Wales is a nation with a unique culture and the oldest language in Britain. This book brings its complex history to vivid life, from the violent struggles for sovereignty in the 18th and 19th centuries to the rise of the labor and nationalist movements in the 20th century.

I very much enjoyed this short and fast-paced introduction to Welsh history. There's an engaging graphic style that on the whole manages to be informative and avoids dumbing down. Clearly written with a left-leaning and pro-independence bias, but that's no bad thing as long as you're aware of it. It is by necessity very brief about certain major events and Fallow's decisions about what to include will not please everyone (I was disappointed there was not more on the Treachery of the Blue Books but pleased that there was a bit about the nonviolent direct action against the Penyberth bombing school in 1936). A good short read.
