I finished they both die at the end in 6 days which is really fast for me. I can’t stress how much I love this book its what got me into reading. I feel as though so many people dislike this book but I just feel like it’s target audience is more on the teen side ( like me ). The last section of the book called “ the end “ was the greatest experience. Rufus and Mateo are the best together. I highly recommend this because of the thrill , especially at the end. Everything builds up and pieces together and although they die you feel happy because they had a great day full of love , adventure and suspense. Adam Silvera is such a good writer and the chapters are not too long so entices you more. I’ve read other reviews saying it has no writing techniques and was like a teenager wrote it but the characters are teens so it makes it feel even more authentic and as though the characters wrote it themselves. It gives out a good message to live life to the fullest cause you never know when it will end. It was never boring and I wish I could read it for the first time again.

I’ve also read History is all you left me and it proves again how good of a writer he is. Again I read this quite quickly and again I enjoyed every moment of it. I never wanted to put these two books down. Just like the other book everything starts piecing together. The bond created between all the characters is amazing. Once again I wish I could read it for the first time again.

Overall Adam Silvera is amazing and I can’t wait to read all his other books especially the first to die at the end.

The concept was good but this feels like a 14 year old wrote it… if i turned this in to my english teachers they would whoop my ass for not using any writing techniques, sorry it’s just kinda bland 😘😘

I liked They Both Die At The End. Persevere, readers, because it gets more interesting. Once Mateo and Rufus are finally put together, you become invested in their characters. And the ending is sad but in a good way. You’ve been expecting it ever since you read the title but also praying it wasn’t true all throughout reading it.

My. Favourite. Book.
Wow.
I decided to read some of the reviews beforehand and some were disappointed by the fact that there were no writing techniques to the story and they felt as though it was ‘written by a 14 year old’. This is what makes the story 10x better! The boys are teenagers not enlist teachers. The fact that the author chose to write the book as if the teenagers wrote it themselves is what makes the book one of a kind.
I never cry at books and this brought me very close with the ending…

in history is all you left me: i found the continuous past-and-present narrative thing far too repetitive and irritating to the story, and not in a tension building way, and it felt like shoehorning a lot of themes into one book unnecessarily.

in they both die at the end: what the hell is the death-cast system?? literally never properly explained, the character's narration is very irritating and the whole romance is quite forced in. i understand it's hard to build tension when you are told very plainly in the title how it ends, and i think in theory this idea of playing on a readers expectation of a book (in this case, reading to find out what happens) could have been so interesting, but just wasn't in my opinion.
