Double Agents

Rate this book
DOUBLE AGENTS is the newest explosive spy thriller from #1 Amazon’s Bestselling Writer, Ethan Jones, and the fourth novel in his popular Justin Hall series.

The CIA learns that a powerful Chechen terrorist group is plotting a major attack on US soil just as the same group assassinates Russia’s Minister of Defense in Moscow. The CIA and the FSB, Russia’s internal security service, deeply distrust each other, crippling any CIA efforts to unravel this plot.

Justin Hall and his partner, Carrie O’Conner—two of the Canadian Intelligence Service best operatives—are dispatched to Moscow to secure the FSB’s intelligence, which will allow them to discover the plotters. But an FSB spy and a CIA double agent are dead set against this mission.

Justin and Carrie find themselves on the run on treacherous Moscow grounds and are forced to form a shifty alliance with rogue operatives. As loyalties change in the blink of an eye, Justin and Carrie hunt down Chechen militants in their stronghold in Dagestan, to uncover the truth, and to stop the terrorist attack in the US.

This cutting-edge thriller is the hottest page-turner of the winter. Fans of David Baldacci, Vince Flynn, and Brad Thor will love this tensely plotted novel.

Carrie and Justin are after terrorists who have a plan of destruction in the United States. They go to Russia to see if they can work together to get all the intel from them and give them what they have on the threat to Russia. Of course the Russian minister has his own agenda which doesn't include cooperation with Canada or America. Things go bad in Russia, but they are able to get intl on where the attack in the US is to go down. Lot of action and suspense that keep you reading and not wanting to put the book down to see what happens next. If you enjoy great spy and spooks this is a must read.

Double Agents - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Ethan Jones' Justin Hall is the MC in Book 4, Double Agents. Right from the very start, the action is right up close and personal, as we see a terrorist's betrayal of orders, that ends three lives - including the shooter's in a breathtaking act of defiance.
Meanwhile Justin, Carrie O'Connor and another Agent head to Russia, for an FSB intel swap, that's a deadly trap, leaving Justin and Carrie imprisoned and Becca dead.
Although the pair escape, they have many battles to survive, (though both are injured) and betrayals to overcome, before they can contact US and CIS to prevent a terrorist plot taking place on US soil.
Can they do it?
To find out, get your copy of Double Agents by Ethan Jones as soon as possible - you'll be shaken (and maybe stirred), as you thrill to this riveting spy action-thriller and long for Justin and Carrie's next exciting adventure!

Double Agents (Justin Hall #4) by Ethan Jones is the fourth in the series but as with all his books, they can be read as a stand alone. In this book, Justin and Carrie are dealing with Russians as well as terrorist. Not a good combo. Lots of action, adventure, suspense, fights, twists, and intrigue. Love these books, keeps you on the edge of your...tablet. Jones writes as if he has been there, done that and makes you feel like you are there and doing that! Ugh! So up close and personal the way he makes it feel. I swear I felt a bullet whisk by... Plot is awesome and unpredictable and characters are complex and the regulars stay true to their nature. Love that about the books too. I received this book for a honest review but it in no way effects my rating or review, it is just darn good.

Justin Hall and partner Carrie O’Connor, CIS agents are sent to Russia along with a US CIA agent to try to obtain intelligence from Russia’s FSB secret service regarding a planned Chechen attack on US soil.  However, FSB officials have their own agenda and double agents put the three western operatives’ lives in jeopardy, so they are forced to find their own alliances, never quite knowing exactly who to trust.  Can they survive to get enough information to prevent the attack?  Mr. Jones tells a great story – fast-paced, strong characters, details so vivid you’re seeing them as if you are right there with the characters.  The language is clean, no sex scenes and no focus on blood and guts – just pure enjoyment!   Each book is stand-alone, so no cliff hangers.

Double Agents (Justin Hall #4) is, in every sense of the word, a thriller set in varying locations around the globe. With each book he writes, Ethan Jones continues to polish his craft, with this book being better written & more satisfying than were the first three in this series. This book seems longer than his first books but steadily builds to a climax. The interesting twist is that the main characters are Canadian although that is not as apparent in this book as in his earlier books. A very good read I look forward Jones' next novel.

I love reading Ethan Jones political espionage thrillers. They never disappoint me. Justin and Carrie are great heroes that are strong characters that continue to develop throughout the series. I think they are great examples of the kind of people you can find in Canada. The story itself is one you can't put down once you start reading it. I liked how they respond with courage and strength every time they are sent to fix a political nightmares against the odds.

Double Agent by Ethan Jones
In this book we find Justin and Carrie up to their regular regime of bringing peace to the world.
What I love about this one is when she is taken and she is able to get rid of the two men who had her handcuffed, but with one hand free. They surely didn't know what she could do with one hand.
She is able to overcome them and go find Justin. Love also the part about San Francisco Bridge and the events that were taking place there.
Love that she found information about the whereabouts of her father's body. They had been fooled when they thought the man who appeared was their friend. They find out later just how much he was...
So much action, adventure, clues and lots of weapons, others who are on their side, and some that are not, travel and romance.
An excerpt from the next book is enclosed at the end.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

This may be the most aptly named of all Ethan Jones thrillers. Justin Hall, CIS agent and all round hero, is forced to work with Russian agents and that’s when the things get tricky. There’s people seemingly on one side then the other and then… well I’ll not spoil it for new readers but let’s say Justin and his partner Carrie O’Connor don’t know who they can trust. Ethan Jones never disappoints with his blend of spies, action and thrills and Double Agents is yet another great example of an author that surely must be regarded as one of the best of the genre. One thing to note is there’s action, bullets flying, death, mayhem and destruction but somehow the author keeps all that clean. Never including language that may offend, never being graphic with the injuries but still delivering on all the things I love. Excellent.

Whom Do You Trust?

Justin and Carrie once again find themselves in a nearly impossible situation as they try to carry out a mission using friendly forces and some not-all-so-friendly forces. But as is often the case, the location is not at all hospitable. When a terrorist in Chechnya has critical information about strikes in the US as well as Russia, the Russian FSB counterpart is withholding intel, vital information necessary for their op. So Justin and Carrie go to Chechnya with a hodge-podge band of operatives to get the intel and eliminate the terrorist, working against the clock to thwart an attack in the US. Ethan Jones exciting and compelling writing keeps you glued to you seat reading every word while hoping you'll discover the ending of the story. An enthusiastic five stars!

The Russian Minister of Defense is assassinated when leaving a meeting. The shooter is one of his own FSB members. The CIS, at the request of the CIA send Justin and Carrie to Russia to exchange information with the FSB as there is information out there that an attack on the US is coming, and more attacks on Russians. The governments of all involved think exchanging information and assisting each other will help all involved. But with double agents and traitors everywhere can the mission be accomplished before more people are killed. Can everyone be trusted...and more importantly can Justin and Carrie return home alive...

Another suspense-filled thrill ride in the Justin Hall series. Filled with political intrigue, double-crosses, and an ever-shifting network of allies and enemies, Justin and Carrie are back at it and better than ever. This story blends facts from current news headlines with aspects that I desperately hope are pure fiction, because if they aren’t I’m deeply terrified. This story kept me anxiously flipping pages to find out how it would all turn out. I’ve only just finished it and already I’m looking forward to reading more.

Terrorist Plot

Carrie and Justin are after terrorists who have a plan of destruction in the United States. They go through a lot of hoops and double agents to figure out where in the United States the plan will take place. They don't know who to trust and they have to watch their backs. Another enjoyable read!

Brilliant!

Another great read that you don't want to miss out on! Once again I traveled out of the country with Justin and Carrie. I was able to see, feel and think like they did. I felt their fears, their pain and their joys. Such descriptive wording really takes you on the journey with them. I can't wait to delve into the next book of this series to see where I'm going next!

Well written, with a few surprises. A great series continues, with relatively uncommon Canadian characters.

Looking forward to the next book!

Like all of the Justin Hall series this one opens with a bang as the Russian Minister of Defense is assassinated by one of his security detail who turns out to be a Chechen terrorist.

At the same time Justin, Carrie and team are on another mission in Bosnia and this mission will leave Justin with concerns over the actions that he was forced to take that will haunt him throughout the current story.

After they return the CIA asks for assistance from the CIS and in particular Justin in helping them to convince the Russians to work they will assist us with stopping us them. If not, then Justin is to with them to stop a terrorist plot that they know is underway by Chechen terrorists, but they do not know any other information. It is hoped that with the recent assassination of a Russian minister that steal the information needed.

The Russians do not intend to help either the CIA or the Canadians and just like the CIA and other US agencies there is an internal struggle within the Russian government and its agencies. Nothing is as it seems and Justin learns once again that if “he doesn’t listen to his gut” big trouble follows.

There is lots of action in this latest novel and we are left with a satisfying end to this story and perhaps the beginning of the next Justin Hall Novel.

I have read each of these novels and the short stories and while you can follow the novel without it I think the reader will enjoy it more if he reads the previous novels.

“Just as they rounded a corner, two RPGs screamed over their heads. One pounded a small car parked in front of a one-story house and exploded into a million fiery fragments. The other zipped through the street and blew up as it came into contact with a wooden electricity pole”
This short paragraph is the best example I can find to sum up this book. The book hits you with the power and force of the RPG and is not adverse to travelling in two directions at the same time.
Although this is the 4th book in the series there is no need to have read the previous books to follow this one. It works excellently as a stand-alone piece as well as part of an on-going series (think of the way the James Bond books work).
The greatest compliment I can pay this book is to liken it to the “Bourne” series. Obviously it is different but I feel if you like that style of story you will love this book, if you want a really good read go get this book today.
I need to mention I was given this book for free but that has no way influenced my views, I just love this author and his work.
(PS I have given free books zero and one stars in the past and reserve the right to do so again!)

Double Agents
Justin Hall #4
By Ethan Jones

Justin Hall and Carrie O'Connor are back in action and even more danger. Tasked with helping the CIA stop a Chechen terrorist attack against the United States CIS's best are determined to get the job done.

With all the excitement of the previous Justin Hall novels you won't be disappointed in Double Agents. When the CIA approaches CIS about a Chechen threat against the US - Justin and Carrie are tasked to help be the go-between between the CIA and Russia's FSB.

But nothing goes quite according to plan and with a double agent involved someone's life is on the line and not everyone will return home... Regardless of the losses and the personal favors IOU's that are racking up Justine and Carrie are going to stop a terrorist and his planned attack on US soil.

Double Agents is another thriller from Ethan Jones and you won't want to miss a single second of the heart pounding excitement! And there is a terrific little tidbit at the end that hints at even more Justin Hall excitement to come... I, for one, can't wait for Rogue Agents!

I was provided a digital ARC in exchange for review.

I have now read three stories in the Justin Hall series. I have not been reading them in order other than starting with #1. :-)

If you read the rest of my review, you might wonder why I keep reading the Justin Hall books. I find these books to be easy reading with good entertainment value. Plus, I don't have turn on the lights if I want to read a chapter or two, or three. I just pull out my cell phone! :-)

The writing style does not seem to have the polish that you find with top-tier authors. Most of the time this does not bug me, but every so often, it does.

There were times when the characters came across (to me) as slightly childish. I seriously doubt this was the intent. I think it was an attempt by the author to make the characters more believable/realistic. But I could be wrong, there, too. LOL

The storyline was fine, and for the most part believable. With this type of book, I prefer a little more in the way of fighting. It's also fun/interesting to see how an author from Canada portrays US people and government.

Ethan Jones has done it again with DOUBLE AGENTS, the fourth novel in the Justin Hall spy thriller series. He's created a world filled with assassination attempts, double-crossing, and terror plots and thrown in his two Canadian Secret Service Agents, Justin and Carrie, to thwart the crises that arise from the mix.

The story catches the reader's attention from the outset when the Russian Minister of Defence is assassinated by a member of his own security team. As the plot progresses, the action is maintained with the use of vivid setting construction, interesting detailing of weaponry, and high tension scenes. Even at the conclusion of the story, the author manages to seize the reader's attention by providing yet more information affecting the lives of the two Agents and which will no doubt play out in series' to come.

Highly recommended to readers who enjoy action/spy thrillers.

Justin Hall is no stranger to travelling the world to fight for justice.

This time Justin and his partner, Carrier, are off to Russia after the assassination of the Minister of Defense. While ties have never been “friendly” between Russia and other countries, they do want to know who plotted this crime.

Knowing one crime leads to another, the United States and Canada become involved. However, Russia is hesitant to divulge all information. In order to contain any further terrorist activity, Justin finds a way to get the information he needs, including what the next target is. But at what cost? And can Justin make it to the target in time?

Great cast of characters to keep you interested. Loaded with action, this is the type of book that would make a great action movie. Keeping up with the previous Justin Hall’s books, this one will not disappoint. You will keep turning pages until the end.
