response to this book was going to be that it was a slow but steady and easy read. Then all of a sudden I began realizing the plot was turning and I wasn't turning with it!!! The story line changed as did the pace and the characters I thought I had figured out weren't who I thought they were at all. Then much to my surprise the next page was for the review. I even flipped back twice to be sure I had reached 100%, I had and it ended. Excellent read, very good character development, and a cliffhanger that now has to be completed. How can I not purchased the sequel? What a clever move on Ms. Cole's part? I like her.
Nothing that poor child did, that she deserved. Mary I'd cold hearted, why would she do a thing like that. Jealousy is a beast. I guess not having the life is what made her the way she is. That hospital scene is juicy...Who is that lady, I'd her twin still alive, seems so to me. Coke on Sha Cole let me knew what's up with part two I Neff to knew who that woman is and for shuntay to wake up. Excellent read!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. it captured me from the beginning and now I'm invested until the end. Mary is sneaky and all of her skeletons are falling from the closet.I see where her and her friend were fake doctors, but don't let my mind get to going cause I see it unfolding. go ahead get this book, awesome read...
Tay was very loved by her father James. It was sad that he passed away the way he did & he really seemed to know he wasn't going to make it. I'm glad left everything to his daughter. Mary is just plan crazy.. How can a woman be so jealous of her daughter?
I would read this book again, excellent!! kept me in there and left me wanting more, ordered part two so fast. Enjoyed this book so much and will keep reading.
I kept trying to put this book down thinking that I certainly didn't wish to read another story of abuse; but the suspense kept me turning pages and wow! The ultimate cliff hanger emerged.
I chose this rating because the book was a good read but started to become predictable as the book went in. There were twist and turns. What I didn't like about the book was the abrupt ending. This made it seem like more of a excerpt than a novel.
I had this book on my kindle for over a year and didn't know it. This was really a great book. Everyone wants their mother's love and Tay didn't have that. I hate, I didn't read this before now. Now on to books 2,3,&4.
This book has to be one of my favs!! This is a sad but powerful story. I hope that there its a part 2 sho I can get the full story.. This is a must read
This book was so emotional that I wanted to jump in the pages and beat the black and white off of Mary. If you want to read a book that will have you crying then Her Mothers Love is the book.
I honestly don't understand that mother could so that to her own child I feel bad but it was a good book it was too short but I'm interested to reading the second and third book
