I am slowly but surely learning to manage my time more effectively and getting back to writing and connecting with everyone. I'm not completely there yet, but it is slowly coming together. Misled and Misappropriate have been updated with additional chapters and POVs from a couple more characters. Both books have about 30,000 more words and new covers. I have new covers for all the books in the series. Recently Misled placed first in the Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller category on Chick Lit Cafe. The paperback will also be included in an upcoming Reveal Book Box. While working on Reckless, I am also updating the text in the original series. About Reckless - It will be filled with death and destruction, as usual. However, I will admit to being slightly shocked myself at some of the turn of events taking place. I have restarted my newsletter with a new name, KatChats. Until the end of the year, I plan to send it out weekly because of all the news I have to share. After that, I will switch to monthly. I also have a new website. It should be online in a couple of days once the domain transfer completes. I also have a website dedicated to the Death Dwellers. It is still in its early stages, but it is live: https://deathdwellersmc.com. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please send them my way.
Kathryn C. Kelly is a New Orleans native who has called southeast Texas home since 2005. She had intended to travel the world but always return to her beloved New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina had other plans. She is the mother of three beautiful daughters and the daughter of one gorgeous mother whose footsteps she followed in by becoming a writer. Kathryn is the former owner and editor of Inside Rose Rich Magazine. She and her mother have been published by Jove Books as Christine Holden. The books have long been out of print but they got the rights back to the five novels and have plans to re-release them soon. Kathryn is a cancer survivor. In 2010, she felt a small lump in her breast. In 2015, at the urging of her mother, she went in for her bi-yearly mammogram and was diagnosed with Stage 2b/3a HER2 positive breast cancer. On November 30, 2016, she rang the bell. During her treatment, she was also diagnosed with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. In 2013, Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell introduced himself to Kat in the most cliché way ever. He came to her in a dream. After the inauspicious meeting, he planted himself in her mind and the motherf...the gentleman hasn't left yet. In what was only supposed to be one book about the fictitious Death Dwellers MC, Outlaw has become a source of amusement, a well of frustration, and a bone of contention between Kat and one of her daughters. She is hard at work on Reckless, the book that will bridge the OGs with a new generation of Death Dwellers. Her work has been included in several anthologies and she is looking forward to other upcoming single title releases, including Savage Suit from the Cocky Hero Club World created by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. She is a former RWA member. She also served as Vice President for the SOLA chapter of RWA. She is a New Orleans Saints fan, but roots for the Texans, the Rockets, and the Coogs (U of H) as long as they aren't playing any Louisiana teams. She loves champagne and sparkling wine. One day, she will try Snoop's brand. She still loves Chivas Regal but had a chance to taste Sassenach Scotch. A #lifegoal is to one day buy herself an entire bottle and keep it all for herself. In her head, she is a biker babe with a Harley in her garage, waiting for her to hit the road. In reality, she has yet to hop on a bike and ride. She loves Cards Against Humanity, has very strong opinions that she keeps to herself, has to take her time to talk in public so nothing untoward pops out, and always strives to see the best in people and in life.
Misunderstood is a book that I wanted to loved but sadly barely liked. Just to be clear it has nothing to do with the writer's style or talent, it was the female leads in this book that ruined it for me. Kendall is one you would expect to be strong based on her description but her actions were the total opposite, making her weak. Don't get me started on Meggie, because she was just a bitch that EVERYONE catered too, oh my god. I wanted to smack the females for being them at the same time wanting to smack the guys for putting up with them. The guys were not as bad but even Johnnie I found fault with.
I was tempted to DNF this book, but I wanted to know what happens to the overall story choosing to ignore the heroine (or trying to.) Did I regret finishing the book, No, because it was a good story line but it was just the characters that rubbed me the wrong way. It's not the series for me I'm afraid, if I couldn't even like the secondary characters I don't think it will end well for me or the book.

**Note to readers who plan on reading this in the future:I HIGHLY SUGGEST that you read MISLEAD before embarking on this novel since Johnnie is first introduced there.**
Misunderstood was a solid read but did struggle with issues with cohesiveness and disheveling all over the place.
Those of you who have followed Outlaw and Meggie’s story from Misled to Misappropriate know about Johnnie and his not so subtle attraction for Meggie.
But, as we all know, she’s off limits and is in love with Outlaw. Hence, Johnnie’s anguish and one-sided love brims in the midst.
He then meets a mysterious red head and has a one night stand with her and their fates become forever entwined.
But with danger, death, blackmail, blood, a couple game changing revelations, how will everything turn out? Will Johnnie extinguish his torch for Meggie and give Kendall a chance? And with old and new enemies arising, will these two be able to trust each other to stay alive?
Read and you will find out!
My thoughts: So while I did LOVE this book, I do have to admit that it was a tad rough around the edges.
I can’t put my finger as to what I thought was missing or skewed but I can say that I felt constantly bombarded at all directions with action, romance, and new situations and people popping themselves in that I got a bit overwhelmed at times.
I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing because it’s not; it’s just that it made my head spin once in a while trying to process everything. Then again, it could be because I’m still recovering from a bad cold that had been going around my family that I feel this way. Who knows? Everything just seemed to go off a lot though in the first part of the book and the ending so it was a bit dumbfounding is all.
Also, I thought that Kendall was supposed to be an attorney. So where did that concept go? It was brought up in the beginning and then it just perished. It made Kendall’s credibility shoot out the door for me. And well, the way that she acted throughout the story. It just wasn’t believable that she had such credentials to get such a degree only for it to not be at all expanded on throughout the story and for her to act like a petulant child at times for a woman of 30 years of age.
I mean, Kendall went through all those years of schooling so it has to be her passion, right? Where did it go? I get that she landed in bad water with that previous MC club that put it on the back burner but I would have liked to see it take flight again as Kendall rediscovered herself and grew stronger character wise.
As for Johnnie…yes, I’m finally getting to him now….while I did get his feelings for Meggie, I also didn’t fully comprehend what the heck he was doing with Kendall at all. I get that he was attracted to her and felt that he needed to man up and take responsibility for that bomb she lays on him but I still didn’t see any real chemistry.
I did like, however, that he doesn’t fall in love with Kendall from the get go. I hate insta-love and fast paced romances. But at the same time, I just wish that there was a little more depth to his and Kendall’s relationship is all instead of seeming so forced.
So over all, a great addition to the Death Dwellers MC series! Kathryn Kelly is definitely an author to be on the lookout for and I can’t wait for Val and Zoann’s story!! Zoann wasn’t as bad as I had thought in this book so I really look forward to their book!! And then, hopefully, Mortician and Bailey’s story will be after! *Pretty please?!*
*An ARC review copy was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!*
I'm sorry to say that this story just didn't do anything for me. I was looking forward to Johnnies story but I just didn't feel the connection between Kendall and him. It felt flat and that he just settled for her. **SPOILER**
Because she became pregnant. He didn't love her. He still loved Meg and Kendall just appeared weak. I know things were tough but she was so needy and her life couldn't possibly be right without Johnnie in it.
Ugh.. where to start? I didn't really feel the connection between Johnnie and Kendall. He was still pinning for Meg! I was waiting.. maybe half way of the story he could redeem himself but was so disappointed because by the end of the book he was still hung up on her! I'm all into love triangle stories but this one didn't sit well on me. Johnnie and Kendall together? I didn't believe it. He spent the whole time in love with Megan then few pages he's not anymore? Really?
Kendall was unlikeable heroine in my opinion. This woman has experienced so much shit but I didn't feel any pity or whatever. I liked reading under dog characters but she just felt flat to me throughout the story. -_-
To be honest, Meg stole the show in this book. I didn't like her here. You'd think we had enough of her since ya' know she already had two books in the series but nooooo... the author had to still include her and take a big part in this book too.
Set aside the romance thing going on in the book, I'm still giving this 2ish stars because the story was just all over the place and poorly executed.
I don't know if I'll continue this series. I love the first book and second book came out just okay... then this.. ugh. Disappointed.
WHOA!!! I am still reeling over Misunderstood. I was excited yet hesitant to start it because I was suffering a atruegemawardmajor book hangover from JR Ward's THE KING and I was scared that would impact my being able to stay focused on Misunderstood. Happily it didn't, from page one of Misunderstood I was hooked!
How do I even review Misunderstood without spoilers? I can't. What I can say is that fans of the Death Dwellers series have been waiting for Johnnie's book and Ms. Kelly did not disappoint. Misunderstood is an epic tale of betrayal, abuse, death, lost love, new love, fear, suicide, rape and brotherhood.
I LOVE Johnnie, in the previous books, Misled and Misappropriate, he is the sexy guy every girl wants. In Misunderstood he is still sexy but we get a glimpse of the darkness he hides and find out why there is so much tension between him and his cousin Outlaw (Christopher). I do have to say Johnnie was a bit of a hardass and at times really harsh to Kendall, but the situation they were in gets him a little leeway from me, so I still LURRVV him!
Kendall - This chick has ISSUES many, many issues. She needs help both for the situation she has found herself in and for issues that stem from her childhood. At times she drove me crazy, but i couldn't help but feel for her, in the end I just wanted her happy and to feel loved like she never has before.
Misunderstood is truly a roller coaster ride full of twists and turns and OMG! WTF?!?! moments. This book is intense, it's full of emotions and there is NOT a lot of happy in this story, it is emotionally devastating, there are situations that will turn your stomach, make you laugh, make you cry and make you cringe. OH and Johnnie is HOT, pretty much a BEAST in the sheets!!! I would take a Johnnie Kiss ANY DAY, ANYTIME. There are some great funny and tender moments with the Death Dwellers giving each other hell and especially when they melt around Little Man. As hard as some of the situations were to read, I found myself not able to put it down, well a couple scenes I had to put the book down and BREATHE, only to jump right back into the story.
One thing I love about the Death Dwellers' series is that the characters carry over in each book and each book does not necessarily wrap up the main characters HEA. I am not saying they are cliffhangers, I am saying that even though we may see a HEA/HFN, we will see them work through things in the next books. I LOVE series like this, it shows that a HEA does not come with everything perfect for the rest of their lives and full of talking ponies, unicorns and glitter. It shows that you have to work to keep your HEA and that love is worth fighting for. (THAT being said if an author ever permanently split up a couple who had their HEA I would never ever read them again, when it all comes to an end I NEED the total HEA).
As dark and emotional as the story is, I found it riveting and I truly enjoyed Misunderstood, I will admit to cussing at Ms. Kelly for the tears I shed. While reading Misunderstood I could really see the growth of Ms. Kelly as an author. Now I am chompin' at the bit for the next book in this epic MC Romance saga!
Note: Please do not go into this series expecting roses, chocolate and a sweet HEA, this is not that kind of series, this series will chew you up, spit you out all the while making you smile at the antics of the Death Dweller members and interactions between all of them, then sigh when they finally get their HEA. The road to each couple's HEA is filled with a whole lot of ugly, angst, trouble and turmoil, but once they reach it you will be glad you were along for the wild ride.
Misunderstood, Death Dwellers' MC; Book 2, Kathryn Kelly **WARNING SPOILERS**
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews I love good contemporary romance, and have read some cracking biker books, so asked for this. Still, having read it I wondered if I was going to be alone in really not enjoying it....and it seems this is a Marmite series, one you either love or hate. Maybe hate is too strong, but certainly dislike. So what went wrong for me? Well, Kendall – an attorney so supposedly an intelligent woman, and yet ends up in the situation she's in? No one from her work notices her biker boyfriend whacking her about? Taking her away when she's due in court? The woman herself is one of those TSTL heroines, and I can't be doing with them. **WARNING SPOILERS** She's just seen her mum kill herself, her little sister is still in the capture of the MC her boyfriend heads up, and she knows sis is facing rape and death, and yet what does she do? Go for help? No....takes on the job and flakes out again, and again, and again. When she does get caught and questioned by Johnny ( her “saviour” in her mind) does she tell him all and ask him for help? After all she thinks he's a hero, and she's in love with him? No..Does she find a way to escape and search for sister? No, even though she's unrestrained and in the house alone, it seems it's far more important to wait for him to return and have more hot sex....Jonny was still so fixated on Meg I didn't see where the connection between them could go, and how they'd ever have any kind of relationship. I can take the violence, murders, sexual elements, the bad language, ( though even for a biker book that was extreme) and the fact that they all spoke in weird, cut off sentences...but the whole thing, murders, kidnapping, the back and forth between Spoon's club and the DDs was just simply far too OTT. It was a series of disjointed incidences that didn't add up, didn't make sense and the sex seemed to be thrown in simply to make the book “erotic”. Well for me I need more. Sex that fits the story, plots that make sense, and are realistic ( seriously all those murders, bombings, beatings, fires where the police and fire-squad are attending, and it all gets passed over by a few backhanders? Unreal IMO. So that's it – a book some will love and some like me will simply feel Meh, unreal, didn't like it. Stars: Sorry, just two. ARC received via Netgalley
OMG! Misunderstood is amazing! Sleep was lost over this book because I could not put it down. I was hooked from page one. Like I have mentioned this book is not for the faint of heart but if you love biker books than this is a must read series!! It is full of everything you expect from a MC book, action, violence and tons of hot bad boy bikers. With every book in this series I fall more in love with the characters. I also develop more of a hatred for Big Joe a.k.a Megan’s dad. I really hope he is burning in book hell because he is a motherfucking asshole…. Trust me that is me being nice. *Warning may contain triggers.
I liked Kendall. She didn’t always make the smartest decisions but hell she watched her mom kill herself right in front of her. Not to mention what that douchebag Spoon put her through. He deserves to die a long and slow death. Seriously though I was just proud that she was still putting one foot in front of the other. I liked how she kinda gave Megan some hell because ….. I kinda agree a bit. *please don’t hate me* lol I can’t imagine having horrible self-esteem and then seeing Megan who is young and gorgeous. Especially if you know the man you care deeply about has a thing for her.
Johnnie well I love him but sometimes I want to throttle him. I don’t understand his weird obsession with “Megs”. I was so glad he found Kendall. I didn’t realize Johnnie was so scary until this book but it was weirdly hot. I liked how he was protective of her even when he shouldn’t have been according to the MC rules. I liked seeing his relationship with Val and Mortician. Something about the three of them made me giggle.
I have to say I love Mortician. He is a funny guy who is going to lose that bet. I can’t wait to see the hell Bailey is going to put him through. I also am very excited for Val and Zoann’s story because damn she deserves something nice in her life.
~Special thanks to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I am loving this series more and more. I have got to be honest though. This book has a lot going for it with the story but I am already getting a bad feeling of disgust and dislike for Kendall. John Boy's new love interest we met in the last book trying to seduce Outlaw "Christopher". Without throwing out spoilers left and right I do realize that Kendall has been through a lot of horror and heartbreak but it seems that no matter what has happened her mind is 99.9% on sex. She says she's not a whore but she has whored her way through school to get things and find love. While she is suppose to be worried about what is happening to her sister that is being raped, beaten and used on a daily basis she seems to think about her only a "little". She gets sloppy drunk worrying about looking fat because she's pregnant so Johnnie won't find her attractive not caring what drinking and binging and purging will do to the baby. All I see about Kendall is ALL ABOUT KENDALL.
Meanwhile back at the clubhouse Christopher and Megan are still off on their honeymoon. Johnnie is acting Prez. K,P, is missing. Logan has reappeared when everyone thought him dead and for some reason wants access to the baby "Little Man" saying he wants to makeup for all the bad he did to Christopher and unknown to Kendall her sister is already dead. Val who had been shot just recently is beaten nearly to death just a week or so later. Things are building to a big climax this book. You shouldn't miss it. Great read.
If you don't mind playing slip and slide through Kendall's bodily fluids. "My Bad" lol
omg Johnnie how I love you.I never knew you were so complicated. I received an arc of this book and even though I loved the first two, this book to me was even better. The story was riveting and I found myself ignoring everyone and everything around me until I finished.I would laugh then scream then be like really I mean just really. I loved the chance to see how the whole gang was doing and even though we lose a couple in this one I feel it didnt alter the story at all.and yes Outlaw is still a crazy a...... but ya gotta love him. there are a few dark happenings in this book and I know I have read that some wont read it because of these happenings but I promise they aren't as bad as you think.yeah I cringed when I read it but it added depth to the story and made Kendall seem solid as a character. So please don't let one part of a chapter ruin what will be an awesome read for you.if you like the grittier side of an mc love story you will not be disappointed with this one. Kathryn Kelly you have once again made my day for allowing me to read the continuation of this series.I will gladly continue to support you and your books anytime babe.keep bringing them on
Another excellent addition to this fabulous series! Not for the faint of heart, this book is full of sex, death and rowdy bikers! This book was full of twist and turns and had we on the edge of my seat. Johnnie is left in charge of the club while Christopher (Outlaw) is away on his honeymoon and all hell breaks loose, old enemies return and nothing was as it seems! Kendall's sister is taken and in order to get her back she is suppose to get close to Christopher but gets on Johnnie's radar! What happens when he finds out? Will she trust Johnnie to help her? Will secrets of the past surface and destroy everyone! I loved this book and can't wait to see what happens next!
Johnnie Johnnie Johnnie......oh how I loved Johnnie.....another great read from this MC series. I'm loving these boys and can not wait for the next chapter in the Death Dwellers'
I received a copy of this book late last night and once I opened it, I could not put it down. Such an amazing read, well done Kathryn Kelly you have done it again, don't know why you were sweating over this one...lol. So any MC lovers out there you need to get this book.
And door number two...has a twist...Emotional cheating... ( settling for girl who got pregnant while hung up on someone else). Isn't that refreshing... Self note:
OK! Harder book review to write, simply because this is one of the grittiest motorcycle club (MC) series I have ever read. I do have to write a small disclaimer here as this is certainly the farthest from PG reading one can get. If you are squimish and/or sensitive (keep reading to find out what there is to be squimish about) in the least, take a pass on this series. If you are open to reading about harsh violence, rape, language, law breaking, controversial everything, hot biker dudes that are serious bad ass, tight brotherhood and a storyline that just keeps you page flipping or screen swiping, then you may want to check this out. I am a boundary pushing reader and appreciate an author who will lay it all out and not apologize for it. Well Kathryn Kelly does all of this in her Death Dwellers MC Series. I LOVE THIS RAW READ, will reread and anticipate future releases. My shock buttons were most assuredly pushed and while I am not by any means "in the know" of how MC clubs are truely ran, I would dare say this may be a little more accurate than some of the "rainbow glitter" versions out there (which BTW are quite a great read as well and ones I enjoy more than often).
Now I hope I haven't scared you off, but there is a need to be honest. This series really rocked my world and the "WOW, the author went there!" factor was in the forefront.
The Death Dweller series by Kathryn Kelly is about the Death Dweller motorcycle club consisting of men and woman that live their lives according to a brotherhood and a code. Their lives are drenched in violence, they march to the beat of their own drum, live by their own laws, are in constant conflict, engage in drugs and alcohol and in the midst of it all, are hooking up with their future "old lady".
BOOK 1 - Misled

He deals in a world of violence, sex, drugs, and crudity. As president of the Death Dwellers' MC, Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell presides over a club in chaos after the death of their longtime president and his mentor, Joseph "Boss" Foy.

REVIEW
Megan Foy has not lived a life most woman would brag about. She is the daughter of the former president of The Death Dwellers MC. While she has lived away from the club, she has been a victim of abuse by her stepfather. Finally pushed to leave her home, Megan goes to find her father for help. When she runs into the new president Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell, she is stunned to discover that her father is dead. While there is chemistry between Megan and Outlaw, there are too many factors that prevent Outlaw from claiming Megan as his "old lady". The biggest factor is that Outlaw is responsible for her father's death. This doesn't mean he isn't claiming Megan every other way and keeping her close to his side. This is a tumultuous time for the club with war on the horizon and betrayal so large that one needs to concentrate on surviving before one can start living.
BOOK 1.5 - Misappropriate
DESCRIPTION

However, a new threat rides into town and targets Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell, forcing him to re-evaluate his life once more and endangering everyone. REVIEW
Well, once Outlaw decides to claim Megan it's "all in" with the baby and the wedding. Megan is realizing how much her life has changed when she faces the challenges of being the The Death Dwellers presidents "old lady", mother to the treasured "little man", and trying to plan her wedding and get all her hard ass MC biker boys in tuxedos. On top of all this, her mother is acting like an idiot stick and Outlaws dad is back in town and trying to get rid of her. With the odds stacked against her, Megan rises up and shows her new family just what she is made of ... rainbows and unicorns have no place here! LOL

REVIEW
Johnnie ... SIGH! Yup he is the yummy biker. We met him in book 1 as he is Outlaws cousin, a member of the Death Dwellers, but he was raised educated, a more "proper" than his biker brothers. Although considered refined, he is still all bad biker. Now the VP, he is acting P when Megan and Outlaw are on their honeymoon and the quiet couple of weeks he was hoping for are nothing but a wish. You know what is about to hit the fan, and it all surrounds the mysterious woman that had offered to become the clubs lawyer. Kendall is the ex-girlfriend of an opposing club, and soon finds herself having to do things she wouldn't dream of doing in order to save her sister. This means infiltrating the Death Dwellers and engaging the VP. Well while the flames are fanned between John and Kendall, a whole bunch of violence and trouble comes between them, leaving them with the doubt that things could ever work between them.
I really had trouble putting this series down. There are some serious LOL moments and the things that come out of these bikers mouths are at times nothing short of hilarious. There was also never a real HEA, more like HFN, but considering the lifestyle the HEA just wouldn't fit. The sex is hot, the language crude and the grit REALLY GRITTY! Loved IT! :)
Just got done reading the entire series that's in the collected box set. This one is gritty and gory and Outlaw is the ultimate MC alpha with his dirty dirty mouth and his penchant for shooting people in the middle of their foreheads. Meggie is 15 years younger than him, but they connect on more than one level. The other MC guys are shaped well here, and I liked all of their individual stories, but I hate, hate, hate Kendall. :) Worth the wait to read the entire series right in a row.
MISUNDERSTOOD, the third book in the Death Dwellers MC Series, is the darkest MC romance yet. A thrilling, gut-wrenching story with a focus on conquering the past to make way for the future, Misled and Misappropriate (the first and second books in the Death Dwellers MC Series) should definitely be read first. Additionally, I will warn you, the path to resolution and absolution in this story is not an easy one. With a style closer to a psychological thriller than a romance, this story is deeper, darker and more raw, not to mention more emotionally draining, than that which romance readers are typically accustomed to. All that said, if you enjoy dark romances, and the MC sub-genre of romance in particular, then the Death Dweller MC Series, including MISUNDERSTOOD, is a series you will not want to miss!
In MISUNDERSTOOD we learn a lot more behind the family history that shaped John "Johnnie" Donovan and Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell into the dangerous, MC members that they are today. With an intimate view of the circumstances that could lead to the development of such seemingly cold, heartless killers--who nonetheless are extremely loyal and will do anything to protect their MC "brothers" and the women they love--MISUNDERSTOOD is a fascinating character study.
We also get to learn Kendall Miller's devastatingly, sad story. For those of you that read Misappropriate, Kendall is the woman who was sent to try to seduce Outlaw at his bachelor party, but ended up in Johnnie's bed instead. A lawyer and at one time confident woman, MISUNDERSTOOD also serves as a psychological study of what would cause a woman like Kendall to suffer such an incredible fall from grace to the point of becoming a pawn in the hands of another MC which nearly breaks her.
In MISUNDERSTOOD Johnnie's and Kendall's relationship continues to evolve. However, this is not a traditional romance by any stretch, so while MISUNDERSTOOD does tell Johnnie's and Kendall's beginning, at the heart of it, this story is really more about resolving Johnnie's, Outlaw's and Meggie's past, so that Johnnie can move on with a potential relationship with Kendall in the future.
The reason I gave MISUNDERSTOOD 5-stars relates to the incredible psychological, thriller aspect of this novel. This book deals with all kinds of scarring traumatic events and psychological conditions from rape, sexual assault, suicide, emotional/verbal abuse, bulimia, the list goes on and on. These are not easy issues to incorporate and Ms. Kelly does an amazing job of incorporating these difficult subjects into her story. However, I would have liked to have heard more about Johnnie's and Kendall's romance. Hopefully, as is typical of Ms. Kelly's style, we will continue to see the development of their relationship, even if its more in the nature of secondary characters, in later books in the series.
All in all, MISUNDERSTOOD was a captivating read that kept me hooked until the end. I, for one, can't wait for the next installment in the Death Dweller's MC Series, Misbehavior, which will be centered around Val's and Zoann's story.

This is book two in the series and although I didn't read book one, I was able to catch up quickly.
John is VP for the Death Dwellers MC and he's in charge while the club's President is on his honeymoon. This story must take place either right where book one left off or shortly thereafter. John's dealing with a beautiful redhead who tried to seduce his Prez before he left on his honeymoon. He dealt with her by taking her to his room and having sex with her. He's also dealing with his feelings for his Prez's wife and their past, family issues that were a lot more than mind boggling, and regular issues within the club. John is a college educated man in a world full of people less educated than him. He handles all of that in pretty good stride. Between death attempts and falling for the redhead he's pretty sure is trying to bring down his club, he is ready for the Prez to get back in town.
Kendall is the redhead in question. She's an attorney with self image issues that are downright frightening. She's a pawn in game she's totally unprepared for. She's fighting not only for her life but for the life of her younger sister who has been kidnapped by John's enemies. Her first mission was to seduce the Prez, which failed. She paid for that horrifically. Now she has to get close to John and that excites her to no end, especially after the hot night they spent together. The question is how is she gonna pull this all off and what will it all lead to?
This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. I really liked it. It was dirty, gritty and not for the weak of heart. There is a lot of violence in this book. From murder to physical assault to rape. There is also love, caring and brotherhood. MC romance is very hot right now and this is a good addition to the genre. I would compare this to if Madeline Sheehan's Undeniable series and Lili St. Germaine's Gypsy series had a baby, this would be it. It's a non traditional romance story with blistering sex and morality issues out the wazoo. I'm hooked, so give it a try.
Well, we got a little break from the darkness reading Misappropriate, book 1.5 in the Death Dwellers MC series, but Kathryn Kelly really throws us right back in with this one. A lot of heartbreaking things happen in Misunderstood.
I didn't love this book as much as I loved the first two books but it did have a HEA, hot sex, and funny moments. I loved that about it. I'm really glad there's another book for this couple. I was a little unsatisfied with the ending and I'm looking forward to seeing Johnnie focus on his relationship with Kendall. They both deserve love and happiness after everything they've been through.
The first thing we learn in the book is that Johnnie Boy has been keeping some life-changing secrets from Christopher, and you will be shocked when they are revealed. We've always seen Johnnie with a smile on his face and ready with a joke. We haven't really gotten to see deep under the surface. There are flashbacks from his past spread throughout the book. It helps us understand why he hesitates to put an end to something he really needs to. I know I'm being vague, but I don't want to give anything away.
Johnnie has a hard time trusting Kendall, because he knows she came to the clubhouse without the best intentions. Kendall was forced to do as it's the only way to save herself and her sister. She is loyal, a little foolish and protective. She's also not very confident and has serious self esteem issues, but ultimately, Kendall is strong and brave; she survives everything that is thrown at her.
We get to read a few more of the character’s POVs; one being Mort. I loved hearing how Mort thinks – in fact, I just plain love him! He's so awesome and funny. And he's nicer to Kendall than most of the people, including Johnnie, sometimes.
Misunderstood is a great story. I loved it and I can't wait to read the next book. This is just a fantastic series! ~ Paige, 4.5 stars
This is a tough book for me to rate. I loved John Boy and enjoyed every part that didn't involve Kendall. I just hated her. I wish Spoon, Grandda, anyone, someone took her out. I understand she went through some ugly stuff, she falls apart and becomes a self centered invalid. These men need strong women and Kendall wasn't strong. Was there anytime she truly thought of anyone but herself. Did she at anytime step out of her own self pity to fight for her sister, Johnny or his club? She drinks and drugs while she's pregnant because Spoon is gonna kill her baby anyway, but how's he going to find? why not tell the babies father? She does not fight for her sister. She is to busy crying about how fat she is and no one will love her. Not the girl for Johnny. The way she behaves at the club with Meg was just embarrassing. How old are you? She was so judgmental. Johns been shot, Meg's mom beaten, and her son was left in a garbage can to suffocate and Kendall thinks it an appropriate time to behave like she is 16. Attacks Meg because the guy she wants is still hung up on Meg. I think I would be more concerned with finding out more about my dead 16yr old sister. Maybe help out with the other families in lock down. No she would rather stew in the corner because no one loves her like Meg. John didn't love her so I'm hoping she dies giving birth and John finds some one tougher and driven. I just didn't see how Kendall could compete with Meg and win Johnny. There has to be more coming. Don't know how the author will bring Kendall around. If she moves on to the next story Ill stop reading the series.
The second book in the Death Dwellers series by Kathryn Kelly. Kendall Miller's sister was kidnapped and Kendall is forced to comply with her ex-boyfriend's demands. Kendall was sent to seduce Outlaw at a party and failed. She ended up in his cousin, Johnnie's bed instead. Johnnie is acting Prez of the Death Dwellers while Outlaw is on his honeymoon but there are forces that want to destroy them all.
I grabbed Misled and read it first when I knew I was going to read this but there is another book, Misappropriate, that really needs to be read too. I felt I was missing a lot by not reading it. I liked Johnnie but I really didn't care for Kendall at all. She was a lawyer but I didn't feel it. So much chaos could have been prevented if she would have told the truth. But I understand that was the way the author wrote her. There were elements that were not of my personal taste but the story itself rolled along nicely. But I do wonder - Where was the police? So much death and destruction and the police are clueless? Just didn't seem very feasible to me. On another note, the ending does end on a cliffhanger. So be warned.
I must admit I would be hesitate to recommend this to most people but those out there who want something dark and gritty may want to check this out.
I received this book through Netgalley for an honest review.
3 stars I expect to be 5 star book for me but it was not that great like the first 2 books.
Where to start??ok first from the worst - 3 POV personally for me i hate 3 POV,i can t connect with the characters and it must be written really to hook me and to continue reading, first 2 books were this not so much.Half the book i didn't understand from which POV is,it was literally mess and i don t like when authors try to give us story from other couple in this case it's Motorcian and Baily, they will have own book so why 10 pages for them??
Kendell oo women I really tried to understand you but in the end of the book i think Jonnie deserve better.I understand problem with weight from my personal experience i know haw is to fight when you lost weight and your scared not to return it.You fight every day with it so i m glad Kathryn write about this topic. But she was so selfish and in the moment in the book she act like 17 years old instead of mature 30 years old women.I didn't connect with her at all,she was annoyoing,self-pity she is unlikeable heroine in my opinion.
Johnnie for me he was the best part in the book.
Overall i expect so much but in the end i did not get the enjoyment like the others books.
I've struggled a bit with the previous two books and didn't intend to read this one but the lure of Johnnie and Mortician was just too great to resist. I read a little way in and thought 'what the hell' so then I checked the reviews and finding them all good I went back to reading but I just don't get it, it didn't work at all for me Kendal, I'm struggling for words to describe her, we're supposed to believe she's a lawyer....really she comes across as a complete idiot and annoyed the hell out of me throughout the whole book and in the brief moments when she actually seemed like a real person and I started to feel sympathy for her she opened her mouth and nasty stuff poured out, she wasn't remotely likeable and not who I wanted for Johnnie and I don't really believe he wanted her either I didn't feel any chemistry between them, he's still hung up on Megs, who while I'm having a moan I didn't like in this book she came across as a spoilt child.
I know all the reviews are good and I've struggled with the previous two books so I think it's time I call it quits, this series is obviously not for me.
Third book in the series for me. Enjoyed books 1 and 2 very much. I became very invested in the characters from the first two books. Overall Misunderstood was a good read for me. I liked reading more about Chris, Megan, Johnnie, Mortician and all of the other characters. I did not like Kendall and never connected to her. I enjoyed reading more about all of the other characters especially Christopher/Outlaw and the background history of the club. The relationship between Johnnie/Kendall will be continued in the next book as the story ends with Kendall professing her love for Johnnie but Johnnie says "we have a lot to work on." The author sets the stage for a relationship between Mortician and Bailey (KP's daughter) and of course Val and Zoann's story continues. Lots of twists and turns in the book that kept me reading. I have to say Kendall was not the woman i would have liked to see Johnnie with. But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and see if the author redeems Kendall in the next book.
it was good that it didn't end with all hearts and flowers and ,, I love you,, here and there, because if the timeline of the majority of the book was 5 days...
I feel for Kendall and Johnnie but, damn I wanted to slap them both so fucking much if wasn't even funny... well I hope we goona see more of them in the next book because their are still quite new and et the beginning so I'm hoping it would be good to see small novella for them or part of the other stories

can not wait for next book, Val, Zoann, Morician and Bailey books...
I received this book as an arc for an honest review & I have to say: I love this series. If you haven't read the other books in the Death Dwellers MC series yet stop right now and go read the other 2 ~ I love all the characters in these books and the fact that each character is reoccurring in each book so it is an actual story not just about sex and relationships between the characters only (although this book is full of super hot down dirty & steamy sex) You get the entire gang. This is Johnny's book (He is a hottie too whew) This series is not for the faint off heart there are some nasty & cruel bad guys in this series and some really bad things happen but it will definitely keep you on your toes and holding your breath til the next chapter:)and the next book. This series is a keeper and so far all 3 books have been EXCELLENT!
Oi ... I think they need to just off a lot of family members this is getting crazy they keep showing up and causing problems ... lol fantastic series but all the big bads have been family members sigh kind of reminds me of my own family actually .... hahaha oi I just love MC based book they are so much fun to read
This was the hardest book to listen to so far in this Death Dwellers series. One reason is the voice actor. Mr. Valor does a great job in bringing the harsh reality of Kendall's world to life. There is no way that you won't feel something for this latest book. It's a story that is the most violent and our narrator makes you sit up and pay attention. You can almost feel her pain.
One good thing is that since this is Johnnie's story, the swearing isn't as bad as the previous book. But with all the violence, sometimes I actually would have preferred it. With that you wouldn't think that I liked the story but I did. We get some backstory here - get an understanding of the life that Johnnie and Christopher grew up in. This is one of those stories that it's hard to turn away from because this story has a realistic tone to it.
Everything that Kendall went through is something that could be happening to any woman in the world right now. Johnnie seems so put together but this story gives us more look into what he's really like. Their story is one that I have to turn off now and then because some of the violence is hard to take. But that doesn't stop me from going back time and again. I want to know that Kendall is going to be able to find some kind of happiness.
Ms. Kelly is most imaginative with this book. You have to wonder her thought process. Did she research? How did she get through all those scenes where there was violence against women? Or when she wrote the graphic scenes that show exactly what the men of the Death Dwellers, and enemies, are really like. Her words have left me wanting more. Mr. Valor has left me wanting more.
This is one book that shows why I listen to audiobooks. If I read the book I don't think I would have the same reaction. With someone reading to you, bringing the characters to life, you can almost see the scenes come to life - like a movie playing out in your head. You have your headphones in so that all you can do is concentrate on the story. Everything else is cut off since all you can hear is what the narrator is telling you.
I start my day with a couple of disappointments. As I research to see if my audio tour of this MC is going to continue I find it's not - at least right now. Another disappointment comes in the fact that I find that Johnnie and Kendall's story isn't finished. My last disappointment was that I couldn't tell if "Misdeeds" will also come out in audio so that I can continue my Death Dwellers adventure. But the good news is that if it doesn't it's not the end of the world - will just have to add the book to my regular library. Then maybe I can find out what happens to our couple.
I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.
I started this series with high expectations as Misled had quite a lot of glowing reviews and left me grasping for more. Whilst beginning Misunderstood I had some trepidation's, as it’s reviews and feedback was not so positive. Misunderstood is surprisingly enjoyable, with Johnnie revealing a lot of his and Christopher's past and leaving you with more of an understanding of their family life. Whilst Kendall initially appeals to me, I didn't think her character would after the bachelor party lap dance incident. But she was a surprisingly subtle appeal to me which lead to me understanding her home life and motivations a lot more. Yes, at times she is weak but after all she has been through it is understandable to see her stripped back from the smart, strong and caring woman she once was. Her emotional turmoil and real-life struggles. Leave a rare view into what people who suffer such things feel and the thought process. I am inclined to say I enjoyed the realness of this book more so than the first. I have seen a lot of complaints about Kendall's character but in my opinion, she is more real than others in the series. The story really takes you in to harsh realities that the MC lifestyle faces. This novel has rung every emotion from me. While Johnnie and Kendall are not the most likable characters, they are the realest I read. They take horrible circumstances and deal with them the best way they can. Many might not like how they do, but ultimately, they have found some solace of peace and a way forward. Highly recommend reading with its multitude of emotions and being integral to the story line.
