About the author

Samael Aun Weor (which is a Hebrew name) wrote over sixty books, gave thousands of lectures, and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement, whose members number in the millions. Though these accomplishments are certainly impressive by any standard, they are merely the pale terrestrial reflection of the work he accomplished internally, spiritually. And yet, in spite of his wisdom and generosity towards mankind, he said:

"Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization."

His lifelong mission was to deliver to humanity the complete path toward the realization of the inner Being, or in other words, the total and exact science required by anyone of any religion, race, culture or creed who wishes to fully and completely develop the human soul. The path he taught is the Path of the Bodhisattva, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.

Este libro hace un popurrí de afirmaciones que provienen de distintas religiones y junta todo sin mayores explicaciones.

Es relevante notar que, en esta práctica (sin duda, sexista), solo los hombres [cis] pueden ser magos. Además, la perspectiva de Samael Aun Weor es una perspectiva heterosexualizante que destila homofobia y, a ratos, hasta misoginia (algunas veces más encubierta que otras), ya que toda la magia se practica a base de la retención del semen tras el coitus interruptus (y en repetidas ocasiones trata a la mujer como objeto).

Aparecen, por un lado, frases que exaltan a la mujer como fuente de toda sabiduría divina (idealización) de una manera absurda, y por otro, una denigración gratuita hacia la mujer. Por ejemplo, “Todo lo que se necesita para trabajar con la Piedra Filosofal, es tener una buena hembra” [sic], “Para lo único que sirve la mujer es para convertirnos en dioses”, “Hay mujeres que trabajan a los hombres con brujerías”, etc.

Mi impresión general sobre este libro, es que una persona con conocimientos esotéricos se quedó en la superficie del entendimiento interpretando demasiados aspectos espirituales como físicos, ya sea a fin de crear un movimiento con el que enriquerse (de distintas formas, no solo en dinero) o por necedad o negligencia; ya que, a ratos, además peca de soberbia.

Mi mayor ganancia al leer este libro (además de ciertas revelaciones sobre lo esotérico que devinieron de ciertos nombres, probablemente extraídos de otros textos), es el título de Maga Negra, ya que el texto dice: “Toda persona que lea este libro y lo repudie, es porque es Maga Negra”, "Todo estudiante de Ocultismo que repudie este libro, es porque es Mago Negro.”

Es muy interesante notar que ningún “Mago Negro” se llama a sí mismo/a de esta forma, y es una denominación que siempre proviene de opiniones externas satanizantes.
